Hello ladies, hope you found your way over here okay!

Our little newborns are newborns no more! :( :)

Hopefully a while yet before teething and weaning starts, but there's definitely a lot of wiggling and squealing going on already :o

Ooh Natural you've gone and done it now! This thread is jinxed, any mention of sleeping babies usually results in a major regression Grin. Might just be me though.

Running DD had it at a bit older but didn't bother her too much. Second LadyB's recommendations the aqueous cream is much better than the lotion.

Not much of a domestic goddess here either though I am getting better. Planning DD's birthday party so will be doing the food for that but have found someone who will hopefully be making the pirate cake DD wants. I've also found some Peppa Pig candles as requested by DD. She's a lady who knows what she wants!
I'm also going to start trying to do some more sewing, I have a machine that only really gets used when my mum visits Blush. I'm going to start with some bunting for the party (going to choose my own material as if I ask DD who knows what weird combinations we'd end up with).

FlubbaBubba · 20/07/2011 23:02

Oooh Fuzzy I made bunting and it took me blinking ages of blood, sweat and tears :o My Top Tips (free of charge to you my lovely) are def. not to try and be a clever arse and do double sided as it almost fecking killed me , get a generous depth of binding tape (and don't try any fancy silky ribbon).

Love it now though, used it for parties, christenings, camping and street parties. have even lent it to others :)

Fuzzywood · 20/07/2011 23:24

All advice gratefully received. What will probably happen is I'll get in a mess and my mum will rescue me

FlubbaBubba · 21/07/2011 08:07

fuzzy I'd settle for my four-year old being able to blow her nose, instead of sniffing it all back up again Angry (my two year old has cracked it no problem by the way Confused)

Fuzzywood · 21/07/2011 08:20

Tee hee, weird how some kids can do it and others can't. DD is pretty good but I was having to wipe snot off her arm yesterday. Along with all of the stuff Evan had wiped into my clothes. He seems to think that I'm a cross between a tissue and teething ring at the moment. Oh the glamour of motherhood goes on and on Grin.
Off to Lords to watch the cricket today so all keep your fingers crossed it doesn't rain all day Smile

gallicgirl · 21/07/2011 10:31

My DP is 37 and still sniffs. He thinks it's better to hold on to the snot for some reason - probably worried about losing his brains.

Sooo, I added up all the bedding I wanted from Vertbaudet, included a lampshade (despite having spotlights) but couldn't be bothered to figure out the storage combination I wanted and it came to the grand total of...... £150 Shock

Wonder how I can persuade DP that it really is necessary honest oh and look how cute the ickle squirrel is?

have fun at Lords fuzzy. Maybe the rain will be an excuse to sit in the bar and drink pimms?

Fuzzywood · 21/07/2011 11:07

Like your thinking Gallic not raining at the moment but there's always a reason for Pimms. Will get DH on the case shortly Grin

RunningKatie · 21/07/2011 21:03

Pimms! Yay, i had some on Saturday at a naming day ceremony. Hope you had a good time Fuzzy

Incidentally, the mum at the ceremony stapled her bunting together Wink

Please don't hate me but DD slept last night from 9.45 to 7.15 and then 7.30 to 9.15am! No sign of the pox yet.

FlubbaBubba · 23/07/2011 09:17

Ooh I went down the Pimms' route last night at my 'leaving do' - two jugs of the stuff. Head. Ache. Loud. Children. Hmm :o

First tooth has cut through! Finalement! It's the tiniest jagged edge of one but it's there, which should make the rest of this tooth at least, plain sailing.

FlubbaBubba · 25/07/2011 20:28

looks for tumbleweed

gallicgirl · 25/07/2011 21:02

Help!

I'm turning into Gillian McKeith, get me out of here!

All had a good weekend? We went to a music festival up in Hertfordshire attended by lots of our friends. It was great to introduce DD to people who'd not met her before. We had beautiful sunny weather too.

Fuzzywood · 25/07/2011 22:15

Hey I'm here, been a bit busy and every time I tried to post I got interrupted!
All good here, though I'm taking DD to Legoland tomorrow, I need to use my annual pass one more time before I get my money back. I suspect it's going to be he'll on earth. The summer holidays kind of crept up on me. Evan is going to spend the day with his Grandma so I'm hoping he'll be on hisbest behaviour.
Glad you had fun at your leaving do Bubba, any joy with the bottle for L yet?
Festival sounds fun Gallic, who was playing?
I've been making chicken purée for Evan tonight, first taste of meat for him. He better like it now!
He's so funny at the moment, keeps trying to get up on his knees which just shoves his nose into the ground. It's very funny apart from him getting hugely frustrated.

