Sorry, for the moan the other day. I'm feeling much better now, I think I was just really tired and now I've had some sleep I feel much better.

We went and got our Christmas tree yesterday and we're going to decorate it this afternoon, I can't wait to see the look on DS2's face, at this age ds1 loved the tree and I would lie him under it to look at the lights and baubles and he still loves it now.

We're all streaming with a cold here, just hope that it's out of the way by christmas, we'll look lovely on the pictures of ds2's first christmas with red eyes and noses. Still I consider myslef lucky to have got this far into winter with no colds until now.

moschops · 12/12/2005 15:58

glad you are feeling better Kate.......

tried ds with 'sunshine orange' today and he ate all of it!! he was opening his mouth wide after the first three spoonfuls.......

MIstletAOU · 12/12/2005 16:19

Orange is a hit then moschops!!!

Sorry for all of you that have had a crap time recently. I have had a monumentally crap weekend - dh was arrested for drink driving and will lose his licence (and therefore his job) on Thursday. Good job I am such a laid back person really - I called him lots of names while he was in the clink but gave him a hug when he got home. Not quite sure where it leaves us financially though

Haven't started weaning ds yet, but today I gave ds a drink of water out of an open cup for the first time - to my surprise he actually swallowed some, pulled a very surprised gurney face, then promptly went back for more!! (Then yelled his head off cos it made his tummy cold )

kate100 · 12/12/2005 16:59

Miaou, I think your situation puts things into perspective, certainly for me. I can't believe how calm you sound, I'm sure you aren't but you seem very matter of fact. I don't know what to say to make you feel better, especially right before Christmas, sending you lots of love.

pookey · 12/12/2005 22:01

Gosh Miaou thats bad news, hope something works out for your husband on the job front. You sound really supportive, your dh is lucky to have you, but glad you called him some names first.

Azure · 12/12/2005 22:08

Sorry to hear your news Miaou.

colinandcaitlinsmommy · 12/12/2005 22:48

Will read what I've missed later. I really need to catch up.

We've had a rough few weeks. Caitlin was getting up 7 times a night. She only eats once, though, the rest were because of really bad gas. (I mean wind, don't I?) She's been really stinky, too. She was back to being colicky and crying several hours a day.

We tried a whole bunch of things the Dr. suggested, and none worked. It was even discussed that I might have to go on a diet of only chicken, rice, bananas, water, vitamin pills and calcium suppliments. (No way I'd do that for months, I'd stick her on formula 1st, bad mommy that I am. Actually, I was so desperate I'd already tried to give her some formula, but she wouldn't drink it.) The last step was to put her on a tablespoon of yogurt a day for the probiotics in it, and it seems to finally be working. She's up twice a night now, but one of those times is 30 min. after she goes to bed, so I don't really count that. She was only sleeping 10 min at a time during the day, but she's been down for almost 2 hours now. So crossing my fingers and hoping this lasts.

josey · 13/12/2005 12:17

Maiou sorry to hear about your DH you must be very worried, good for you for staying so calm though hope it all works out for you all.

glad your feeling better Kate and hope the colds go.

thats good news with the sunshine orange i tried a bit of baby rice with dd and she loves it cries when you take the spoon away, she had some at 4.30 last night then, a bottle at 6.30 and she was in bed by 7.30 till 8.30 so it seems to be working wonders not that she was bad or anything but she always took another feed about 8.30 and wouldnt go down till 9. She also likes water from a proper cup but i warm it a bit first

C&Cmommy glad to see you on here again, and i glad something seems to be working for caitlin at last you must be so relieved.

