Hazellnut, well done on handing in your notice. Bet you are feeling really relieved. What are you going to do now?

Starlover - Glad he's not too phased by his chickenpox.

Tipex - can't think of any names myself but Nik's ones are all really good.

I have bought one big present for dd but that's probably it as she'll get loads from family and friends.

followthestarlover · 13/12/2005 18:42

Linus is having a fisher price peek-a-blocks train!
and some bath toys.

Nik - I've not bought any presents yet, I'm saving my shopping for the US. I want to get DS a retro style fisherprice telephone!

Bet the inlaws don't buy him anything new and instead he gets given 30 year old toys!!

pjsmum · 13/12/2005 20:54

I wasn't going to buy dd anything but dp came home last week and spent the day shopping for her xmas presents!
Hazelnut well done on resigning, wish it was me dreading going back to work in Jan.
Starlover, the train is fantastic, glad to hear that the pox isnt getting him too down.

ooohhh, tipex

i cropped my hair in the summer - was quite long before that. when i got home, dh said "you have an UGLY haircut". & roo prob didn't recognise me at first either!!

SnowmAngeliz · 14/12/2005 20:28

Just done a quick catch up.
Poor Linus but hurrah for his tooth

Hazellnut, you are now a Lady of leisure as my family call me (yeah RIGHT!)

Amelia also has the Pox i think. She was with her cousin last week the day before his spots appeared and she has had one big red one on her belly all day, tonight i looked on her neck there were 2 and 1 behind her ear.
She has a jab that is alreday very late on Sunday too

She CRAWLED today. Just fleetingly but she definately got coordinated and moved those knees. I was at first and then 'Oh shit the Christmas tree is gonna go now!

She also had her 9 month check yesterday, thought i'd best meet the H>V as i've not met her yet.
All was well.

tipex, roo currently has:
early morning - 5-7 am (any time in between)
mid-pm - 3ish
before bed - 7pm ish

not sure how we got onto this routine really. what if you try & get ds to have morning milk, breakfast & then nothing until post-lunch nap? roo usu. has milk after his nap tho, i find that if i grab him as soon as he wakes up he's unlikely to bite. he's gone to bed without milk tonight as he was biting. when he bites, i take it as 'i'm not actually hungry/thirsty'. if he was, then he'd feed nicely iyswim.
good news for me i guess is that roo now has 2 naps a day, am & pm. only 30-60 mins tho, but a def. improvement on nothing!!

does that help any tipex??

NoRoosmumAtTheInn · 14/12/2005 20:48

i also think that they're at an age now where they don't have to have milk NOW, ie they can be flexible & 'take it or leave it' kind of attitude?

Tipex, I have recently dropped dd's 11am feed. She now has a milk feed at 6-7am, 2:30pm and just before bedtime. Not sure if that's what you wanted to know but thought I'd let you know.

Sorry to hear about your hair. Reminds me of the time when I decided to go blonde from brunette. The hairdressers convinced me to go for it so I thought hey why not. Almost cried when I saw the results!

Angeliz - sorry your dd has got chickenpox too but it's great that she's crawling! If she is anything like my dd, she'll be heading straight for the things that she's not supposed to.

NoRoosmumAtTheInn · 14/12/2005 20:55

he started biting me loads! & when he bites, that's it, straight on the floor. well, he gets 2 chances, ie 2 bites & out! sometimes he cries at being put down, but that's just too bad, i can't let him bite me. & then we just get on with something else, playing etc & milk is forgotten. so i think really i followed his lead in cutting out milk. plus ages ago we decided to stop night feeds between 12-5. the 11pm dreamfeed i decided to drop a couple of weeks ago when i felt it was maybe disturbing him, & he doesn't seem to miss it.
he eats piles more now

angeliz - sorry for little amelia here too!
bless, they all seem to have it?! roo still seems to be avoiding pox atm tho, despite scares round here.

tipex - just don't feed him at night! you need dh onside tho, he'd have to go & sort ds. it worked for us...

