Eek it's going so fast!

Well my night out has been cancelled so it's not an urgent rush round the shops but we are going to have z look for some summery clothes anyway.

Sounds reasonable mocking. You'd have been paying it without promotion surely so the promotion will mean more money left over not less.

Welcome back silver :)

Thanks HJ! Hope to be a regular again!

HarrietJones · 25/05/2011 18:22

Currently arguing with national grid. Getting our work redone after the farce of 2 weeks ago & no one has turned up to reconnect. Complaint #2 in already

MockingbirdsNotForSale · 25/05/2011 18:32

Sounds like Fun HJ!

Just got the course timetable through, its got 5 external visits too and the minimum hours are 0830-1730. The community liasion officer has just emailed me a list of all nurseries and children's groups and also a list of local child minders which was very good of her.

Going to wait until I see DH at the weekend to discuss things.

DD had pumpkin scones, pork and apple burgers (recipe from BLW website), 3 strawberries, an apricot and a breadstick for dinner. How this tiny body fits it all in I have no idea. Pumpkin scone recipe from Nigella Kitchen, minus the salt. It had chilli oil and worcester sauce and she liked it!

tiredfeet · 25/05/2011 19:06

Gosh mocking what a lot to think about! Well done to your dh about the promotion though.

£300 a week for nanny does sounf bad given we pay over £40 a day for ds nursery and that's just day time hours. I don't begrudge it as the staff are great and so are the resources, or if you need evening care some nurseries and child minders might do this for an extra charge?

tiredfeet · 25/05/2011 19:08

hj any joy with national grid?

HarrietJones · 25/05/2011 19:33

Nanny does make sense.

No luck yet. Stomped my feet and they said tomorrow. I said I'm not in. They said tomorrow . I said complaint. They said' oh ok'. Someone is coming tonight. Not here yet & dd3 going to bed soon. They will be drilling, welding & then have to restart boiler /gas stuff. So she will get woken. I'm knackered, have a headache & have ran off to bed in a strop.

Mock I don't thnk your DH is yet aware of just how many bugs a child newly at nursery will get. The first few months ds had a cold just about every week once he'd been there a few weeks. And we were lu my in that be didn't catch any f the d&v ones where most places don't let you ba k untilnthe child has been sick free for 48 hours. In your scenario of no time off allowed, a nanny is the only viable option I think. Even if it's just for those eight weeks! I don't know about child minders and sickness but they may say the same thing. If you can afford it then go for it. It's not gong to be forever is it. I think your dh is is Being a bit unfair as you will be sole carer in difficult circumstances.

All the work talk is getting worrying! I still have my head in the sand about it. I feel even less like going back this time than I did after ds. Really the time has come to move on but it's difficult to think about it at themoment. Luckily my colleagues and de facto boss are great so there's no issues there. Have yi started yet tired? [memory like a sieve emoticon].

tiredfeet · 25/05/2011 19:48

Yep have started floozie, going well and job is interesting so pleased with it so far. Like you say though, ds has a cold already, and has given it to me (writing this from bed!)

hj what a stress they are causing, no wonder you are fed up! Definitely write a complaint, it will be cathartic if nothing else

HarrietJones · 25/05/2011 20:18

Complaints done Grin shit company and no choice over who you use.

Tired- glad jobs going ok.

Should hear next week where I'll be working
I have been looking at another job but it's 30 hours over 5 days (currently on 18.5 over 2.5) similar ph but working from home. Not sure whether to apply but it is only 250 words +CVConfused

OP posts:
MockingbirdsNotForSale · 25/05/2011 20:46

Ooh decisions decisions HJ.

Well, my wonderful wonderful friend who lives 30 mins from where the course is held has said we can stay with her and she'd take it as a personal affront if I did anything else. Also, her friend who works at the same place has a nanny and has offered to share her, so I'm going to touch base with her and check it out. I was nervous about being in my friend's hair for 8 weeks but she's absolutely insistent that we MUST stay. I now have a big smile on my face. Still need to sort something out for when I start the new job, but at least the difficult bit is done.

HarrietJones · 25/05/2011 20:49

Phew that's good to get one thing sorted mocking

OP posts:
TribbleWithoutACause · 25/05/2011 21:45

Mock Brilliant news!!

HJ Oh is there a chance you'll be moved then?

I wish I lived in the same world as some of the people at my work. I submitted my hours application back in March, yes thats right over THREE months ago. I rang today and asked if I could have my dates for childminder, basically got told a load of new stuff and that lots of people have had their flexi hours redone as they've moved a training day . I got asked if I had been told this by similar put upon plebbette today, I said no.

Well you could hear the sigh a million miles away; poor thing.

It's never simple is it, every conversation has to involve at least three different people and about ten emails. Must be nice to be laissez faire.

MockingbirdsNotForSale · 25/05/2011 22:19

Loving the word Plebbette Tribble. I just know we'd get along in RL Grin.

DD's been sleeping through the night since Saturday. Crossing fingers for another night!! Did you know that clinically, sleeping through before 10 months old is classed as a 5 hour period or more? So technically, she's been sleeping through a lot....my body disagrees and is loving her current 12 hour marathons Smile.

