Hello ladies, hope you found your way over here okay!

Our little newborns are newborns no more! :( :)

Hopefully a while yet before teething and weaning starts, but there's definitely a lot of wiggling and squealing going on already :o

Yay go Alexa! Ev is babbling away more and more but none of it makes any sense yet, tis very cute though! Sounds like your friend will be a great role model for Bridget.
Have decided I will do my own cards this year, thinking of getting DD to help out some how (that'll probably include glitter though Hmm last year's Christmas glitter got used for quite a while by DD. We took a very sparkly Evan to his 5 day check as she got a bit excitable Grin.
Hoping to get a better night tonight, having been sleeping really well E decided 5am was a suitable wake up time for a few weeks then last night decided 1am until 3am was play time . Why do they choose the week that DH is away to play up?

gallicgirl · 15/11/2011 23:05

I swear it's an age thing as DD has been waking up around 5 and taking forever to settle back down. If you look on the sleep thread, every other post is along the lines of "help, my 9MO has stopped sleeping"! :)

Can I ask if and when you use calpol when LO is teething? I know it's ok to use when they have a temperature but do you use it if you think they might be in pain because they won't shut up and go to sleep?

Saw 2 spots on Alys's hip at bath time. Hoping to God it's not the pox.

jjkm - your friend sounds like a great role model Grin - it's so good to know that physical setbacks are no longer the disadvantages they used to be.

Flubba · 16/11/2011 05:38

My cousin's boy has CP and the first couple of years were quite exhausting for them all with various physio sessions and work on his lungs, and although he still needs the lungs 'helped' fairly regularly (he's 13), you wouldn't know to look or talk to him what he's been through. Another friend of the family has it and has a baby boy himself now.

Oh poor Alys - let us know how she gets on. DD1's first bout of chickenpox were literally just two or three spots on her back, but miserable with it. I even took her to the doc's Shock because I hadn't realised it was the pox. 2nd time round she was covered in them within hours of the first ones appearing.
Yes, yes, yes to calpol as a pain reliever for teething. We wouldn't sit around with sharp things attacking our gums without a bit of medicinal soothing. Have you also tried baby bonjela, ice on the finger and then rubbed on the gums or what I call baby cocaine?

The Boy is always waking at 4:50 at the moment (hence being awake now). Normally he can go back to sleep while I give up and do a bit of sewing or MNing! :o It does mean I'm asleep by 10pm most nights. Bit worried with the party season approaching, I've got a couple of nights out booked, but not sure I'll last the distance :o (luckily Hmm The Boy's still feeding at 10pm so I'll have an excuse to come home early to feed him).

Evening

We are back from our holibobs and I am now a married woman! Grin I would post a photo but the USB cables all seem to have run away in our absence. My darling PIL came over and shampoo'd all the carpets for us whilst we were away, then my DH walked a nice stinky cat poo all through the house when he got in. Gahhhhhhhhhhhhh.

Iz was a miserable little one on the wedding day, she cried so much and so many of the photos of her looking really sad. She came down with a cracking cold when we went away, so that plus all the strange people holding her probably explains it. The ceremony itself seemed a little chaotic with 8 babies, another 5 kids plus assorted parents trying to shush them or keep them confined to the room. Still, it was supposed to be a family event so it was all fine, I don't remember my vows but I do remember laughing a lot.

gallicgirl · 19/11/2011 21:34

Laughing is good.
I'm sure it'll all come flooding back when you see photos.
I hope you had a lovely time on your hols and poor baby. Colds aren't nice.

Ooo custard.

Fuzzywood · 23/11/2011 08:31

Lost you so just book marking. Welcome back Running Grin

Flubba · 28/11/2011 09:46

Hey all! Anyone still around? Did Alys escape the chicken pox galilc?

Welcome back MrsRunning :) :)

waves to tumbleweed

RunningKatie · 29/11/2011 08:21

Oooh, tumbleweed, how pretty! :)

We're still here, I am being a bad mother and ignoring all health visitor advice. I have started Isobel on one cup of cows milk a day as I'm still BF'ing 9 times a day and it's got a bit much. She spits out less milk than she does formula so I'm classing that as a result, and we seem to have dropped the mid-morning BF which is also good. I'm going out for the day to the spa on Dec 14th, so this is partly for my sanity but also so DH can look after her without them both having a meltdown.

DH has also managed to get a new job, so gets some redundancy pay from his old job and starts the new one in Jan. Yay! The bad news is that it's at least an hours commute from here, so we're probably going to move. Sad

gallicgirl · 29/11/2011 11:14

Oh dear, moving is stressful. We're looking to move back north next year assuming we can sell our flat and find jobs.

Alys escaped the pox, thank you. At least I think she has, it's been over 2 weeks now so we're probably ok. She's been off her food for about a month and we seem to have the longest pre-teething symptoms ever going on. If at least 4 teeth don't come through at once, I'm going to be pretty annoyed. (Only had 4 hours sleep last night so I may be a little unreasonable about this matter).

Great news on the job running. I hope it all goes smoothly and you get to enjoy your spa day too.

