Hello ladies, hope you found your way over here okay!

Our little newborns are newborns no more! :( :)

Hopefully a while yet before teething and weaning starts, but there's definitely a lot of wiggling and squealing going on already :o

Congratulations LadyBuzz! is it an exciting/inspiring job?

i've been very naughty and while B was sitting in the bouncy chair watching big brothers eating I gave him a chunk of pear and apple to suck on then a rice cake. He was a v.v.happy bunny but heartbroken when the 'meal' ended. I did blw with ds2 so know it will take a few weeks for him to be eating enough to start filling him up properly, but not got round to making him any purees yet. he choked on a bit of pear yesterday cause it was too soft and a bit broke off so i know he's too young to start blw properly but he was much better today.

FlubbaBubba · 06/07/2011 15:34

Wow, well done!! Really pleased for you :) Wine

LadyBuzz · 06/07/2011 15:54

thanks everyone, the job is in Clinical research in Oncology and will involve patients taking part in drug trials and genetic trials. Its an admin job but it sounds really interesting and they want me to learn to take blood samples Hmm. I'm quite excited about it.

I really want to try BLW with Kali but she doesn't really put things in her mouth much of the time (other then her fists which are rammed in constantly) i will just have to give it a go!

gallicgirl · 06/07/2011 17:04

Someone on another thread pointed me in the direction of this forum

Been for a long walk hoping DD would go to sleep. Instead she was awake, blowing bubbles and was just generally a bit bored until 100m of home when she zonked out. Just in time for her feed. :(

Suppose it gives me chance to go steam some sweet potato. I keep looking at the jars of food and I just think they're really weird combinations. Not sure what I will feed Alys on though because inspiration fails me other than steamed veg and slices of fruit.

LadyBuzz · 06/07/2011 17:38

Gallic DS2 loved toast cut into fingers wit the crusts off and was really good with it right from the start.

Rice cakes are good as are them huge organic crisps you can get specially for babies, although they do say from 7 months on the pack.

Rusk teddies were also a big hit in our house.

Its amazing how quickly you forget would you did!

RunningKatie · 06/07/2011 17:58

Lovely pics Gallic :)

I've ordered the blw cookbook from the library as the woman who runs bf club recommended it. Must get some inspiration before we start.

And, many congrats LadyBuzz on the job, excellent news.

gallicgirl · 06/07/2011 18:19

Well HV recommended we stick to fruit and veg only until she hits 6 months in a couple of weeks.

If you want a laugh, give baby a big piece of melon then get your camera ready. Grin

Alys loved the sweetness but it was too slippy to grip properly so she was chasing it around the table.

LadyBuzz · 06/07/2011 20:45

Ah yes I forgot DS2 was over 6 months when he started so it didn't matter too much!

Oh bless that sounds very cute!

FlubbaBubba · 07/07/2011 14:34

Hmmm: Jools Holland tonight in Kew. It's been pissing down ALL day so far!! :o Hmm

shoot me now, DD has been screaming pretty much nonstop since lunchtime. She has finally stopped and I feel wiped out.

I have managed to get her booked on a baby massage course so that's good.

jjkm - we're starting the process at the end of the month too,

Bubba, hope it has dried up there, we've got grey skies but no rain now.

FlubbaBubba · 08/07/2011 09:15

How are things today running?

take a brolly today gallic!! ground will be quite wet by now, but it was brilliant last night, and L boogied away with his groovy embarrassing mum :o and slept through the fireworks (and they were LOUD!)

RunningKatie · 08/07/2011 18:16

Not so bad today thanks Bubba, took her for a swim which zonks her out beautifully! Grin

Fuzzywood · 08/07/2011 23:14

Hi all, just logging on to say we're still here and all back in one piece! Long week here, been feeling crap since the bug hit.
Great job news LadyB.
Have started weaning here (spoon fed as that's what I did last time), Evan loves it, we're already up to 3 'meals' a day as the rest of us can't eat without him yelling at us, it's quite amusing for a while then somewhat deafening.
Hoping this weekend is less eventful than last!

neepsntatties · 09/07/2011 08:42

Hello all,

just wanted to offer some hope to those struggling with bottle refusers. My dd finally took one the other day and the day after that. She didn't get one yesterday but going to try again today so fingers crossed we have this issue sorted.

