Hello ladies, hope you found your way over here okay!

Our little newborns are newborns no more! :( :)

Hopefully a while yet before teething and weaning starts, but there's definitely a lot of wiggling and squealing going on already :o

Don't think the river of snot is helping the chances of a good night sleep, poor little man. He really really hates having his nose wiped too which is very funny he gets all huffed up with a big frown which I just have to laugh at Grin. DH away tonight so if it does get bad I'll stick him in with me, assuming DD sleeps in he own bed tonight.
I was looking at our wedding photos the other day as DD asked to see them, made me want to do it again. What's your dress like Running?

naturalbaby · 19/09/2011 22:39

so glad to see other babies getting up to as much mischief as mine - trying to crawl up stairs, still having at least one night feed, gets hysterical at the sight of a bottle and throwing himself all over the place at nappy time.

so extra stair gates are out, bottles are back in the cupboard. am still eyeing up buggies on ebay despite the very large collection in the garage.

dh going away for a few days on business next week so am gearing myself up for screaming baby+toddler bouncing off the walls+preschooler demanding to play card games all day.

My DDs weren't moving this early jjkm - DD2 crawled at 9m and walked at 12m, and DD1 crawled at ??? Blush and walked at 13m. L is clearly a little monkey :o

gallicgirl · 20/09/2011 11:31

Glad your DD is ok fuzzy. The same thing happened to my niece when she was just toddling but she vomited while having a seizure and then stopped breathing. Luckily my BIL knew how to clear her airways. Because of where my sister lives, they sent the air ambulance! My nephew was very impressed - the chickens, less so. She was running around within hours none the worse for her experience but everyone else was pretty scared.

Also glad to hear DD isn't the only one wriggling like a maniac during nappy changes. She's spending most of her days recently trying to stand up, especially in her cot and it's beginning to drive me nuts. I don't know whether to leave her to learn in her own time, encourage the crawling position instead or help her to stand in the hope she'll get less obsessed with it. Trouble is, she looks so pleased with herself when she does manage to drag herself to standing, that I can't help but smile.

FlubbaBubba · 20/09/2011 13:21

Aww it's so lovely when they look pleased at themselves at some achievement - L's most recent favourite is shaking his head - which he often does when being cooed at by old ladies in the street, who say "ooh, aren't you gorgeous?" and they're a bit taken aback when he shakes his head in reply, thinking he's actually communicating with them! :o

Did Evan's tooth come through Fuzzy ?

Fuzzywood · 20/09/2011 18:57

Thanks Gallic, she's all good now.
Just the very tip of the tooth is just through Bubba, hopefully it'll be through properly soon.
Evan does the head shaking sometimes too, think he likes how it makes him feel slightly dizzy. He was a right show off in town today waving at lots of people then giggling to himself.
No real movement here yet JJKM at least not forwards, he does now get up on his knees quite a lot so probably won't be long.
I weighed him on my mum and dad's scales at the weekend and he's 21lb, which if right putshim between the 75th and 91st percentile. I thought he was getting a bit on the large side Grin.
Anyone up for a meet up at some point. Whereabouts would suit? Tuesdays and Thursdays would be best for us.

FlubbaBubba · 20/09/2011 19:28

I am in W. London but can travel - although with DD1 in school in the mornings, the afternoons would be better as not so many time constraints if you lot can cope with my many, many children joining in

If it's mornings, then Tuesdays suit me better. No idea where? Where is everybody else?

RunningKatie · 20/09/2011 21:57

You could all come up to the sunny East Mids for a meetup? Wink

Fuzzy, dress is ivory, strapless etc. V pretty!

DD seems to have realised she's moving a little, she pats the floor in front of her and then excitedly shuffles forward. This does appear to have resulted in more face plants than before but hey ho.

naturalbaby · 21/09/2011 13:48

Hi all. No sign of teeth in B's mouth but plenty of grizzling. He's a bit unde the weather and covered in a rash which i'm thinking/hoping is from a vest that was washed in different washing liquid. not eating anything all day then awake more at night. think i'm going to have to sleep in a separate room with him before dh moves out. grumble grumble grumble! but he's doing such cute crawling that all is forgiven.

we're in the midlands runningkatie

my favourite time of day - all 3 boys asleep!

RunningKatie · 21/09/2011 22:14

Really natural? For ages I thought I was the only one! :) I was planning on stalking the mummies up near the lakes when we go up there in November.

@Katie - well we do know a nice cake shop in your vicinity....Grin

Actually probably heading up to Midlands in mid-November so could arrange something, unless of course you've decamped farther north by then.

@jjkm - 30oz seems a lot. Is that 5x6oz? DD has 4x6oz and often doesn't finish all the bottle but she is eating solids three times a day. Is Bridget still tube fed? I guess it's hard to judge how much to give. Apparently though the guidelines on the formula box are exaggerated. Paed told us DD only needed 5x130ml (don't use oz, sorry) but that might be assuming 3 meals a day as well because we'd just started weaning at that point and paed may have assumed we were feeding puree.

