Enter all ye ESHes. We've been Barren, we've been Pregnant - now at last we are Child-Rearing.

  • Come share your questionable tips on raising a real live baybee!
  • Compete with Cunty to take control of the bad mummy crown!
  • Eat crap ham - after all, you deserve it!

Crap sorry score I hope that didn't seem negative as it wasn't meant to be!! Xx

CUNextTuesday · 26/06/2011 17:00

sylvia just a qwikki, the carry frame you have MB in on your hol... what make is it? I want one just like it.

CurlyCasper · 26/06/2011 19:39

hello from holidays! we have wifi, but i'm trying not to go online too much. Hot, hot hot, wine, wine, wine

Lighttaperstandback · 26/06/2011 20:06

Was just talking to The Belgian about the idea of going to Glasto with kids. How does one do late night stuff? Do they have a babysitting service (yeah, right), do you take knackered kids with you or do you take it in turns to go out 'avin it laaaaarge into the wee small hours while the other one babysits? Or do you just have to be grown up and sensible and go to bed at 9pm after spending the day in the family friendly bits? Confused All sounds a bit complicated for my tiny brain...

Can't believe it's been 3 years since we last went. That was the last blowout we had before we decided to stop smoking norty stuff and Try For A Baby. So that happened quickly.

FannyPriceless · 26/06/2011 21:17

It's so hot!!! And I still can't work out whether it's hotter inside or outside.

Bonnie and Clyde had a ball today in the paddling pool. We figured out that we could put the end of the Little Tikes slide into the pool. It was hilarious!Grin Wheee... splash!

I, of course, was sitting in the dappled shade with my feet in the pool, drinking home made wine coolers with my PESH* friend.

  • When I say PESH friend, she is pregg, and she is definitely an Evil Selfish Hag, but she doesn't actually know about the ESH coven. Should I introduce her?Confused

I reckon one weekend of late nights isn't going to break them Lights but would suggest taking a garden trolley & padding it up with bedding so they can sleep.....saw this a lot at Cornbury the other year.

I like the look of Bestival/Camp Bestival too - much more kiddie oriented and good music. Double bonus.

We have one of these Cunty. Not quite the same as Silvs but so comfy to carry and has storage for nappy shebazzle & snacks.

SilverSky · 26/06/2011 23:36

CU one of mothercare's finest!

CUNextTuesday · 27/06/2011 08:07

Ta silv. Clucks, i saw those but they are a bit on the pricey side

Cosmosis · 27/06/2011 09:19

cunty check out ebay for 2nd hand ones.

okiecokie · 27/06/2011 10:00

I like the idea of Glasto with kids. Although probably do a camp bestival type thing instead as apparently Mr Tumble goes and in my book he is worth his weight in gold for an hour of peace and quiet.

Had a lovely dinner chez moo on Saturday. She is a bloody fantastic cook. Consumed far too much wine and they headed to Peppa Pig World on Sunday with very sore heads. She is off for a mini break this week sans baybeee so vey jealous.

Question for the good ladies of the ESH. Friend is having twins Christened and we were invited not God parent or anything) but can't go. Do you think we should still buy gift? She had her PFB Christened a couple of years back and it was just close family and God Parents so we didn't go and didn't buy a gift that time round.

SilverSky · 27/06/2011 10:41

My backpack was sourced at a NCT sale so worth checking those out. My one is really light and has a small bag to attach for essentials eg; nappies and gin. I find the all singing all dancing ones are much heavier and that's without the kid in it. For wet weather we now have a Togz in all one and a golf umbrella!!!

coka is good friend? Would you buy babies birthday pres? If no then I think card is more than ok!

SilverSky · 27/06/2011 10:43

Forgot to add about the backpack that the all in one for MB and brolly is cos we don't have a roof/hood thingy on it. Brolly does just the job and keeps me dry too! Double bonus!

CluckyKate · 27/06/2011 12:10

Newflash

Drama chez Box - she took a tumble at a horse show yesterday & fractured her ankle. Having it pinned this afternoon so loafing around in hospital no doubt bored out of her brains.

Dunno what the etiquette is Okes but would prob buy a present. A nice book would do it - Wind in the Willows, Alice in Wonderland.....

Cosmosis · 27/06/2011 12:13

oh lord poor box!

The idea of glasto horrifies me with or without kids. No ta.

AlpinePony · 27/06/2011 14:33

I'm with Cossie. I would rather play myself with a rusty tetanus-riddled penknife than ever attend a 'festival'.

Poor box , can't believe the lengths some will go to extend their maternity leave. ;) hope she's ok!

I'm on a ferry right now en route to France, so unbearable hot we didn't dare stock up on sausages and the like. :( channel is calm and inviting, id love a dip!

Saw reggie yesterday which was lovely but for the fact bear made mini-red cry by giving him a 'look.

Ladygaga can keep her poker face and I'll raise her a bear pineapple face!

Medee · 27/06/2011 15:26

Poor box!

Medee · 27/06/2011 16:44

Catching up properly,

How's the feeding today, Scorps?

I'm quite happy to watch Glastonbury at home, but Coldplay were boooring.

Also, we do not have your lovely hot weather, so jealous.

So, here, we had a weekend of fun and hard, hard work. We were visiting my folks, doing the rounds of friends and family. Only problem was that the teething kicked in big style on Saturday afternoon. Dribbling, runny nose, ear-clutching, more poos than normal, and lots and lots of tears. Mine, MrM's and EA's. Eventually, a combo of constant feeds, skin on skin, Calpol and bonjela calmed her enough, and the look on her wee face as she finally got some relief, yet was utterly knackered was heart-breaking. Thankfully, she slept OK, and she was not too bad on Sunday.

