C&Cs mummy- DS did this for about 4/5 wks there. But has stopped all of a sudden. I can only think it was teething - or that aliens came and swapped him. BUT, have you had her checked over? Could she have a sore ear or something? Does Calpol or similar help her sleep? Sending you big hugs as I know how horrible that sleep depravation feels. Hope you get some good sleep tonight. xxx

colinandcaitlinsmommy · 17/12/2005 21:53

Thanks, suzi2.

I've been to the dr. or on the phone with them so many times, they know me by now.

suzi2 · 17/12/2005 22:49

C&Cs mummy - don't worry about that, it's their job.

kate100 · 17/12/2005 23:39

C&Csmommy, I feel so bad for you. I have no idea what to suggest, I can't imagine how terrible you must be feeling, sending you lots of love.

Suzi2, I understand your code I hope that it lasts!!!

Azure · 18/12/2005 15:14

C&CsMommy sorry to hear you've been having such an awful time. You must be unbelievably tired - I'm surprised you can even type. I hope it gets better soon.

pookey · 18/12/2005 21:49

C&Csmommy have you tried posting on the health section here, if it is wind/gas maybe someone else will have been through the same thing and could offer some advice? Chicken and rice is better than sleep deprevation imo, maybe the restricted diet would be worth a try if you haven't already tried that yet, at least you could rule that idea out then(then again I like chicken and rice ...)? My ds is waking between 2-4 times a night but always wants to feed, I am pretty tired so can only imagine how shatteredyou must be. I have had those guilty if I'd known feelings now and again (and for far less cause) - problem is when your tired its harder to appreciate the wonderful moments x

Helloooooo where is everyone??? Things are ok here - DS2's cold has improved and he's not quite so grumpy. We've pretty much got everything for Christmas so it's just the mammoth wrapping session. Most of the food is arriving by Ocado on Christmas Eve and so we're completely messed up if it doesn't arrive.

moschops · 21/12/2005 20:30

my ds has a cold too.........we cancelled our hospital appointment today as i couldn't face sitting in the hospital for hours with a grumpy baby. it's only a check up because of him being prem but as he's doing so well the receptionist said she doubted the Dr would issue a new appt anyway. (dr is on holiday till March, so it'll be a long wait if he does!)

just about sorted for Xmas.....just got the last few perishables to buy and a couple of Xmas pressies to finish....we are doing a photo album for the grandparents and two aunties, on the home printer thingy and have a few more pics to print.

went to put flowers on my grandma's grave last sunday and i cried so much. in fact i was feeding ds the other afternoon and just burst into tears....had to explain to dp that i'm so overwhelmed with happiness and love for ds but at the same time missing my gran so much. i just can't believe i'll never see her again, and my beautiful son will never get cuddle off her
emotionally wrung out at the moment for other reasons too, which i'm trying to put to one side atm.........i'm looking forward to Christmas and am determined to enjoy it

josey · 21/12/2005 21:00

moschops i really feel for you,
my Gran was taken into hospital 2 weeks ago after taking a small stroke, its my Dads mum, and my Dad died 2 and a half years ago, unfortunately i havent really been kept up to speed much by my Uncles think im kind of forgotten about, they told me that the hospital werent great at letting you phone, but as she is now in rehab and will be for a while that i could phone and arrange a time for me to talk to her, i eventually got through last night after a lot of rude nurses!! only to hear her sounding terrible and like she has had too many xmas sherries already [sad smile] i had been told that she was ok and speach etc wasnt affected which obviously isnt the case, i feel so terribly low, especially after getting xmas cards from her today, she had written mine and DHs but that must have been a while ago, as my Aunt has written the ones for DS and DD, i know i should be grateful we got them and she is still with us, but it just seems to have made things so much more worse, im so crabbie with DS just now and he is over excited about xmas i feel such a terrible mother, i really need to give myself a good kick up the rear, though i just dont seem to have the energy to do it.
Sorry for being a misery gutts folks.

C&Cmommy so sorry to hear caitlin has gone back to being up all the time, i wish i could do something to help, its horrible when the lack of sleep makes everything so horrible, all i can say is its a new year in a few days so fingers crossed it will be a new start thinking of you xxx

hope all the babies with colds improve so there first xmas photos are not of snotty red noses.

DD had last injections yesterday, and was weighed now 15lb12oz has shot from staying in the 75th to the 91st centile DH worried there something wrong!!!MEN!!!! she just a happy chubbie baby that loves her food.

moschops · 21/12/2005 21:07

josey.......i'm sending a huge hug over to you......

josey · 21/12/2005 21:09

thanks moschops it helps

colinandcaitlinsmommy · 22/12/2005 14:07

Hello everyone.

Well, it is 6 am here, and I'm just sitting here waiting for Caitlin to wake up after putting her to bed at 9 pm last night.