FlubbaBubba · 22/09/2011 10:32

Sorry - no idea jjkm as still haven't managed to get L to take a bottle, so can only estimate how heavy or flabby my boobs are after a feed :(

Guess what?! L slept 7pm till 5am (with a boob-dreamfeed at 10pm) for the last three nights!!!! A few wobbles in the night but was soothed with a dummy. Sooooo excited that I may be heading towards a decent night's sleep!

Fuzzywood · 22/09/2011 14:15

Yay Bubba Smile
That does sound quite a lot of milk. Evan has about 4 7oz feeds a day though generally doesn't finish all of at least one of them. He does also have 3 meals a day with 2 courses for lunch and dinner (that'll be why he's a chubby boy).

Well we have our first tooth Smile we also have bronchiolitis Sad so have a poorly boy. Having to keep an eye on his breathing so not getting much sleep. Hopefully he'll be better soon. It's not looking good for the winter bug season if both of my little people have had fairly serious bouts of I'll health before October.

I'm happy to travel for a meet up. Bubba it would be lovely to meet your brood. Like I say Tues or Thurs best for us. Though it'll either have to be before the 5th October or after the 20th as we're away for a couple of weeks.

fuzzy Sad to the bronchiolitis hope it clears up soon for you.
Yay to the first tooth though!

bubba we also have a wriggler at nappy change time, she is a little horror!

Lots of crawling and pulling up here and today she tried to climb the shelf Hmm she just looks so tiny to be standing, I weighed her last week and I think she is still around 16lb still despite going great guns with the solids now, I think she will just be a little dot!

running feel free to stalk when you are up north I don't think there is any one else up my end that is still about anyway!

gallicgirl · 23/09/2011 10:11

jjkm - can your paediatrician help?

Alys probably doesn't eat a lot. Breakfast is usually half a weetabix with milk and fruit or a slice of toast. Lunch can be something like half a baked parsnip or oatcakes or bread with some sort of topping, veg sticks with humous. Tea can be pizza toast, finger food, pasta and something, roasted veg.
Saying that she can quite happily demolish a whole pear or a banana at one sitting.

We don't puree but are baby led weaning so it's about learning how to eat and explore textures and flavours rather than stuffing lots of food down them. I'd be wary of putting solids down the tube but maybe less milk? Not sure. Do keep offering bits of food to play with though.

RunningKatie · 23/09/2011 21:08

Wuhoo Gallic! We're away from Nov 7th to 20th, will we miss you? (Any burglars that are reading this, please note we have house sitters! Wink)

Sorry to hear about the bronchiolitis Fuzzy, I know a couple of the NCT babies have had that in our group but both are very healthy little tots again now.

Isobel doesn't eat huge amounts, I worry that she eats far better for Daddy than she does for me, especially as he works away so much. He tells me that I worry far too much and it's very much about tastes at the moment.

naturalbaby · 24/09/2011 20:47

we go up to the lakes a couple of times a year to visit family, we're due to go october 1/2term but not sure if we can afford to stay overnight so maybe no time for meet ups.

bronchiolitis is rubbish. B had it at 8weeks old and we had a night in hospital for observation to be extra cautious.

B just went through a phase of not eating anything but now scoffing fruit (am adding full fat yoghurst and babyrice to fill him up and hopefully get him sleeping through) and lots of finger foods. dh passed him a bit of pizza earlier and he loved it, chomping away with no sign of teeth is v.cute.

jjkm do you have a community nurse or anyone to help with the feeds? the kids i used to work on tube feeds had one. the only thing we ever put down the tubes were milk feeds and medication, and yoghurt drink i think for one. the one we were trying to get eating more was mainly having stuff he could dip and suck off breadsticks and yoghurts. he liked really strong/unusual flavours like ambrose rhubarb custard pots and taramasalata dip! those t.v programmes where they try to get older kids with eating issues to eat just play a lot with food. at toddler group the other day B got his hands in a tray of coloured cooked pasta and it went straight in his mouth so i gave him some cooked spaghetti earlier and he spent ages waving it about!

FlubbaBubba · 26/09/2011 07:01

I can't imagine you can put food down a baby's feeding tube?

L eats anything most days, but his absolute favourites are spag bol, and also blackberries - so nearly all his clothes are stained orangey/pink Hmm :o

Doing a Macmillan Cancer fundraising coffee morning thing this week (except in the afternoon) and, if everyone comes who's been invited, may have about 25 kids here Shock :S, and our oven is on the blink, so we may not even have any cakes to offer Shock Shock

FlubbaBubba · 26/09/2011 07:04

Gahh, just read that back and the 2nd line looks all smug. really didn't mean it to be like that, apologies if I'm coming across like an inconsiderate twat. :(

Hi all I've caught the bug the kids have and feel bleurgh.

Anyway enough whingeing. JJKM, I'm mix feeding Evan, so zone purée and some blw type stuff. I basically make usual type family food then mash it now where as I used to blend it. So things like chicken casserole, spaghetti bolognase, beef stew, roast dinners. Only thing I watch is salt levels so I use tinned tomato and low salt baby cooking stock cubes. When we started weaning though the favourites were things like pear, banana, sweet potato, butternut squash stuff like that.

We now almost have 2 teeth, not too unhappy about it but is dribbling like mad. He's still got a horrible cough but he's such a happy chap it doesn't seem to bother him.
