Hello ladies, hope you found your way over here okay!

Our little newborns are newborns no more! :( :)

Hopefully a while yet before teething and weaning starts, but there's definitely a lot of wiggling and squealing going on already :o

Hey! Good work that girl! L is still highly amused at himself and his wobbling on two feet standing. Doesn't seem to think walking is for him just yet (thank God|!), although is cruising around the sofas, and trundles along like a little old fat man pushing his little wooden ikea chair as a trolley. :)

Aching today. Big time. :o

Oh yay JJKM
Everything on high shelves then LadyB
Ev just starting to stand but he gets around so quickly commando crawling on our wooden floors that I think it'll be a while before he walks. I will however be putting the Christmas tree behind a barrier of some sort or it'll be on his head in 2 minutes. He's so mischievous at the moment. He's today crawled into the fire place, whacked his head crawling under the coffee table, turned the burglar alarm on (twice) and emptied 2 bins. I thought we were going to get thrown out of Jo Jingles yesterday after pinching another baby's dummy, taking an instrument away from another one and generally being a menace (tis quite amusing though) Grin.
Enough with the exercise Bubba, admittedly I did exercise in an attempt to look passable in a bikini last month but in the end resorted to siting a large baby or 3 year old on my lap for any photos Smile

Flubba · 10/11/2011 22:19

hahaha - love Ev's escapades today. Sounds fun! You won't need to do any exercise chasing after him! :o

oh bugger though, hadn't thought of L and the Christmas tree. That'll be interesting to deal with :o

Seriously need to get my stomach back to some semblence of a non-blob. I blame my fat babies and nothing to do with the biscuits and cakes I scoff on an almost daily basis Hmm

Fuzzywood · 10/11/2011 22:39

Hmm tummy needs work here too. It was quite good at the beginning of my holiday but then I ate lots of good food and drank lots a bit of rum. Will have to get of my arse soon though as I signed up for a half marathon in April whilst very drunk the other night.
I have a plan with the tree, we have a baby cage play pen that also opens up so you can make a barrier with it so think it'll have to go behind that to keep it out if the hooligans reach Smile
I definitely think it was the fat babies though!

*off

gallicgirl · 11/11/2011 14:15

Looked after friend's DS on Wednesday and my friend should be babysitting DD tomorrow night while DP and I go to a long awaited gig in London.

Friend's DS might have chicken pox.
HV advises no contact as the pox can be quite nasty for such small ones.

shitshitshitshit

Flubba · 11/11/2011 14:47

Oh poor you gallic

If it's any consolation, DD1 also got chicken pox before she was 1, although only actually got it quite mildly (and then got it again really badly a year later).

IIRC incubation is anything up to two weeks, so there's no reason why you shouldn't go to the gig tomorrow night. She won't definitely get it either. No way of knowing and nothing you can do about it now anyway.

:(

I don't know if they do!

gallicgirl · 11/11/2011 16:26

Just checked the red book and we don't immunise against chicken pox in the UK.

She's had contact with the boy twice within the incubation period. She's been off her food for a few days so I called the HV to ask about that and she said it's probably either teeth coming or infection. So then I mentioned about friend's son with possible chicken pox .

Might try to line up an alternative babysitter just in case.

Fuzzywood · 11/11/2011 17:42

Yep no vaccine here, DD had it when she was just shy of 2 I think. Not a really bad case and no lasting damage. Problem with under 1's as Bubba experienced is they're likely to get it again. I had it when I was 20 and don't think I've ever been so ill so personally I don't think it's a bad thing to get at some stage in childhood. The incubation period is so long before the spots come out it's really difficult to avoid. Ev has been in contact with it in the last few weeks but nothing here (yet).
I'm absolutely shattered today for some reason. Hopefully I'll get a lie in tomorrow though as pre-payment for DH being in California all next week with work Envy

Fuzzywood · 11/11/2011 17:43

Hope you get to go out Gallic who you going to see?

Well it sounds like it's defo the pox so will decide tomorrow what we do about Alys. Don't really want to expose her again if I can avoid it but like you say, the incubation period is so long, you never know when you've come into contact.

Hopefully going to see Alison Strauss and Union Station at Royal Festival Hall.

Flubba · 11/11/2011 21:35

Sorry gallic I hadn't realised you meant that your friend's DS would babysit with her too. I thought you meant Alys had come into contact, so you were worried about going to the gig in case she was ill. Doh Blush

gallicgirl · 11/11/2011 21:49

Nooo, if it was just that, I wouldn't worry as she seems fine but my friend's DS sounded quite unhappy when I called earlier. Poor boy.

Another friend whose children are teenagers and therefore already had it (I hope!) has agreed to sit for us. DD has only met her a couple of time but she was quite happy when we visited a few weeks ago so I hope it goes ok. I guess this is the drawback of not living near to your family.

LadyBuzz · 13/11/2011 07:38

gallic I hope you made your gig and enjoyed it!

DS2 got the pox at 10 weeks and never batted an eyelid, hopefully she won't get it though.

jjkm great news about Bridget!

fuzzy we had the tree in the baby jail for DS2 but we no longer have it so i will most likely be barricaded with furniture!

Fuzzywood · 13/11/2011 09:39

Just back from dropping DH at the airport and he's not back until Friday so I'm steeling myself for a long week! particularly as Evan has decided that 5am is an acceptable time to be awake .
I think our baby cage opens up somehow to make a straight barrier so that's the current plan. Must get up in the loft this week to check what cards and wrapping paper we have before I buy things we don't need. I made all my own cards last year, no way that's happening this year. Thought I could get DD to make wrapping paper though. Thinking I might just get some plain brown paper then use potato or other stencils for a pattern. Anyone tried it before?
Right better start getting organised for the village rememberance service today.

gallicgirl · 13/11/2011 11:48

I did my own wrapping paper one year. Just used stencils I think...can't remember but it looked good.
I have a brave stupid plan to make my own cards unless I find a good deal on photo cards.

We made our gig and had a lovely time - Southbank was rammed though. Very busy. DD was very well-behaved for my friend and charmed the whole family so happily, we now have an extra babysitter Grin

Flubba · 13/11/2011 15:53

We're doing our own Christmas cards this year - little green Christmas trees on fuschia pink or purple for us! :o

I'm busy getting ready for a craft fair on Saturday Hmm. I have seven million little things to sell, so hopefully I'll be able to sell something at least.

Thanks jjkm and very impressive with Alexa's first word! L has just started waving and now waves at everybody and everything and we feel bad if we don't wave back every time! :o

My crafts are mostly Christmas tree decorations (felt hearts, Father Christmasses etc) but also some 'crayon rolls' 'wheat warmers' and the like. I think I have some pics up on my profile which I put there for another thread. The idea initially was to do homemade presents for friends and family, then I saw the craft fair stalls advertised and thought I might as well give it a go. Quite nervous though! Confused

gallicgirl · 15/11/2011 11:38

Hooray for twin progress Grin. It must be a relief when they reach milestones. I was thinking about Bridget's physiotherapy and I remembered seeing something about a type of therapy that's used in Europe for children with cerebral palsy. It's called conductive education - info here. Hopefully Bridget is all ok but maybe the methods might be useful?

After several weeks of being unsettled and hardly eating for the last week, DD finally slept through last night (brief waking at 6am for dummy) and this morning has eaten TWO weetabix with fruit puree. Admittedly there's a fair bit smeared over her table and face but I'm very impressed.
