Baby Meetup: After Christmas it is then!! My DS1 &2 go back to school on about 5th Jan and I can prob park at my Dads work on a Thurs/Fri (it's a bit of a trek but might be easier than trying to park in the Centre) so maybe 12th/13th Jan would be good. What do you reckon?? Would any of you mind if I bring DS3 with me aswell? I will leave DS2 with my Dad but he might find it a bit much with DS3 aswell (he is 17 months and into everything)!!

pookey · 05/12/2005 21:07

The more the merrier! Lets say thursday the 12th (I'm superstitious!)

Azure · 06/12/2005 09:01

The 12th sounds ok by me.

wilbur · 06/12/2005 09:47

Aha - very pleased with myself, I have just spent half an hour grappling with MSN pictures and files and things that are all new to me and have managed to post a pic of Caspar in Member Profiles. You now all have to go and admire my handiwork!

I read through this thread but didn't get chance to post yesterday. Glad to hear that folk are looking forward to Xmas and that a few clever babies are sleeping through. C is sort of sleeping well, but it's still a bit random. I don't mind though as it's rarely more than one wake up which is brilliant. We just moved him from the moses basket in our room to the cot in his own room - I felt terribly bereft, like I'd sent him to boarding school. He's really too big for the basket now though, despite me wanting to keep him in there until he's walking . Can't bear to dismantle the basket (last baby blues) so it's still sitting by my bed. Dh thinks I am barking.

oh you were brave i was there a couple of weeks ago, i like the breakfasts haha ds usually goes in the play area but it was too buzy so it was a really quick run round

beachyhead · 06/12/2005 13:00

Oh, can I come to the meetup - I live in SE London, so a bit of a trek and I'll have to fit it into school times. I used to go to college in Ealing though. DD2 is still being very easy - my heart goes out to those still waking up at night. I haven't started weaning yet, although she practically gags with jealousy every time we put some thing in our mouths. I'll start after Christmas as I go back to work end of Jan and I'd like to have food sorted out by then. Hopefully see you all in Jan. How many are coming?

kate100 · 06/12/2005 17:03

I can't do a picture, it keeps telling me that the file is too big. Any tips would be gratefully received.

kate100 · 06/12/2005 17:12

There's an August '06 thread!!! It makes my little chap seem very grown up when I think of how small he must have been this time last year. I feel very nostalgic, but not enough to do it again.

josey · 06/12/2005 17:34

kate100 thats what it said to me so i did one of those msn things and sometimes when i type in the address it works straight away and others says it cant find it but i have had friend check and find it so ds and dd are out there somewhere
really wow i think i was just a year ago the deed shall we say was done its a bit scary when you think about it

pookey · 06/12/2005 19:40

Cool Beachyhead, Dazedandconfusedmum, Azure and I are meeting in Ealing on the 12th so will be 4 in total

Posting pictures: Select the picture you want to save in MN member profiles and if using kodak software select edit then saveas, then on the option resize select Best for Web from the dropdown list. I also saved the picture by itself rather than in an album just to be sure.

Its so amazing to think back to how tiny our big babies would have been this time last year!! Mine has been lauging like a good un today!

Went to hosp today I have to have my episiotemy redone

josey · 06/12/2005 21:01

oh pookey im nearly in tears for you what an awful thing to even think of having to have done you must be gutted.

well guess what i managed yes to get a photo!!!! its over on members profile but sorry not christmas one yet

pookey · 06/12/2005 22:02

Oh Josey thats really touching - I'm mainly glad that something is finally being done. Slightly annoyed because the registrar called in the consultant to see me after his examination and she said it looked sore and I should have it redone asap; fair enough but this is from the same consultant who refused to see me after 4 hours of waiting for her in A&E (with Ds in tow) because based on a students observations she decided that there was nothing wrong with me, green discharge is normal and I should come back in 2 months

Never mind i am going to seek advice on mumsnet and the internet and do everything i can to help it heal quickly, including coughing really loudly when they check my stitches!

