I think the toddler taming book recommends similar to waht needle suggest albrecht, one of those luggage straps with hooks from the door to back of fridge but make sure its in no way dangerous if he's on his own with it

Electrician's tape? sellotape it shut? that's what I've done in the past and it's worked.

Chulita · 08/06/2011 13:03

I just wrote a longish post and lost it which is why the last post is so short, hate it when that happens.

CakeandRoses · 08/06/2011 13:06

tis ver annoying chul, I always copy long posts now and of course i never happens.

were you telling me you'd made the tahini cake by any chance? Grin

i also have baba ganoush and fried/roast cauli tahini recipes to try.

had to buy new tahini yesterday as the one i'd bought when i went thru this tahini-phase last year, never actually got opened and was out of date [blush

OP posts:
Chulita · 08/06/2011 13:17

I did say I was going to try it later today! I'll let you know how it goes and drop a slice round when we go past yours.

Albrecht · 08/06/2011 14:39

Oooh thanks everyone, sorry for being demanding, we have one of those luggage belts somewhere, will try and find it once he's awake. Spirael we'd have to pull it out from under the counter and then you can't open the cupboard next to it properly. Besides he's pulled so much at various adhesive ones we've had on the computer cupboard and none have been able to withstand his mighty baby strength.

Another one interested in tahini recipes here. I've got a jar mouldering in the cupboard since I tried to make humous for pfb. Was utterly disgusting.

memphis83 · 08/06/2011 15:23

well.....you were all right!!!! she is lovely! they spent over an hour here going through everything, she starts on tuesday for 2 hours, she can take him for a walk if I want or just play with him, I can have a bath, or iron, or clean my car, or have a bath, or mop the floor,or bake or have a bath!!!! So the great thing is she will keep him out of my hair while I have a bath Grin

needle sounds a bit unfair to me, why doesnt he normally like meeting up with your family? do all the family get on ok? hope he says sorry and you dont have to back down.
tsc how is the nose now?

we are steaming throught this thread!!!
L has only napped for 10 minutes today, and not eaten anything since 9am but is walking everywhere today!

DesperateHousewife21 · 08/06/2011 15:40

Hmm maybe I wont get DP a present then, its only because our friends did so I thought it was the 'done thing'

memphis83 · 08/06/2011 16:02

dh it isnt the done thing wedding ettiquette is you buy the ushers (if a church wedding) and the best man a gift as a couple, the husband buys the bridemaids a gift, and usually send a present to the house to the bride via his best man on the morning, usually, jewellery like a necklace or bracelet you can wear on the day, some couple also buy the mums a bunch of flowers but the bride should NEVER buy her future DH a gift, as you said you are his gift!

memphis I much prefer that version! I will let DP know Grin

WhatSheSaid · 08/06/2011 20:57

Wow all that buying of presents for wedding people sounds complicated. Qute relieved we eloped Grin.

Still cold central round here, A is quite cheerful about it ("Look how much snot I can blow out of my nose, Mummy!"). G is a red-eyed snotty ball of misery.

Have to go and wrap up "presents" (i.e. our toys) in "wrapping paper" (i.e. tea towels) because apparently it's baby giraffe's birthday party today Confused

violet that's rotten. I have the hv in the morning and have to go out in the afternoon. I'm sure as spireal says iris will enjoy nursery. We will get a meet up next time your free.

dh at the wedding we were at the bride and groom only bought gifts for father of the groom and mother of the bride. My cousin only did both others and the bridesmaids. I haven't heard of dh getting a gift.

memphis great news about your volunteer. Think my hv is going to suggest a support group for me.

tsc sorry you had a shitty day. How's things with dd1?

Still trying to get madam to settle, thought she was going to sleep at 8.45 but she has a 2nd wind. I'm fed up with this!