Im still huffing cause i want my xmas tree up but are waiting for the joiner to finish the house, but he has been off since thursday night sick.

my poor gran is stil in hospital im hoping she will be home for xmas, she had a mild stroke wednesday morning and has a bit of a numb arm so has to get physio, i would hate to think of her being there for xmas day

moschops · 13/12/2005 12:51

dp gave ds his orange dinner today and had to fight him for the spoon!!! caused much laughter!!

i need to read about weaning though.....anyone recommend a good book? at the moment i give ds a teaspoon of cereal at lunch followed by a bottle but i want to have it sorted in my head where i progress to from there......

will be thinking of you and your dh tomorrow Miaou......sending good vibes your way for a 'preferable' outcome......

Azure · 13/12/2005 14:29

Moschops I used Annabel Karmel's Complete Baby and Toddler Meal Planner with DS1 and would recommend it. C&C'sMommy sorry to hear you've been having a rough time - I hope things are settling down for Caitlin.

moschops · 14/12/2005 16:47

have just realised i meant to say i will be thinking of you on thursday Miaou........i have my days all mixed up again...was convinced yesterday was Weds because ds had his jabs and they only usually do them on a Weds......blinking Drs messing my appts around.....

have been feeling dreadful the last couple of days, and while i still feel a bit off colour, this afternoon AF reared her head for the first time since ds was born.....i was expecting it soon as my chin has erupted with spots and its the only time i get them.........typically just in time for all those christmas photos, of which this year there will be loads, it being ds's first!!

Azure · 14/12/2005 19:45

Sorry you've been feeling poorly Moschops. I'm yet to be visited my AF - a bit of a shock after a year, I would imagine.

DS2 has developed a nasty cough and seems below par, poor thing. I was expecting a bad night last night but he slept the best he has for a couple of weeks (only waking once). I have a Christmas party to go to on Saturday, which I'm sort of dreading because I know I won't recover from a late night for weeks. It doesn't take much to tip me over the edge from coping well to snivelling wreck. DS1 breaks up from school tomorrow as well.

Thinking of you tomorrow Miaou.

MIstletAOU · 14/12/2005 19:48

Well despite all the drama in the Miaou household ds continues to be a little treasure. He loves to stand up - will happily support his weight either on my lap or on the floor for several minutes at a time, and bounce up and down or swivel his hips a la Tom Jones! He also sat unaided for the first time today - bless . Dh and I have decided to wean after Christmas - save the mess for after the upheaval!

Thanks all for your kind thoughts.

moschops · 14/12/2005 21:08

ds was funny at lunchtime.....he doesn't appreciate the fact that when he's spoon fed it's not a constant supply like the bottle....he shouts between mouthfuls!!

he's outgrowing his bouncy chair which is going to cause upset as he LOVES it, but he's just too long and heavy for it now.

pookey · 15/12/2005 12:43

Miaou your lo sounds like such a clever boy!!

C&C mommy glad things are being done for you and caitlin

Hi to everyone else hope you are all doing well. I have put a thread on weaning in the feeding topic. Am I mad for not wanting to wean him yet? I've only just got back to 100% bf He def doesn't sound as physically 'advanced' (for want of a better word)as some of your babies and dont think he is ready but he is not gaining enough weight.

pookey · 15/12/2005 15:46

Oh moschops my af came a few weeks ago but only lasted 4 days and was very light.

josey · 15/12/2005 20:54

hi everyone
sorry you arent feeling too good moschops, think yourself lucky though i have had 2 af's and both been absolute killers, tempted to have number 3 so i dont have them for another year

had ds xmas concert today, it was lovely made it feel like xmas, still donthave my tree up as still got the joiner in the house, im starting to loose the will to live!!!

dd is loving having a wee drop rice at tea time makes her feel part of the family it think she also shouts and giggles inbetween spoonfulls i have been feeding her inbetween feeds so she isnt starving hungry then she doesnt panic at not getting it quick enough.

