Hello ladies, hope you found your way over here okay!

Our little newborns are newborns no more! :( :)

Hopefully a while yet before teething and weaning starts, but there's definitely a lot of wiggling and squealing going on already :o

The poor child katie ! Shock Sooo many things wrong with what the dad was saying they'd do. Unless there is an allergy likelihood, restricting the kinds of food is ridiculous, and making a rod for their own backs later too. And what about all the other food groups? Where's the kid getting all the nutrients it needs. Ooh makes me Angry when people are so misguided and yet think they're being clever!

WRT BFing "too much" that's an odd thing to say IMHO. How often are you still feeding Izzy? Babies still need a certain amount of milk per 24 hrs. If it's any help, I feed L first thing in the morning, then again briefly mid morning (after his 1st nap, although I'm trying to get that one to stop), after lunch, briefly after his 2nd nap (although again, trying to cut that one down), then bedtime and again for a dream feed around 10/11pm. If I've been out, and therefore not there for the post-nap BFs, he's been fine without me, so I know those are just quick comfort/drink feeds, rather than a 'need'.

He does scoff his food though. My top tip would be to offer her the boob after a meal. And I always try and make sure the last meal of the day is 'substantial'. HTH a bit.

naturalbaby · 06/10/2011 21:02

ooo that story reminds me of a couple of stories where the parents of babies around this age fed them a really restricted diet, with v.unhappy outcomes. the children were malnourished Sad

i have a boob monster too who still won't touch a bottle and was awake from 4am-6am. not really hungry at first but after 2hrs of nodding off, waking up, nodding off, waking up we were both starving hungry (and v.grumpy).

I was just wondering today if i'm not feeding him enough during the day - he has a morning feed, misses the mid morning feed because of various things with the older kids but gets 2 feeds for his lunch time nap then bedtime. he ate so much yesterday but is so active during the day he just seems to be much more hungry than my other 2 who weren't as active at this age. today's new trick is climbing stairs Confused.

Hey, where are you all?

DH scraped the car (ALL the way along the side - two doors and body work to boot) along a posh car at the weekend (ALL the way along the posh car's side - two doors and body work to boot) Angry :( Angry There go my 14 years' no claims bonus Angry :( Angry

DD2 turns 3 at the weekend Shock and have to get myself sorted for the Invasion of the Tiny People :o

What are you all up to?

gallicgirl · 10/10/2011 10:58

Busy trying to decide how to buy a kitchen. Need to get it looking smart so we can sell the flat. REALLY don't know what to do.

Also busy looking after DD who stands at every opportunity and can't safely be left alone any longer. We're going to a messy play group this afternoon so hoping that will tire her out.

You're brave having a party for 3 year olds. Hope it goes well.

gallicgirl · 10/10/2011 10:59

Oh and how annoying is the car thing? How the held did he manage that?

FlubbaBubba · 10/10/2011 11:02

Do you have to buy a whole new kitchen? Lots of property programmes show a massive difference just by changing a few handles on the cupboards and possibly changing worktops or tiles etc?

Car thing was just getting out of a parking space. Confused

gallicgirl · 10/10/2011 14:38

Bloody hell, and I thought I was bad at parking! Mind you, it sounds like perhaps the other car was partly at fault if he was that close.

We considered just changing the doors and worktops but it really is old and tatty and we want to change the layout a bit. We're just weighing up how to pay for it. Floor is also costing more than we hoped.

FlubbaBubba · 10/10/2011 14:40

The other car was parked and therefore stock still. Hmm

Boo to a new kitchen - we thought a new oven and DH's car antics were pricey :(

gallicgirl · 10/10/2011 15:33

It's the only way we'll sell at a decent speed. It's a small two bed flat so very much in the first time buyer market - along with hundreds of other properties so it's going to have to look good and be reasonably priced if we want to move in the next year :(

naturalbaby · 11/10/2011 17:30

i felt like bit of a thread killer up there, sorry for the misery post.

we're looking at houses vaguely thinking about moving (to a house where we don't need 6 stair gates across 5 different sets of stairs!) and the ones we looked at have loads of potential but need a bit of work so nobody else is interested. we're getting kitchen people out to draw us a plan for if we stay put so we can then trot off to ikea to copy it! it's all open plan so we'd have to redo the floor for the whole kitchen and dining room.

i was gutted to loose my no claims discount a few years ago, but dh is so good at shopping around for deals it's not too bad now.

Oh jjkm it's no wonder you were all (nearly) in tears - I've had a lot less reduce me to tears when there are Little People involved. Hope Bridget is okay.

I've done a lot of shouting today Blush :( Very Bad Mummy Emoticon. Must remember to pretend I'm nice Hmm

RunningKatie · 11/10/2011 21:45

I am still here, sorry to post the story about the smug SAHD and then run, but my darling girl has given up sleeping for any stretches and I'm like a zombie whilst DP is flying off here, there & everywhere for work.

