Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
newmum001 · 11/07/2011 19:27

banana but i am a bad mum, as all those evil bitches said when i put Grace in a forward facing car seat Grin i didn't think it sounded like you were saying that at all.

I'll give it a couple of weeks i think but definitely going to stop after that.

Regarding your question, i still feel a bit of pain and was worried that id been stitched up wrong but it's definitely getting better now although i am still very aware of it. I also get a bit of pressure sometimes if i've been sitting funny, kind of like a throbbing feeling. I was going to go to the doctors but as it's eased off i can't see much point. Sorry if this is a bit eww but i do find it easier if i'm on top i feel more relaxed cause i know i can go at my own pace. Also use lube Blush

bananacurry · 11/07/2011 19:28

Oh yeah! I'd forgotten about that. Yes you are! I retract that last post! Grin

I had thought about the lube thing! might try that! God I'm glad you lot are invisable!!!!!

cinnamongreyhound · 11/07/2011 19:38

When you sterilise you are only sterilising the bottles though bananacurry it's the hot water poured onto the formula that is killing the bacteria in formula. So if you don't sterilise but use 70C water to make up bottles then you are killing those bacteria that may be in formula but taking the risk that those left in the bottle will multiply once the milk is made up. It's a rough guide I suppose there has to be a cut off, makes me laugh about weighing them too once they are one they weighed with clothes on so they could gain a lot of weight if you take them a week before one and a week after! I only have slight discomfort if we get the wrong angle but otherwise no pain. Pain that severe doesn't sound normal to me :(

sassy34264 · 11/07/2011 19:57

well obviously my sex life is zero! but i dont have that pain either, definately needs investigating.
mine are in forward facing car seats now too. got them from kiddicare and they are suitable from 9 months onwards, so i am in the good mum tick box for once. Grin
im also good with the milk....... cos i cant be arsed/not organised enough to make them up all at once. babies scream at the kitchen gate while im doing them though. its not that i leave it too late- just as soon as they realise what im doing they set off!

bananacurry · 11/07/2011 20:01

I know cinnamon but what I'm saying is that if you're not making the bottles up at they recommend they why fuss about sterilising because you're exposing them to the bacteria anyway, its a bit like..... I'm trying to think of a clever analagy! erm! Oh I don't know but there's more likely to be more bacteria in a wrongly made up bottle than in one that hasn't been sterilised!!!

The clothes & weighing makes me laugh too!

SeaChelles · 11/07/2011 20:18

Well I have conjunctivitis - shock horror! And also a virus in my throat and ears (which I hadnt even noticed as my eyes were so bad! Oops!) Never mind - eyes feel alot better at the min. But be a good sport cinammon and post me some boobie milk eh? bananas orders?! Wink Do you think it will travel well......hehehe.

Good to know its not just our sex life thats rubbish! I get some pain, but towards the back round the perreneum (sp?) area. Normally afterwards, but sometimes during if the angle is wrong. I just feel like I've lost my mojo to be honest - I haven't got a sex drive anymore...... Sad

I make up the bottles in full everymorning as I have to take one to the childminder for him - so I think I will keep sterilising for now.

I haven't had Oliver weighed since he was 6 months....is that really bad? Both my Mum and MIL commented at the weekend that he looked as though he lost weight, however he doesn't feel any lighter and has grown 3 or 4cm in the last month, so I think thats what it is.

comixminx · 11/07/2011 20:20

Gosh I'm behind! Loads of comments to catch up on.

I've never bought a maxi-dress, also being short, but I've been really liking a longish skirt I bought in White Stuff - about calf length and with great pockets.

Haven't sterilised for ages! I stopped expressing ages ago so didn't bother after that, but when the bottle has been used for the odd rare formula feed then it's just been washed up after - this is all post the 6 month mark.

