That is an amazing birth story rocket, really amazing.

CurlyCasper · 11/06/2011 19:36

Wow, amazing story rocket! Well done. I can totally empathise on the monitoring front. It was the main source of any anger I expressed during the whole thing.

Last night just continued in a downward spiral. All leading to horrendous screaming at 3am, when she downed 5 ounces of milk. Thank goodness she slept in after that!

SilverSky · 11/06/2011 19:37

Wow! Amaze! Grin

Think they are bastards for pinning you on your back! Angry

AlpinePony · 11/06/2011 19:43

Well done rocket. Lying on back is evil.

I don't want to miss people off, but I've seen a number of people on mn say they had no pain-relief, but used G&A, how is that not pain-relief? I've had G&A for something else so know the sensation.

okiecokie · 11/06/2011 19:46

Wonderful story Rocket and good on you for keeping the birth you wanted in your control.

Today I am a broken woman. Went out on the lash with Moo. We painted the town a rather glorious shade of red. Moo can't remember getting home and I remembered mid morning that we left the last place we were at without paying our bill. I hear she has been napping today to sleep it off, I on the otherhand have not been afforded that luxury.

Muser · 11/06/2011 19:58

The monitor freaked me out as well, I nearly lost it at that point as well. I think I would have were it not for the natal hypnotherapy.

CurlyCasper · 11/06/2011 20:08

muse the only thing that stopped me punching the student MW doing my monitoring was SFF's hand. If only I'd I had got around to studying the hypnotherapy!

alps, of course it is pain relief. Until it starts to stop affecting you, or they take it off you - as they did when I started pushing. Evil fuckers made me do that bit with no pain relief. But I can laugh about it now.

Please to be seeing short note on other place.

Sounds like a fab night Envy

Muser · 11/06/2011 20:48

I had the gas and air taken away for the pushing as well, I think it's fairly common. Definitely pain relief though. I think people forget it is a drug when they're talking about labour. Or maybe had it taken away so are going for a narrow view of "birth". Or just trying to show off.

rocketleaf · 11/06/2011 21:16

Hands oke a Ruddy Mary with a raw egg in it.

I can sort of seevthe distinction between G&a and other pain relief. I am not sure G&A really had any pain relieving effects by the time things got intense. But it became a crutch, a mechanism for making me breathe deeply and something to bite down on. I forgot to mention I also gad a couple if codeine at some point after the drip was inserted but I think it was a bit like trying to stop a tsunami with a plastic wind break. I felt pretty DHB after going thru it all with just G&A, and it was a massive rush afterwards. Shame things went so down hill after that but that's another story entirely.

What pisses me off about the monitoring is that in the assessment unit they said i couldn't move around yet it's the exact same equipment they used in the delivery suite where I could. Granted it was crap and they kept losing the trace but tbf that happened when I was prone anyway (tb had to hold it on my tummy when i was lying down). Its just nonsense.

Yey finally got to wet the babies head today as we finally cracked open the shampoo TBs mum gave us after the birth in celebration of his birthday.

rocketleaf · 11/06/2011 21:22

That said I am probably under estimate what it would have been like without the G&A. Without it I am sure I'd have been begging for something stronger so yeah definitely counts as pain relief in that respect.

CurlyCasper · 11/06/2011 21:28

i see what you mean rocket. G&a def a crutch to begin with, but near the end, apparently my face was a picture, looking at the tube as if to say "why the fuck isn't this doing anything?!" it really didn't touch it at that point.

Cheers to the newest Cresh resident!

VoilaAnotherGimlet · 11/06/2011 22:21

Bursting in rudely in a panic: Cos I have been expressing at 10pm around 3oz, and Clint is 8.5 mo, last two night have pumped nothing, could I be drying up and is there anything I can do at this stage? Know I have been lucky to get this far but really wanted to continue. Clint has never had formula but is now eating a lot, and the couple of weeks we have both had colds.

Welcome Leafy, great birth story, congrats.

