Eek it's going so fast!

Well my night out has been cancelled so it's not an urgent rush round the shops but we are going to have z look for some summery clothes anyway.

Glad you're settling back in ILGH. Shame about the school situation, a stress you didn't need, but well done on the job front.

DD likes the elderly too- she has an especial reverence for one of her grandads as he's pretty old and frail. When he holds her she gazes up at him and never wriggles. It is said that babies have a special affinity with the elderly. something about them having just 'arrived' from somewhere and having a knowledge of where the elderly may be going....American Indian folklore I think.

Well, DD didn't sleep through last night Grin but a week of sleeping through did wonders for my energy levels!

NoHunIntended · 28/05/2011 19:19

Great to hear from you, ILGH. Glad you are doing ok, despite not really wanting to move. And Silver, welcome back to you too!

DS is still in with us (same bed/co-sleeping). We have no intention of moving him until he says he wants his own room - I'm a big fan of the attachment parenting style - slings, extended BFing, BLW etc, it really suits us. He sleeps for long stints, stirs occasionally for a feed, then we laze about! :)
No teeth yet, but must be close - he's been gumming everything in sight - including my poor nipples - ow!

And he is walking with the aid of a walker or holding onto our fingers - I don't think it will be long til he is walking on his own.

He has lots of toys but his favourite things to play with are whatever he is not meant to be wrecking - computers, cameras, phones - he especially loves cables too.

DH is painting the spare room this weekend. Has turned into a mammoth job though as he's discovered a patch of damp from where some plant has wrecked the wall from outside, so he's pulled off all the plaster and is pointing and re-plastering, and he's also decided to rip up the carpet and work with the floorboards, which need serious sanding and the gaps filling - so a one-day quick job has turned into a three-day DIY thing. Will be worth it, that room has been neglected for ages. We've been watching lots of Grand Designs, I think he got all inspired!

All your talk of crawling and tummy rocking etc makes me think that my little man is years away from that stage as he's only really rolling on his side and on the rare occasion he has flipped himself on his gum he screams as he hates it. However he'll stand in his walker and move around in that happily. Not sure he is making conscious decisions on moving or the direction but I often find him at the foot of the curtains pulling threads out! He also wants to play with the tv remote and my phone. It's a nightmare one of those stages I guess.

He also has rotten cold, still no teeth.

Today we had no lunch as not well, he was offered but refused. He had for tea avocado and grated cheese. Most went on the floor on in his booster seat then he had a chocolate pudding and a yoghurt. I too am not enjoying weaning and have no idea why anyone would start early unless they have to. Such a faff.

Time for bed! Night!

TribbleWithoutACause · 29/05/2011 18:01

Silver My DS is like that, just quite happy flapping around the place. I seriously think if I gave him enough sugar he'd take off. He says Mama and Dada now though and is more interested in how he can get us to do his royal bidding rather than working out how to get things for himself.

ILGH I'm sorry it's been a bit of a pain with the school situation, have they settled well?

NoHun DS is still in with us, I don't really want to put him in his own room yet as he still wakes up in the middle of the night and it's more than I can cope with at the thought of having to actually get out of bed to settle him at 4am in the morning.

I've also noticed he's starting to display some of my personality traits as well. I'm pretty sure thats not a good thing as I'm a little bit bossy andvocal and a tad stubborn. DS has a tendency to want to stand on my lap. We were at a friends the other day and he was stood up on my lap when suddenly he starts shouting as if he's barking orders at everyone. We've also started having arguments over the blinking spoon at dinner times as well. He wants it, I don't want to give it to him (as he flicks food at me). An argument ensues, he gets the spoon and I get covered in dried yogurt.

All fun really.

Just spent an hour looking after lady next door who fell in the garden.she's ok but was scary at first when she couldn't move. Need to update my first aid & get the kids some training.

OP posts:
TyNobdieJigz · 29/05/2011 18:05

Hi ladies,
Sophie is currently tip toeing in her walker, she will be able to reach the floor very soon.

TyNobdieJigz · 29/05/2011 18:07

HJ how awful :(

HarrietJones · 29/05/2011 18:11

Luckily we were in the garden if we weren't we might not have noticed until the dog barking annoyed us Blush felt a bit helpless. Cuts & stuff you do something. If someone can't move there's nothing. Especially when she stopped talking. V pleased to see ambulance people who were brilliant. Her husband arrived home supersede too.

OP posts:
TyNobdieJigz · 29/05/2011 20:16

Bless her at least you were there.
A family friend of dh's fell in the garden the other month. He is widowed so lives alone. He woke up the next day, still in the garden, crawled in the house, had a cup of tea and went to bingo Hmm He is in his 70's.

HarrietJones · 29/05/2011 20:32

Shock There's some tough people about

OP posts:
TribbleWithoutACause · 30/05/2011 09:58

ty I know I shouldn't but I must admit I did giggle at the bingo bit, sounds like a tough cookie.

SeaShellsHasSandInHerShoes · 30/05/2011 10:15

Hello :) just back from camping-blaming cold but the dc's loved it. We thought dd would crawl this weekend, but she didn't-still managed to eat twigs leaves and mud-good thing I believe happy children are muddy ones!!

