No she was sat playing under her baby gym and used the two bars to pull herself up with

She can move though, lying on her tummy she can wriggle. We've had to deflate her inflatable ring because she could get out of it, she will throw herself fowards from sitting and then using her feet propel herself over the edge!

Afternoon ladies

Bloody nora Katz, I thought my dd was doing well for managing short bursts of sitting before lolling to the side and falling over WOW she sounds dead keen to be on the move...going to be time soon to move all those ornaments you've just managed to put back as dd1 doesn't 'go' for them anymore!

Muma - woohoo I got the job! Start in January so can look forward to a relaxed Christmas now . Sorry to hear you've been upset - but Giddy has some great advice there

Welshie - belated best wishes...sooo what was dh's pressie that managed to cheer you up a little, something naughty I hope!

EYM - that sounds good about William. I have a hole in the heart (VSD) so not a serious one, and although mine never closed is never got any bigger and I've lead a very full and active life [nudge][nudge]! so please don't worry overly if by some chance it doesn't close, x

right that's the dulcet tones of dd demanding her tea so I'd better run, catch you all later x

Skyler · 22/11/2005 17:40

I keep reading this and then not having time to post, so I am not rereading before typing so apologies in advance for missing anyone. Had another terrible day yesterday, but a lovely one today thank goodness.
Welshie - A belated Happy Birthday! I hope that you were able to enjoy your day and treated yourself. I want to know what your DH got you as well. Also thinking of you today and hope you are not too .
Giddy - I have posted a card too although goodness knows when it will arrive as the post has gone to pot at the mo. I can't be long on here as I have to get all the pressies wrapped tonight to post tomorrow without dd1 in tow (in creche tomorrow am).
Blimey Katz, how exciting about your dd2. I thought dd2 was doing well sitting up. It is amazing what they are up to isn't it. I don't know where the time goes. DD rolls around a lot too and makes me laugh if I leave her in the front room as she is invariably under the table or wedged against the sofa by the time I get back .
Mrs W - Funny you should say about pay rises and appraisals. That is what I said in my chat to DH, along the lines of 'How would you feel if you went to work and never got any feedback or appraisal etc...... Anyway things are better today. (Yesterday he chose to descale the iron (!) instead of doing anything to help me like washing up or doing the veggies etc, I know I should be grateful that he was doing something but I wasn't ).
Mama - Sorry you are having a rough time and I hope you can take some heart from what Giddy said.
Killemum - It must be hard coping with your dh away so much? I would just get into a nice routine to have him turn it upsidedown and then get used to him being around and he would go again.
Bubb - at what time your dh has to leave for work. Does he get home early? Bless him for doing that so you can have longer off work .
Sorry, I know I will have missed something important....
EYM - Not tried the homepage yet. I will do and will do a link
I have got 'How what you wear can change your life?' (Trinny and Susannah) and 'How to behave so your children will too' and 'Toddler taming tips' out from the library. I had a laugh with the librarian about how you can tell a lot about people from the books they get out. She said that was so true. The only problem I have is making the time to read them.
Is anyone still b/f? I am still feeding dd2 on demand and it struck me today that I will struggle to get a routine when I begin weaning as we have no set 'mealtimes'. Actually I am not going to change anything as I thought that I am enjoying it like this and much less stressed than I was with dd1. DD2 seems to like it too. I feel I am much better at reading her than I ever was with dd1. And no matter what happens during the day both dd's are in bed by 7pm at the latest.
Who asked about sleep? Dd2 is still feeding 2-3 times a night between 7 and 7.....maybe this is a reflection on my demand feeding.....??? She wakes at approx 10pm, 2am and 5am. It is begining to feel normal now. I think I had better try and challenge it when dh is back to normal working though.
Right have to go and get wrapping lol.
Take care all xxxx

killiemum · 22/11/2005 17:48

Afternoon girls,

Hope you are all well.

Katz - OMG has she been doing weights or what, my dd now feels a little inadequate with her puny roll overs.
EYM - glad you feel better now, if its any concillation (sp?) my dp was born with that too and he turned into one hunka hunka man.
Muma3 - giddy is right you never know how things will be this time next year. Lots of positive thinking and big hugs from us.
Giddy - poor you hope you tried for a relaxing day today.
With that in mind I have decided that we should all just hire cleaners, this housework nonsense is just a pain in the butt. We should all be enjoying our time with the little uns not scrubbing ovens. OK decision made!