We finally know the problem. She's either lactose or milk protein intolerant. After just a few days on soy formula, she is an entirely different baby. DH says aliens have come and replaced her with a happy baby look-alike. Now if only I wasn't suffering from engorgement that I'm afraid is only a bit away from mastitis, because I am getting a fever, maybe I could sleep, too.

Sorry to Moschops and Josey about their grans.

Hope everyone's feeling all Christmasy. I feel that I've already got a giant present.

kate100 · 22/12/2005 18:06

C&Csmommy, that's great!!!! So glad that things are working out for you at last. I'm sure you'll have a very, Merry Christmas now.

I'm feeling very Christmassy now, my turkey was delivered this morning and I finished off the shopping, the best thing I can say about the experience was I got everything I wanted and I got out alive!!! I'm sure most of the people in the shop are normally sane rational people, but not today they weren't - madness. I've iced my cake today and am going to decorate it tomorrow. Then I suppose I'm going to have to some cleaning, I'd rather just cook all day, but it must be done. I've got a few cards to deliver too, can't wait, I love Christmas. The best bit is that dg is off for 5 days and after working everyday in December, we're all missing him like mad.

DS2 is still very scaly and red, but the GP has prescibed some cream so hopefully he'll be prettier for Christmas.

pookey · 22/12/2005 21:47

C&C Mommy - thats fab news

Thinking of you moschops and josey

Azure hope your food order arrives all in one piece - ocado are really good it has to be said - hope you werent watching the goodlife this evening though (how cheesy am I was watching that while wrapping presents - I am supposed to be 26 not a 106!).

Was my birthday yest, had a nice day got some lovely pressies. Me, ds and dp are having a pretend christmas tomorrow as having christmas at my mum and dads which dp cant stand!!

Love to all of you and Merry Christmas xxxx

josey · 23/12/2005 12:49

C&Cmommy what fantastic news you must be delighted what a christmas present.

Happy Birthday for yesterday Pooky glad you had a lovely day. My DH is in for a shock as this is the first year he has had to spend with my family for xmas (chuckle chuckle) my mum is the biggest kid and if he thinks he can pass out after dinner like at his mums he has another thing coming. It will make my xmas just watching his face gosh im too crewl for words

i went to the shop the morning just for a couple of bits as had shopping delivered and i forgot a couple of things and madness doesnt come close the place was crawling i scares me i dont know how people manage to push 3 trollies by themselves or WHY?!

well hope you all have a wonderful xmas xxx

moschops · 23/12/2005 15:56

we did our last few bits of food shopping.......except for the fruit and veg but we get them from the village greengrocer so will do that tomorrow am.

bought loads of pate, soft cheese and seafood as i really missed out last xmas and am determined to make up for it this year. have been given a bottle of Vanilla Galliano and some wine but i'm not upto drinking too much, partly because i have no tolerance to alcohol anymore and partly because i'm scared of being too drunk to look after ds properly.

hope everyone has a magical christmas........

kate100 · 23/12/2005 16:19

DS2's skin evem worse this morning so we had to go the doctors to get him some more cream and now I'm totally behind on all the things that i need to do today and am I doing them? No I'm on here typing away, on well. If it doesn't get done it doesn't get done.

Hope you all have wonderful Christmas's and that Santa brings you all what you want (a healthy baby that sleeps through )xxxx

MIstletAOU · 23/12/2005 16:50

c&c's mommy - wow what a turnaround! Sooo pleased you have found a solution to all the problems you were having. Really hope you don't get mastitis though - make sure you get straight to the docs if you even suspect you have it otherwise you will get ill pretty quickly

Moschops and josey, so sorry to hear about your grans. I spoke to my granny this morning - she is 88 and we are very close, but live hundreds of miles away from each other, so we rarely get to meet up. We miss each other a lot and I do worry that I will never see her again.

Despite saying I would hold off the weaning until after Christmas, I have started it this week - he has upped his feeds so much (longer and closer together) and is now feeding 2 or 3 times in the night, so is definitely ready for it! I'm glad I waited until now though as he can sit unsupported in his high chair and is loving food - I weaned the dds at 16 weeks as advised and they were less than enthusiastic.

Earlier in the week I met up with some other mums - there were five of us who all had our babies within five weeks of each other - and we had a lovely time, a good laugh and a chat. Each of us knew someone in the group but not all, so it was good to get together. We decided to meet up again after christmas.

colinandcaitlinsmommy · 23/12/2005 19:34

For the 2nd night in a row, she's slept past 7:30 am!!!! I'm not foolish enough to expect that will last, though.

She is still crying during the day. She's just plain mad that she cant BF anymore. She tries to suck through my shirt and rip it off. When I feed her, I have to turn her facing outwards, and she doesn't like the bottle tipped up all that much, so the emptier the bottle gets, the more I have to sink down in my chair. It gets pretty ridiculous towards the end. She's only in the 6th percentile for weight, but neither DH or I or doctor are that concerned. She's still got her brother's chipmunk cheeks and thunder thighs, albeit on a smaller scale. Everyone figures she'll pop back up the centiles now.

