Morning all, hope we're all ok?

Loads to catch up on, I'm afraid. I just seem to have fallen out of the habbit of coming on here. Blush Will try and be better, and hopefully will be on later to do personals.

We're pretty much set for Christmas, just have a few friends, my Mum, and M to buy for. J has decided that he and his brother will take their Dad for a three day skiing trip as his present. Going to cost a fortune, and am not 100% sure I'm happy with him going, but I'll only be about 28 weeks at the time, so I'm sure I can cope with M by myself for three days Hmm.

Things have been good here, apart from on/off bleeding and a few fainting episodes (low blood pressure & low iron levels), a few bugs and M burning her hand on a sparkler. Poor mite. But she's so resiliant and it barely bothered her. She's always covered in scabs and bruises, but she never seems to fall over with me, always my Mum/MIL. Wonder if they do too much with her or I just don't do enough!

dinkystinky · 14/11/2011 10:09

ouch poor M - hope she's recovering well. Danny spent most of bonfire night running off trying to grab sparklers too - fortunately I mostly managed to rugby tackle him before he got hold of other people's sparklers from the wrong end bu tit was a close run thing. And Danny spends most days adding to his scabs, bruises and contusions - must be something about being born on the 10th February Wink Sorry to hear you've been bleeding on and off -are you under close monitoring this pregnancy?

MrsY poor M, how awful and poor you with your bleeding and fainting. A sign that you should be resting more perhaps?

Bloody pissed off with bloody nursery. They phoned about 10.30am asking me to pick up H as he had 'loose poos'. Went straight to get him and he was playing outside with all the other children, clearly very happy and two of the nursery staff commented that he was very happy in himself, just had a loose bottom. He has been fine all weekend although one runny poo yesterday which he gets occasionally but no other problem, ie sickness. Nursery said S & D going round and said he can't go back til next Monday (normal days are Monday and Wednesday) Am so pissed off as
A) I don't think he has S & D. He came home and was perfectly happy, scoffed about 5 cocktail sausages, ham soup and bread and is absolutely fine. I think he might have a tooth coming which may explain it

B) Nursery is 40 pounds per day for his sessions so essentially we've paid over 65 pounds for sessions he didn't/isn't allowed to do and there is nothing wrong with him.

C) had finally made a hair appointment and had a cancellation for wed am (nothing else for weeks) and now I will have to cancel Angry

Do nurseries seriously get away with banning children who may be teething?

oooggs · 14/11/2011 18:19

Our nursery would send home after 3rd loose poo then ban for 48 hours

MOSagain · 14/11/2011 18:28

ah, you see he only had 2 in a row and has been absolutely fine since. He is full of shit like his dad! Wink Bloody teething! Angry

dinkystinky · 15/11/2011 10:11

Hmm at the nursery MoS - Danny gets plenty of loose poos (but I mostly put that down to him being a fruit and veg fiend - he has been known to eat an entire punnet of cherry tomatoes in one go!) so he'd never spend time in nursery! I do think if the nursery is imposing a ban the parents should get some form of rebate on the fees for those days.

MrsY Hope you're ok, that hoorid about the bleeding and fainting.
Hope M is ok. Poor love.
I was worried about giving Luke a sparkler, but I did anyway and am pleased to report he did really well with it.
MOS Nurseries are a PITA aren't they? I got a call a few weeks ago to say Luke had really bad runs, so quickly organised for dp to collect him. Dp said it couldn't have been that bad because he was still wearing the same trousers and over the next 2 days was fine.
I had to explain tot he nursery that Luke does have soft stools and that when he goes, he thinks that one plop (sorry) is poo finished, so he gets wiped, pulls pants and trousers up, leaves the bathroom, then realises he hasn't finished, so can end up going 3 times in 10mins.

MOSagain · 16/11/2011 09:08

SM that is interesting and I'm wondering if that is what is happening with H. Apparently he did two poos very close together at school on Monday but then when I brought him home nothing more until yesterday afternoon (so at least 26 hours after the poo at school so clearly not a diarreaha (sp?) bug!) and then yesterday two poos very close together. Maybe H is just full of sh** like his dad Wink

MrsY hope you are feeling a bit better now.

where is everyone else? We seem to have lost a few of our 'old' friends Sad

SilveryMoon · 16/11/2011 19:53

Mos It might be. Maybe have a chat with the nursery about it, maybe you could keep a toilet diary for H for a few weeks to gauge a pattern?

I'm a bit Sad that I don't get on here as much as I used to, if only there was more time in the day!

We went to Jacob's parents evening yesterday. Overall we are very pleased with his progress. Still concerned about the level of homework and a bit Shock that they are grading them already. Jacob has C's across the board, apart from social development which he got a B in (very proud) and a D for homework. Apparently he has handed in 62% of homework, which is probably correct but is a proper joke, we do at least 3 sheets with him a week, and that's only covered just over half of it. It's only been what, 8/9 weeks.
But, for me at this stage, I am pleased with how he is enjoying school, how he has adjusted to full days and how he is growing socially and emotionally etc. can't grumble Smile

MarkStretch · 16/11/2011 20:03

Hello, I am here, just lurking...

