sorry to hear about your night tipex (and your day to come) but I don't think you should beat yourself up about taking your poorly baby to a doctors surgery- surely the best place for him . Seriously though, hope he's feeling better soon. I take it your dh got home and isn't stuck ina snow drift somewhere (still no snow here - boooo)

LOL at your DH Nik... I must say though I don't really tell anyone, other than dh that I chat on here. Silly though isn't it. I know 2 people who met husbands on line and plenty who have used it as a dating agency without meeting any wierdos. My DH was peering over my shoulder last night and when I went back to our feb board he said 'oh at last some names I recognise' and then he admitted he thought it was nice that we chat.

oh yes and I agree tipex - roll on christmas... am v.v. excited too. My mum bought dd a choc advent calendar but she hasn't had choc yet so I might have to eat them for her (my mum bought her one last year too - at least then I had a good excuse to eat it for her !!!!)

gossifer · 29/11/2005 09:50

hello all

nik72, it is hard at night isn't it, leon is in a vest, sleepsuit, grobag and blanket and i worry sometimes he's too hot, then too cold, then when the heating comes on in the morning he's too hot again, oh, i dunno!

tipex, i so sorry about your sickly babe! don't worry about taking him into work, as long as he's all wrapped up he'll be fine, you know best!

i too am ridiculously excited about xmas, we're not religious and not even really buying leon any pressies (everyone else will though) going home for the first time in 7 years so my mum is over the moon! my sis and her dp and they're 2.5 year old dd are coming too, what fun!

thanks for your support, last night was a failure, first part of the evening went well (i was out!) i got home at 10pm and then leon was up groaning every 15mins and then woke up completely and wanted to play; we kept him in the bedroom and then at about 11pm he had another bottle and fell asleep, not exactly cc!
then he just didn't want to get up this am!

watch this space!

dp thinks i'm a bit bonkers meeting up but he's happy i have friends i can chat to that understand whats goin' on!

starlover - you ok?

xxxxxx

Hi, sorry to hear about the sleep probs tipex and gossifer.
Because im on my own a lot i started trying to get dd to settle herself quite early about 6 months. She was a nightmare anyway, wouldn't sleep at all. Feeding rocking car drive nothing worked. It got ridiculous, she was exhausted, so was i. I started by bottle, bath routine then straight ot bed. Gave her the same comforter blanket everytime. She cried, screamed etc i sat next to her cot stroking and talking to her. Tried not to pick her up but did sometimes. The worst night took 1 1/2 hours to get to sleep. I did this when she woke in the night too. After a month or so i started to leave the room. At the worst she will moan for about 30 mins. It is horrible but i would try and stick with it she sleeps for about 11 hours uninterrupted if she isnt ill. I dont know if this is any help at all. HV didn't show and i cant get hold of her. Hope she rings me later maybe i got the day wrong!!

DH, havin read the sharklet thing over my shoulder commented 'that's where these things go wrong.... and perhaps why you shouldn't meet up with people from there'. To which I explained that the people involved hadn't 'known' each other before they'd booked the hotel and I don't think had even really chatted together on here. Whereas we have been chatting to each other for aeons (esp. those of us that were antenatal together) so isn't the same - jsut don't all stand me up when I've booked the table !!

We have just been to our swimming class and its the second to last of the term and dd just got a certificate !! How cute is that !!!

Where IS Roosmum ???

hello fairies!

aww, thanks T & HN, for missing me

i was away at my mum's (s. wales) at the wkend, so no MN for me! & just a quick post, whilst dh baths roo, & then i have to get to a seminar by 8.

tipex....no, not sleeping here
i think that being away messed him up, so we'll have to keep trying this week & maybe get him back on track. & tipex, did you say that you sometimes use cloth nappies? which ones? think that slipped by without us noticing really. why only part-time, if you don't mind me asking??

hope you're feeling ok pjsmum, even without the HV's help...HV sounds a bit rubbish tbh!

don't get down on the meetup all! really don't think dh/dps understand MN tbh...

starlover · 29/11/2005 20:05

oh poor sharklet that would have really upset me too...

do you know, i feel like i know you lot better than i know a lot of people i go out with in real life!

think my dp is the only one who doesn't think it's weird... probably because we have both met tons of people online (including each other!)

Hi all, decided today that i was going to be more positive etc. All went horribly wrong when had to take car to the garage. Long story but they wanted me to pay for 2 tyres that had worn unevenly due to their inability to check some disc to with the steering. Had dp on mobile telling me to tell the garage where to shove the car! Stupid patronising garage man talking to me like im thick. Started to cry and got 2 free tyres and a full tank of diesel!!Glad to get rid of me i think. Oh well tomorrow another day.
Tipex on the sleep thing I'd try it but i had to psyche(sp?) myself up. Set a date and stick to it (like a diet or giving up smoking)
Im not going to the meet up but dp reckons its alright and said if i was going then fine.

starlover · 29/11/2005 21:35

oh pjsmum.. you should definitely come to the meet-up! it'll be great fun...

good result from garage though! even though they made you cry

Would have loved to come but my mum is coming down for the week. She lives in Shetland so don't see her often. Want/need dd to spend as much time with her as possible. Next time definately. If there is a next time!!

starlover · 29/11/2005 21:47

Tipex - which sister?? Presuming "B" - do you know her in RL, she did GP training in Yorkshire. Spooky.....knew I shouldn't have mentioned MN to her, there goes my anonymity.

gossifer · 30/11/2005 14:38

soooo, i hope everyone is ok

question

are you all knackered all the time and on the verge of being ill, or is it just me, help!

ooooooooh tipex, that is me! i keep wandering into rooms and looking at things to do and then coming back to the sofa and my laptop! leon has all the dry washing on the floor (maybe he's folding it for me!)
have also resorted to cbeebies (vowed i would never do!)
hope you feel better later, and ignore the housework!
pjsmum - i totally hate mechanics, they always make me feel useless, i'm just glad you got something out of it
