oooggs... sympathies. We had hell last year trying to do homeowrk with both of them at once, thankfully dd has moved to the later pickup time now so I have an hour to do ds1's with him before she gets back. Although that's not enough time to do his reader as well (he's on the horrible 16 page letterland bastards books) and although well able for them is a stubbon little git if he's decided he's had enough.

dinkystinky · 27/09/2011 21:18

Hmm I am clearly slacker mum - fortunately Ds1 goes to a slacker school! Had the joy this evening of Danny telling me to go back to work as he wanted his nanny to stay - can't pretend that didn't smart a bit!

oooggs · 27/09/2011 22:06

ouch dinky!!!

On the other hand ds1 wants me to go to work so he can go to after school club and dts want me to work lots and lots so daddy can stay home - don't you just love the ungrateful little buggers them!!! Wink

oooggs · 27/09/2011 22:07

dinkystinky · 30/09/2011 10:19

Wotcha Markstretch - how's the bump coming along? Hope F has gone through his latest picky eating phase by now.

Danny has developed an obsession with satsumas - I mean he's always been pretty keen on fruit but its got to the stage where he carries a satsuma around with him most of the day and asks to take it to bed! Weird child...

OP posts:
SummerRain · 30/09/2011 17:42

A's only interest in satsumas/tangerines/manderines is to squeeze the juice all over the table and draw pictures in it. They've been banned from the house now

On the plus side he's finally coming out of his shell a bit.... my friend was here the other day with her 4yo boy who A is normally petrified of but the two of them got along very well for once and A actually left my side at toddler group today to go play with him!

oooggs..... Envy EnvyEnvy of Florida.

I don't think I like those flowers tbh... 'fuck off' is apt. Why on earth we get a twee 'thank you' emoticon but still no 'roll eyes' or 'vomit' is a mystery Confused

SilveryMoon · 30/09/2011 19:07

Dinky Lol @ Danny and the satsuma. Grin
SR Glad A is gaining his confidence.

Well, Jacob had his hospital appointment for his hips/leg the other day.
All went well, they x-rayed again and said it all looked much better and we shouldn't be overly concerned. They are going to see him every few months to keep an eye on it.
They have also given him arched insoles for his shoes to treat his flat feet.
A lady at work told me her ds has the same thing, and echoed what mos said about the ballet, so am def gonna google that over the weekend.

Everything else is good.
I'm going to get a permanent contract at the school, they have said they are very keen to keep me and are pleased with my work so far!
Yay.

Right, dinners done. BBL

SummerRain · 30/09/2011 19:43

Great news about the permanant contract SM Grin

ds1 is being measured for insoles next week, both my dad and I have chronically flat feet too, he broke his foot in the army thanks to them and my back is fucked so it's well worth getting sorted. You must be relieved that the hospital aren't too worried about J's hips/legs... I hope the follow ups keep going well for him.

SilveryMoon · 30/09/2011 20:01

Thanks SR
Yes, we are relieved. I have flat feet too and suffer pains in my legs when walking.
I've never tried to get it treated though, always thought it was just one of those things I had to accept. I'd not really thought about it either until I was comparing stories (and feet Blush) with a friend. I was quite suprised with just how flat mine are, can't believe I'd never really noticed!
My dad has problems with his feet too and said that the insoles will be very uncomfortable, so hoping J can handle it.

MarkStretch · 30/09/2011 20:30

Hello all

I've got flat feet too! Never even realised until I saw a physio when I was pg with FS. I got those insole things too and they are really good, makes walking long distances a lot less wearing on the feet.

Bump is good thanks, will do a new bump photo on Facebook soon. Got my 28 week consultant appointment soon and they will book me in for my CS- ahhhhh! This baby is defo breech at the moment, my bladder is testament to that. However so was FS until he turned at 32 weeks so we will wait and see..

SummerRain · 01/10/2011 17:53

I never had the insoles as a child.... the German doctors just gave me a load of exercises to do but my mother didn't have much luck forcing a six year old to sit down doing boring repetitive foot crunchy things for half an hour a day. My physio when I was preg with A suggested trying the insoles from the chemists but I find them really painful even of the lowest setting, I might ask them next week if I can be fitted fro the proper ones too. It definitely affects my posture as if I force my feet into a clench to raise the arch I can feel the instant relief in my hips and back but it's agonising on my feet.

