July 2010: Drool it, maul it, crawl over it - that's how our threadbabes would eat a creme egg. But why the Creme Egg?!

Right. Have spent hours in peter Jones trying to sort buggy problem. have two possible solutions. Bearing in mind that most doubles are no good to me because they're too wide or too long for central London buses. I only need a modern buggy for public transport, as I have the tank with toddler seat for walking.

  1. Buy a decent compact modern travel system which I can use for g with potential newborn in a sling, and then for hypothetical newborn with g on a buggy board.
  2. Buy a mima. They only launched on Saturday, but compared to other doubles are frankly incredible. With a price tag to match mind. Will see if I can find a link to show you all later.
kkfairybrains · 26/05/2011 16:13

Mima looks very impressive needle! so are completely gone off the idea of a double now? i agree it would be a complete faff on public transport

Needle · 26/05/2011 16:19

The mima kobi tandem is the only one I can see working on the bus tbh.I'd love one, but its sooo dear..

Needle · 26/05/2011 16:22

BTW kk I had the best hairdressing experience of my life today. I've never walked out of the hairdresses so pleased before. It started pissing it down before I'd gone 50yds.

Chulita · 26/05/2011 16:39

stac it's got one of those gathered-under hemlines so it sort of puffs out which makes me look shorter and it's velvet so not for a summer wedding unfortunately!

needle depending on how old G is when you have another and how far you walk, the sling/buggy combo could work well. I sometimes have L in the single and S in the ergo and swap to L walking/S in buggy when he gets too heavy and back again when L starts whinging. It works for about 2 hours worth of pottering.

Needle · 26/05/2011 17:13

Chulita That's our alternative- it might do until G is big enough for a buggy board. i did like the look of the mima though. It's just soooo expensive.

I just googled it needle, looks great but is it really over 1000 quid?????

Chulita · 26/05/2011 18:43

No, they're not back yet which is why I'm reluctant to test. I honestly don't feel remotely pg but just itching to know. Might leave it another few weeks and go at it like rabbits [fat chance emoticon] so we have more of a chance. I've just had this feeling that af is about to start for a week now. I'm thinking of little else at the mo

Needle · 26/05/2011 18:51

Wss all in it would cost about £1250. I've got my fingers crossed for a big royalty cheque!

MLIC I don't like the idea of paying it AT ALL, but is it absolutely the only double I've seen which I could take on the bus- bear in mind that I don't drive, so to get anywhere that isn't walking distance, I have to use public transport.

CakeandRoses · 26/05/2011 20:26

what does the mima offer over mlic's peachy thing needle? the idea looks similar

my friend today told me about a new buggy where the second seat can fold away when not in use so you could just use it as a single - what a brill idea. wish i had one like that for days when F is in nursery or walking. if i find it i'll link to it. no doubt pricey too tho

yy, agree with you re budget for a max pushchair, mlic i'm so tight with some things

cake the mima is much shorter than the I candy, so I could get it on the bus, which I don't think I could do with the peach. You can have the mima as a single too, by the way- the two seats lift off very easily.

Needle · 26/05/2011 20:36

It's just so a) ugly and b) expensive.

Chulita · 26/05/2011 21:19

We almost got this but it didn't fit on the baby Jogger, might still get it if we have 3 pretty close if it'll fit on the Nipper.

Chulita · 26/05/2011 21:19

Hah! Imagine how odd that would look tacked onto a double Grin

viksam · 26/05/2011 21:33

Haha chu that would look very funny! I have never seen those before, or baby leggins...........see i have been reading but not really had much to post so i just lurk like a bad smell!
I do feel a lot calmer since my flip out and my DH moan........Shhhhhh but D has slept through the last few nights, i know i know it doesnt mean anything but its a nice rest bite for us. He does this weird rocking on his hands and knees to sooth himself, it seems to work for him but its a tab worrying looking. I have an iCandy Peach so im planning to get the accessories to turn it into a double as we have the carry cot part but D was out of that ar about 5 months and they want to see around by then too, im thinking i will probably use the car seat a lot tbh and then at some point in the near future we will nead to buy a seat as well and its all going to be very expensive! we also need to buy a light buggy for D for spain, any suggestions? i want it to recline as he will probably(hopefully) sleep whilst we have tea, im bummed out that i cant sample the local wine on holiday.
My scan date is through for the 17th June, 4 weeks tomorrow, i really think i will be showing by then, im already in my mat trousers for work and my belly is looking really round!

memphis83 · 26/05/2011 21:42

evening everyone, thanks for asking about L, just a quick update as we were late in from work, then i had to feed everyone, then flabelos then bath and now bed!!! Had L's nose check plus my sister is a nurse it is cracked/broken, they wont put him through an xray as there is nothing they can do for a broken nose, just pain relief, the swelling isnt half as bad but its tight and shiney! they said a week and he would have forgot about it just dont touch unless needed, then when I picked him up from mums he was walking, tripped and hit his brow full pelt on the frame of the upvc door so he is black and blue.

viksam my mum has a cosatto stroller for L, It lies flat, the legs clip up so they arent dangling, the have one suitable for hols with a deeper hood to cover the baby and a uv cover instead of the rain cover, cant do link but look on kiddicare website they stock all cosatto's

memphis83 · 26/05/2011 21:53

mlic I would never dream of potty training before 2 I want him to be a baby for as long as I can! Just dont want to feel pressured into if my friends lad takes to it!
right off to bed night all!!

CakeandRoses · 26/05/2011 23:22

Yy mlic the foldy-2nd-seat-thingy would only be good if you wanted a side by side. I never go on public transport with ours except the occassional train which it's fine on so don't have the same issue as needle

I made a curry tonight using pataks pasta as an homage to you by the way ;) DH really enjoyed it and he's so fussy with curries, esp veggie ones so it's great to have found another acceptable dinner

Any sign of the decorators a la needle's dh?

You ok there tsc ?

Kept meaning to say memphis really chuffed your dh liked the pie :). So sorry about L's poor broken nose tho - the first walker and the first breaker, this boy's never going to be a voyeur of life :D

Can I wade in to the buggy debate? I'd go with Mlic's suggestion of the mountain buggy. I have a single terrain, but would have bought a double if E had been any younger when L was born (she'd just turned 3). I'd also look on eBay cos I am tight prefer the older models but the new one looks great and you can run with a mb

Someone asked pages ago about the difference btwn baptism and christening - there isn't one. Baptism is in all Christian denominations but is often referred to as christening (i asked a CofE vicar and knew the rc view)

MelissaM · 26/05/2011 23:46

Oops, ignore me - the buggy conversation has moved on some.

Whispers - still like the mountain buggy though
