Hello ladies, hope you found your way over here okay!

Our little newborns are newborns no more! :( :)

Hopefully a while yet before teething and weaning starts, but there's definitely a lot of wiggling and squealing going on already :o

bump (this fell off my active list again :()

Is it time to wind this thread down? Sniff. :(

RunningKatie · 06/02/2012 19:11

Iz is finally 1! :) She didn't nap all day yesterday which was a bit of a killer, her sleep patterns have gone completely to pot and I'm struggling with her waking up and wanting feeding a few times a night. DH and I are turning into zombies. :(

We took her out in her 3 wheeler yesterday to admire the snow and she spent the whole time hanging over the side looking at it. Nice that it snowed for her birthday Grin

Flubba · 06/02/2012 19:22

Happy Birthday Iz!! :)

Fuzzywood · 07/02/2012 09:59

Lost you all too. Would be nice to keep it going if we can, would miss 'talking' to you guys!
Happy Birthday for yesterday Iz Grin

Bubba thanks for the sewing machine recommendation, will probably get the Brother X5 this week, will report back when I get something done Smile

Flubba · 07/02/2012 12:36

With pics please Fuzzy, and if you need advice from an expert... (don't ask me! :o :o) - but seriously; if you get stuck, give me a holler - I've muddled my way through some serious bad sewing to produce some things I'm not ashamed to show to real people, so am happy to give any of the little advice I can :)

Oh, poor thing :( My little ones' coughs always hang around for a while, but I would take her to the doc's if it doesn't clear up by Monday. Have you given her any cough medicine?

Green means go......so if she has green mucous, then go to the docs Grin

Coughs in adults can take weeks to go but probably best to get it checked out. Does she have a raised temperature at all?

We have had every lurgy under the sun since DD started nursery. How kind of her to pass on the bugs she picks up, such a generous child. Harumph.

My sister is coming to visit this weekend with her 4 little ones. We plan on taking them to the beach and for a walk on the pier. Hope they bring warm clothes!!

Flubba · 10/02/2012 20:36

Is that the same with just plain linctus too?

RunningKatie · 10/02/2012 20:40

DD has had her 1 year old jabs, she managed to sleep for 10.5 hours in one go last night - wuhoo, thank you jabs! :)

jjkm - Iz had a nasty cough for what felt like ages but probably 3 weeks, but I think it's probably more of a worry for your girls, sounds like it's very sensible to take her to the Dr's if it's not better by Monday.

I've had the estate agents round this week, house is going on the market by the end of the month. Sob....

Fuzzywood · 10/02/2012 21:50

Ev has had a cough for weeks, since before Christmas but in that time he's had bronchilitis, a chest infection and tonsilitis so not just the one bug. More than a say 2 weeks and I'd see the doc. Better safe than sorry though, and from my experience the doc would rather see little ones.
I have bough my sewing machine, mum paid for most of it as an early birthday present. I've made a bag for DD's ballet stuff, which whilst it doesn't stand up to close inspection it's not too bad! Photos on profile, just don't zoom in Grin.
You moving areas Running or staying near to where you are?

We've got DD's friends around tomorrow and we're going on a bear hunt (great book if you don't have it for 2-4 year olds which we'll re-inact in the woods and fields here providing it's not absolutely freezing Smile

How is she now JJKM?
I have 2 healthy children in my house today, first time since about September!
Quick question, when do you/ do you stop sterilising their milk bottles? I have honestly done this before but can't remember when you're supposed to do what Grin

I was told you don't need to sterilise after 6 months fuzzy. DH's new job is in Sheffield, we're hopefully moving to Chesterfield-ish so not too far from family but it's also a bit cheaper than Sheff. :)

We had a major nightmare yesterday, I was in the shower, DH brought Iz upstairs and didn't shut the stairgate properly, then he didn't watch her, so she tumbled all the way down the flight of stairs. Words cannot describe how awful it was, and how much I could have killed him for being so careless. We took her straight to A&E and they were wonderful with her, she's got an egg-sized lump on her head and a few bruises but is otherwise unscathed and just a bit clingy which is perfectly understandable. DH is now in Germany with work and is totally cut-up about what happened. I do trust him with her, I really do, but I've always told him that he must watch her and it's so clear that he doesn't "get" it. I was supposed to be going to Barcelona next month, booking it tomorrow night but I'm pretty much 100% that I'm going to tell my friend I just can't leave the country. I just hope she understands and we can go somewhere that I can get home from which I absolutely will not need to as I have put the fear of god into DH.