SilveryMoon · 01/10/2011 20:23

SR - sorry to hear you suffer too.
I get the pains at the front of my legs when I walk$ have never noticed pain in hips, but legs and back yes.
The really sad thing is Luke's feet are flatter than Jacobs :-(

dinkystinky · 01/10/2011 21:47

Wow so many people with low Arches - never realised it was so common! Glad J's appointment went well SM and congrats on permanent job offer. Sounds a much nicer place than the old school. Had my mum dad her 4 sisters and 2 uncles by marriage over for tea today - still all over from sisters wedding and in London for the weekend - and did an Indian spread for them which - phew - got the thumbs up from then if not from the boys! Was quite amusing how they drew parallels between how my sister and I were together and how J and D are nowadays!

oh bugger. just typed the longest sodding post ever and it vanished Sad will come back later and re-type when I get 5/50 minutes to myself. Hope everyone ok

SummerRain · 02/10/2011 20:29

SM... all three of mine have flat feet as far as I can tell, ds1's were noticed by the physio a couple of weeks ago when his movement was being assessed as part of his dyspraxia assessment. She said it could be affecting his movement and contributing to his constant falling and clumsiness. I'll need to ask about getting the other two looked at too. I need to ring the health nurse anyway about a dental appointment for dd and she's always been really good about getting the kids referrals before so I might see if she can arrange for their feet to be checked too.

Funnily enough I get pains in the fronts of my legs too but never associated it with the flat feet til now!

dinky, that sounds like like a brilliant afternoon.... if somewhat exhausting for you to host!

dinkystinky · 03/10/2011 10:28

Hello all - hope those in the south of the UK enjoyed the sun yesterday. Took DS1 and Danny to Hyde Park for a late picnic (had neighbours over for coffee and cake in the morning) and paddle in the Princess Diana memorial fountain yesterday followed by a play in nearby playground and icecreams - what a lovely start to October!

its warmer down here today and the weekend than it was in the middle of August!!!!! loving it Grin

bumpsnowjustplump · 03/10/2011 14:54

Hello tis me the absent one..

Hope you dont mind me butting in again lol.

ML starts today yippee but have so much to do at home.

Baby is breech and back to back so am doing my best to get her to move around... She is also a whooper even mw says there is no chance of me having a little one is there gulp... Also noted that all she can feel is limbs so I have just over 4 weeks to get this monkey to move!!

DS is poorly again. Back on Ranitidine which is helping but worried as now his gums are bleeding and his hair is falling out.. We are back to gp this afternoon. On a plus note he is totally clean and dry day and night now I am so proud of him..

I have had my first serious problem with another child. DS got smacked in the face at a party saturday and has a black eye. I was very calm on the outside but could have drop kicked the lad (who was twice the size although not much older than ds) over the fence... I was very nice though and he was just a baby but ds has been so poorly I could have cried when I saw his face.. tis still there as welll

dinkystinky · 03/10/2011 15:26

Bumps - am sending you and DS a huge hug. Hope he recovers soon. Its hard when another child hurts your child - arnica cream on the bruising will help it heal quicker.

OP posts:
SilveryMoon · 04/10/2011 07:21

bumps Sad that your ds got hit at the party and that he isn't very well. Well done for staying calm, it is hard isn't it, but there's not much else to be done. Hopefully the other boy got a good telling off from his mum.

OMG dinky Dp wanted to go to Hyde Park and the Princess Diana memorial on Sunday too, wish we had gone now so I could have seen you and the boys. tut

SR Good luck at getting the other 2 seen. I took Luke to gp's ages ago to ask if there was anything they could do about his bandy legs and knock-knee, but they said he's too young and I'd have to wait to see if it all evened out. Might take him back about his feet too. He keeps saying his leg hurts and not sure if that's actually the case or if he's copying Jacob, although Jacob's not said it for a while.
