Eek it's going so fast!

Well my night out has been cancelled so it's not an urgent rush round the shops but we are going to have z look for some summery clothes anyway.

Can I join this thread pretty please? Blush

My DS was a Halloween baby [hgrin] so is now a week over 8m. He is 24lbs (and VERY tall, like well off the scale tall...) and has been crawling for a while, is now cruising and can walk holding onto his walker.

Had our first tooth pop out this week.

He has been a nightmare with food recently though - totally refuses the spoon Confused. I have to sort of shove it in as he opens is mouth to poke in his finger food Wink. I'm thinking it is tooth connected??!

He also isn't really sleeping though. He wakes and cried until he gets his dummy put back in... Blush maybe once or twice night usually although he did sleep through without a peep last night...

Anyway, hello everyone. I hope you'll allow me to join you all :)

Welcome Tablevamp. Whats your DS's name if you don't mind me asking?

He could be refusing the spoon because he wants to feed himself. If he likes his finger food perhaps you could try giving him the same as what you're having minus the salt and see how he goes? Either that or give him a loaded spoon?

We seem to be over the teething worst even though the 2 lower teeth haven't made any upward progress yet, but DD slept through last night which was blissful!

How's your friend Trib? Is she still in hospital?

HarrietJones · 10/07/2011 11:14

Just caught dd3 chewing a piece of wallpaper. I thought she was very quiet ...

Nine monther here. Where does the time go?

HJ, my DS is a scamp for paper! We have to be so careful.

We very nearly have our top two teeth through.

Warm welcome to you, Vamp! Nice to have you here!

TableVamp · 10/07/2011 16:07

Helllo!!!!! Would rather not say his name as it is quite unusual and coupled with some other posts people I know what guess it is me. So can I just call him "T" :)

He did rubbish again today on his lunch :( Giving him the spoon just isnt an option i'm afraid - he would just chuck it across the room Grin !!! I just can't see him getting enough from finger food - he has only really just started actually eating the finger food!!

HarrietJones · 10/07/2011 16:08

I noticed the loose bit the other day but never got round to sticking it down Blush

T managed to pull up a block of wood off the parquet flooring in the hall yesterday! How??!! HOW??!!! There were no gaps - I just dont see how me managed it!!!! Grin He ws pretty smug with himself though... Wink

HarrietJones · 10/07/2011 16:18

Bet that was lovely to chew on :)

Welcome Vamp!! Ooooh I like unusual names.

We are still gummy and uber dribbley!

I've decided to not buy any more ready made food for me or sproggo! (Famous last words)!!! Hate recycling the jars and they all smell the same. Well Ella's / BabyPlum don't. They are v nice but pricey and no can do! For days out I can justify but not everyday.

MockingbirdsNotForSale · 10/07/2011 19:57

Good for you Silver.

DD's bottom teeth haven't moved upwards but she seems much happier...fingers crossed.

DH had to go back to work this evening. Don't like it when that happens- I prefer him going on Mondays. We dropped him off at the train station at 7 and got DD in the bath when we got home. When she was getting her PJs on- she kept saying 'Dada?' and looking to the door Sad.

tiredfeet · 10/07/2011 22:39

tribble I am so sorry to hear about your friend :( I was so hoping for a happy outcome. I know how hard you will be finding this -My friend lost her newborn the same week ds was born :( we had emailed each other almost every day during our pregnancies. There isn't anything you can say that will take the pain away, so don't be afraid to just say that you are so upset for her, and even say that you are lost for words. If you live locally then offer company when she is ready- my friend still hurts so much as some of her friends just avoid her since it happened :(. I message my friend and arrange visits/ meet ups , but also try and give her space if she needs it, and I made it clear that if she ever changes her mind about a meet up then I would understand, even if its last minute. It is hard though and I feel helpless sometimes

On a happier note - welcome tablevamp! Like the name

We feel like ds has had a real sudden developmental leap just this week, noticing so much more and finding new things interesting. He is obsessed with walking everywhere so I spend half my days bent over. He can crawl at lightning speed but only does it to get to thingss he's not allowed. I think he is going to be hard work as he gets older!!