DPs - very glad to hear your DP is ok sassy and sorry to hear of any temperamental difficulties with others. DP and I are having a nice time thankfully, apart from hardly any sex cos of tiredness / Aphra being around!

bananacurry · 11/07/2011 20:20

But Sassy what do they weigh??????????? I think I can tick the bad mummy box again. Ollys forward facing but not 9kgs yet!

JodeyBogeyPicker · 11/07/2011 20:22

Hey all! Only 9 working days left and I'm counting every second! newmum know what u mean regarding new hazards and crawling. Harlyn is completely obsessed with the tv stand and the vbox. I try not to move him away as it just makes him want it more so I just hover behind him and watch like a hawk! He actually pulled himself up to standing on it for the first time today.

I've stopped steralising and also prep my bottles with water, store in the fridge then add powder and heat when he's due. I've also started giving him his afternnoon milk in a beaker rather than a bottle which he's taken to really easily. Can't wait to switch to cows milk though.

To those having relationship problems. I definately have less patience with my dh. Little things annoy me and it's normally down to him not doing anything round the house. He has his moments though, as when I got home today he had cooked dinner as well as looking after
Harlyn all day! Bless him.

Harlyn's hair is starting to grow a little wild! It's almost touching his eyes at the front and is growing longer at the back. I need to get it cut before it turns into a mullet!

comixminx · 11/07/2011 20:27

And chelle - you shouldn't worry about not weighing Oliver too much, the advice now is just to weigh them at immunisations so that's not until he's a year or so! I bet he hasn't really lost weight, just redistributed it a bit as you say. I got Aphra weighed about a month ago because that was around when she was starting at nursery and I wanted to be able to check that she was eating enough there, so wanted to get a "baseline" measure. She'd gone up a few percentiles from the 2nd to the 9th! She is looking less chubby at wrists, knees, and cheeks, but she's definitely growing overall.

She's doing so well at eating plenty and at taking steps while holding our hands. She also loves us to turn her upside down in a somersault!

sassy34264 · 11/07/2011 20:44

Blush Grin i dont know the weight the seats start at or the weights of the babies! ha. so near yet so far for a good mum tick.......stomps off to eat something comforting. Grin
want a laugh. my 10 yr old daughter has decided to pluck her eyebrows, except she has no idea of what you're suppose to do and has just plucked the 1st inch of her eyebrows off! making her eyes look further apart than they actually are. was mortified when i 1st saw them but its one of those where you end up bursting out laughing.

SeaChelles · 11/07/2011 20:45

Olly has been in his FF carseat for ages now too newmum, mine had no age restriction on it but said over 9kg and he has been over that for months....little chubster. I think he is going to be heavy like his dad. DP is not fat by any stretch, but is 6 foot 3 and 18 stone and built like a brick shithouse!

Olly see's when you have you own food now and comes and stand next to you with his mouth open like a little greedy bird!

SeaChelles · 11/07/2011 20:47

sassy - poor Chloe - she will be mortified with herself!! But I am laughing....dont tell her!! Grin

cinnamongreyhound · 11/07/2011 20:50

Got some in the freezer I can get dh to fedex to you from work SeaChelles but I reckon antibiotics will do a better job!

Luke loves being upside down too comixminx. Here the recommendation is once a month for weighing until one. I would agree with you that Oliver may have thinned out as he's so active but probably hasn't lost weight. I sat Luke on our home scales today and he's exactly 10Kg.

cinnamongreyhound · 11/07/2011 20:52

Luke clacks his Tongue when I have something he wants SeaChelles!!

bananacurry · 11/07/2011 20:57

Ollys fave game is to launch himself off the settee, backwards, forwards, upside down, any way!!!

lol at chloe sassy but she's brave! plucking hurts!

