Hurray for a good night's sleep Box. How much sleep did NanaBox get???

I have been doing much sleeping for the last 36 hours due to monstrous hangover....had lovely time snuggled up in bed with my babies and the dog while MrCluck played cricket yesterday afternoon.

16 week growth spurt you say??? Blimey, BC has only been in this size for 5 minutes. Does this mean I need to do more [gasp] shopping Grin. That explains why he's been waking frequently this last week. That said he fed at 11 and lasted 'til 5 before needing more so am feeling pretty spritely today.

Welcome Score. Sounds like you're having a rotten time. I sympathise on the anal fissure front....is common side-effect of BFing. Keep the fluids up, it really helps.

Medee · 06/06/2011 09:27

oops, Welcome Scorps!

Cosmosis · 06/06/2011 09:28

Muse, I work on the principle that I do not feed Artie anything I wouldn?t eat myself, so he?s never had baby rice. It?s recommended that until they meet the necessary milestones (sit up unaided for a short period, can get food into their mouths themselves, and loss of tongue thrust reflex) you meet increased appetite by more milk. I?m not saying never wean before 6m, just that those are thought to be weaning signs now.

Also thrown in with growth spurt around that age, is 4m sleep regression, which you may or may not get ? so increased waking doesn?t necessarily mean increased hunger. I know yours does as you have increased hunger in the day too.

Sorry if that?s a bit lecture like Blush feel free to tell me to bog off.

Backinthebox · 06/06/2011 09:30

NanaBox got lots of sleep too, funnily enough, as did LG. Tis only when a man is called to help that noone at all sleeps. Hmm

Muser · 06/06/2011 09:42

No it's helpful Cos. I have no intention of feeding her babyrice. I would really like her first food to be something tasty and there's no way she's ready for weaning yet anyway. She's not showing any of the signs. And as I want to try BLW I need her to be properly ready.

I am not thinking about 4 month sleep regression.

In good news, she fell asleep at 8.30pm last night! She then woke again an hour later, but it's still progress.

Cosmosis · 06/06/2011 09:49

8.30 is good! Artie woke up after an hour for ages and ages, still does sometimes.

SilverSky · 06/06/2011 09:55

Not to mention once you start weaning you can't exactly stop and to start with it's such a headache and means carrying round more shit than you normally do!!! I'm all for leaving it as long as poss unless of course them medical folk advise otherwise.

Any future kids of mine will not be eating baby rice. Yuk!

Box don't tell me you've had too much sleep and feel worse? Hope not.

CluckyKate · 06/06/2011 10:59

Baby rice is revolting stuff but LC couldn't get enough of it - got through boxloads of it mixed in with various purees.

VoilaAnotherGimlet · 06/06/2011 11:49

Hola craphammers!

Have managed to get 'puter out and type properly! Hooray!

Realised I failed to welcome Lighterfluid to the brethren

And....Huzzah! Scorps! Sorry to hear of your woes - the first few weeks are hard enough without all that crap (ham) going on. Hope ou are bearing up - do moan to us, is what we are here for.

Box yay for good night's sleep! Clint has always slept well but we have just had three nights of broken sleep back to back, waking every 2 hrs. Feel like utter zombie, respec' to those who do this more frequently, I honestly do not know how you do it.

Cupchat: Doidy is the only one that works for us atm....or glass. Clint likes to sip whatever we are drinking so we have had to neck gin in other rooms etc. Sippy cups would be good for him to help himself from though. He isn't terribly interested in his bottle, boob is ok as long as it is reasonably quiet.

I second Skype re weaning - is a hassle I wouldn't want to hurry into (made Clint wait until 6mo - though benefit is that he can handle more stuff sooner, is really into flinging nibbling finger food. He ate a whole (small) banana yesterday - gave him a 1/3 chunk which he ate, then gave the rest, not expecting it all to disappear. Would this have been the cause of the 2am screaming?)

Off to scroll back to see what I have missed.....