I have my xmas lunch tomorrow, bit nervous at going and mixing with work mates but will soften the blow a bit i supose

pookey · 15/12/2005 21:33

Hi josey we havent got our tree up either, hopefully this weekend though. Was supposed to be having sky put in today but they turned up really late and said they couldnt do it as too dark! We have decided to cancel it. Too expensive anyway. DS said no yesterday clear as a bell dont suppose he actually knew that he was saying a real word but it made my day

beachyhead · 16/12/2005 11:49

having a horrible week. DD has bronchiolitus and was in hospital Tuesday and is still not better. She's very dehydrated and is only taking 1oz at a time, although this morning, for the first time, she took 5 ozs.. perhaps we are over the worst.....So very tired, and achey all over from constant rocking her to sleep. Horrible disease - really not nice. This is my first encounter with it although this is my third child. And have AF this week.....feeling thoroughly s**t.......

moschops · 16/12/2005 14:17

Pookey.....we cancelled our Sky as it was a waste of money. we still have the box so get the BBC channels etc but to be honest we hardly watch tv anyway.

AF is back with a vengeance.....never had them this bad before really bad pains......

pookey · 16/12/2005 16:40

Beachyhead poor you Hope your DD is better soon x

Moschops app most peoples first periods are quite heavy so hopefully your next one wont be so bad

Ds had his jabs today - he was a champ didnt cry for the first and stopped crying after a few seconds of the second as the light bulb caught his eye!

Dazie · 17/12/2005 10:01

Hi everyone I've tried to catch up on all the happenings over the past week and so much has happened!

Ds2 is doing well I decided not to start him on solids untill after christmas as I dont think its fair on him as Ive not been out chrismas shopping yet and there is so much going on with ds1 that I dont have time to fit it in just yet.

Ds2 had his jabs on thursday and thank god they are the last, the nurse offerd me some plasters for his legs for my benifit rather than his I think and there is definitly something about a plaster that makes it all better!!!

On the period front I had the depo injection at my six week check and bled for about a month I was furious as I had never had it before and they told me there were only a few side effects and a little bleeding or none. So I havent had another injection and things seem to be back to normal no periods as yet!!

Has anyone had bad hair loss? Mine is falling out at such a rate I have a couple of bold patches (well hidden)the doctor says that bold patches are very normal!

kate100 · 17/12/2005 11:39

Moschops, my first period after ds1, I bled so much I passed out. It was heavy even by my standards, but it did settle down after the first few.
Dazie my hair loss is awful, but the hairdresser tells me that it's your head shedding what it held onto while you were pregnant, so your losing 9 months worth. I'm not worried as the same thing happened after ds1. It all grew back, but I had short, tufty bits for awhile.

The cold weather isn't agreeing with ds2's skin. He's very dry and I'm constantly slathering him in cream or he gets really scaly and sore. It's only on his face too, his body is fine, so when ever we go out noe he has to have the raincover on to keep the wind off him. I hope it clears up soon, with dry sin and all the scrathches he gives hinself, he isn't going to look very pretty on his christmas pictures.

suzi2 · 17/12/2005 20:10

Dazie - I have baldy patches too. My hair loss is extreme and frightening! Glad that someone else is the same IYSWIM.

Kate100 - My DS is the same. He has bad eczema (although not on his face) but still manages to claw chunks out of his face every night! I cut his nails every couple of days but I'm sure he sharpens them when I'm not looking!

DS is doing well. We have had a HUGE breakthrough this week - although I will not write down what it is as I'm sure I will jinx it! If it lasts a few weeks I'll let you all know!

colinandcaitlinsmommy · 17/12/2005 20:42

Hi all. So much for Caitlin doing better. She's still up 7+ times a night, and only sleeps for about 3 20 min. naps during the day. DH and I have worked out a schedule to help both of us maximize our sleep time, but that involves us not really seeing each other much, because when one is up, the other is sleeping.

No idea what to do. I feel horrible, because I love her to bits, but sometimes I'm so frustrated that I feel that if I knew what I did now about how it was going to be, then I would really think twice about having her. DH says I just need to look on the bright side that it will eventually get better, but right now I'm so tired and tired of listening to her crying I find it really hard to believe.
