Hello ladies, hope you found your way over here okay!

Our little newborns are newborns no more! :( :)

Hopefully a while yet before teething and weaning starts, but there's definitely a lot of wiggling and squealing going on already :o

zone purée???? WTF? 'some purée' clearly

RunningKatie · 26/09/2011 21:07

Iz woke up 4 times last night, I'm wondering if she's not eating enough solids. DP tends to give up if she starts to protest, whereas I give her other things (usually yoghurt!) to keep her going. So, I've fed her today and we'll see how she goes tonight. He's away till Friday now so I'll have a good go at stuffing her little face experimenting. I have discovered that she loves dried figs, she empties the insides and leaves me with the skin.

Whilst DP's away I'm on a mission to sort out the photos off our camera's, we've taken loads but not downloaded them, and the archivist in me is itching to put them all into labelled folders whilst we can remember things.

FlubbaBubba · 27/09/2011 15:57

Hope you're feeling better fuzzy so you can get back into your Purée Zone :o

Ooh Running poor you. L woke up again a couple of times last night so know how you feel; just hope it isn't the start of the 8m sleep regression stage I've been reading about especially as I haven't even had a whole week of sleeping through yet

Well I've just survived a trip to Ikea with the three sprogs. We made it out alive and all in one piece :) Flowers and Wine for me methinks

RunningKatie · 27/09/2011 20:42

8m sleep regression? Oh the joy, I don't want to even think about that. The good news is that she woke up twice last night so fingers crossed!

Well done on surviving IKEA Bubba, good effort with 3 sprogs.

naturalbaby · 27/09/2011 22:28

i was thinking about ikea with my 3 the other day, i saved dh's credit card for another day though.

going through another tough night time patch. repeating 'it's a phase, it's a phase' is just not getting me through this one! he's waking up every 2 1/2hrs and all he wants is boobies. gah! just when i was really trying to get him on bottles. he screamed the house down for hours earlier so need to sort his routine out. i've got gina ford and the no cry sleep solution ready and waiting, just need to work out what i'm going to do Sad

gallicgirl · 28/09/2011 00:00

Gina Ford???! If you ever fancy an ear-bashing, try mentioning her name elsewhere on MN.....then run away really quickly!

Good luck with whatever method you choose though. I can only imagine how frustrating it must be when LO doesn't sleep regularly. DD hasn't settled well for last couple of weeks and has been waking a couple of times in the night. Turns out she's been teething and a little tiny very sharp tooth poked through this afternoon. She won't let me look at it but will happily bite my finger so I know it's there. Ouchie.

Running, I'm not yet sure when I'm coming up north but you may well be away when I do. I'll send you a PM and my number when I do decide so we can attempt a mini meet-up if you are around.

DP and I have been discussing moving North again to be close to family and take advantage of lower house prices. Jobs market isn't looking great though so not sure what to do - might have to be a long term plan.

naturalbaby · 28/09/2011 14:21

I've been doing Gina Ford on and off since day 1 and it's been working really well, but am bit of a hippie baby led mummy at heart so it's all gone a bit pear shaped now! we're all miserable cause we're not doing the routine! anyway, he slept from 10:30-5:30 last night and had some formula willingly today! it was cold!! he likes all his food cold as well. he is a strange chap. maybe because he is a winter baby?

FlubbaBubba · 28/09/2011 15:08

GF isn't for me but each to their own, and you do what you need to do to get some sleep IMO.

L now has a top tooth too to finally start adding to the four on the bottom. Went to playgroup this morning where he devoured and scalped a few other children Blush

We have just made 50 chocolate krispies for my fundraising thingamy tomorrow, and about to attempt fudge again (as long as the kids can occupy themselves). Apparently hot, boiling sugary liquids + children is not a good combination. Top Tip from me to you all there. Free of charge :o

naturalbaby · 28/09/2011 19:16

I was pretty much in tears with the GF book with dc1 because i was 'failing' to get the routines but with 3 under 3 i needed something to stop me loosing my marbles! He has been very content so far so i'm bit of a convert. He's still in our room though!

B tried to crawl all over the 3month olds at baby group yesterday. he v.rarely sees any other babies so it was bit of a novelty for him!

we're going to the macmillan coffee morning on friday. i should really treat my kids and make a batch of something easy, they love baking just to crack all the eggs open for me. flubba you just reminded me of an AIBU thread about hot drinks and babies/kids which was one of those that got a bit out of hand after a dozen pages! on the one side: you should never have a hot drink ever in a 50 foot radius of small children, or just not drink hot drinks at all, the other side saying the benefit of breastfeeding was being able to have a cup of tea at the same time!

i've got family up north thinking about moving down a bit because none of the family can afford to go see them v.regularly and they only come down a few times a year.

