Eek it's going so fast!

Well my night out has been cancelled so it's not an urgent rush round the shops but we are going to have z look for some summery clothes anyway.

Congratulations Ty!! Fantastic news, good luck Grin

tiredfeet · 23/06/2011 19:38

Congratulations ty Grin that's brilliant! Really pleased for you.
The student parents board on mumsnet looks very supportive for when you start (but obviously please don't abandon us!)

busy and tribble I am glad your little ones are settling well.I know its incredibly hard leaving them but it gets easier as you see them settle. I didn't think I would be going back to work this soon either, and had to battle with the decision, but actually can see a lot of positives about it now

mocking sorry about the uncertainty, it must make planning difficult

Dh is off to glastonbury tomorrow, frantically hunting for wellies and waterproofs at the minute. I think I will enjoy being warm and dry at home with the baby Grin.

busyprocrastinating · 23/06/2011 21:49

Congrats Ty. My friend is a primary school teacher and I spent a week shadowing her, it looks great- I was sorely tempted to do it myself. Though she does work really hard (but don't tell her I said that I as I always tell her she has it easy playing in the sand pit all day) Am sure you will love it.

Tired very jealous of your DH off to Glastonbury.

I came on the laptop to do something but thought I would pop on here first. Now I really can't remember what I needed to do!

SilverSky · 23/06/2011 22:43

Congrats Ty! Lovely news!

mocks Hope they sort it out for you. Lincoln to there is not exactly a short commute.

In today's paper saw yukky report on how safe are nurseries. Didn't read the main text but the sub headlines have filled me with fear.

NoHunIntended · 24/06/2011 12:54

Well done, Ty. I had a friend do her PGCE last year - by all accounts, it is a LOT of hard work. But if you are meant to be a teacher, it will be so rewarding.

Sorry those of you who don't want to go back to work are struggling with that. :(

Harriet, thanks again for the Sign Language tip re Something Special - have watched a few now, and it really is great.

DS is clapping and waving now, too cute! :)

MockingbirdsNotForSale · 24/06/2011 13:34

DD is trying waving too!

Just making lunch- pancakes with cheese and tomato. DD's is cooling and I really want to eat it Blush.

TribbleWithoutACause · 24/06/2011 13:54

silver The vast majority of nurseries are perfectly fine, just remember to take what you read in the paper with a pinch of salt. After all they work very hard on those headlines in order to sell the newspapers. Also as a parent it is hard not to take those things to heart as it concerns those that are most precious to us. I have worked within the childcare industry and from my experience the nurseries were fine and the children in their care were cared for and looked after well. But do trust your instints though, I would only leave ny child if I was personally happy with the nursery or childminder.

jodieoliver · 24/06/2011 14:05

hi everyone, im new to this, just figuring out how it works......

TribbleWithoutACause · 24/06/2011 14:06

silver actually reading that back it sounds a tad bossy, I wasn't going for that I was trying to be more reassuring, sorry if it doesn't come off that way. It wasn't intentional.

NoHunIntended · 24/06/2011 14:17

Hello, jodie! Welcome! :)
Do you have a boy or girl, and is he/she your first?

MockingbirdsNotForSale · 24/06/2011 14:43

Welcome Jodie. There are 2 post-natal threads for babies born in October 2010. We're the faster moving one and there are not that many of us. We just post about anything really- it does not have to be about the babies (although of course it often is!). Right now, a lot of us are on the countdown to going back to work grrr- so thats taking a lot of time up! Feel free to post about whatever, including questions. We're a mix of bf and ff mothers, purees and blw, co-sleeping and cots in own bedrooms, slings and pushchairs, disposable and reusable nappies etc etc Wink so whatever you do, you'll fit right in.

PikaTYchu · 24/06/2011 15:35

Hi Jodie :)
Thanks for the good luck messages :)
Dd has started hugging me back Grin It is lovely she also did a wave similar to the Queen's yesterday Grin

HarrietJones · 24/06/2011 16:13

Hi Jodie!