Took her swimming on Sunday morning, with the other GPs, and had some more visitors before heading north again. Administered Calpol at the first sign of ear-clutching, and she survived. Another small bout this afternoon, but even though she turned 3 months on Sunday am sticking to the smaller dose.

SilverSky · 27/06/2011 18:15

Noooooo! Box! can you do your job one legged? Where were you and what happened?

We are on last day of hols. Sat eve I realised I may have to put nag on loan or do something. Tho what not sure. HI really annoyed me and we are at loggerheads. Not again I hear you all cry. Yes. Again. Won't bore you with the dreary details. Again. Grin

We've had nice time. Hitting the beach and the other local attractions. Shame to come home but boy am I ready.

MB is in full dribble mode. Boobs have restored to normal service so no idea what that was all about. Snuffles all gone.

meds teething already! Bless her. Hope it's over v v soon.

Alp are you on top deck of ferry with wind blowing in your hair? BabyReg is cute eh? Is Reg still mega busy with work?

I find all the talk of festivals repulsive. Grin I've been to V. Never ever again!

Muser · 27/06/2011 18:22

Afternoon all. This heat isn't much fun. I have spent most of the day sticking damp muslins on the baby's head to keep her cool. She seemed to love it.

Went swimming again today and she came back and slept for an hour and a half in her pram. I also slept and woke up before her, had to give her a poke to make sure she wasn't dead.

We were oop North at the weekend for a family event. It was lots of fun but the journey home was a nightmare. We've never driven with her in the evenings before and think I might never do it again. It hit 7pm and she went into meltdown. I think we stopped at every service station between Peterborough and London. We'd stop, give her a feed, she'd grin and look happy. In the car seat, drive, 5 minutes peace, then full on screaming. In the end I ended up sat in the back trying to keep her calm. Was particularly annoying as the traffic was good and if she'd stayed happy it would have been our fastest journey home ever. As it was, it took 6 hours. And when we got to London the buggering Blackwall Tunnel was closed which provoked a string of expletives from us both.

Bloody amazing that we didn't have a single fight on the way back, normally we would. Especially as I was in a foul mood for most of the weekend.

rollerbaby · 27/06/2011 19:59

this heat is no joke is it people? Little moo vommed all over himself last night with the heat I think. Not nice.

poor boxer. Hope you are being waiting on hand and foot by your other half. that will teach you to be so bloody active!!! ;)

okie - fanks for your compliments. although I was so pished I actually served you the pudding raspberries in a measuring bowl. Not exactly silver service I think. Packing for 4 people with a hangover was intense. Needless to say I forgotten most thing and had to go shopping today. Hey ho, hollibobs here we come!

Scorps glad you are feeling a bit more of top of things. You'll have good days and bad days and before you know it, they;re mainly good I promise!

Lighttaperstandback · 27/06/2011 20:52

Poor Box! Hope the waiter service is up to standard. Far as I know there's peddles one needs to operate in that job of hers. Nice one in the blagging effort there!

Muse that does sound grim. When we put him in the car Squib usually screams for about 20 mins max and then conks out, but we've never had the guts to try long distance and we've always timed all trips to coincide with naptimes. Blackwall tunnel always seems to be closed on Sundays these days doesn't it? Dunno what they're doing down there...

I am glowing today. But not in a good way. OH took the day off work, and we took squib to Hampstead Heath for a picnic. Picked a nice shady spot and slathered him in factor 50 and let him roll around nekkid. Was vey naice, except Mum forgot to apply any sun cream to self until a tad late. Can anyone spot a red glow coming from North London? That'd be my Angry then.

Lighttaperstandback · 27/06/2011 20:53

That was a red face, not an angry one, btw...

okiecokie · 27/06/2011 20:58

Yes Box that is one way of delaying going back to work you skiver.

Moo I didn't notice - I was just as pissed. Peppa Pig World sorted my hanover out though.

Mini Oke is going through the obsessed with wee stage. "Wee wee here Mummy?" "Wee wee in the bath Mummy?" "Wee wee on the floor Mummy?" and pretends to do it before I grab him and plonk him on the loo. Tiresome I tell thee. He is like a dog wanting to piss everywhere.

Peppa stll won't eat anything from a spoon. Today I reckon she had 3 mini bread sticks, a strawberry and 1/4 slice of toast with cream cheese on. The rest (roasted parsnips and butternut squash, slices of chicken, jumbo rice cakes with hummous, tortilla filled with cheese and ham and cut into nice finger size slices, the rest of the toast and the majority of a crumpet) went in the bin (after being picked up from the floor). Any more good finger food sugestions? A lot of effort is going in to "preparing" meals for her and she eats sum total of next to nowt. I am not really worried I am just after inspiration. I seem to serve up the same stuff over and over again, she is probably bored of it.

Muser · 27/06/2011 21:43

We've always done morning trips before Light, to coincide with her first nap of the day and it's usually been bearable. The trip up we only had to stop once, although the last 20 mins were pure crying.

I am just amazed by how long she can cry for. We were trying to tough it out in the end but we just couldn't as she just got more and more furious. Was hideous. Bit miffed at TBG for not booking today off work like he was meant to, then we could have gone back in the morning.

Okie you could try courgette fritters. Grate courgette, mix with egg and flour and a bit of milk to make a thick batter. You can add grated cheese too. For adults I do feta cubes but probably too salty for babies. Fry until golden and cooked through. Very tasty.

rocketleaf · 27/06/2011 22:24

mmm those sounds lovely muse although probably beyond my current cooking abilities. I am lucky if I can heat up soup at the moment.

poor boxer :( that does seem to be a bit of an excessive tactic for avoiding work tho.

my boobs hurt, that is all.
