OK, so I sneakily added the word 'thread's', but went with SGJ's suggestion Grin

hope your new routine is working addictediam. My DS seems to react to formula, only tried it a couple of times and tried 2 types, but skin wasn't great afterwards and you don't want to know about the nappies! took 6 days for his system to get back to normal, no idea what it is that he can't handle, but it can't be a cows milk allergy as he has milk with weetabix and with crushed biscuits and has petit filous and home made cheese sauces made with milk.

On a separate note, gees, some people really do p me off at times....honeymoo will know what i am on about! think i will stick to this thread and one on TTC as some of the others out there are not as nice!

addictediam · 18/08/2011 18:12

Yes thank you, it seems to be working really well, we've had to regig a little but i think werd both happy now.

I've changed 6 really phooy nappies today and by the smell am just about to change my 7th :( anyone know why she is a poo machine today?

Loooopy · 18/08/2011 19:59

must be all the food you are giving her now! DS usually does 2-3 a day, sometimes 4.

bunnygirl80 · 19/08/2011 01:20

addicted glad your routine is working. More solids will = more poo, but 7 in one day sounds like alot. Hope her insides settle soon Smile

I took William to the park yesterday, and witnessed a toddler lying on the ground outside the coffee shop having a full blown tantrum screaming "I want my babycino, get me my babycino NOW mummy" Grin Am starting to worry I'm not a yummy enough mummy for the park, as I'm pretty sure William will never be sophisticated enough to tantrum over not getting a cup of steamed milk with half a pack of marshmallows on it

Loooopy · 22/08/2011 15:28

seeing as no one seems to be here, i won't ask if it's ok to have a rant ;)

i emailed work last week telling them i'd be going back from 8th November. No reply until today. I get an email saying fine. I then get an email asking if i can see a client on thursday evening, that would mean leaving home by 5pm latest, and not being back until probably 9.30pm. Not sure who they think would look after DS, give him his tea/supper/evening milk and put him to bed. DP works in London and not back until after 8. No family nearby. Work know all this. RAAAAARRRRRGGGGGHHHHHHH.

Really need to win the lottery!

PS DS can now crawl!

Fenouille · 25/08/2011 21:03

Hi everyone, congratulations on those of you expecting again (Shock Shock) I had lunch with a friend today whose DS was born mid Dec 2010 and she's 5 months pg again (by accident). She looks great but I just couldn't imagine doing it all over again, let alone so soon.

Hope you're all having a nice summer and having some sunshine. It's been boiling here for the last weeks or so but the rain is back again tomorrow

Things are pretty manic here since coming back from holidays. N is now standing and trying very hard to walk although not quite managing it thank goodness. Got a second business trip coming up, a bit of a longer one this time (4 nights) so a little concerned about the bf, but I'm hoping if I pump it should be ok. We're down to 3 day time feeds anyway with the odd night feed. Hope I'm not being madly over optimistic as I'd like to continue a little longer.

bunnygirl80 · 27/08/2011 22:41

looopy hope you manage to get work sorted out. Well done to DS on the crawling Smile

fen Hope you manage to continue bfing after your trip. I know everyone's different, but I was still producing enough milk to be hugely engorged at the end of each day over 2 wks after I had completely stopped feeding Will, so I would imagine 4 days would be ok, especially if you can pump. I asked something on the bfing board here when I went back to work, and the people in the know there said that once you've fed past the 6mths mark you body's so used to it that it will take a long time for your milk to dry up completely. N just might want to feed a bit more when you get back to increase your supply if he needs to.

William appears to have decided that 5:40am is the official start of the day. I've tried just leaving him to it, and he is noisily happily playing in his cot until I go in for him at 7am. It started with him wanting to practice standing/walking and now I think it's become a habit. I don't think we're being helped by the fact it's now starting to get light at 5:30. I've put his blackout blind up, but there's no way I can block out the sound of the cockatoos that come and eat the lemons off our trees. DH reckons I'm just never happy, as he's gone from waking every 2-3hrs to sleeping all the way through till 5:40 and I'm still moaning Grin

Fenouille · 30/08/2011 21:04

Hi bunny, sorry to hear about Will's early starts. Can I suggest earplugs and kicking DH out of bed to play with him?

I'm not so worried about milk drying up as much as N going off the idea of it. He's such a milk monster though I'm reasonably confident it won't be a problem. I am regretting having said I'll go now though because the business visa application process is such a pain in the arse. You really get the impression they don't want people to go there on business. I'm ready to scream (and did have a bit of a rant at my secretary today oops) but I'm hoping after all this it'll be worth it.

