It was lovely SM but v v busy - even if you'd been there we'd probably have never found each other! DS1 is now v keen to go back to go on the pedaloes on the lake so suspect we'll be back there one nice dry weekend in October...

morning all.

GP was very reasuring yesterday. He was put back on ranitidine a few months back as he was getting really bad acid reflux again. He couldn't play or run around or even laugh a lot without getting acid hicups and being sick in his mouth. He was only bringing up bile but was then in pain for ages after (with heart burn etc.) The ranitidine is working on that but we noticed recently that his hair is falling out and that his gums are bleeding. GP has looked at gums and they look fine but he has really bad dermatitus on his scalp which is why his hair is falling out. We now have a special oil to rub in twice a day and he has to use cradle cap shampoo as well. His diet is poor at the moment as he is refusing to eat any veg at all so going to get him some multi vits today as well to make sure he is getting enough of the good stuff....

Still really hot here today but very overcast so think the nice weather will soon be gone...

SummerRain · 04/10/2011 14:53

SM.... ds1 wakes up at night crying about pains in his legs and he seems to be crying in his sleep before he wakes so definitely not faked or exaggerated Sad

bumps... hope he's better soon, sounds like he's having a rough time of it recently.

oooggs · 04/10/2011 21:03

SR - dd does this and I give her nurofen as was told it is growing pains - it isn't every night, maybe 10 - 12 a month she is 4.5 (her twin brother doesn't)

dinkystinky · 05/10/2011 09:15

Ah, your poor DS1 SR and DD Oooggs - I hate seeing kids in pain Sad

Danny is channelling Greta Garbo at the moment -he keeps telling me he wants to be alone (exact words "I play alone by myself. I be alone mummy") Grin

SummerRain · 05/10/2011 11:57

oooggs.... I was told the same by paeds. The physio did ask about growth spurts but she also said it could be partly linked to the flat feet. I used to get very bad 'growing pains' as a child too and was my current height (5'8'') at 11 years old, and have flat feet, so it wouldn't surprise me if it was a combination of both, ds1 is definitely tall for his age, he's the youngest in his class but taller than some of the class above him!

dinky... independent play is an important milestone right? Wink

oooggs · 05/10/2011 13:00

SR my children don't have flat feet but are all tall for age as I am 5'8" and dh is 6'4". My brother suffer with growing pains and he is 6'4" too.

Horrible things

Love it dinky - ds1 used to say 'I do it all by my own!!!!'

MOSagain · 05/10/2011 13:05

hello all, finally have 5 mins to myself. Was so annoyed I lost long post the other day, I'd remembered to comment on everyones situation and will now forget it all.

bumps poor DS, I think I would not have stayed calm.

growing pains sounds familiar, a few times DD (5) has woken crying saying her legs hurt, wonder if it is that.
Flat feet conversations sound interesting and its making me wonder if I have flat feet. Certainly have very fat feet, always had wide feet and had trouble getting shoes but now I'm doing more walking am getting a lot of leg pain to add to my existing back pain.

DD's 5th birthday party on Saturday which went really well and we were exhausted.

DS1 settling in at Uni and seems to be enjoying law thank god. DC2 is trying to decide on what A levels to take and where god help us. Seems to change on a daily basis.

DC3 settling in well at school and DS4 is simply gorgeous. No change there!

Well, my me time over, just heard him back from nursery. DS still not working so does a few pick ups. Has an interview on Friday so fingers crossed.

right, now for my plea. As you may know, I'm off to Jordan next week so plugging my trip in hope of last minute sponsorship Wink

Thanks Dinky - v useful as I need to get a couple of birthday pressies tomorrow.

Bumps & SR - hope things get better soon with your poorly dcs.

No news here really, DS is now enjoying school after a rather rocky couple of weeks. He's still really tired when he gets home and asks if he can go to bed at 5pm - bless Grin
Lilian is her usual crazy self and doesn't want to go to bed at all.....she is up in her room now trying on shoes by the sounds of it when she is supposed to be asleep. I try to get both of them off to bed by 7.30 so that DH and I can have a child-free evening but to be honest she is usually still up at 9pm.....

dinkystinky · 06/10/2011 09:51

Those Fab Feb babies are certainly a wilful lot arent they! Glad to be of help there Calico.

MoS - best of luck for your sponsored walk. Will hop on to sponsor you later. Glad DS1 is settling in well to uni life.

thanks dinky just updated my justgiving page and I'm at 99% of my target! Grin Now just have to do the damm trek! Went out for an 8 mile walk yesterday with my new (bloody heavy) backpack (AND DH!) Shock and boy am I suffering today! Am starting to panic about day 2, 20 - 24k which includes a 4 hour climb which has sometimes taken up to 10 hours!

chilledmama · 06/10/2011 22:38

hi all, haven't been on MN for ages but felt the need to see how everyone was doing. DD is a real cutie and a real pain in the arse! She is SO naughty its almost funny! Had to laugh at the "i want to be alone' comment. DD says 'Do it by myself mummy' "No help me mummy' Smile

dinkystinky · 07/10/2011 10:15

Chilled - Lovely to see you on! Hope all good with you and your DD and DS. Was thinking about you the other day and wondering how you're getting on. Those fab feb babies of ours are going to be rulers of the universe in the future I tell you! Danny spent 20 minutes this morning doing word jigsaws that were meant for DS1- cant speak properly but am pleased to say he can tessellate perfectly! Grin

MOS - have a warm bath and some ibuprofen and will dull the aches. When you're out there the adrenalin will keep you going - also plan in little treats (like a chocolate bar or something) at key milestones on that long day to keep you going.

Calico1 · 07/10/2011 20:09

Yes, indeed, the fab febbers will be in control v soon I fear. Lilian says 'my do it on mine own' all the time (she gets my and I mixed up). She had a wailing tantrum this morning when I stupidly offered to help her with the zip on her coat - 'no, no mama, only my do it'. Don't know why she has taken to calling me mama instead of mummy but it is cute.

Chilled good to see you Smile

dinkystinky · 08/10/2011 07:47

Perhaps Lilian is channelling Jane Austen....

SummerRain · 08/10/2011 19:33

ds1 is 5 and still calls me mama if he particularly wants something... little bugger knows how cute I find it HmmGrin

SilveryMoon · 10/10/2011 19:39

Evening all How are we?
Everything ok here. Nothing exciting going on.

dinkystinky · 11/10/2011 11:28

Nothing exciting going on here either SM - flu over the weekend so v quiet one.

Danny has now reached the stage where, when being told off, crossing his arms, pouting and saying "I tell my mum/dad" and storming off to complain to the other parent that he's been disciplined. Its very funny - especially when I/DH say "well I agree with mummy/daddy" and he says "I tell my Josh" and storms off to DS1 to complain to him and hopefully get some sympathy Grin

Thank you for my welcome backs.

I've just returned to work after 3 years out of the workplace (1 yr ML followed by 2 years Career Break). It's bizarre...I now have a lunch break when I have time to get on MN Grin Shock
