OK, so I sneakily added the word 'thread's', but went with SGJ's suggestion Grin

AWimbaWay · 14/09/2011 20:28

Wow, go Norry!

Fenouille · 14/09/2011 20:45

I know! DH came home asking if Usain Bolt was already in bed Grin

4madboys · 14/09/2011 20:52

WOW go norry, well done! Grin two of my boys walked and 9mths, it was a nightmare, have fun!!!

merryn is STILL trying to crawl, she can go backwards and round in circles but not forwards Hmm she rolls very well and that combined with her circles and going backwards means she can actually get about quite well tho, but she is getting very cross! and she spends ages on all fours rocking but not quite sure what to do, i suspect it wont be long till she is properly on the move tho!

she had a checkw ith the hv today, 22lb 8oz and very long, hv very happy with her so no more checks till her two year one unless i have any concerns which i dont.

she will still ONLY sleep swaddled tho! fine when she isnt too wriggly and i only have to reswaddle twice but some nights its 8 times....... yawn 3)

oh and she still only has two teeth, that she got at about 5mths, no more and no signs of any either!

she is fabulously cute and can wave and do a high five tho Grin

4madboys · 14/09/2011 20:53

oh welcome new ladies :) my dd was actually born 5th dec, she was late, like her four brothers before her...yes four brothers, she is no 5 and my last baby :( well unless we win the lottery Grin

TheLaineyWayIsEssex · 15/09/2011 09:23

Wow fen Shock, was Norry crawling before or just went straight to walking?
4mad poor you rre swaddling, will she not go to sleep ever without being swaddled?
Tooth number 5 ( top front) finally emerged earlier in the week, and digns are that its' friend is on its' way. he is really struggling with them.

Finn seems to have lost strength in his legs since being ill so is a lot more wobbly even when holding on to my hands. He has lost a week of crawling practice too but is brighter today and back to the slow crawl(looks like he is swimming) rollling combo. He has a way of making crawling look very hard work bless him
He has finally figured out waving,( well when he wants to to) and say something resembling bye-bye at the same time and generally never stops 'talking' which is very cute.
i have heard that gross motor skills like crawlong and walking are inherited, and if so we are in for a looooong wait on the walking front as I was closer to 2 than 1 when i finally got off my lazy bum.
Finn now weighs 21lbs7oz (having lost weight lt week) and is also tall. Must book in to see HV as curious to know how big his head it. It is bigger than most 3 year olds most babies his age and was 38cm when born.

Fenouille · 15/09/2011 21:03

Thanks everyone [gulp]

Grin at all the backwards crawling, swimming, rolling babies. N 'swam' until it got too hot to put him in his vest so he had to crawl as his tummy was too sticky to let him swim! Waving and high fives are awesome though. I'm trying to teach N to high five but he's not convinced - he has started clapping though which is hysterical.

Well, Norry is one of the older so the walking is maybe not too surprising. And my Mum swears I was walking by 9 months, but as she seems to remember nothing else about my babyhood I'm a bit Hmm

4mad the swaddling sounds horrendous, although aren't you co-sleeping? Can't you do it in your sleep yet? ;) Lainey we have the 5th and 6th teeth coming through too, we've not had a decent night's sleep in a fortnight so you have my profound commiserations. I hope Finn gets back on the up soon.

I've got a big business trip coming up next week for my second one - 4 nights away eeek! DH is a bit stressed due to the non sleeping and the fact that his parents are away as well (although they were the last time he went away too so I wasn't overly sympathetic).

Have a great end of the week everyone and a super weekend! Oh! And welcome to the newcomers :)

4madboys · 15/09/2011 22:30

yes we are co-sleeping but i have to sit up to rewswaddle her Hmm last night she slept really well, only had to reswaddle once! but i have the period from hell and had to get up in the night to deal with overflow issues tmi Blush

merryn is making progress with crawling and can do the hands movement but not her legs [rolls eyes] am sure she will be off soon, all the boys were crawling by this stage but she has four willing slaves who fetch and carry for her every whim so not the same motivation!

oh and re the teeth having had no signs of any more (she only has the bottom two front ones) she was whingey today, looked in her mouth and the top four look like they are right there ready to come through, so we are in for a fun week or two i think, explains why she has been off her food for a day or two and a bit snotty!