Sorry, me stuff over. How are the girls jjkm?

gallicgreetings · 13/02/2012 21:55

We stopped sterilising at 12 months. I stopped being uber cautious after 6 months for the reasons jjkm states - Alys puts anything and everything in her mouth. I mostly carried on because I'm a bit funny about milk but we don't bother at all now.

Well....we do sterilise the bath toys after my little angel has pooped in the bath.

Poor Izzy! I hope she's ok. If it makes you feel a bit better, I bet your DH is SOOOOO upset and will be careful in future.

Fuzzywood · 14/02/2012 06:57

Thanks, I was only still doing it as I'm a bit wary with milk but it's such a faff think I'll stop now. We had the same bath toy/ poo issue last week.
Poor Iz, glad she's ok. These things are so easily done, sure he'll be much more careful now. I can understand why you're nervous about leaving the country now but to be honest he'll probably be so cautious for a good while now it might be the best time to do it.
Hope both girls are well soon JJKM

Flubba · 15/02/2012 18:46

Oh poor Izzy - (and your poor DH _ in a weird way) - they bounce back well
though. You should go to Barcelona though. L has also tumbled down the stairs - but we have no stair gates and he'd recently started walking and thought he could walk down the the stairs Shock . Lucikly DH saw and dived after him and he only managed one Blush somersault and not the whole flight. Awful though. He's a right bruiser and is permanently banging his head on things and is therefore permanently bluey/yellowy/green on his forehead :(

I haven't sterilised at all with L, but mainly because there was nothing to sterilise. I've just stopped BFing (when he turned 1) and he finally realised milk form a tommee tippee was also quite nice - so I am now freeeeeeeeee! (although I was ridiculously sad about it at the time).

Doing an NCT sale on Sat - hoping to sell a whole load of baby stuff [sob] that I haven't been able to hand down.

gallicgirl · 15/02/2012 20:52

I sold my moses basket to someone at work. I felt quite sad about it when I was preparing it and almost had second thoughts. Weird, isn't it?

Flubba · 15/02/2012 22:35

Yeah it's weird - I think it's lucky in a way (?) that DH has said no to any more children because it's allowed me to not have to make the decision myself. Still very sad though :(

RunningKatie · 16/02/2012 20:27

Still crossing fingers here for another DC, not crossing legs as that wouldn't help Wink

Very envious of your freedom Flubba, I really wanted Iz to stop feeding in the night before I switched her pre-bed feed for milk but I'm not sure it'll ever happen!

We have a tooth at last too, so that's another incentive to drop the bf'ing. It came with very little drama, except for the stairs tumble which probably eclipsed any teething whinges.

Evan grinds his teeth sometimes as well, it's a horrible sound but don't think there's much you can do about it.
He's a bit lucky to still have teeth today. He was standing on the bottom of a plastic toy shopping trolley then lent on the handle and tipped forwards. I caught his chin about 5cm off the floor. As he was holding onto the handle he'd have face planted onto the kitchen floor. I'm considering wrapping him up in bubble wrap every morning as he's a hooligan and has absolutely no fear. It's a dangerous combination Grin.
I've lent my Moses basket to a friend and it'll get given to another friend if/ when they have a second. We're definitely not having anymore so happy to give stuff away. I have kept a few bits and pieces though for sentimental reasons.
I've started my next sewing project Bubba, some hanging toy storage for Evan. I'll shout for help soon report back when I make some progress Wink
