Everyone must be too busy with Christmas stuff for MN! We've got friends coming for dinner tonight & in a moment of madness decided to do turkey & all the trimmings (this was before I realised I'd be doing the real Xmas lunch too courtesy of my mums inability to stay on top of a horse). We're down to 3 couples as one of them had her baby 4 weeks early & is still in hospital.

So will be spending a constructive afternoon peeling spuds (no frozen roast potatoes in THIS household ).

Hope you're all doing well and ready for Christmas!

gossifairyonthexmastree · 20/12/2005 11:59

oh nik, so sorry about your mum, good that she's gonna be ok though!
pjsmum, poor dd, how is she today?
starlover, i'm so glad linus is on the mend! in time for xmas, how's the teeth doing?
tipex, i watch this thread with bated breath re: your hair, any better now?

leon is ill again! so no nursery for him today, was meant to help my boss wrap 100 pressies this morning! have so much to do still! and find it really hard to call in to work for a sick child when i only do 2 days and most of them are at home! i suppose i'm lucky that i can work from home so we're not loosing themoney and paying for nursery...

i just found out we get holiday pay as normal all the time we're off on maternity leave, no-one told me! what a nice xmas pressie as i have to take it by the end of the year!

so, am i the only one who hasn't bought their little one any pressies? we have been given pressies by so many people for him thats there's gonna be far too much anyway!

followthestarlover · 20/12/2005 19:26

think you must be right nik! i have that nagging feeling all the time that there is something i need to do... though i think everything is all sorted!
I hope your mum gets better soon... must've been terrifying! i am VERY scared of horses, so the thought of it just makes me go all shivery! lol

gossifer i feel exactly the same about taking time off work! I do one set day a week, but have been doing a couple of evenings too in the run up to christmas. I also said i could do monday afternoons and then had to take my very first one off! Makes me feel kind of guilty as i am doing so little!
I also have holiday to take before christmas! accrued during mat leave... but decided not to have any days off but just take the money instead! lol

tooth is fine and he LOVES having it brushed! think the toothbrush tickles a bit... he lets me do his entire mouth

gossifairyonthexmastree · 21/12/2005 19:55

great image of linus loving having his teeth brushed, i bet he loves the taste of toothpaste, leon does!
how is linus - still on the mend?

and all the other little ones? fit and healthy for xmas

leon is on the mend from his latest 'viral infection' had tea today, so there's hope!

pjsmum · 21/12/2005 20:03

Well still clingy and miserable here but not as much. Cant work out whether its teeth, cold or what. to make matters slightly worse she decided not to sleep at all all day, she's now been asleep since 6.40, hate to think what time she'll wake up.
Goss glad to hear that Leon is on the mend. Quick q- what to do you put in sandwiches for them? Figured it would need to be something taht stuck the bread together but cant think what.

gossifairyonthexmastree · 21/12/2005 20:47

oh pjsmum, so sorry to hear that
leon now has a temp again

s/w - mild goats cheese, cream cheese, tuna, marmite, hummus

hope that helps

sweetbean · 22/12/2005 16:15

Hi Everyone Merry Christmas
Can i just ask what kind of finger food do you all give you babies and do we still ahve to be realy careful of salt etc sorry if im being realy stupid

pjsmum · 22/12/2005 18:59

Had DD's xmas party at nursery today. She'd been fine all day and then suddenly started her clingyness and moaning again. She's stayed like that for the rest of the pm even after we got home and refused to sleep again. I really dont know whats up with her.
Sweetbean, ive been trying to give more of a variety of finger foods cos ive been a bit slow off the mark with it. She now has bananas, pears, peaches toast, hard boiled eggs, little pizzas, sandwiches, rusks, cheese, bread. HTH

Blondeinlondon · 22/12/2005 19:02

Quick happy xmas post to you all
We are in NY, upstate in the country. The house is surrounded by snow

Finger foods - rusks, cooked and raw carrot sticks, rice cakes, bits of apple, pear, cooked broccolli (sp?) bits

Hi all,
Was wondering how you were getting on in NY, Blonde - hope the flight went OK and the in-laws are behaving! Am very of the snow, no signs of a white christmas here.