Azure · 07/12/2005 08:50

Pookey sorry to hear you had to go through all that but glad it's finally been seen to. I took DS2 to have his 3rd jabs yesterday and be weighed (& forgot my red book, duh!). He has gone from the 75% to the 50% and that, combined with his worsening sleep, led the HV to conclude he should be started on solids. She commented that 6 months is too late for most babies. Has anyone else started on solids yet? I'll probably start him on baby rice this weekend - I can't believe it's so soon.

moschops · 07/12/2005 12:24

have tried ds on baby rice twice but he wasn't too keen......he didn't seem to 'get it', although if you give him a spoonful and then put his dummy in he sucks like crazy.

i went through his wardrobe today and have ONE pair of trousers that fit him, and had to buy new sleepsuits at the beginning of the week as he's outgrown all of his.......he is in 6-9 month clothes!!! my 4 weeks early baby is HUGE.....people don't believe me when i tell them how small/early he was.....
Have a bugbear when i buy him clothes....why do all boys tops have hoods? he doesn't like having them up and when he's inside it bunches up around his neck when he's in his seat. i just want some nice cardis or jogging tops without hoods!!

Pookey......sorry to hear about your episiotomy, i guess i was lucky with mine. i got a female consultant who stitched me and she took great pride in doing a good job. it still itches though, even though it's healed, it's like an old war wound lol plays up now and then!

Dazie · 07/12/2005 12:52

Hi everyone glad to see all babies are doing well!

Well ds2 is doing well I havent had him weighed in ages but intend to just before I start him on solids next week. Azure I started my first son on solids at 3 months (also recommended by hv) as he was a whopping size and I couldnt keep up with his constant feeding, this was when the recommened age was 4 months. I started dd on solids at 4 months as she was tiny and even though she was feeding well they thought it would be best to start her early rather than wait to 6 months. So this time I am starting ds2 at 4 months as it worked so well with the other two although I find they get terribly board of baby rice and I think you would agree if you tasted it!!

Pookey-sorry to hear about your episiotomy mine was quite bad after my first it took ages to heal and like moschops I had a few itches even now with my third the tear scar plays up now and then but I have to remind myself that I only had a baby 4 months ago!!

kate100 · 07/12/2005 14:04

Pookey, so sorry that you have to have it redone, especially after what you went through in A&E. Useless doesn't cover it does it.

Moschops, my 'little' fella is also in 6-9 clothes, he's huge, much bigger than his brother at the same age. I really agree about the hoods, with 2 hoods and a hat, his heads almost too wide for his pram and car seat!!

Had ds2 weighes this morning and he 17lb 10oz, still on the 91st centile. He's still growing well and sleeping through so I'm holding off weaning as long as I can. If I remember it's an enormous faff, trying to get everything sorted to start with. Until the freezer is full of multi cloured ice cubes anyway, but it's full of christmas things so he'll have to wait until the New Year. DH will be home then too and will be able to help out, wipe up mess etc.

josey · 07/12/2005 20:01

oh my solids already!! dd is still a bit behind with only being 14 weeks though ds was on solids (well plates of mush) buy this age and loving everything he got - im going to try and hold off till the end of january if ican, at the moment she has settled into a feeding routine so as long as she is happy so im i.
i also cant believe some of your babies are in 6-9month clothes, im just thinking about putting dd into her 3-6months as 0-3 is getting neat but im to soppy to say goodbye to them just yet

suzi2 · 07/12/2005 21:37

Hi all -haven't been on in a while. DS is still giving us real bother waking every hour or two. he's only feeding twice in the night though - the rest of the time he's just screaming and needs rocked back to sleep. He's not a huge amount better in the day. he's always grumpy and I just don't know what to do for him .

His eczema is now head to toe and we're struggling to get it under control. it may be the reason he's so unsettled, I guess we won't know until it's better. I feel like crying everytime I look at his skin. I have bad eczema myself and know how he must be feeling.

Add to all this, my DH and I have found ourselves a bargain new house and have reserved it. But we need to conclude in a week and move in by 10th Feb. Thing is, we haven't put ours on the market (well it goes on tomorrow) so we may have to go with bridging loans! Oh the stress - we like making life difficult on ourselves

Hope everyone is well. Sorry to hear they're re-doing you pookey