Sage advice from feety there.

Me too, re the walking! He loves it, squeals with delight whenever we are walking him around the room, it's so cute! My poor back! Have found if I 'walk' on my knees, it's not so hard on my old body! :)

SeaShellsAndTheInlawInvasion · 11/07/2011 14:04

Dd loves her walker- it's crazy, she seems to be stuf so much sooner than Ds, or maybe it just feels like that?

Super hot today-dd inside in just a nappy :)

MockingbirdsNotForSale · 11/07/2011 15:40

DD discovered walking too on Saturday night. I find she likes to have my feet to look at so there's no kneeling for me! I did hear about a little harness you can get to stop you having to bend and you hold onto handles but I'm not sure how well it'll work as DD is very much a hand holder.

TribbleTrelawney · 11/07/2011 15:49

TF Thank you, I've not seen her yet. She's still in the hospital as she's having a bit of time of it recovering. Her BP is still high but we're hoping that she'll be out soon. I was a bit worried that she would be around the other Mums with their newborns, but I've since found out that she's in her own room which I am pleased about.

NoHun You go on like you're possitively hagged and grey, I have met you and can confirm that is not the case.

DS hasn't been well at all this weekend, I have spent the last few nights pacing up and down with him. I've taken him to the Docs and they said it was a cold!! I know I'm grateful that it's only a cold, but after all that faffing and whinging and crying I was expecting to be directed to the nearest A and E.

I have made DS cailiflower and broccoli cheese today, I must admit after testing it myself I wouldn't blame him if he tells me where to go with it. (although I don't really like broccoli or calilflower).

TribbleTrelawney · 11/07/2011 15:54

HJ Was it served with suitable paste as an addition?

DS is currently eating a pandora booklet.

Well actually he's turning the pages and laughing at it (probably at Mummys bad taste [hgrin])

Do we still have the Dragon and Bear emoticons?

HarrietJones · 11/07/2011 16:22

Dds keeps letting go today. Couple of instances of standing on her own then getting hold of me/furniture/gate etc.I want her to walk before I go back to work in case I miss it but I don't want to lose the little bit of peace we get now. On the walking round holding hands front, that's where dd1/2 come in handy!

Just making baked polenta and roasted tomatoes for our dinner. I'm such a greedy guts- busy shovelling the polenta into my mouth before its even in the oven. I wonder if I was Italian in a previous life I find it to be the ultimate comfort food. Yum.

NoHunIntended · 11/07/2011 17:21

Aw bless you, Trib! :) Ok, I know I am not ancient really! I forget I am LATE thirties though, 37 really does sound old! I think I am 27 really!

Hope your friend is doing as ok as can be.

Mmm, cauliflower cheese! Yum! Quite fancy the polenta and roasted tomatoes too!

Flying ant day here today. Yuck yuck yuck! They are huge, as well. Bleh.

In other news, I found a gorgeous wardrobe and chest of drawers/dressing table for our spare room, we are really low on storage and it's been driving me nuts, so I am very excited. It's not new-new, I like pre-loved/antique/old-wood type furniture, but new to me! And a bargain, too.

TribbleTrelawney · 11/07/2011 20:28

nohun we have no storage in our place, so annoying. I need to do a big sort out, I keep putting it off though. Do you use real cheese or do you use a vegan alternative.

Also do you have any links to some easy recipes? I'm bored and want to try something new. Needs to be super quick though and cheap to make. Tomorrow night is butternut squash risotto again.

HarrietJones · 11/07/2011 20:36

I've never had polenta.

Had sausage & mash tonight ( with homegrown veg!)

Dd3 loves mash. And broad beans!

In bed, been sick all afternoon and evening Sad I hate not being well enough to care for ds. Also bit mystified as I had the same weird sicky thing a couple of weeks ago.

Ds cheered me up though, he escaped from dh at bed time and crawled as fast as he could to our bedroom to find me Grin
