Ok quick post - Ponyo is an anime character in a film of the same name about a goldfish who becomes a little girl. So ledkr is right, a bloody fish!
Its by studio ghibli, if you've not seen them (can't remember who said) I would deffo recommend watching Spirited Away, cracking film!

ledkr byrons name is byronic heroine but don't know whats its from or anything, hopefully she can enlighten us?!

dd gone to bed without her last bottle because she screamed every time I tired to feed her Hmm so am anticipating an interrupted night eek.

wigglesrock · 01/06/2011 22:11

Ahh reastie so much to learn.... so little time the Wiggles are an all singing, dancing Australian group (4 men), they do nursery rhymes, the odd Leo Sayer cover version Grin. They are unexplainably hugely successful. Also lets not forget the cuteness that is Dorothy the Dinosaur - get thee to the bargain bins of HMV - The Wiggles and HSM now Grin

PS great piccies - I think Alice is the double of you!

Deliaskis · 01/06/2011 22:46

reastie I am thinking it might be that, I am impatient and want to get onto 'the next thing' so I am probably falling into the trap of seeing her being awake longer as a good thing, i.e. a sign of growing up and encouraging it (as in oooh another 5 mins and we'll have made it to 2 hrs), whereas perhaps if I took her up and started winding her down earlier she would self-settle.

She does anyway at night, it's just in the daytime, I need to try and pick up on her cues better. Funny how it was easier a few weeks ago... (as in this particular thing, not parenting in general LOL!).

Dx

ledkr · 01/06/2011 22:46

Ahem aplologies accepted for mocking my fish guess,i knew it was a golfish.I have no recollection of the wiggles tho,was it irelands version of Rod Jane and Freddy?
D was a bit slow to settle but i think i put her down too soon, she was still a bit windy,i picked her up and she did too huge burps and a giant fart GrinI hope she's not planning on a midnight snack tonight. Dh is at work and im tucked up in bed with a low cal hot choc at reasties suggestion, have to say tho its not hitting the spot as a family sized bar of galaxy would.
Delias its true about the night not being as bad after afeed,i think its cos they are relaxed and take inless air-so ive heard.
Am counting the days until pils arrive,so much so that ive arranged a good piss up night out with bessie mate on Friday, just in case they want some time with their son without me,like their phonecalls, very nice of me i thought Grin
Reastie Alice is like you both and looks very grown up.
wiggs glad you are feeling better.I am coming to the Emerald isle in July, its a remote fishing Village,i will let you know the name when i hear back from my friend.Ive done Dublin a few times too which wont suprise you. Cant believe you are off in 2 weeks,me and Ella leave on the 13th. i am longing to go to es cana and see my friends but not till after D's op which is july-sept,no date as yet.

ledkr · 01/06/2011 22:47

i do know the difference between to too and two btw

Deliaskis · 01/06/2011 22:51

Oooh reastie your pic of Alice on her tummy has reminded me I was going to ask people about tummy time. C really seems to hate it when I put her on her tummy. She seems to be quite strong generally (head v steady when upright, uses legs when on back to lift her bum and move a bit around mat, etc.), so I am sure she can lift her head (and she did when we went swimming), and does when she's lay at a bit of an angle on me, but she just screams when I put her down, and seems to be stuck facedown.

So I don't know what to do, anybody with a bit more experience got any thoughts?

D

Deliaskis · 01/06/2011 22:52

Meant to add, I am of course concerned about tummy time as all 'the books' and leaflets etc. say how important it is and I am sure that I will be risking C's chances of making it to Oxford if I don't sort out this very serious problem.

D

reastie · 02/06/2011 07:35

wiggles now you mention it, yes, I think I vaguely remember the wiggles. Are they a bit like when Karl and Ned in neighbours did childrens entertaining by singing (that annoying song 'pop pop pop somthing or other stop stop stop') ? Prob no on else remembers that except me though Blush

ledkr give the low kcal hot choc a few days and stave off the galaxy a few days and I promise it will taste better and do the trick Wink . I was in bed last night not being able to sleep trying to work out the names of youd DSs (beginning with dkr?) but no inspiration - my best was kieran, richard (only as the only other boys names beginning with r I could think of was ralph or ronald and I didn't think you'd pick that Confused ) and dillon. I bet I'm nowhere near though Grin

d a friend of mine has a 8 month old who has always hated being on her tummy - she would never have tummy time at all. apparently some babies are like that and it means they will prob not crawl and just go straight to walking Hmm . I'm sure she'll still get to oxford if she doesn't go on her tummy Wink

well - getting a bit worried here - alice STILL asleep - that's over 9 1/2 hours uninterupted . I've checked she's still alive Confused and am wondering whether to wake her up for feeding or just leave her and see how long she can go - any ideas?

janedoe25 · 02/06/2011 07:36

Morning girls, hope you all had a good night.
reastie loving the new pics, Alice is so cute. I love the pic with her "i love mummy" sleep suit, she has asuch a cheeky wee face in that one!

wiggles fear not, i (unfortunately) know the wiggles, my nephew has a bit of an obsession!

delia don't worry about the tummy time, i have heard oxford are now a bit lax about the tummy time entry requirement. Wink

Do you ladies think i should mark Fathers day for DF?, shoul i get him a wee pressie and a card? I really don't know, hmm well i suppose i should, he bought me a photo frame for Zoe for mothers day. Any suggestions of what to get?

reastie · 02/06/2011 07:41

jane could you take him out somewhere nice for the day where you'd both enjoy some time together to enjoy each others company and remember zoe? I can't think of a good thoughtful gift off the top of my head (the photo frame he gave you was such a lovely thoughtful thing). You could give him a candle lantern which you could both light and send it up to the sky (although, thinking about it, maybe that's too similar to what you'll do at the sands thing).

reastie · 02/06/2011 07:43

oh, and ledkr re: byronic - I got this from wiki

'The Byronic hero is an idealised but flawed character exemplified in the life and writings of English Romantic poet Lord Byron. It was characterised by Lady Caroline Lamb, later a lover of Byron's, as being "mad, bad, and dangerous to know". '

I confess I too didn't know what it meant until I googled it yesterday

OP posts:
janedoe25 · 02/06/2011 07:46

reastie i probably will end up taking him out for lunch or something. For a wedding present i am getting him cufflinks with Zoes hand/foot prints on.