Been to my dr. and gotten antibiotics. I have several lumps in each breast, and they still hurt, but not as bad today.

We all just got back from finishing up grocery shopping for X-mas dinner, so better go get Colin his lunch.

Merry Christmas all.

Twiga · 24/12/2005 14:11

Josey sorry to hear you've been feeling dwon, hope your Gran is recovering well and yo're not worrying too much.

Moschops sorry about your Gran hope Christmas doesn't stir up too many tears and is full of good memories for you.

Pookey interesting fact about the 5 boys to each girl thing, there was 20 of us in my RL ante-natal group and only 4 girls born!

Beachyhead hope your poor dd is feeling better soon, how rotten!

C&C, glad they finally got to the bottom things with Caitlin and that you're feeling better for a bit of sleep.

Glad that the hair thing isn't just me, no bold patches yet but seem to loose half a head full whenever I brush, wash it etc, hoping will settle down soon. Are people generally weaning early or is anyone waiting for 6 months? I'm hoping to wean from 6 months but will see how dd goes, she seems to be getting enough on the bf front just now - not 4 months until January. She's also taking an interest in us eating and seems to be putting 2 and 2 together in her head, I sometimes give her a teaspoon to play with as she seems to like the shininess of our cutlery. On a teething front she is no longer bothered by it, once the cold cleared up the teeth didn't seem to worry her either - can now see white bumps in three places on her gums but no sign of them breaking the gums yet - chewing everything in sight though.

Took dd swimming for the first time yesterday along with dh and had a fab time. A friend recommended a pool outwith the city that has a teaching pool for under 5's - it was lovely and warm, only waist deep so easy to support dd and had toys to play with, ducks, watering cans etc. Dd loved it and splashed about maddly like she does in the bath - the temp meant we stayed in for around half hour, really was fab!

Dh is working nights again this Christmas - A&E not the most attractive place to be with it being party season but he's coping! We're going to a pals for the day and he'll join us for dinner at around 3pm - will open presents in the morning when he first gets in before he heads for bed. We also plan to have a webcam chat with dh's parents - they were supposed to come to us but dh's Grandpa hasn't been great recently so they need to stay and look after him. My in-laws usually get a hand from dh's aunt but her husband just started Chemo in the last couple of weeks so is needing looked after too. We thought dd could open her present from them (with lots of help)via webcam so they can still see her Christmas day - first Grandchild and all that!

Still no news on an accommodation front for Dumfris yet but not due to move until start of Feb so hopefully will hear soon. Feeling a bit more positive about the move although still a bit daunting and time feels likes it's running so fast just now! At least we get to come home again end July and the move isn't permanent.

If I don't manage to check in again before hand, hope everyone has a fab Christmas with their wee ones and all the best for 2006!

colinandcaitlinsmommy · 24/12/2005 16:02

5 boys to every girl? Is that just in England/Scotland/Wales, etc? How funny. In my group of friends this time around 10 out of 11 of us who have had babies this year or will by next month have had girls. But we all have boys except for 2 for our 1st child.

Sorry DH has to work, Twiga. DH and I both worked every Christmas until we had kids, and we always saw a bunch of weirdos on the pharmacy end of things. I can only imagine what it's like in a hospital.

Azure · 28/12/2005 14:09

I hope everyone had a nice Christmas. DS2 slept through most of the present opening and Christmas dinner. It is all over in such a flash, though, isn't it?

pookey · 28/12/2005 14:53

I always feel sad when christmas is over

wonder if the girl boy ratio thing is true, 2 diff people have said it is but it could be an urban myth. I know at my work 4 of us had babies this summer and there was only one girl born. There certainly are a lot of ds on this thread too. We will have to send our boys over to the us so c&Cs mommy can set them up when they are older! Must be something in the water here ...

suzi2 · 28/12/2005 18:15

Hope everyone had a nice Christmas. Ours was good although we are really busy packing for our move in 6 wks. DS got way too many presents. He has so many toys. And he has so many outfits that he'll be a very well dressed 6-9 month old but a virtually naked 9-12 month old! Might need to swap some stuff.

I heard about the 5:1 boy/girl thing from my HV but it's odd becuase I know 4 people who had babies within a few weeks of DS and they're all girls.

DSs eczema is bothering him a lot at the moment so he's started waking loads again. The HV is ordering him a vest for wet wrapping so we'll see if that helps him sleep a bit better.

kate100 · 28/12/2005 19:59

I had a lovely Christmas and I hope that you all did too. The ds's had a lovely time and ds2 looked very cute in his christmas pudding suit, I hope to post a picture, but I've tried and failed before so don't hold your breath.

So sorry that your DH had to work Christmas, my DH worked for ds1's first christmas, but fortunately his new pharmacy means he only has to work 1 bank holiday a year, So he's taken a few days holiday and isn't going back until Friday, so we've had lots of family time.

Suzi2, sorrys about your little ones eczema, ds2 had some great cream and it cleared it up really quickly and he looked lovely on christmas day.