HarrietJones · 26/05/2011 07:54

Tribble- in theory they could offer me anywhere in the county. A colleague was offered the west coast ( from my office donor exactly near but most got their current one.

OP posts:
TribbleWithoutACause · 26/05/2011 21:50

HJ Gosh, when do you hear? Apply for the other job, if you're working from home you could get a Nanny/parents/however you'll do it and it might be easier on you from a PND point of view. I know you were worried about that one.

Mock Thanks!! Grin

Oh my goodness gracious me, one of my IL's does a sort of 'pimp my dummy' business through FB. Basically she puts lots of sparkly crystals on stuff and people buy them. Fair enough not my thing but good for her for making money out of it. Anyway, I've just seen that she's pimped out a potty with the word 'Princess' on it. Why on earth would anyone need a frickin pimped out potty??? Next thing you know, said child will be demanding <a class="break-all" href="http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=www.lussorian.com/uploads/images/Swarovski-Crystal-Toilet-75000.jpg&imgrefurl=www.lussorian.com/luxury/comments/swarovski-crystal-studded-toilet-75000/2007-11-30/&usg=__4NmyhID5GP_YzzT68EZDkR2bxqI=&h=437&w=300&sz=28&hl=en&start=0&zoom=1&tbnid=gr4dhovNCdscLM:&tbnh=124&tbnw=88&ei=t7zeTcqiGYy3hAeTyaG_Cg&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dswarovski%2Bcrystal%2Btoilet%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DN%26biw%3D1020%26bih%3D596%26tbm%3Disch&um=1&itbs=1&iact=rc&dur=125&page=1&ndsp=18&ved=1t:429,r:0,s:0&tx=55&ty=104" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">this.

MockingbirdsNotForSale · 26/05/2011 23:00

Ah Tribble did you not see My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding?! I saw a newborn on it with a massive pimped out dummy. Clearly the same sort of clientele would purchase a potty.....

HarrietJones · 27/05/2011 07:53

Shock at the potty!

Should hear next week on my current job.Reading the other job in more detail I may not have the admin side but it's not a lot of effort to apply so I think I'll try.

OP posts:
TribbleWithoutACause · 27/05/2011 16:34

Mock Actually I think when said 'pimped out potty maker' gets married it will be very much in style of MBFGW. Grin Better start pimping out DS's dummies, I don't want him to seem underdressed. Wink

shieldbug · 27/05/2011 19:38

Tribble lol at the toilet! mocking afraid I've watched all the MBFGW and remember said dummy.

Ds has 2 teeth! He's been in a lot of pain, but hopefully it will soon be over for a little while (or do the next lot follow quickly after?).
I was really interested to hear about others' feeding routines. Ours seems very similar, with a morning bf (about 8am), breakfast (baby cereal or porridge + fruit), bf about 11am, lunch, bf mid afternoon, tea, then bf before sleep. We have 1-2 feeds in the night, although whilst teething, he's needed lots of feeds for comfort, poor lamb. I feared I was giving him too much, but was reassured by your posts.

sam12 · 27/05/2011 21:58

Just been catching up on all your news as we have been away for a week in Greece. Was much easier with DD than I expected and I even managed to get some books read. DD seemed to love it and ate absolutely loads and was even good on the flight.
Lovely to hear your news Mummywilliams congratulations.
Very jealous of your sleeping baby mock. Have moved DD into her own room now Sad but she still wakes 2-3 times a night.

HarrietJones · 28/05/2011 07:46

Sounds good Sam! Bit jealous of your holiday but I hate flying so going to be putting off flying with a baby!

We aren't moving dd3 into her room til she sleeps through, especially since her room is on a different floor and has a double futon in and needs decorating

OP posts:
sam12 · 28/05/2011 09:27

Harriet I wanted to hold off putting dd in her own room but she had well and truly grown out of her Moses basket and the cot won't fit in our room.

ILoveGregoryHouse · 28/05/2011 09:58

Hi all, been catching up with all the news. Have been so busy in the two months since coming back, it's been hard to post.

I've stopped crying now but still want to go back. Our shipment turned up yesterday and ther's no room for all our extra stuff so we're getting an extension done next year! Cheaper than moving.

Boys school was a disaster, long story, so we've put them in a private school. This means I have to get a job, which I managed to do - got a HR consultancy job so will be self employed. This should work out well from a flexibilty point of view. DH started new job last week.

DD is fab, rolling around, nearly crawling - she goes on all fours and rocks and goes backwards. Terrible red rash on her chin from drooling and she's not a great eater tbh. She's on goats milk formula and her snot has slight wheeziness disappeared overnight. She's a delight, laughs a lot and just loves attention from other people - stares at them until they look at her then she grins and goes all coy - she especially likes old people 70 plus I think.

Anyway, off to check ebay. Am selling some of the stuff that we can't store any more due to all of our Bahrain crap.

HarrietJones · 28/05/2011 13:32

Sounds like it's working out ILGH, Shame about the school but at least you can sort it easily.Dd3 is aiming at the over 70s too, coy smiles!

Didn't think of that Sam, we started with the cot & I forget about baskets.