That's impressive jjkm! :) My sister did sign with her kids and she was always convinced it helped diffuse a lot of baby stress as they could actually communicate what they wanted.

RunningKatie · 29/09/2011 21:40

Hmmm, operation DC2 may have to be put on hold. I got notification this morning that I have a place in the London marathon. You can defer one year but even if I got pregnant in Jan, DC2 wouldn't arrive till October, and then I'd need to train to run 26 miles after that. Soooo, might have to discuss with DP delaying by 4 months. Hmm

FlubbaBubba · 29/09/2011 22:59

Presume the marathon's in April again? So you could start trying in the New Year, no? Or were you hit hard by sickness etc? When had you hoped to try for #2? If you were to get pg now (baby would be born next June/July), you could defer for 2013 and you'd still be in a good enough condition to get going for 2013?

Congrats on getting a place though :)

FlubbaBubba · 29/09/2011 23:01

Apologies for ? overload :o

naturalbaby · 02/10/2011 20:18

exciting news about the marathon, it's on my 'to-do' list!

FlubbaBubba · 02/10/2011 20:38

Blush ahem - it was on my To-Do-Before-I'm-30 List ahem Blush

Fuzzywood · 02/10/2011 22:06

It's on my to do list before I'm 40 (a marathon not necessarily London), time is running out on that one too! Back up to nearly 5 mikes on my last run, some way to go! I'm getting old too fast!

gallicgirl · 02/10/2011 22:57

I have no intention of running for anything!

Did I mention that DD finally has two teeth? Poor thing to get two together along with a mother who had to be bitten before she noticed.

RunningKatie · 03/10/2011 21:24

Iz still has no teeth, although I had a dream that she woke up with 3, did have to check this morning just in case.

I was expecting to get rejected from the marathon ballot again, I'd got it all sussed that I'd run it in 2014 on guaranteed entry after my 5 rejections. Having discussed it with the saintly DP, we've agreed I'll go for it but we'll also start trying for DC2 as planned in Jan. Then if I get pregnant then I'll defer, and if I don't then I'll run further than I've ever run in my entire life. For. Fun. Hmm

gallicgirl · 04/10/2011 00:12

If you're in a running club, I'm sure you'll get loads of support. Anyway, isn't the London marathon one of the flatter ones? When I was at school my friends and I used to watch the Potteries marathon from the top of one of the steepest of the 7 hills over the course. We were cruel like that Wink

FlubbaBubba · 04/10/2011 07:12

I didn't know about the five rejections rule that puts paid to my plan to just lie and tell people I didn't get a place :o :o

L has six teeth, although one of the top ones (two at the top) is visible halfway up the gum after he cut himself on a hard plastic toy while he was headbanging Hmm - hope the gum will heal and cover it in time?

Hmm, interesting NCT meet today, we had the obnoxious smug SAHD there today whose child only eats pureed fruit and vegetables. They have decided to keep him off dairy, berries, meat, fish, etc. etc. until he is one. He is also not going to a nursery until he can talk, so he can tell them if anyone is mean to him. We were all a bit Shock

Hope your DH is feeling better jjkm, sounds very sensible that the twins had the vaccine. We don't seem to get it here for the under 5's which I didn't really realise last year.

I spoke to the HV yesterday at weigh clinic about my little boob monster, she reckons I'm bf'ing too much, so need to try and restrict that and instead increase the solids. That worked marvellously well last night when DD woke up 10, 12, 2.30 and then 4.45 through to 6.45 Hmm. Tonight she's barely touched her tea as well, although I have tried to watch her to see if she really needs a bf or if it's just me doing it through habit. I'm supposed to be going out tomorrow night for dinner so have bought some formula cartons for DP to administer if he's able to.

gallicgirl · 05/10/2011 22:22

hahahahahhahahahhaha talk about PFB! DId you manage to keep a straight face? Makes me realise what a great bunch my NCT group are. (hope I'm not the weirdo in the group Shock)

Do you feel you're BFing too much? Take a look at the BLW site for advice about BF and weaning (even if you're not BLW, it's still useful). I find with Alys that she has some days or meals where she eats hardly anything. It really is about timing when she has food some days. I really don't worry about it as I know she's getting most of her nutrition from formula still and it's all about learning to eat and new textures. If she's teething or going through a growth spurt, that can affect how she feeds and sleeps. Do you have a breast-feeding support group locally? I'd be inclined to trust their advice over a HV!