Such a lot of bugs around at the moment. Dd has been well for quite a while but now has another cold. No chicken pox spots so far! Sorry to hear the sleep thing is still crap, Tipex - must really be getting you down - feel free to post & moan, that's what we're here for! Maybe it was just your ds gatting a fright at your hairdo.... - sorry!!!!

Finger foods here - bits of toasted pitta, cooked carrot, clementine segments, banana etc. If I do pasta I leave some bits large enough for her to pick up & eat while I shovel in the chopped up bits.

Don't want to go to work tomorrow, boo! Bl**dy nursery wants to shut early but very much doubt I'll get away from work so they'll just have to lump it and keep dd there - it's not as if I haven't paid for a full day (grumble).

gossifairyonthexmastree · 22/12/2005 20:09

BiL at least someone has got snow!

well, we're off to wales tomorrow to spend xmas with my mum and dad and sis and her dp and her dd

so

i hope you all have a fantastic, relaxing, yummy, funky, manic, chilled, frantic time with all your dear ones

peace and love to all

NoRoosmumAtTheInn · 22/12/2005 20:49

fantastic, relaxing, yummy, funky, manic, chilled, frantic = great set of words, goss

sending peace & love from rooshouse to yours too, say hello to the Motherland for me

& wow again at BiL posting from NY, you must be addicted hun! enjoy the snow for us!!

sorry to hear about lack of sleep tipex...moan away, like to think we're good listeners here.

nik, if you ever decide to do the crazy drunken rant, you have GOT to give some sort of advance warning on the feb thread!! can you imagine the board going crazy? tempting, innit?! [shamelessly stirring emoticon]

christmas...oh yeah, that! still have loads of wrapping to do, need to locate some organic turkey (?) & still need to find some pressies for FIL, soooo hard to buy for. may well end up with B&Q vouchers, sigh!

where's SL?

saintnik · 22/12/2005 20:55

I do a good line in crazy drunken ranting! Or I used to anyway. It would be tempting to just let rip, though! Maybe one day......

The closest I've got recently was with my NCT friends - I gave a very graphic drunken account of the (ahem) damage done by dd's arrival into the world to a couple of the horrified husbands. I then told them that it was fine because I knew a good (and I quote) "fanny seamstress" who could sort me out. We left shortly after (wonder why) and when I got home I threw up then passed out on the bathroom floor. I'm a responsible modern mother, me!!!! In my defence, I hardly ever drink much now and my alcohol tolerance is zero.

NoRoosmumAtTheInn · 22/12/2005 21:01

tipex, i know, dh & i woke up yesterday am & looked at each other...
'did you go in to roo last night?'
'erm, noooo, i don't think so. um, did you?'
'um, no. did he sleep ALL night?'
'er, looks like....'

that's supposed to be a portrait of 2 confused & incredulous sleep-deprived parents sussing out that babe slept thro!
for the 3rd (??) time in his life.

looking like an isolated event tho, so we'll see how tonight goes!

NoRoosmumAtTheInn · 22/12/2005 21:02

at drunken nik! LOL!

oh & OUCH!!

Hmm - almost! I'm not entirely sure that dd will ever fully appreciate the self-sacrificing destruction of my body I've undergone for her. Mind you, I was thinking the other day that I mind a lot less than I probably would have when I was younger....it was all heading south now anyway!!

HAZELLNUTsroastingonanopenfire · 23/12/2005 15:03

Well I see no one's missed me - harumph

My computer is kaput and now at the MIL's (Basingstoke so not as glam as NYC !!) for christmas and snuck onto the computer to say have a great christmas every body !!! Hope you all have a good one. DD's temperature keeps going up today so am not quite sure whats up with her - one of those things I suspect... Oh well.. best go and entertain the troops....

HAPPY CHRISTMAS !!

SnowmAngeliz · 23/12/2005 15:11

Can i tell you all a quick sectret?

I'm pregnant

SnowmAngeliz · 23/12/2005 15:15

saintnik · 23/12/2005 16:49