bunnygirl80 · 15/09/2011 23:40

fen go Norry. Will's similar with the crawling - he commandoes along on his belly unless he's topless, then he'll crawl properly Grin

4mad hope Merryn lets you get a bit more sleep soon

Well we had a good run of 4 days without illness. Then we were woken at about 1am by William being violently sick again. Once he'd emptied his stomach he went back to sleep and slept right through till 7am. I hoped he'd be fine - tried him with a couple of sips of water and he kept it down, so gave him a bottle as he was starving. Cue violent sicking again within 5mins. Sad I'm taking him back to the drs today - I'm sure they'll just tell me I'm being neurotic but I'm now really worried as to why he's been ill pretty much constantly for the last 3 weeks

JennyPiccolo · 16/09/2011 00:17

Cara took two steps today as well. She is a wild baby.

Is anybody else still feeding through the night? I feel like im going mental.

AWimbaWay · 16/09/2011 08:16

Poor Will, hope he gets better really soon bunny, 3 weeks does seem like a long time!

Impressed with more walking babies, well done Cara. Lottie's showing no interest, she basically spends all day crawling round after me crying until I pick her up and carry her everywhere. She does a funny one legged crawl mostly, half way between a bum shuffle and a crawl, looks most amusing.

Starting to worry about nicknames, 'snotty Lottie' seems rather apt of late, hoping the constant stream of snot stops prior to her starting school in 4 years Grin.

Jenny, I stopped night feeds at 6 months, Lottie now has a breastfeed at around 7am, one at 7pm and usually another during the day. If she wakes in the night we only offer water.

bunnygirl80 · 16/09/2011 10:08

Thanks awimba The verdict from the drs is that they're not entirely sure what's causing the vomiting. He's got another ear infection, and that can apparently cause vomiting, so we've got antibiotics, and a referral to ENT for grommets as it's his third one. The other possibility is a uti, so we've got to try and get a urine sample from him - attempt number one failed when the collection bag fell off so we'll just have to have another go tomorrow morning.

He's been extremely happy all day today, and he's been working hard on standing unaided all day. I've caught him lifting his hands up off whatever he's been holding onto a couple of times, and this evening he stood all by himself playing with a toy......until he realised what he'd done and promptly hit the deck Grin

jenny William started sleeping through till at least 5am of his own accord about 6wks ago, but he does have the occasional night where he wakes before then. I try and settle him with his dummy, but if that doesn't work then I do feed him, but only offer half the amount he'd have in the day. I tried giving water, but it just pisses him off

Fenouille · 16/09/2011 20:16

Oh poor Will, I hope you get to the bottom of it soon. It sounds quite unpleasant for all of you. Although if he's starting to stand unaided it sounds like there might be walking in the bunny household soon too ;)

Go Cara too :) After the initial excitement here he hasn't done it again but we'll be hot housing encouraging him this weekend.

I'm still feeding at night because we don't have enough will-power to get through the few nights of screaming to get him onto water at night. That said, unless he's ill or teething he sleeps pretty much through. He gets very disturbed in the evening though and wakes quite frequently between when he goes down and when we go to bed. He generally sleeps through after that though.

bunnygirl80 · 19/09/2011 11:58

William has been much better the last 2 days - no vomiting, and eating a bit more. Although he's now terrified of anything with lumps in - he seems really worried he'll gag and be sick again Sad I'm undecided whether it's his ears or some bug that's been going around. Since having the antibiotics he's stopped pulling his ears, but I've also got 3 friends whose babies have also had random episodes of vomting in the last week. I'm leaning towards the ears, as poor Will was sick while having his dinner on Saturday and it went all over his finger food. DH did not witness the incident, and I'd moved the finger food off the highchair, so DH ate it.......he very quicklyrealised his mistake when it tasted of sick Grin He's not been sick though, so there's obviously nothing contagious in the sick

William's now discovered the toddler's favourite game of passing you something only to ask for it back again. We've spent many happy hours being proudly presented with something (and he says deeerrr (there) when he gives it Grin) only to then have a hand stuck out to give it back. He giggles and giggles to himself at how clever he's being Grin He particularly enjoys attempting to feed us pre-chewed food from his dinner. He's also standing unaided for 20-30secs at a time, and giggling with delight at that too!