Hugs n stuff
Killiemum xx

shes done it again this evening so not a fluke, oh well she's following in her sisters footsteps literally

OP posts:
lummox · 22/11/2005 19:37

Mrs W - I can hardly bear to post it as fear a jinx, but for the last two night ds has slept through from 6.30 to 6.30 (well, he cried for abou a minute at 9.30 and again at about 4 am, but I didn't h to go in to him and he settled himself back down).

It's like a switch has been flicked in his head and he can suddenly get himself back to sleep.

Not counting any chickens though. For a couple of weeks before this he had been waking for a dream feed around 10 pm and then once around 4 am. That felt like absolute luxury compared to the every two hours that we had had before.

Hope everyone else is going OK on the sleep front. Skyler - hang on in there, bet it won't be long.

Katz - that's amazing. Well done Katzlet.

And finally.......

dh has "found" a kitten. It is incredibly cute. Seems like it is my decision whether to keep it. aaaarrrgggh.

sfxmum · 22/11/2005 20:05

evening all

a person gets switched off for a couple of days and what happens...apparently the police chase you for breastfeeding in public...everyone goes really talkie...junie babies standing up... good going katz

guess have no hope of really catching up but here goes

skyler- am still bf pretty much on demand but introducing solids. i keep a log of when i bf, think it helps me to guess when she will be more receptive to solids. so far only the morning 'meal' and occasionaly late pm end up in her tummy. she is only on 2 lidded cubes per meal atm.

giddy- i hope leona likes the cards and has a good birthday, think its nice to have a more independent celebration with friends at her age anyway.

mumma3 - sorry about your news, but think giddy was right. and you are also very young who knows what can happen, think positive.

troubles- you were asking about occupying the little one, welldd can get quite bored too, usually we have story time, songs, general play and also sometime when she plays in her gym, i try to keep things calm and quiet, otherwise she can get overtired and that spells trouble.

jonah & lippy - glad you had nice breaks.

welshie- belated happy birthday, hope it turned out ok.
i can relate to the mother anniversary and EYM i will be thinking of you.

must go and spend some time with dh, will be giving him man/dad/husband of year award, he really has been great and i must make sure i tell him so...positive reinforcement must be given

MrsWednesday · 22/11/2005 21:13

Just been reading all your posts and nodding in agreement! Sfxmum, have had an overtired baby situation today and oh my god it was very unpleasant. Still he's in bed now and the wine is open (not good on a Tuesday but I feel I deserve it).

Troublesmummy, I've got a static ladybird thing that DS2 can sit/sort of stand in, with rattles within easy reach and he seems to really enjoy it (he doesn't like his door bouncer). Otherwise I show him Mumsnet , tickle him, let him look at his reflection in the mirror, sing to him or put him on the floor so he can practice his rolling.

Katz, can't believe your DD2 has pulled herself up to standing! When did her big sister walk? DS2 has only just mastered rolling.

Skyler, that's exactly the sort of thing my DH would do. I seem to remember him cleaning the bottom of the grill pan (the underneath!!!) when there was a pile of washing up that needed to be doing first. I'm still b/f on demand but have introduced one bottle of formula a day in a half-hearted attempt to switch over before I go back to work.

Great news about William's heart EYM, just what you need at the moment. Thinking of you and Welshie this week, anniversaries are hard.

Tea, congratulations on the job front, brilliant news. What hours will you be working?

Blimey Lummox!

lua · 22/11/2005 21:16

Katz - congratulations (or perhaps... my sympathies ) on the Katzlet prowess! Its truly impressive! Are you thinking about signing her for gymnastics? in never too early for that....

Tea - Congrats on the job!!! That must be a relief!

EYM - Glad to hear william's heart is going to be all right!