Good to hear all your news

Ilgh-glad things are finally getting sorted for you, what happened with your dc's school? I hope the private one is ok, though it's horrid to feel forced back to work. I am too, as we will
Only be able to buy a family home if I'm working.

Nohun-good diying! We never seem to get time (or rather never make the time lol)

Hj and mock-I hope things sort out re retrn to work.

I'm applying for work-it's a tough process, I definitely do not have to upper hand :( oh well, it will happen!

NoHunIntended · 30/05/2011 11:11

Sea, well, I've only been here seven years, so thought it was about time we did something! :) To be fair to DH, he's only been here for two years.
I have just become increasingly frustrated with our lack of space, lack of easy storage and easy access to clothing and things. I do count our blessings as we have a roof over our heads, more than many people, but just need to make the most of the space.
I keep watching Escape To The Country, and Grand Designs, and dreaming!!!

Good luck with all the job hunts. I am on ML until Christmas (not all paid, but mostly (includes accrued annual leave)), at which point I'll hopefully be pg again, or they'll offer me a decent redundancy. OR we'll have won the Lottery! :)

Ty, what is jigz all about?

HarrietJones · 30/05/2011 18:05

Seashells, how does camping go with littlies? Dh almost has me persuaded but I'm a bit dubious about containment! We've looked at tents today but we are going to practice first. Dh has a two man will try without dd1/2 & xh says we can borrow his6 man for all of us. Thinking of lake stuff initially rather than holidays, where we can kayak ( going for a practice at ghat soon too as I haven't for 2 years!).

OP posts:
SeaShellsHasSandInHerShoes · 30/05/2011 18:27

Come join us in the camping board hj! It's great,Ds1 is a bolter but even so we cope and he loves it. Containment wise we turn our extra "bedroom" into a zip-up-able playroom and take our highchair. We used to take our travel cot, but coped without. Otherwise lots of picnic mats (though see above comment re twigs)

Good idea to borrow kit first and try though.

SeaShellsHasSandInHerShoes · 30/05/2011 18:28

Pmsl at pimp my potty-just seen that post, superb!!!!

HarrietJones · 30/05/2011 18:31

A bit scared of the campers Blush I'm a bit of a fan of showers & toilets &that's where camping falls down for me. I can cope with lack of showers if I'm doing outdoorsy things (spent my teenage years smelling of horses) hence the kayaking!

OP posts:
SeaShellsHasSandInHerShoes · 30/05/2011 18:36

Oh, good showers are rated highly over there, don't worry!

TribbleWithoutACause · 30/05/2011 18:44

HJ Oh wow you're a braver woman than me, I expect I'll be eventually persuaded that camping is a good thing. But after a couple of miserable experiences in a field in the middle of nowheresville with my 'bed' being the inbetween of two couch cushions I've officially given up on the whole idea.

Nohun We have lots of country round these parts, lots of trees and hills and stuff. Plenty of open spaces to escape to .

Seashells If you liked the potty, I found this <a class="break-all" href="http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=img.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2008/05_01/pramMASON3004_468x445.jpg&imgrefurl=www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-563083/The-ultimate-baby-bling--A-gold-plated-pram-sound-satin-interior-6-000.html&usg=__zB58eQbagOFFJCiLFJMz85POSOY=&h=445&w=468&sz=60&hl=en&start=0&zoom=1&tbnid=5yIEG-RCvPW6jM:&tbnh=145&tbnw=156&ei=wNbjTdG0DIHRhAedysDzBw&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dbling%2Bbaby%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DN%26biw%3D995%26bih%3D588%26tbm%3Disch&um=1&itbs=1&iact=rc&dur=578&page=1&ndsp=15&ved=1t:429,r:4,s:0&tx=71&ty=85" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">pram. Feast your eyes upon it's shininess!!

HarrietJones · 30/05/2011 19:45

Tribble-I've not braved it yet!

Got dd3 a little potty from Asda (£1!) to sit on when she's waiting for a bath as she keeps weeing on the floor or me. First time tonight and she was v confused over her bottom & a hole. It makes a good banging noise though!

OP posts:
SeaShellsHasSandInHerShoes · 30/05/2011 20:37

Oh dear god. That istruely a scary sight!

HarrietJones · 30/05/2011 21:24

WTF is that thing? It's like a Disney carriage!

OP posts:
tiredfeet · 30/05/2011 21:57

Love the idea of a pimped up potty- truly ridiculous!! And that pram is incredible! Imagine nipping out to shops with that Shock

ty that's an amazing story about your family friend. hj that sounds scary am glad she's ok

Been at a huge family gathering at dh's grand parents house today, it was such fun, I think ds liked being doted on my all his family.

TyNobdieJigz · 31/05/2011 15:01

He is a tough cookie and I also found the going to Bingo bit quite funny, he is amazing. MIL took him to doctors to get him checked out and he was ok :)
My married surname is Jiggle, and I get called Jigz sometimes Grin
Seashells, can I have a link to the camping thread, I want to go away this year. We went last August when i was 8 months pg with ds but havent been with a little baby Grin

TyNobdieJigz · 31/05/2011 15:02