He's suddenly cottoned on to being able to communicate with us - there are the beginnings of a few words - no, did did for daddy, es for yes, deerrr for there and very very occasional mum mum for mummy - and he's started using a few more signs as well as pointing at things he wants. He gets soooooo excited when we actually respond to his gestures and pointing

Fenouille · 23/09/2011 19:17

Hey Bunny, how's Will these days?

I'm back from my business trip, N was very good while I was away and as for the bf: so far so good. I did pump but I always get so little now I'm never really sure whether it's doing any good or not.

N does seem to have a cold sore though :( Dunno where it's come from and not really sure what to do with it. Bit of a poo but I suppose it's a bit inevitable with so many people constantly kissing him. He's such a flirt...

The communicating is cool. We don't have any recognisable words yet but while I was away DH taught N to shake his head "no". It's so cute I get the giggles when I tell him to stop doing stuff, which is not good.

Bon weekend everyone!

bunnygirl80 · 24/09/2011 00:33

Hi fen Looks like it's just you and me here!

Will's much better thanks. We had a review at the drs yesterday, and his ears are still inflamed so we've been referred to see ENT, but it doesn't seem to bother him.

Glad your trip went well. Has N done any more walking? Will is definitely thinking about it - he's standing unaided for longer and longer and you can see the cogs turning trying to figure out how to get his feet to move. He did take one step today to travel between the sofa and the coffee table, but it was more of a fluke than an intententional action Smile

Hope his coldsore's not too bad. Not sure what you do with them in babies. Antivirals are really only effective if you take them before the blister appears, so it might be too late to start them. Might be worth seeing what your GP thinks though. Coldsores are a secondary herpes infection (like shingles is to chicken pox), so he's obviously picked up the virus at some point in the past. It might just have reactivated now if he's a bit under the weather.

William has got his first proper girlfriend already Shock One of the little girls at mother's group has been obsessed with Will for a good couple of months, but he's never been interested in her, and would cry if she got too close Hmm Her persistent attempts to woo him have finally worked though as yesterday she crawled up to him and they both gave each other kisses. Then he folllowed around for the rest of the afternoon - at one point he was following her but got distracted by a toy, so she stopped and looked over her shoulder until he started following again....poor boy is under the thumb already Grin

AWimbaWay · 24/09/2011 09:27

Glad the trip went well and hasn't effected the breastfeeding fen. Most annoying about the cold sore though. As I've mentioned over on fb I suffer from them, they pop up whenever I'm run down. My poor Mum gets them really badly, on her nose as well as mouth. We both swear by zovirax but you do have to catch them as soon as the tingle starts so might be too late for N, and I'm not sure if it's recommended for infants any way. Hope it clears up soon.

Pleased to hear Will's feeling better too bunny Smile.

We've had a pretty horrendous week, all 3 dcs and I came down with a sickness bug, so 3 days and nights of cleaning up after poorly people, then dd1 developed an ear infection, ds has croup and Lottie is full of cold again and last night was up from 3am with a fever! I think it's a combination of autumn arriving, returning to school and baby groups and generally us all being run down and attacked by any bug within a 10 mile radius. I'm feeling the need to disinfect the house from top to bottom!

I feel extra bad as I'm so fed up with it all I'm finding I'm losing sympathy with the poor things. My first thought when one wakes up crying in the night isn't the poor little thing anymore but for christs sake what now!

Fenouille · 24/09/2011 21:55

I thought I could hear an echo in here!

Hi Wimba, that sounds very unpleasant, I'm not surprised you're starting to lose patience :( I hope you all start feeling better soon. And thanks for the cold sore advice. It seems that it might not be one after all so we've now got some anti-bacterial cream, so let's see if that helps.

