Hi, it looks like you had a lovely time yesterday. DD slept like a log in her travel cot might sleep her in there from now on!!
Sorry to her about the poorly babies and hope they get well soon. fingers crossed about the chickenpox Roosmum. have any of you got any advice regarding a cough please. DD has a hacking cough, really deep and chesty. She's been to doctors, no infection so wasn't given any medicine. However this cough is really getting her down, at times she sounds like she's smoked about 60 cigarettes!! I've rubbed vicks onto her chest, olbas oil on sheets. I've run out of ideas, all cough medicines are for tickly coughs at the chemists. Any ideas anyone please?

gossifairyonthexmastree · 09/12/2005 22:10

hi pjsmum, that's the 2nd goo dnight in the travel cot isn't it?
leon has had a bad cough before, i put a pillow in his cot to raise his head a bit; also i got some linctus from the docs for him; have you tried filling a bowl of boiling water in the room with some vics/calvol or the like in it to sooth his nose?
his cough went on for weeks and i went to the docs several times, there isn't much they can do though
good luck

pjsmum · 10/12/2005 09:08

Thanks gossifairy, i'l give the bowl of water a try tonight. she did sleep reasonably well last night but cough did disturb her several times. I'm not sure wether the pillow would work as she moves around so much, might give it a go too. Glad to her that Leon is on the mend. Its so horrible when they are poorly.

I remember mentions of his first steps but didn't realise he is walking properly...v cool! Sam has started to pull himself up which is scary enough!

pjsmum · 10/12/2005 14:21

Well dd been asleep since 12 so taken the opportunity to research pushchairs as realised yesterday that dd has outgrown hers. We brought it thinking it would last till she was 2/3 but the harness only just fits round her. Dp doesn't want her in the maclaren all the time its too flimsy and only for holidays he says. So want something sturdier that a stroller. Think i'll just go to mothercare and see what they have. Too much choice having looked on the net i'll never decide but very excited at spending ££ on dd. Hope dd is ok she rarely sleeps like this!!

Open to ides but dp says nothing that looks weird and preferrably 4 wheels!
Tipex i dont even know what i'coo, zapp etc are going to look now. Im a novice at the wonders of baby travel products.

pjsmum · 10/12/2005 14:41

Apologises to those who might have these zapp- hideous. Icoo ok to look at but have they all got air inflated tyres? remember taking my nephew out in whatever he had with these- pain in the backside! DP has just driven past a mamas and papas store- any idea if they are any good anyone?

pjsmum - what do you have at the moment?

followthestarlover · 10/12/2005 20:07

pjsmum... i'coo is FAB! mine has air-filled tires and not had a problem with it. only downside is that it is really heavy... and big when "folded"... so you wouldn't get it in a small car.
that's the i'coo platon 4 btw
but i would definitely recommend it if you do a lot of walking and have a car big enough to fit it in... it's got fab suspension and is really roomy

oh and re coughs we got some baby meltus for Linus a while back which isn't for tickly coughs... don't know that it does that much, but it seemed to soothe it for a little bit.

Linus is feeling much better now, hope all the others perk up soon. He has been crazy this evening, running round laughing at EVERYTHING! climbing in and out of the little baby bath that dp pulled out while cleaning!

Don't have time to read through yet or write but had to see the Pics!
They are all gorgeous, on the third one down is Linus thinking what i think he's thinking?

followthestarlover · 10/12/2005 21:06

tipex... they'll be here... they're planning their attack! lol

snomangeliz... yes! lol

saintnik · 11/12/2005 09:06

Hello! Back home at last, hooray!

Hazellnut, thanks again for organising the meet, it was great fun and good to put some names to faces. What lovely babies we have!!

Starlover - I think /linus was passing on walking tips under the table as dd started to pull to stand as soon as we got back . Even more scary she has worked out how to climb stairs.

Managed to find the lift on the way back so avoided another near death experience on the jubilee line escalators .

Hope all the sick babies are feeling better. I am rising above any Zapp comments, it's just jealousy - deep down you know you want that matching footmuff, pjsmum .

pjsmum · 11/12/2005 09:59

Didn't even know there were matching footmuffs- will have to look at them. Dp seems impressed at the icoo, we have a large car so that shouldn't be a problem. We originally brought a britax travel system, which is fab apart from the fact that she has out grown it already! Its not like she's some massive oversized baby or anything!
The cough seems to of subsided a little, still very snotty though. have just spotted her 8th tooth peaking through so maybe it will all come to the end soon (until the next time that is) Hop ethe other poorly babies are getting better.

HAZELLNUTsroastingonanopenfire · 11/12/2005 17:23

computer a bit b*ggered at mo so sneaking on to dh's work laptop....

I too will rise above zapp comments - you can't all be style icons I guess...... As for M&P's, our other buggy is the m&p pliko pramette which I also think is great, v. sturdy and comfy. You cna also get a non-pramette one that is just the pushchair as you wouln't need the pram bit now.

Glad you found the lifts Nik and glad to hear that the some of the babies are better. Something decidedly not righ twith dd... v.v. grumpy and off food (first time ever). Think (and hope) it is teeth........

followthestarlover · 11/12/2005 22:00

the i'coo is here VERY cheap! we paid loads more than that for ours!

However, I did use that site for my footmuff, as kiddicare had sold out, and it was fine... very quick delivery.

followthestarlover · 12/12/2005 12:54

!!!WARNING!!! Those who were at the meet-up!

Linus has chicken pox. Came out in spots overnight. So may well have been contagious on thursday... sorry in advance if yours come down with it!!!

Blondeinlondon · 12/12/2005 13:14

Oh dear poor Linus
How is he doing?

No sign of the pox here yet

HAZELLNUTsroastingonanopenfire · 12/12/2005 13:16

oh no poor linus. Am fairly philososphical about these things so don't worry on our account - this is about the fourth time we've been on the watch for it since she's been born ! Don't they say 3 days before though is the contagious time so we may have been lucky and just missed it. Hope he doesn't suffer too much with it.

dublindee · 12/12/2005 14:13

Hi guys! can I join the club pleeeeeeeeeeeease? Had DS on 26th Feb but only discovered the delights of Mumsnet in September!!

Blondeinlondon · 12/12/2005 14:45

Welcome dublindee, how are you?

W0MBAT · 12/12/2005 15:04

Hi Dublindee, welcome to the group. I am quite a casual member but everyone is always very friendly.

Sorry to hear about Linus SL. I hope he gets better soon. I have heard that it's good for children to get chickenpox as early as possible as it's far worse as you get older. That isn't much comfort to Linus though, poor thing!