Great news about the job Running.
We've been teething for what seems likes months as well. The top front 2 teeth are just about through so hopefully they'll be through properly soon .
How's the twins feeding now JJKM? are they still getting everything through tubes? Hope the new kind of milk works.
Bit fragile today as out with my nct ladies (DD's group) last night. Hoping Ev does some decent napping today so I can have a sneaky sleep too Grin.
How are everyone's Christmas plans coming on? Starting to get sorted here, turkey ordered yesterday so one important thing done!

Good to know we're not alone, fuzzy.

Need to take photos of DD as Cutest Christmas Elf Ever (tm) but she's all spotty from dribbling so I've asked a friend to airbrush out the spots. Who'd have guessed her first digital manipulation would be at such a young age? Grin
I put her down for a nap at 4:30 and she's still asleep. (now 6:45). what do you think the chances are of her sleeping through til morning?

Hmm

Christmas is pretty much done here as we visit our families early on and spend Christmas at home. Need to put a few photos in albums for the grandparents and decide what to have for Christmas lunch.

gallicgirl · 01/12/2011 12:52

Had to rescue DD from waste paper bin today. I guess she's feeling better.

Fuzzywood · 01/12/2011 15:07

Excellent work mini Gallic! All of our waste paper bins are now on high surfaces out of the reach of the mini wrecking ball, looks like some weird interior design statement Grin. Did she go in head first Gallic, I seem to be forever pulling Ev out of the toy boxes. He's so funny at the moment we hardly baby proofed anything with DD so no drawer locks or things as she wasn't interested in them at all, will have to do it this time if we want any crockery to remain in one piece.
That's good news the girls are progressing on the food front JJKM.
I did a bit more Christmas shopping yesterday so getting there. Also did the kid's letters from Father Christmas today through the NSPCC website, also means a charity donation so feeling worthy!
me and DH are off to London for an adult only weekend tomorrow to celebrate our 5th anniversary (was actually last week but we had Ev's christening last Sunday). I'm sooooo looking forward to 2 lie ins.

She pulls it over and tries to eat the contents. We live in such a tiny flat and there's hardly any room to store things so I'm constantly moving stuff out of her way.

Adult weekend sounds fab but I bet you don't sleep in! You got anything good planned? Weather is pants at the moment so consider indoor stuff.

Flubba · 01/12/2011 19:13

Snurk @ "indoor stuff" :o Blush :o

L has fallen into his big toy boxes on numerous occasions :o. Poor thing is covered in spots at the moment, but it's not measles nor chicken pox so at least I can relax on the school run a bit.

gallicgirl · 01/12/2011 19:39

Blush and I was trying to avoid references to themes of an "adult" nature!

Alys is spotty too. I suspect an allergy to something though. Might take her to clinic tomorrow just in case. God, I must come over as a total PFB-type worry wurt.

Fuzzywood · 01/12/2011 21:36

Don't know what you could possibly be referring to!?! In all honesty I'm so tired I seriously am looking forward to some decent sleep (don't tell DH that though) Grin
Think I'm going to start putting the crazy one in bubble wrap, he's a danger to himself! I put DD's picnic table which has benches attached (sounds huge is a little toddler thing) in front of the glass coffee table to stop him bashing himself so he climbed onto the bench, then onto the picnic table to get into the glass table! As for his behaviour in the bath tonight....
Ev got spots when I started using cow's milk on his cereal (have used it for cooking with no issues) so back to using formula for now. Will try again soon. You're allowed a bit of pfbness every now and then Gallic.

Flubba · 01/12/2011 21:47

Ev sounds brilliant - just as well the two of them aren't friends as they would wreak havoc together. L has a great big egg of a bruise on his forehead from his recent antics, and spends most of the day climbing the stairs, but stopping every few steps to stand and clap himself Hmm :o

He's also recently discovered the game of dropping things (out of the bath, out of the highchair etc etc) and making the sound "uh-oh" which he seems to find Highly Amusing. :o

Fuzzywood · 01/12/2011 22:24

I'm considering making a padded room to let him play in, send L round for a while if you like Bubba Grin Very impressed with L's clapping, I love it when they learn to clap as they get so excited about it. Ah the game of mummy fetch, a favourite here too!
I've also convinced myself that he's started saying mamma (its clearly just a random noise that sounds like mamma but hey Smile
Have posted a photo from the christening last week, in my completely unbiased opinion he looks too cute!

He does indeed look too cute. Looks spookily a bit like L too! Hmm :o

jjkm sounds like A had A Lot Of Fun with the undone tube!! Poor you! :o

gallicgirl · 02/12/2011 23:17

Lovely photo of Evan there, fuzzy. Is that you with him?

Oh gosh jjkm, I'd have panicked so much but I guess you're shown how to clean and change feeding tubes. Let's hope it doesn't happen again.

I took some photos of Alys today. I was hoping for some arty shots but the little blighter kept moving, wouldn't smile, wouldn't look at the camera....managed to get a few decent shots anyway and I've posted one on my profile.