RunningKatie · 26/07/2011 19:17

I am reading wine tasting notes, must convince DP that we need samples, reading about wine isn't the same is it? Grin

Does raspberry sorbet count as one of my 5 a day? It's gorgeous.

Enjoy Legoland Fuzzy - hope it's not too busy & chaotic.

gallicgirl · 26/07/2011 19:31

Have you tried Laithwaites running? Always had fabulous wine from them and excellent service. Sorbet might count as one of your 5 a day if you eat enough of it.

Fuzzywood · 26/07/2011 19:45

We get a British Airways wine box every 3 months as FIL gets it but lives in the States so for some reason can't get it delivered there.
Sorbet definitely one of your 5 a day Running.
Fab day at Legoland, not as crazy as I thought it might be. We go on the little rides though as DD only little still so I guess the bigger rides may have been a lot busier. Was great to spend time just the 2 of us as DD been finding it a bit hard having to share her mum. She adores Evan but I think she misses spending time just the 2 of us. I'm knackered now though Grin

travispickles · 26/07/2011 22:45

Hi all! God I am soooooooooooo tired at the moment - ironically had a good night last night as well (oh dammit just invited trouble). Think it's the months of sleep deprivation catching up. Always nice to hear all your news. Our car broke down in the middle of a forest yesterday and we ended up having to be carried out on the back of one of those breakdown beasts. Fortunately only 80 quid (only! But had visions of having to buy a new gear box so it was better than that!) But by the time we got back (at 8pm) Saskia was very tired and hungry Sad. Had the slightly embarrassing experience of singing lullabies to her in the truck while DP and ex-cop turned recovery man listened on in horror at my warbling Blush

LadyBuzz · 27/07/2011 12:33

Kali has bronchiolitis so we have had a busy and worrying couple of days.
The Dr said she will most likely have asthma and she is starting with eczema too Sad so inhalers etc etc prescribed and we need to keep a very close eye on her breathing for a few days Sad

fuzzy glad you enjoyed legoland, the boys are massivley excitied to go to Blackpool for Nikolodean land (so am I secretly Grin)

Oh no! Poor Kali. I hope it goes quickly and she doesn't develop asthma. If it helps, I had hideous eczema as a kid but grew out of by the time I was 5 or so. Keep an eye out for milk and egg allergies though as they're all related.

Fuzzywood · 27/07/2011 16:37

Oh LadyB that's rubbish. DD had the same thing and at not quite 3 she has grown out of the eczema and the number of times we have to use her inhaler now is hugely reduced froma year ago. As far as I understand it they do quite often grow out of both things. It's horrible though when their breathing is a concern.
Nickelodeon land sounds good, I'd be excited too Smile.
Busy day here, DD had her latest appointment at the hospital for her eyes this morning, we thought she might have a slight squint. They've been seeing her for a while now and final diagnosis is a slight stygmatism (sp) so we've just been out choosing glasses. Poor little lamb had to have drops in this morning to dilate her pupils and they're still huge now so she's all blurry and the light is hurting her. Oh well the glasses will hopefully fix things pretty quickly as it's a very weak prescription. Its going to be strange seeing her in glasses though. Anyone want to start a sweepstake on how long it is before she breaks them Grin

gallicgirl · 27/07/2011 20:01

Aw bless. At least kids now have a huge choice of glasses. I started wearing them at 9 and the NHS glasses came in 3 colours - pink, blue and clear maybe. All Joe 90 style :(
Hope your DD gets used to them quickly.

DD is sleeping really well in her room now apart from a little hiccup last night. Wish I'd bloody done it weeks ago now!

Fuzzywood · 27/07/2011 20:55

Glad to hear the sleeping is going well Gallic
Both me and DH remember the horrible NHS glasses when we were kids so I pretty much let her choose her own and paid the extra for them. I figure if she chose them then there's a better chance she'll wear them. DH bless him has been telling her this evening that all the cool people wear glasses (he does as does my mum who DD adores). Seems to be working as she's really excited to pick them up when they're ready.
Absolutely knackered so vegitating in front of the tv, Jo Frost extreme parental guidance is scaring me Grin

gallicgirl · 27/07/2011 22:29

Ah Jo Frost is great because I sit there saying "I'd never do that, what idiots" and it generally makes me feel better about my parenting skills.

You know, I could just demolish a box of After8 mints or Matchmakers. Are you allowed to eat them when it isn't Christmas? Been super hungry today.