NoRoosmumAtTheInn · 14/12/2005 22:28

well i guess he will eventually tipex. i could still have been feeding roo at night until recently, but i didn't feel he really needed it. plus the no of wakings was getting ridiculous - ie i'd have been feeding him every 2 hrs or so not prepared to do that any more...

wasn't ds a lot younger when you tried to stop night feeds before?? it might be easier now??

gossifairyonthexmastree · 15/12/2005 09:42

hello everyone, been away with friends with no computer so no mn!
a big cuddle for all the poxy babes, i hope they are on the mend!
and a for linuss' 1st tooth!
and an even bigfer for hazellnut, go on girl!!!!
tipex - how do you feel about your hair nw, i'm sure it will grow on you?

leon is so much better we really missed his jolly ways whilst he was ill, its great to have him back!
roosmum/tipex, i'm really interested in your discussion about night feeds; i know leon is on the bottle (don't you love how that sounds??) but he was getting up for a feed at about 3am, then it changed to 2am and 6am and last night 12am, 3am and 6am, ouch!
do you think he's just growing or should i be ignoring him? he's eating loads at all mealtimes and has 9oz at 7.30pm when he goes to bed
any suggestions?

HAZELLNUTsroastingonanopenfire · 15/12/2005 14:01

hello all !

Glad to hear some of the babies are better - but sorry to hear aobut the pox angeliz... hope dd is bearing up and Linus too.

not much news here except dd's third tooth has just made an appearance - woo hoo !! I guess the advantage of them being so spread out is that you get excited each time !! At least that explains why she's been so grumpy.

Not sure what to say about Leon's night feeds - does he take the feed well - ie. drink a whole bottle. I guess that would suggest to me he is actually hungry although I would have thought he should be able to get through the night on 3 solid meals and big bottles of milk but what do I know ? With us we can usually always rule out milk as something dd wants if she wakes as she doesn't really want it at any point of the day. Could you bear to try not giving him a bottle one night and see what happens ?? I guess you'd have to prepare yourself for a few sleepless nights to see if it would work which is never a pleasant thought is it ?

Right, haven't been out the house this morning as have run around like a loon the last 3 days but going to go for a walk down the high street for a last few minute christmas pressies.

gossifairyonthexmastree · 15/12/2005 18:50

thanks hazellnut - oooh for another tooth, i think they're all exciting! (next baby will be different i reckon!)
leon drinks the whole bottle (5oz) everytime, that's the part i'm having a prob with, it seems he's hungry;
so tonight i'm going to give him a massive bottle if he wakes, see if that makes a difference, i'm not sure i could leave him if i'm thinking he's hungry....
hopefully it's a growth spurt

HAZELLNUTsroastingonanopenfire · 15/12/2005 19:19

that DOES sound like he must be hungry goss - and I definitely agree, I wouldn't leave him if I thought he was hungry (I am not that mean ). Fingers crossed it is a growth spurt and will settle down soon. Talking of growth spurts I am going to take dd to be weighed tomorrow as we want to put her in a forward facing car seat and are hoping she's got to 20 lbs although I think, judging by her clothes, she's 19 something but havne't had her weighed since her 8 month check so may as well !

followthestarlover · 15/12/2005 19:20

hello! tis me!

well, Linus has been very miserable yesterday and today. Can't bear his dummy in his mouth because of swollen gums AND chicken pox in his mouth... poor little mite.
He doesn't even want his bath which he usually loves... I made it a bit cooler, and put oats in but he just hates it right now.

He has also been waking every hour through the night, really difficult to get back to sleep... he must be so uncomfortable.

He is here showing off his spots!

followthestarlover · 15/12/2005 19:21

gossifer, if Linus wakes and really, really won't go back to sleep by himself i try giving him just 1oz of milk. That usually gets him back off to sleep... if that doesn't work then probably is hunger!

have you tried a bedtime snack? dreamfeed?

gossifairyonthexmastree · 15/12/2005 19:25

ooh poor linus, please give a big huggle from me and leon, i do hope he's better for xmas
might try a bedtime snack, good idea