Good evening,
Glad todays over, its been a VERY long day! Cant wait to go to bed but DH is on his way home so i'll wait up to see him i think. D has had a bit more sleep at the cm but still not much. She has a travel cot in a bedroom upstairs, he is used to a travel cot from trips to brum so that shouldnt be the problem, i really dont know why she cant get him to sleep longer, he looked terrible when i picked him up earlier, shattered and fed up. I had to leave him for half hour longer as i had a meeting at work and i felt dead guilty about it. He was fine though and has been asleep since 7.30 but only had 3oz before he went to bed. God knows what tonight will bring, i have that night anxiety back again!
I have the humidifier on and calpol/water/milk/teething powder/ dummy(mylife dont judge!) ready so here goes! The annoying thing is that he is going back to sleep in my arms so he clearly wants to sleep, poor boy!
Right DH is back and im F'ing off to bed, sorry to be so self indulged.
Speak tomorrow,
GOOD NIGHT(and early morning) to everyone!

kkfairybrains · 08/06/2011 22:19

hey y'all!
how's it going? welcome back violet and albrecht! nice to see some old faces coming back!
tsc sounds rough there alright :( hope things are easier now! how's dd1 after her break up? her study any better? well done to frankiepants on the walking! E stood up by herself a week ago and hasn't done it since!
Memphis glad to day went well for you. what day is she going to come? will be so nice to have 2 full hours to yourself! you feeling in better form in general? was thinking about your cupcakes..why don't you go for white with blue sprinkles or blue smarties or balls or something? might look a bit more appealing! i want a chocolate biscuit cake as a base and cupcakes then on a tier for people to bring home. sounds a bit naff maybe but i like it!
cakes how were your two today? hope you have a better night tonight
chulita hope you have a lovely lovely night with dh! the one time you'll have no interuptions you'll probably too tired for any funny business!
dh sounds like the wedding prep coming on very well! are you going to go from your mums house?
needle hoping things have resolved themselves there. it's horrible being made to feel like you've done something wrong when you haven't. with any luck he'll see the error of his ways and apologise before bed tonight. i hate going to sleep on an argument!
trudy are you back from your trip yet??
vik how are you feeling? did you get a date for a scan?
stac that's brill that R is sleeping better. good luck in the morning with the hv
surveys
teeth: 8 and more on the way. poor thing was so cranky today
no of feeds: not breast feeding but 2 feeds. morning and evening 6-8oz
af: yes have it back since about 4 weeks :(
diswasher and tumble drier- have both and use both all the time! except on a sunny day but always do towels in drier
treats: get my waxing done about every 6-7 weeks. getting hair done. getting to sit down and have a good read is a real treat! get to see my friends a lot and they're all very good at calling to me as they know it's easier for them! although i do make the effort to call to them too.
dp's jobs with the baby- he gets up for the bottle every morning and then just mucks in as and when.

think that was all the questions!

well i've not been getting up to much. was very tired yesterday after the run and night out on monday so we just had a lazy daqy and today i've been dealing with the backlog of washing and cleaning from having a lazy day! E has been quite cranky with teething and had a bad night last night. here's hoping for a better one tonight.
anyone elses baby constantly clinging onto their leg? i can't do anything but she's behind me climbling up my leg! most annoying is when i'm hoovering! it's not even in a whingy way she just does it for fun!
dp is out all evening pimping my car!! hope he gets it finished today can't wait to see it!
nothing else really to report! hope you're all well

CakeandRoses · 08/06/2011 22:25

tsc i applaud you for you out and treating K like that after the day you've had. you're a goddess among women. F drove me fucking potty today, there's no way i'd have been able to summon the grace to buy anyone designer shoes by the end of it.

chul right, fruit stewed, what shall i do with it now? Confused Grin

hmm albrecht tahini eh? i wonder if an invite to the parttime and ex veggie corner would be premature?

mlic and the conclusion of the experiment...?

hope your arsenal buys you a good night vik Grin

will you all shout at me if i say i bought the world and their dog presents at our wedding, inc a guitar for dh? Blush

kkfairybrains · 08/06/2011 22:28

OP posts:
CakeandRoses · 08/06/2011 22:31

oh i laughed at poor G the red-eyed snotty ball of misery Blush

everyone up to doing one of the big development surveys now? if so i'll start to look up what they could be doing now and write the Qs

OP posts:
WhatSheSaid · 08/06/2011 22:35

A is quite taken by the whole thing, she does a big nose blow (with no tissue there), then, with rivers of snot running down her face, says, "Look, I can lick it with my tongue!" as if this were the most special treat ever.

Three year olds are fab Grin