Just had to go outside and tell a bunch of idiots to keep the noise down. A group of young adults were playing their car radio so loud the windows were shaking and were having some sort of open air disco Angry. If I ever catch N doing something like that I'll have his guts for garters Grin. They did at least have the grace to look a bit embarrassed and turned it off as I screamed like a fishwife berated them about their inconsiderate-ness. Honestly!

bunnygirl80 · 04/09/2011 00:31

fen do boys ever go off the idea of boobs? Wink

William now has 2 teeth! No idea when the first one appeared as I'd stopped looking - spotted it on Friday so it must have been some time in the last week. Second one came through last night, and poor Will did not enjoy the experience. He woke every hour between 7 and midnight, then again at 2, when he stayed up until 4. Sad He's miserable and overtired today, as am I. Poor DH has missed out on his Father's Day lie in as I just couldn't face getting out of bed when he woke for the day at 7. Although, DH normally has a lie in on a Sunday, so I'm looking at today as a treat of extra daddy son bonding time Grin

AWimbaWay · 04/09/2011 07:05

Cockatoos eating lemons off trees, now that's not something you see everyday over here!

Lottie's teething too, don't know if it's connected but she also has a constant stream of snot. Also up before 6am most days at the moment, when I know she's feeling better I might try the wake to sleep thing again, it seemed to work for a while last time.

Feeling a bit annoyed as I would normally do the early shift on a Sunday, then when Dh gets up go back to bed for a few hours, but one of Dd1's friends has decided to have her birthday party a 45 minute drive away at 10am on a Sunday morning on the last day of the holidays, pure evil.

We seem to be averaging one post every 3/4 days at the moment, guess we've all migrated to FB! If there's anyone left feeling deserted on here let us know!

Loooopy · 04/09/2011 11:06

i wondered where everyone had gone...

AWimbaWay · 04/09/2011 19:34

Have pm'd you Loooopy.

SGJ · 05/09/2011 11:11

Yes, yes, yes - am convinced teething and snot are totally connected! Both times Jessica's had a tooth coming through she was a snot machine and now one of the top buggers is coming through she's streaming again! Probably something to do with the effort it takes their bodies to make teeth move having an impact on how much energy they can devote to fighting off various lurgies?? That's my theory anyway! Can't wait for this tooth to come through, her sleep has been rubbish for the last 3 nights, but her teeth move SO SLOWLY!!

Fatshionista · 05/09/2011 11:12

Can I join? DD2 was born November 28th.

Lainey1981 · 07/09/2011 10:17

Hi Fatshionista, welcome!
My ds was born on nov 29th.
Tell us a little about you and your dd2
Grin

bunnygirl80 · 07/09/2011 10:45

Well I've been feeling somewhat guilty that I just thought William was being a bit of a wuss about teething, after he started crying for most of the day on Sunday and refusing food. Turns out that as well as teething he'd managed to catch hand foot and mouth Sad Unfortunately for us, the rash appeared while we were at a Father's Day bbq with my mother's group - so Will has quite possibly spread it to the 7 other babies that were there. Not fun telling having to tell everyone that their babies are probably infected.

He's coped pretty well with it though - he was miserable on Monday and Tuesday, crying pretty much non-stop, and waking up to 8 times in the night. He slept really really well last night and he's been a different boy today, so hopefully he's on the mend.

fatshionista welcome to the thread Smile

Loooopy · 07/09/2011 14:37

what is hand, foot and mouth? (have heard of foot and mouth in animals but not this?!)

AWimbaWay · 07/09/2011 15:59

Hi Fatshionista, welcome to group!

Loooopy, my dh had hand, foot and mouth, his main symptom was a mouth full of nasty ulcers making it impossible to eat, so if a child goes off eating it's a good thing to check for. They can also get small blisters on hands and feet, hence the name and feel generally a bit unwell. It's actually very common and normally fairly mild, we think dh probably caught it from one of the dcs without us even realising they had it.

Hope William's feeling better soon bunny.

bunnygirl80 · 08/09/2011 00:48

looopy hand foot and mouth is a virus that's pretty common in children, it's highly contagious so tends to happen in mini-epidemics in daycare centres/schools. They get ulcers in their mouth, and blisters on the skin - often on the hands and feet but can be elsewhere as well. It looks horrible, but like wimba said, it's usually quite mild, although the mouth ulcers are painful so eating is a challenge.