Dd3 has been waving sporadically but today everyone has had one!
She copied my mam blowing kisses yesterday but not since.we get hugs accompanied by 'awwww'.

Busy day today . Dd1 went on residential so had to be at school at 5:30 ,we then had to get dh mobile from a town 30 mins away as it had been handed in at the police station when he lost it yesterday [rollseyes] bloody lucky! Then home, picnic with a group of breastfeeding mums for breastfeeding week. Just picked dd2 up & took to a sleepover. is it bedtime yet?

HarrietJones · 24/06/2011 16:16

Oh & how are babies naps going? Dd3 has dropped one this week Now only napping 9:30-10 ish for an hourish. Then last two nights going until 8:30. And bouncing. She used to sleep after milk feeds but is tending to bounce back up when she's finished

OP posts:
TribbleWithoutACause · 24/06/2011 21:02

HJ DS is on two naps a day, he is a cat napper so doesn't do very long at the moment but hey ho thats the way it is.

Mock Any thoughts on days for next week? (or have I missed it somewhere?)

I'm going over my birth notes with the community MW tomorrow. I've been after doing it for some time as I'm still trying to process the whole thing. I know it sounds odd but I can't decide if I feel tramatised by it all or not. I know I'm upset about it and I know that I never ever want to do that again. But I feel like the part of me that knows that is a bit removed from myself IYSWIM.

Did anyone see OBEM USA? I did, the difference between the way we handle birth here and there is like chalk and cheese. They had this one girl on there who'd had an epidural (and was texting all the way through labour) and they got her to ten cm and they told her that they were going to sit her up so that 'gravity could do some work'. Another woman got a spinal block during the pushing stage as well as she didn't want to feel anything. Somehow I think we'd get a different response over here [confussed].

HJ Yeah I was transfered when I was about 8cm, wasn't the most comfortable ride in the world.

busyprocrastinating · 24/06/2011 23:55

HJ naps aren't going here at all Sad DD has given up on them won't sleep till about 9pm and still wakes numerous times in the night. I'm exhausted. She sometimes wears herself out and will have a cat nap but nothing regular and if you try to put her to bed when she isn't tired she just shouts and tries to climb out.

Tribblehope it helps going over your notes. I saw OBEM USA too and thought the same- it all seemed very medicalised (if that is a word) they were all having drugs and laid down. I thought the same last week as well, although there was one couple trying to do things more naturally then. I couldn't believe that girl on her mobile especially when the midwife was trying to talk to her and she was just texting away!

HarrietJones · 25/06/2011 07:51

Wanting to climb out here too. Dd3 has taken to shouting & asking for our bed instead!

OP posts:
TribbleWithoutACause · 25/06/2011 12:33

MW has just been round, I feel so much better. They think that DS was back to back for the first bit of labour hence the reason it was so slow and the reason why I was so knackered. It was very helpful and she was here for a good hour, didn't feel rushed at all which was brilliant.Smile

HarrietJones · 25/06/2011 12:52

Thats good tribble :)

OP posts:
NoHunIntended · 25/06/2011 14:07

Yeah, glad you feel better. My little monkey was back to back, took blooming ages to get him out!

MockingbirdsNotForSale · 25/06/2011 15:45

I had a rubbish time. 81 hours from start to finish with a 2.5 hour second stage resulting in a trial by forceps when my birth plan specifically said no TbyF, but they railroaded me at my most vulnerable and DH was too upset too. Still gives me nightmares- it was one thing after another of crapness.

Anyway....Trib and HJ still have to look at the schedule and will do it later I promise! Where do you think would be good to meet up near CP? DH plans to go for a run.

HarrietJones · 25/06/2011 16:38

Depends what you want to do. If you want lunch there used to be a cafe on the A66 called karma llama ( or something like that) which was nice. Or rheged. Or Penrith. I don't know the area that well!

OP posts:
MockingbirdsNotForSale · 25/06/2011 17:02

I know the karma llama!! I had lunch there in 2009! Lunch or tea and cake could be good (messy). Trib?