VoilaAnotherGimlet · 06/06/2011 11:51

oh yes - Scorps Clint was a really noisy sleeper, like sharing a room with a horny hedgehog alternating with a flatulent granddad. Then he would go quiet and we would have to go and poke him.

AlpinePony · 06/06/2011 11:59

ESH meet in Hereford Thursday 23rd June if anyone is interested. PM me or boo.

CurlyCasper · 06/06/2011 12:06

I'm in - see Pesh (meant to post here!)

SilverSky · 06/06/2011 19:45

We have severe nappy rash!!! All in his groin too. Poor sod keeps trying to scratch his bits to death whenever I change him. Using metanium again! Any other tips? It looks horrendous and I feel so sorry for him! Can't think what could have caused it.

CurlyCasper · 06/06/2011 19:46

I'm trapped under a lethargic, burning up little girl. She's covered in a rash but doc says not to worry. But I can't help it, I've never seen her this bad Sad

SilverSky · 06/06/2011 19:49

Ps is the ESH meet event on t'other place also private or can any ok'd random see it????

Lighttaperstandback · 06/06/2011 19:51

Hello Scorpette . We haven't met...am random gatecrasher who flirted my way in here with the help of a bottle of Hendricks.

Definitely another noisy sleeper here, although more along the fidgety front than much sleep apnoea [sp?] - but I believe that's all normal while they are getting the hang of regulating their own breathing rhythms. Isn't that why they are supposed to sleep with you, so that they listen to you breathe and get the hang of how it works? I guess not so effective when mum and dad are busy holding their own breath to hear if baby is sleeping though... Hmm

I breastfeed baby in sling on the tube today and none of the blokes sitting in the carriage nearby even noticed. Get me.

CurlyCasper · 06/06/2011 20:07

shit silv I don't think it is private.. Bugger

CluckyKate · 06/06/2011 20:20

Teething Silv?

Had a lovely afternoon at the swimming pool with the Box crew. Boxer looking rather more svelte than she did 6 months ago, so much so that she didn't have enough momentum behind her to get down the tubes whereas I flew along like a bullet [porker]

On the breathing front, BC was very gurgly at night, kinda like there was fluid in there which, based on where he's been for the previous 9 months isn't surprising. Still had me worried tho but didn't bother him in the slightest. Sometimes I wonder if he's more precious than my PFB....p'raps it's a boy-thing Hmm

That there Hereford is just a touch too far for me Sad.

If you're worried Curls take her to A&E, esp. if the rash is spreading - is not nice to see them like that. Surprised the doc says not to worry though, as I've had the opposite reaction whenever LC has had one.

Muser · 06/06/2011 20:43

Hope she's doing ok Casp, poor thing.

Medee · 06/06/2011 20:52

Hope she feels better soon. Have just put mine down, though not sure how long for as every time she took herself off the breast she screamed, and I mean really screamed

CurlyCasper · 06/06/2011 20:56

Thanks both. Squeaks in bed now, after a good quantity of milk and lots of cuddles. She's miserable, poor mite. Will just keep an eye on her, but it looks like I might have to stay home tomorrow because she was supposed to be going to nursery.

silv I have checked out FB and it is private - so no unwanteds can access!

muse hope she stays down and you get a nice break.

CurlyCasper · 06/06/2011 20:56

Sorry, I meant medee of course.

Muser · 06/06/2011 20:58

Yeah, mine hasn't gone down yet. Last night's 8.30pm clearly a fluke.

MadameBoo · 06/06/2011 20:59

Hi - I created the event page and it is definitely private. :)

SilverSky · 06/06/2011 21:01

curls soz your wee girlie is poorly. MB sends her some of his snot. Didn't mean to worry you's about the event invite but wanted to check ESP as ESHs are outing themselves!

Cluck I know that there place you went today. Tis not a million miles from where my hoss lives. Reckon it's 20mins from him. No way you'd get me in a cossie. I did on our anniversary and I looked liked I was smuggling half filled balloons!
