Eek it's going so fast!

Well my night out has been cancelled so it's not an urgent rush round the shops but we are going to have z look for some summery clothes anyway.

Anybody getting self conscious about bfing a non newborn?? Or is it just me?

SeaShellsAndTheInlawInvasion · 04/07/2011 20:27

A bit, but she only has one feed in the afternoon when we may be out and about, so I temd not to feed in compNy (still am/pm/bedtime and midnight)

I've got a blocked duct tonight as she is teething and must have mucked her latch about. Forgot how much it hurts!

You have done the hard bit Silver- less than 3 nths and they can go straight to cows milk from a cup, no bottle faff!

MockingbirdsNotForSale · 04/07/2011 20:52

I still feel fine about it....However, I was in hospital with DD a few weeks ago in a waiting room and someone commented 'aww look she's tired and is having a cuddle'. I don't know what possessed me to say 'no she's having a feed' because the woman started saying' well it doesn't look like it! Look everyone, she's breastfeeding her daughter and you can't see anything! Can anyone else see anything from their angle?! Told you not- all this hocus about bfing in public being bad, its hardly noticable!' Of course by the time she shut up, the whole waiting room was staring at me and unlatching DD at the end of her feed became an exercise in super discreetness as people craned necks....Hmm I was just hoping to be called through for DD's X-Ray or for the ground to swallow me. One of the 2.

DD is cutting her first tooth! For the last 2 days she's been pulling a funny face with her tongue and I worked out this evening that she's running her tongue over the serrated edge of a bottom tooth! I'm witnessing my last truly gummy smiles....end of an era Sad Smile.

HarrietJones · 05/07/2011 09:54

I had that the other day mock 'aw look at the baby having a cuddle' I didn't correct them though Grin

It doesn't bother me but there's a lot of bf locally and I don't feel different ( I do have an awkward streak though so would do it to be the only one too!)
Dd3 doesn't feed as much when out now. How many feeds are everyone on now? We are approx 7/10/4/6/8/10& sometimes in the night but it's getting less often. I'm still flooding a lot which is my concern about work! Though she likes having a cup she doesn't drink much but solids at lunch/mid afternoon seem to have replaced the lunch feed.

Still no teeth here I'm dreading losing the cute gummy smile. :(

We are only 6/2/6/12ish now, and trying to stop the night feed tonight. She just isn't interested anymore. Ds 1 was the same. They both fed really intensely until weaning, then self weaned up to a year. Each baby seems to differ so much though. I have had Night feeds allthe way through, and friends' LO have slept through from early on-I haven't had more than 3hrs sleep in a row for years now!!

HarrietJones · 05/07/2011 13:43

Dd3 is a milk addict I think. Even when she isn't hungry she strokes my chest & looks in my top just in case!

OP posts:
NoHunIntended · 05/07/2011 14:05

We have two bottom teeth, with the top middle two breaking through now. So cute with his little teeth.

I just feed on demand, sometimes it's just a thirst-quenching one, othertimes a big food feed - I don't note the times, but still pretty frequent. Am amazed I've had no issues with the teeth! Phew!
I have no qualms about feeding an older baby in public, and the only looks I think I've received have been approving (I think!).

SilverSky · 05/07/2011 16:29

Clearly the issue is mine! Grin

We bf around 630 / 1030 / 330 / 700 tho today no 1030 and hardly anything at 330.

When I go back to work would like him to be on 3 a day so only have to supply an afternoon bm bottle. That way should avoid exploding boobs in the orfice.

TribbleWithoutACause · 05/07/2011 20:50

I have routined DS now (or he's routined me, who knows). Anyway he has a feed 5.30am, bet 7-8am, 11am, 3.30pm, 7pm, 10-11pm. He eats lots at the moment though and tbh I doubt he's going to fade away anytime soon.

DS also has two teeth on the bottom and two teeth coming through on top. He's suffering a bit at the moment, bless him.

Nohun Either that or they think you have nice boobs Grin.

I must admit I do wonder what people think when they catch an eyeful when DS decides he wants to share with the entire world. The thought has crossed my mind that they'd see more in The Sun and at least mine are 'working' to the greater good.

HJ I've given up on the hope of not wearing breast pads anytime before he weans. I still get leaks even now.