Bunny, sounds like Will is quite the flirt Shock Loving the idea of baby kisses! N is surrounded by girls at his CM and apparently one of the other mothers has asked our CM what N has 'got' as her daughter talks constantly about Nyi-nyar at home Blush At the CM they try to constantly feed him (fake) cakes, dress him, give him cups of (fake) coffee and brush his hair! He takes it all in his stride Grin

Regarding the walking he apparently didn't do anything much while I was away, but yesterday evening he took one or two steps several times, and on two occasions he managed 5 steps! We were Skyping with my parents at the time and I was really excited that they got to see it - only my Mum kept complaining that he kept disappearing (that's because he's just fallen over again Mum as he's learning to walk... Hmm ). So the progress is a little slow, and in fits and starts, but he is making some. He's also quite happy toddling along holding on to my hand with one of his.

CardiCorgi · 25/09/2011 22:18

Hello!
Hmm, I'm finding all of the social media hard to keep up with
Am I allowed to be jealous of the business trip? DH has one at the moment and it's rather hard work here. I would so love to sit on a plane and be totally out of reach for two hours. I wouldn't even need to go anywhere, they could just do a circuit of Bavaria and set me down again.

Good to hear that Will is on he mend bunny. I hope you feel better soon Wimba

We had fun this evening. A has decided that spoons are for wimps-all food has to be eaten off the table so that it can be prodded in a suspicious manner beforehand. Spoons and bowls got thrown onto the floor and most of the food seemed to have found its way there too by the end of the meal.

bunnygirl80 · 28/09/2011 12:13

wimba hope all the dcs have recovered and things are a bit better for you at home

fen sounds like N has a full on harem at the cm's Grin

cardi William also thinks spoons are for wimps......he just puts his face directly into the bowl Grin

We're having yet another sleep nightmare - Will has been very unsettled at night since the weekend. He's waking up at 2am and taking 2hrs to settle Sad. Not sure what brought it on - my Wonder Weeks app says he's having a developmental leap at the moment - so hopefully it's just that making him unsettled.

His 2 teeth are now far enough through for me to brush Grin Tonight I brushed them for him while he was in the bath. Then I gave him the brush to have a go himself.........so he used it to brush his willy Hmm Clearly he hasn't inherited my dental expertise Wink

Fenouille · 28/09/2011 20:51

Grin at Bunny over Will's dental skills! I'm sure he'll get the hang of it soon.

Wimba hope you're all on the mend now?

Cardi yes you may be jealous of my trip - I slept like a baby (as they say here) for four nights and it was ace :) My DH also travels a lot so it was nice to leave the two boys to it for once. My downstairs neighbour is a single parent and I honestly don't know how she does it. After 3 or 4 nights on my own I'm just about on my last legs.

Speaking of last legs - Bunny our boys seem to be in cahoots again; N hasn't slept since Sunday and is also doing the midnight party thing. I have a suspicion he might be going down with an ear infection but the Dr. said there's nothing wrong that she can see (after I spent all morning waiting to see her) I was also thinking it might be developmental disturbances due to the walking? Could that be having such an effect on his sleeping? Anyway, I hope Will snaps out of it soon and sends vibes to N to stop it too

bunnygirl80 · 29/09/2011 10:48

fen William slept through till 5:30am last night, then went back down till 7, so hopefully he'll send some sort of message through to N to start doing the same Grin Hope you get some more sleep soon.

Fenouille · 01/10/2011 18:37

bunny yay it worked! N has slept the last two nights through. Thanks Will Grin

bunnygirl80 · 03/10/2011 10:11

Wow fen. It really does seem like our boys have some sort of telepathic link Grin

AWimbaWay · 03/10/2011 20:57

Glad to hear Will has encouraged N to sleep better.

Thankfully all illness has finally left our house, and Lottie is like a different baby! She is so happy and will occupy herself for a while so I can actually make dinner etc. Poor little thing must have been feeling really rough, her fever peeked with an all over body rash which thankfully seemed to signal that it was on it's way out. Fingers crossed that's it for a while.

Lottie now loves pushing her walker up and down with a rather smug, 'look what I can do' look on her face. People keep commenting how mobile she is until I point out she'll be 1 in 3 weeks time. She's such a tiny tot people think she's about 8 months still.

Fenouille · 03/10/2011 21:39

Urgh, and now we're back to waking multiple times a night with screaming :( Dr thinks it's a cold. I don't know, something is bothering him. It would be nice when he could tell us in more detail than "bugger bugger bugger" and "booka booka"