Reading back now, so will try and answer what you asked! :)
Gallic - i logged every feed over a few days and I was feeding 10 times a day which felt excessive, and a lot of them appeared to be scooby snacks. I've tried to space the feeds out to 3 hourly but now she's waking 2 hourly through the night so I may well have shot myself in the foot with that one.

jjkm - the fruit/veg diet was because they have a history of bowel disease in their family, but the way he was answering our innocent but increasingly worried questions kind-of told us that they have made all these choices themselves without discussing with a health professional which we all found quite scary.

flubba, not that it helps but I reversed into my neighbours car as they parked it at the bottom of my drive, they do live 3 doors up, and moved not long after that! Blush

jjkm, I'm in awe of how you manage with the girls, I hope tomorrow is a better day and that you can get Bridget to the Dr's easily.

I left DD with my Mum today when I popped to work for a couple of hours, I came home to find the little poppet in tears, thankfully some Mummy cuddles soon remedied the situation.

FlubbaBubba · 13/10/2011 16:54

Anyone else got a clingy whinger? (that sounds rude! :o) The Boy has turned into one over the past week. Always looking for the boob, and really not enjoying getting yet more teeth. Desperately sad when I leave the room too :( (thought I might have a bit of grace before that stage started).

DH's stupidity is costing us an immediate £500 plus knock-on costs year on year of about an extra £200 annually Hmm Angry. Considering our budget is making us shop on basics only, no beer etc, it's a hard pill to swallow.

Anyone seen or heard from Fuzzy or LadyBuzz or any of the other originals recently? We're gradually down to just four or five of us here! :(

naturalbaby · 13/10/2011 21:11

I've got a big clingy whinger. no sign at all of any teeth anywhere, but spends all day collapsing on the floor in tears if i move away from him! he's not making it easy for me to book appointments knowing he'll be so demanding on the babysitter with a 2yr old who you can't take your eyes off for a second and a 3yr old.

ouch to the car bill. we've been ebaying and doing quite well but has backfired a bit with returns and complaints. we're wondering about a car boot sale now before it gets too cold.

I've seen a few other posts about babies that seem to be the same age as ours and always wonder about 'recruiting' them to this thread. the other parenting forum i used to use mainly works on birth clubs so there are much bigger numbers of regulars.

RunningKatie · 13/10/2011 22:23

Another clingy whinger here, she has now figured out how to turn around, then gets herself stuck and complains till I go and fetch her from being wrapped around the gym, a table leg etc......

Ouch to the car bill Flubba, that's painful.

I've been ebaying too Natural, I won't take returns but I try to be ridiculously honest in listings which could well backfire on me at times! :)

Our NCT group imploded somewhat last night, the SAHD took umbrage that some Mums suggested softplay as it's "unclean, germ-ridden, etc. etc." and felt his hosting was being snubbed. They appear to have flounced off in a major hissy fit now.

It's my hen do on Saturday, please think positive thoughts for DD and her Daddy. I'm going out at 4.30, and rolling in drunk around 11pm, after cocktails etc. I hope she takes some formula, I don't want to get sozzled but I want to be able to relax and enjoy myself without worrying she'll be screaming for a bf as soon as I walk in the door.

gallicgirl · 16/10/2011 17:45

There's a hurricane coming!

FlubbaBubba · 17/10/2011 06:54

Have you been blown away? Shock Wink

We had a lovely weekend with DD2's 3rd birthday - we had a tea party with my family (DD2's cousins, grandparents etc) on Saturday, thankfully hosted by my parents at their house as it was shared with another cousin who has a birthday tomorrow then yesterday we did her party with friends; 15 kids and three babies in our little house, but one very happy three year old, AND the jelly castle (we still have no oven :() worked well as a 'cake' (and the candles even stayed in!!) All would have been better if she hadn't been pinned to a broken flowerpot by a heavy fallen birdtable at my parents' on Saturday (bumps to front and back of head ! ), and had The Boy not fallen out of our house onto his head yesterday ! :( >>very bad mummy emoticon

naturalbaby · 17/10/2011 20:51

[henvy] that is not on fuzzy ! barbados is on my to-do list as well, hopefully sooner rather than later!

i know this is a bit early but am looking at christmas dress up clothes/outfits for B, never done it for my older 2 but might treat them all to a festive t-shirt at least this year.

am also in need of an all in one waterproof suit so he can crawl outside while the other 2 run round at the park/garden. i love the idea of suiting them all up in waterproof fleece suits and sending them out in all weathers, they have such fun outdoors but i get proper miserable when it's cold and windy.

LadyBuzz · 17/10/2011 21:26

I'm here!!

I'm back at work and its exhausting, lord knows what i'll be like in January when I go back 3 days Grin

The DSs seem to have parties coming out of their ears aswell, I'm never in!

natural i love babies in waterproofs getting stuck in.

bubba happy birthday DD2, sounds like she had a great time.

fuzzy Envy there was really no need to share that!!

K is trying to walk and likes to stand on her own and wave her arms about, she is always so proud of herself, she just looks very funny she is still so little!
I think she has dropped to below the 2nd centile (although I haven't had her weighed properly - bad mummy) so i'm bound to be in trouble at her 8 month check - whenever that may happen, but she is never ever still!

Flubba · 17/10/2011 21:38

Ooh. 8 month check. Must think about that!! (Do we book it ourselves or do we get contacted?)

Welcome back LadyB we missed you! Wink