Backinthebox · 12/06/2011 00:40

I was given the merest whiff of G&A for when they examined my tear once I got to hospital. Absolutely amazing stuff - I wanted another go, but they took it off me very quickly when I couldn't stop giggling. Fuckers. I had lots of it during first labour and it didn't seem to do anything. I had a little bit in second labour - I asked for it but didn't really use it once I was given it. Not like during first labour when I would have killed the MW who took it away from me if I'd only been able to pick myself up off the floor.

Backinthebox · 12/06/2011 08:54

TT is currently sitting in the laundry basket with a briefcase, saying she is at work, doing important things and making phonecalls. Just now, a little voice has piped up demanding I have her dinner ready for when she gets home from work. Shock She has also taken to calling LG 'Mr Underpants.' What's that all about?

Muser · 12/06/2011 09:24

VAG I don't have any useful advice, perhaps posting in the breastfeeding/bottle-feeding section would get you some answers?

I think we have finally reached the end of the 16 week growth spurt. No evil 12-1am waking here. Bed at 9.30, awake at 3am, 6.45am and 9am. Phew.

Cosmosis · 12/06/2011 09:45

vvvunlikely you are drying up, do not panic. expressing no indicator of supply. expressing is a funny thing - one whiff of illness, stress, not quite relaxation etc and it all goes to pot ime. ie at work i have a room in hr that i use and they made me a sign to cover the window in the door. If i go up and cant get the sign as hr office is locked i get lesswhen i express because i am slightly worried about someone seeing me. Try doing some breast massage and deep breathing relaxation beforehand, or warm flannels on the boobs, and don't stress about looking at how much you are getting.

rocketbabe great story Grin we had same re monitor losing the hb, ended up on my side for most of labour, not where I wanted to be, but has he'd had meconium in the waters we were not allowed not to.

Cosmosis · 12/06/2011 09:56

we have a top tooth here and I didn't notice. I spotted it yesterday but TGO said he's had it nearly a week Shock

ginhag · 12/06/2011 10:34

Extremesitting had the twinz :) :) :)

SilverSky · 12/06/2011 10:46

GrinGrinGrin for twinz!!

VAG-a-goo-goo also try shower before expressing and using it to massage your buzwams. Can help to stimulate flow.

Loving "Mr Underpants"!!!!!!!!! box!! must be how TT sees "office work"! If only it were that easy.

Need to get MB a waterproof jacket for yard visits. Today we both got soaked. Any tips where to buy? Everywhere is selling summer stuff!

Cosmosis · 12/06/2011 10:50

OH EM GEE TWINZ!!!! Grin

Muser · 12/06/2011 11:00

TWIIIIIIIIIIIINZZZZZZZ!

Massive congrats to extremelylovely. Best news of the day.

Backinthebox · 12/06/2011 11:10

Silv Togz is your friend for yard stuff. Get one cheap on eBay, they are very easy to resell. I have a pink one if you want it! (Maybe not!)

We have 4 teeth and vampiristic tendencies. I fear BFing is about to come to an abrupt end, as it did with TT, since I am not really very happy about the fact that the teeth are being used every time he latches on. And when he has a lot to look at (and that's most of the time) he pulls off to have a look and re-latches about every 30 seconds. I have sore nips atm. When I tell him off he just grins up at me and then chomps again. Ow. Still, I think I have given it a reasonable shot - 9 months and counting, and since I go back to work next month he would be having to get acquainted with other milk anyway.

Cosmosis · 12/06/2011 11:23

box tehre is a thread on the feeding section just now about biting, advice is to actually put them down when they bite - ie off your lap. Apparently this is the best way to teach them to stop.

OTOH, if you do want to stop you've done brilliantly.

AlpinePony · 12/06/2011 11:43

lol@cossie not noticing toof. At least you didn't have the HV point it out to you!

Yay for extreme!

boxer must be psychic for I can haz whizzed on stick which say "yes".

Cosmosis · 12/06/2011 11:54