Am not weaning yet but it will be soon. Was thinking about blw too but I am really keen for her to be eating well when I return to work so I don't have to worry much about expressing milk for her. My understanding is that it is a slower process and can be harder to fill them up when blw? Might be wrong though. The idea does appeal to me though.

FlubbaBubba · 09/07/2011 09:54

Ooh neeps that's brilliant news! You must be so relieved! Did you do anything different? Have you booked yourself a five-day spa away? :o

The Boy is now scoffing three 'meals' a day as well, mostly puréed crap but had a good sog on some toast fingers yesterday. Couldn't stuff them in fast enough!! :o

Glad you're slowly on the mend fuzzy :)

neepsntatties · 09/07/2011 23:35

We took a break from the bottle for a bit and let her forget about it. She was getting distressed by it. We were trying a cup, it was working but a bit of a faff. Tried the bottle again and she just took to it so fingers crossed that is it Expressing is hard work though!

RunningKatie · 10/07/2011 17:21

Oooh, a spa - just imagine that. I have a voucher ready to be used and I'm planning on a day in September/October, when DP will be in charge! Given that he's just taken DD out for a walk in her buggy to fetch milk and she came back screaming I am a little nervous about this. Grin

I need an idea for a small but nice naming day gift for one of the NCT babies. Any ideas?

LadyBuzz · 10/07/2011 19:46

boy or girl running?

bubba was it L's christening today? if so i hope you had a lovely day.

Lovely weekend here, hen night on Friday and I stayed out until 3AM Shock then took Kali to a fairy day yesterday with her very own minature fairy wings Grin
then all 3 at a party today. Im exhausted now, just can't take the pace these days Grin

FlubbaBubba · 10/07/2011 20:32

Hi, yes, L's christening today - was really lovely thank you. He was very well behaved, service was actually very nice (and brought a tear to my eye at one point) and party afterwards was fab. Bought myself a gorge new dress (I'm not a dressy person nor a shopper, so it was a bit of a splurge) and when I sucked my tum in I didn't look too bad :oand in fact here is a pic of me in it Wink
3am!!! You dirty stop out Envy Wink :o
I'm up at 3am too, but not for the same reason! :)

Running I was given a sweet lullaby CD with DD1's name sung on it by an NCT friend (i.e. "Go to sleep, Go to sleep, Go to sleep little Imogen.." actually really quite sweet and she still listens to it 4 years on and is wowed by the fact it sings directly to her :) Other popular gifts I've received have been a little baby cutlery and bowl set. Very sweet and not too pricey.

FlubbaBubba · 10/07/2011 20:34

That is to say it's a proper CD, not with my NCT friend singing on it! :o

LadyBuzz · 11/07/2011 11:24

bubba wow you look fab Grin Glad you enjoyed your day!

I second the bowl and or cutlery idea, all 3 have had some lovely ones as christening presents.
I would avoid money boxes as although they are lovely my 3 have 5 each!
I got a personalised blanket for Kali off my niece (ebay) i think and she said it was very reasonable and is lovely as she has an unusual name and i doubt i'll ever find anything in the shops with it on!

gallicgirl · 12/07/2011 18:10

hey flubba, Kew was lovely and sunny for us. Very relieved as it had peed it down all morning. Alys wasn't too keen on the ear defenders but did wear them for most of the gig. i think they're a bit tight as she kept hunching her shoulders to push them off.

Weaning is going great guns. I'm totally ignoring the paediatrician's advice to introduce foods slowly because I'm so excited to introduce Alys to new foods fed up of steaming parsnips . She's not really refused anything yet but I wouldn't say much is actually being swallowed. She's having great fun though.

Fuzzywood · 12/07/2011 19:43

Hi all. Weaning going great guns here too, he cannot get enough.

He's now rolling both ways (was just going left) so I can't block him off anymore, i feel the return of the baby cage play pen is imminent. ... I've also got the baby walker out of the loft as he loves to be upright and holding up for long is impossible as he's such a heffer now. I know some people don't like walkers but DD loved it and Evan seems to be going the same way. He's only managed to accidently push himself backwards so far which surprised him quite a bit!

I need to find food that's not orange to give him though, I'm gradually staining all his bibs, clothes and my clothes with various combinations of purees which all seem to be orange!

Still haven't organised his christening must get on with it.