Deliaskis · 02/06/2011 07:53

Mind fully at rest now reastie and janedoe , the world is hopefully C's lobster, despite the shocking lack of tummy time.

D

reastie · 02/06/2011 07:56

that's such a lovely idea jane - I've seen those advertised and they look lovely.

Alice STILL asleep - that's 10 hours now - shall I wake her??

OP posts:
40Weeks · 02/06/2011 08:16

Maybe your BIL was on his period wiggles Grin

Sounds like you are all doing really well with routines. Mikey was getting into one but then the holiday threw it off as he needed to fit in with what we were doing. Dh is off this week and thought it would be a good chance to a) get routine back on track and b) potty train but alas his patience is at an all time low and fear he may be more of a hindrance

40Weeks · 02/06/2011 08:24

Ooh don't know what happened there, I seemed to have missed a page of posts...iPhone is having trouble refreshing methinks. Happened on another app also. sorry my post is about a day old!

Needless to say potty training is going amazingly well. He just poohed his pants

ILovePonyo · 02/06/2011 08:25

Wowzers reastie, good for A! I'm sure she'll wake up soon?! If you feel you should then yes wake her. But if not don't Confused sorry thats a bit rubbish, hopefully someone will have more helpful advice soon! Grin

jane the cufflinks sound lovely, what a nice idea. I think for fathers day def get him a card, and then maybe if theres a dvd he wants or something? I got the inbetweeners for mothers day and was very happy with that!

delia dd hates tummy time, she is really good at holding her head up but as soon as we put her on her tummy she just sort of rubs her face into the floor and cries Confused So our babies will be straight to walking it seems! Grin at jane 'tummy time entry requirements' for Oxford Grin

wiggles glad you're feeling better.

ledkr I have also been pondering on your ds's names, would you care to share?!

Hope MizK's sister is alright, not heard from her for a few days.

Well PIL coming tomorrow, so I'm going to do some cleaning today and exciting things like that :)

ILovePonyo · 02/06/2011 08:27

40 Shock at the pooed pants, oh no! Hope things improve (well suppose they can only get better Wink)

reastie · 02/06/2011 08:30

40 I'm assuming you're not potty training mikey yet Wink Grin

when does deb come back?

ponyo I have the excitement of cleaning too Hmm . Might try out a baby group this afternoon but I'm a bit scared - I'm sure they won't be as nice as you all are Grin

Still wasting time mning as alice still asleep - that's 10 1/2 hrs and counting - wonder if she'll now be in a bad mood all day for going so long with no food Confused eek.

OP posts:
wigglesrock · 02/06/2011 08:33

40Weeks he was feckin' on something Grin Couldn't really be bothered with him but his kids are the same age as S & O so felt for them.

I don't really have a routine with A but we had a good night last night, slept until 7am, was in bed for 7pm, got up at 2am for v quick bottle then down again. How old is the potty trainee? Good luck, my friend started last week, she thought it would be a nightmare but is getting there.

Jane Knew you wouldn't let me down re the Wiggles, don't know if its a bit Hmm but how about adopting an animal for Zoe and dh from the zoo - a bear perhaps, although that might be a nice thing to do for her birthday.

reastie lazy bones up yet? you're on the right track with the Wiggles.

Deliaskis Anna has gone right off going on her tummy, so I'm not bothering as much, Sofia loved it, don't think Olivia was a fan, it was the same as no nappy time, Sofia really enjoyed it but Olivia didn't although now Olivia loves running around in the nip.

Look at me - you can tell Mr W is back to work I'm using the computer instead of doing something useful Grin Nice to be back Grin

wigglesrock · 02/06/2011 08:38

Oh lots of x posts Grin

Meant to say wanderingsheep Hope dd1 birthday is fab, post some photos so we can all have a good nosy celebrate with you Grin

reastie · 02/06/2011 08:45

wiggles you're the potty training guru arn't you? Grin

Still asleep - getting quite Confused now - nearly 11 hours. There was one squeal about 10 mins ago but that seemed to be in her sleep Hmm . Hope she's not ill or something...

OP posts:
Deliaskis · 02/06/2011 08:48

Ponyo that's exactly what C does, then i feel like a mean mummy (pretty much permanently at the mo actually).

reastie Alice seems to be going for some kind of sleep record. This is all helping convince me I could just drop my dream feed (well Claudia's, I mean I don't have a dream feed myself).

wiggles C loooooooooves no nappy time. She is at her happiest nekkid.

D

ILovePonyo · 02/06/2011 08:58

reastie I think dd sleeps more when she's having a growth spurt so maybe A is too? Just had anosy at your new photos, lovely :)

delia know what you mean, I think I'll just keep trying the tum time every week or so, then at least I'll only feel like a mean mummy occasionally! (until other things make me feel like I'm being mean).