Am very fat and pregnant, got 5 weeks to go come Friday. Have done nearly all my Christmas shopping in an attempt to get organised and leave myself plenty of panicking time about the upcoming delivery.

Have had a few problems with BP this time again but not on any medication for it yet unlike last time, they are just keeping a close eye on me. I am having weekly midwife appointments now which I can't really complain about as it makes me feel very looked after!

Am about to start batch cooking for the freezer this week so DH has got some meals to reheat when I am on the sofa feeding. He has got 2 weeks off and then my mum comes over from France for another 2 weeks so I will have lots of help. Am looking forward to that!

SilveryMoon · 16/11/2011 20:26

Oooooohhhhhhh MS How exciting!!!!

MOSagain · 17/11/2011 12:23

MS 5 weeks! is that all? OMG! That has whizzed past although it probably doesn't feel like it for you! So you must be due just before Christmas? ooh a christmas baby Grin

SM sounds like a lot of homework. Remind me, how old is he? DD in reception gets nothing!

Calico1 · 17/11/2011 14:10

SM - wow that is a lot of homework. DS (in reception) gets nothing except two new books each week for us to read together. I don't think he has had any grades yet - basically they are just playing at numbers and letters at this stage so pretty hard to gauge who is above / below anyone else yet... they get good behaviour stickers each week (or not as the case may be) and an occasional and much prized 'Head Teacher's Certificate' for any outstanding good deeds.

MS how very exciting! Hope you have got an advent calendar to count down the days to the birth Grin.

Shattered today as Lilian was up at 4am - and I had forgotten that I had offered to be a parent helper this morning at Pre-school. Thought I was going to be able to drop Lilian off and go back to bed do some work at home but instead I spent 3 hours sticking glitter snowmen onto cards and wiping noses.

Calico1 · 17/11/2011 14:12

MrsY forgot to say that I hope you are ok - sounds like you and M have had a tough time x

dinkystinky · 17/11/2011 14:22

SM - it sounds like a VERY academic school J goes to. He's only in reception isnt he? MOS - DS1's school is like yours - hardly anything in reception (just suggestions of games to play at home in the last term and a weekly reading book) - he has weekly homework, a library book, 2 reading books and suggested handwriting practice now he's in year 1 though. No grading yet either for DS1 - though suspect he's probably around a C in most things - but he did get a head teachers award sticker for something (he wasnt quite sure what though...)

MS - glad you're not having such bad BP issues this time round. Good luck for the final 5 weeks! It will all be fine - you've been through it 2 times before!

Calico - 4am start. Ouch! Did L give any reason for being up at 4?

Ours get more homework than that, from junior infants (reception) they get homework 4 nights a week: one or two pages of activity books, a reader, spellings/words to memorise.

ds1 is in senior infants (year 1) and for this week had; 2 pages of maths, 2 pages of the activity book to go with the class reader, a page of class reader every night, a reader each night, two readers home from the school library (optional) and his 4 spellings.

dd is the year ahead of him and had 2 spellings, 2 pages of class reader, 2 pages maths/english/irish writing and a page of irish reading every night and has had 2 readers home and a couple of books from the school library since monday.

But we do have shorter school days, 4.5 hours for the infants and 5.5 hours for the big ones.

SilveryMoon · 17/11/2011 19:27

Jacob is 4yrs old and is in the reception class. He is an August baby so is one of the youngest in the class Sad
I'm not as wound up about it all today, we (me, dp and jacob) can only do our best and jacob's best will always be more than good enough for me.

oooggs · 18/11/2011 06:36

Erin & jack have 2 reading books a week and sounds & handwriting 4 times a week. It is hard with both of them doing at as very different ways of doing things and it takes ages.

Ds1 is in year 3 and gets maths & english (although they call it something else!) every Friday and spellings once a week. He doesn't get a reading book anymore as a good reader and nothing here to really excite him!

They all have a weekly library book

Hard work fitting it all in. Luke starts pre school on 23 January (won't take him until after 3rd birthday)

oooggs · 18/11/2011 06:37

They are in reception

dinkystinky · 22/11/2011 15:17

Hello all - wow that is alot of homework in the Oooggs house - how on earth do you fit it all in!

All v quiet on here - hope everyone is ok. Danny is being adorable/infuriating in equal measures - but I only have to compare him to his 4 little friends from his swimming class to know he is really all that hard work!

OP posts:
oooggs · 24/11/2011 19:26

Yes dinky very quiet! We will have to chat amongst ourselves Wink

dinkystinky · 25/11/2011 10:32

Tell you what Oooggs - seeing as its just you and me, I will finally (fingers crossed) get round to uploading some photos of my house on to my computer this weekend and put them on my profile for you !

Calico1 · 26/11/2011 19:29

Child free this weekend.....looking forward to a lie-in tomorrow. Kids and DH at the in-laws as I have to work this weekend. DS is insanely excited as they are going to see Santa at a garden centre....bless him he is going to ask Santa for a frisbee. Lilian has bigger ideas and wants a pink kitchen Hmm