HarrietJones · 05/07/2011 21:19

I'm still regularly soaking through mine. Am on my third set today, think it's cos she has a cold & is finding it harder to Feed so I'm spraying moreHmm that's my worry about work! Taking spare tops & smelling of milk all say!

OP posts:
MockingbirdsNotForSale · 05/07/2011 21:39

I haven't worn breastpads for months. No leaking at all.

DD feeds when she wakes up in the morning between 0730 and 1000- unless I need her to be up, I leave her to sleep til she wakes. Then 1200 ish then between 3-4 then at 1830 before bed. More often than not she sleeps through. Thats the routine but I feed on demand. The demands just coincide with those times. Sometimes its more. Food food is generally an hour after every bf apart from the last feed.

Being royally messed around work wise. 3 months to go and no job yet. Grrr. Sent snotty email today.

SeaShellsAndTheInlawInvasion · 05/07/2011 21:40

So do I-and as soon as I forget pads, I start thing"oh dint think about her otherwise you will start leaking" and promptly start leaking Hmm

NoHunIntended · 05/07/2011 21:59

Ha ha, tribs. I'm actually very good at not showing any bosom flesh. The main public place I bf is the gym changing room after a swim, where most of the other women have more on show than me, and they aren't feeding a baby.

HarrietJones · 06/07/2011 09:09

Flashing depends on level of desperation for milk here. If she's hungry she's focussed on milk & nothing else. If she's snacking there may be more interesting things to look at!

Finally lowered the cot last night. Not that she spends long in it but I was worried about her climbing out as she was standing in it.

HarrietJones · 06/07/2011 09:19

Got a puncture last night at the end of a longer than usual walk( about 2 miles rather than 1.5!). Can hardly walk today. School run took 40 mins instead of 15

Can you spare a prayer or thought for my friend (I told you about her earlier), she's developed preeclampsia and is having a emcs today.

Obviously her LO is very poorly so it's not a great situation, just hoping against hope.

Anyway, I'm sorry to bring a downer on it all.

HJ Sorry about your group, if you ever fancy it you should come to ours. It's very friendly (well I think so) and we get jaffa cakes.

MockingbirdsNotForSale · 06/07/2011 13:53

What a nightmarish situation. Prayers going out to your friend Trib. How many weeks is she?

Had a rubbish night. I think DD has a temperature, but I cannot find the thermometer. Ears still bad. On the plus side, we went to Baby Gym today and she enjoyed it. Its such a shame that all these lovely groups stop during the summer holidays. I'm also very jealous of all those SAHM and SAHD's that are around after their children are 12 months to take them to these things....

Just had sardines with chopped tomato, parsley, pepper and olive oil on sourdough for lunch. A hit for both of us, but stuff on toast is pointless unless its arcwelded onto the toast- all the sardine is around her, but if I give it to her she eats it.

MockingbirdsNotForSale · 06/07/2011 13:58

Rang the doc's to see if I could talk to them about DD's ears and got an appointment for 1500! Rather shocked that one was available!

TribbleWithoutACause · 06/07/2011 17:23

MocK I'm sorry DD is still suffering with her ears, poor little mite. My friend is 34/35 weeks at the moment.

DS is reading 'Tickle Tickle' and is laughing very loudly at it.

MockingbirdsNotForSale · 06/07/2011 19:44

Thinking of her Tribble.

DD has been referred for an ENT appointment. Hopefully something will come soon. Its been sent off as urgent. Apparently though urgent is longer than 2 weeks. The next highest up from urgent is cancer referrals and they take 2 weeks Shock. I would really have thought they'd be quicker!

HarrietJones · 06/07/2011 19:54

Tribble- hopefully your friend is ok now but fingers crossed for them both.

Doing secondary stuff for dd1 this week v. Scary

TribbleWithoutACause · 06/07/2011 21:54

I heard about my friend and it's quite sad news, unfortunately her LO has passed away. I didn't really know what to say tbh (I don't think you ever do), but its very sad.

Mock I'm glad you've been referred.

HJ I bet thats flown by hasn't it.

NoHunIntended · 06/07/2011 23:23

Oh Tribble, that us just utterly awful. Poor friend. :( Really sorry to hear that.

HarrietJones · 07/07/2011 06:43

Oh that's awful your poor friend:( :( :(

Bereavement boards here are full of good advice if you need any but I think you just have to be there.