Fenouille · 08/09/2011 19:59

Bunny [ouch] at having to tell all the other mothers. Hope Will's feeling better soon.

My doctor's theory about the associated colds to teething is that the irritated gums spread to the sinuses and then to snotty noses. I was a bit Hmm because N's first 4 teeth came through without any problems at all (and all at once as well!) but he's now getting the next four and he's had an awful week.

JennyPiccolo · 12/09/2011 01:06

Can i join too? My wee girl was born november the 10th.

AWimbaWay · 12/09/2011 09:56

Hi Jenny, welcome to thread. I have 3 dcs, my youngest, little girl, born October 19th 2010, she was due November which is why i'm on this thread, joined when it was the antenatal thread!

My ds starts school tomorrow which I must admit I'm looking forward to. It will seem strange it being just me and Lottie during the school day, I've upped the activities to try and keep her entertained, so will now be doing 2 baby groups and little gym.

She's going through a really clingy moany stage at the moment which is quite draining, only happy when I'm walking around holding her, my back is starting to feel the strain!

Hope everyone else is well?

TheLaineyWayIsEssex · 12/09/2011 10:06

Hi Jenny, welcome to the thread!
Everyone else, i have name changed, shouldn't be too hard to figure who
I am.
Having a rotten time these last few days with Finn. He had a cold all last week, which got worse on Friday when at nursery when he developed a temperature, which he he still has today, but lower than it has been. spiking between 37.9 on calpol up to 39.2 without, . Have had three nights of barely any sleep, and have resorted to cosleeping to try and maximise it. He is cutting his top front 2 teeth so think it is all related. Think he might also have an ear infection as keeps tugging them and shrugging his ear to his shoulder on one side.
On the downside he is barely eating at all, and has lost 8oz. Not sure if that is anything to worry about or if it will all creep on once he is well again. So he is now lighter than he was 6 weeks ago Confused
Totally exhausted and have to prepare from my interview tomorrow
Have resorted to plonking him in front of cbeebies after failed breakfast attempt.
Hoe everyone else is ok

bunnygirl80 · 12/09/2011 11:26

fen thankfully they've all been very nice about it. One of the other babies caught it but she only had a very mild case so we're all still on speaking terms Grin

Welcome jenny My DS was born on the 11th Smile

AWimba hope DS enjoys his first day of school and Lottie becomes a bit less limpit like

lainey poor Finn. Hope he feels better soon. Good luck with the interview

I'm seriously thinking about putting a bell round Will's neck and shouting "unclean unclean" after him wherever he goes. We're now fully over the hfm, and the doc we saw on Saturday saw where all the blisters had been and declared it was the worst case she's seen in ages. Sad All was well until yesterday afternoon, when we were driving back from the shops. Heard Will do a little gaggy type cough so thought he'd tried to eat something he'd found back there. Opened the car door when we got back to find him covered head to toe in sick. Cleaned him up, brought him in, and he seemed perky enough, so thought maybe he had gagged on something and made himself sick, so proceeded to give him a bottle and then put him down for his nap. Within 5 mins of getting up he was sick again - this time the poor thing was very very unhappy. We got him changed, had lots of cuddles, and then he just started vomiting repeatedly for about an hour. Poor thing had very little left in his stomach so it was mostly just heaving and bringing up acid Sad He then dozed in my arms for a bit before waking and continuing to be sick. We whisked him off to GP casualty where he promptly perked up and commenced smiling and waving at everyone - thankfully Hmm he was sick again so at least I didn't look like a totally paranoid pfb mummy.

Stupid doctor told me off for having given him a bottle after he'd been sick the first time, but how was I meant to know at that stage that he was really ill. We had to stay at the hospital for a couple of hours feeding him 5ml water every 5 mins until he could keep something down. Same doctor then said to do that if he got hungry overnight, then to feed him lemonade today Hmm Along with the cow's milk he should be drinking as his main drink by now [double hmm]

He's been fine today Grin so held off on the lemonade and just fed him as normal. Decided his appetite was definitely back when I left my lunch unattended to answer the phone and came back to discover it had been stolen, partially eaten and the rest deposited in my shoe Grin

Fenouille · 14/09/2011 18:53

Sorry to hear about all the ill babies, I hope they're on the mend now (with the aid of lemonade Hmm where necessary).

The big news of today - Norry has taken his first steps Shock. I'm off on a business trip next week so I'm expecting him to be running by the time I get back :p