Skyler- I'm still basically demand feeding. I try to give at least 3 hours in etween, and usually feed him when he wakes up... but I still resort to reast any time he is grumpy... which is no wonder that he expects it then to continue during the night.... He has improved a bit with sleep. He definetely goes to sleep by himself no problems. But he still wakes up between 2 and 5 times at night! I have actally tried to let him cry cold turkey , but gave upafter 1hour and 30 minutes of screams! Am now considering just going back to co-sleeping - So I can at least rest....

katzguk · 22/11/2005 21:45

hi

mrsw - dd2 took her first steps at 8.5months and was walking well by 9months and could come on a short walk with the dog at 10.5months (thats when we finally bought her her first shoes!)

OP posts:
katzguk · 22/11/2005 21:47

i should probably confess now to saying to dd2 shortly afterwards 'now thats very naughty, babies don't walk until they're at least 1! don't do it again' but DH wanted to see so we gave her the op again and lo and behold she pushed up again.

OP posts:
teabelly · 22/11/2005 21:55

Mrs W / Lua - thanks for the congrats. It's 2 1/2 days tues/wed & thurs am, so I'll get a nice long weekend . Fairly good money for local, but a bit of a shock when compared to my City wages!! Still on the plus side I can leave the house at 8.45 and be home again by 5.45 instead of the old 7-7. Also gives me a chance to try and build up the on-line nursery shop I'm in the process of setting up...who knows I may even open the actual shop before the year is out which would be nice - just need to find someone with the odd £15,000 hanging around doing nothing

teabelly · 22/11/2005 21:57

Katz - he he he - bet she takes no notice whatsoever of you and continues to stand and then walk before Easter comes!

killiemum · 22/11/2005 22:54

Hi Girls,

I have just had a skim through your old threads, admittedly felt like bit of stalker, and I just wanted to say that I think you are all gods. I am in awe. (Not even being sarcastic, and i'm scottish, sarcasm is second nature)

I can't believe most of you have been posting since the lo's popped out - I couldn't sit down at the pc for a month .

So I have decided that being a first time mum is uncool and I will just have to try for another real soon and maybe then I will be able to manage juggling as much stuff as you lot. (Still no sarcasm)

I'm looking forward to tomorrow - dd going to weekly swimming class. She is gorgeous BTW just had to get that out. She loves swimming and is a much better swimmer than me already, well its close.

Has anyone heard of a mother and baby cinema thing at the odeon, really fancy going to see HP but don't know if its possible, dp thinks he saw it somewhere.

MrsWednesday - can I be nosey and ask how much your cleaner costs and how long she comes for. I've decided when I go back to work I will have little enough time with dd.

Best get off to bed now 'see' you all tomorrow xx

eastyorksmum · 22/11/2005 23:12

just quick post before bed

  • baby odeon - my local does it. you have to become a member its £1 to join they do one screening a week, you cant take pram in but they keep it safe. usually about 10-12 people attend its really nice

tea - congrats on job- currently have selective blindness with anything remotly to do with work and sort of missed it

eym - very good news about william

update on dd skills

  • vigorous thumb sucking;
  • persistent chewing of everything and anything she can get into her mouth;
  • energetic rolling over from her bed to mine in the middle of the night, with occasional well aimed kick at mummy while doing so; -loud annoyance when she falls over while trying to stay sitting up -loud foghorn type noises, folowed by laugh at around 6 am...bless

Tea, I've had a rummage down the back of the settee and all I can find is a fluff-covered dummy and two five pence pieces to put towards the £15k. Sorry! Sounds an interesting plan - you have my upmost admiration, starting your own business is a great idea (I'm too much of an unmotivated coward unfortunately).

Killie, the cleaner comes once a week for 4 hours and we pay her a fiver an hour (have tried to increase this by the way but she doesn't want any more money strangely). She does the house from top to bottom and some ironing too, and I don't know what we'd do without her. Welshmum goes to baby cinema quite regularly I think.

Better night here, only up once at 3am then up for the day at 6.30 so much more bearable.

Lovely photos EYM, she looks beautiful (and so do you! Fab boots).

Like the skills update sfxmum. My DS can
roll both ways
stay awake for 8 hours without napping
grab his feet
pull my hair very hard
charm little old ladies in Morrisons.

Better go, he's rolled off his mat and is heading this way...

killiemum · 23/11/2005 12:34

Afternoon,

EYM - gorgeous dress, v. . You looked fab too.

MrsW & SFX thanks for your info will def look into both odeon & cleaner.