Chelle are you sure it doesn't have an age?? I though all ff car seats were 9 months+ (I'm not flaming you!!!Grin )

SeaChelles · 11/07/2011 21:03

Nope banana no age - we both read the distructions from cover to cover because we were sure there should be an age - but all it said was over 9kg. which was good really seeing as he was ready to go in it at 7 months.... Shock

Oliver likes being upside down too. His fave game is for DP or I to get on the floor and chase him round and round and round.... (you get the picture!) coffee table. He thinks its ace. Grin

sassy34264 · 11/07/2011 21:23

shes also made a bloody mess of her leg too, trying to shave! i thought she'd been self harming it was that bad. god knows how she was holding the razor. it must have bled forever. its frightening how fast they try to grow up. ive done some daft things too, so i havent gone mad at her. i remember reading that you could bleach dark hairs on your lip..........so out came the domestos! i had 2 scabs at either side of my top lip for weeks where it had burnt my skin off!!!!! Blush Smile Grin obviously gets her brains from me.
isobel has started to fight back against jacob. he always, always wants whatever she is playing with and just takes it off her. last few times she has opened her mouth really wide, made a roar like a lion and bit him! they're vicious my kids.

JodeyBogeyPicker · 11/07/2011 21:42

Lmao sassy! Bless em. Harlyn has started to bite people! Not in anger or temper but just when he's excited [hhmm]. he was doing it to a pillow yesterday during a mad couple of minutes. Super cute.

Well I've list THE RED BOOK!!! Haven't Bern able to find it since the move! Gggrrrrr! I'm gona have to go through every container in the garage methinks.

Hope your eyes get better soon chelle.

saoirse86 · 11/07/2011 21:51

Car seats fall into certain legal categories for weight and age IYSWIM, so a stage 1 seat is from 9 months or 9kg, whichever comes latest. Even if it doesn't say it, it still falls into a certain weight/age category. If you put them in before they have reached either 9kg or 9 months that's illegal and theretically you could get arrested or fined (similar to not wearing a seat belt in a way). I bought a FF seat a few months ago while it was on offer, but between buying it and needing it I read far too many stories and watched far too many crash tests and ended up buying a RF that's suitable from 9kg/months to 36kg/6 years. I intend to get my money's worth out of it too!

I don't have pain during or after sex, just feel tighter and it takes more, ahem, effort to get me ready. Blush I do get shooting/cramping pains in my bits but getting it less and less often so haven't bothered going to a doctor about it.

I haven't had Orlaith weighed since she was 4.5 months, do I win any prizes for that?! Grin Wink

saoirse86 · 11/07/2011 21:51

Oh god, now I've realised I sounded judgey and I wasn't being, just rambling about stuff I've read far too much about!

newmum001 · 11/07/2011 22:28

Sassy I got mine from kiddicare as well. It's their own midi one. Just ordered another 2, one for my mums car and one for dp's mums car as I don't drive and go out with my mum every friday and I'm phobic about taking ours out of our car too often as I'm convinced it'll make it unsturdy! I swear to god the rest of my family are lucky bastards, when they have kids they're not gonna have to spend a penny as we have a million prams and car seats ready to pass on!

Saoirse you don't sound judgey, I thought it was 9 month - 9kgs as well. In face the evil bitches on my car seat thread made me very aware of the facts Grin I didn't watch any of the video's they linked cause I'd made my mind up and knew they'd upset me.

newmum001 · 11/07/2011 22:31

Oooooh I forgot, grace pulled herself up to standing today. She kind of did it a couple of weeks ago but today she stood for ages!

Jodey - grace has always been a biter but she's stopped doing it in the last few weeks. She's now moved on to pinching which hurts a lot and she now says ow when she's doing it cause I've said it so many times!

JodeyBogeyPicker · 11/07/2011 22:51

Ha ha! Harlyn went through a pinching stage a few weeks back and yes, it bloody hurts. It wasn't just a pinch, it was like 'pinch and twist'! Little buggers.

JodeyBogeyPicker · 11/07/2011 22:57

As for car seats, we have one forward facing in dh car but I need a new one in mine as his rear facing is way too small and probably illegal too as he's over 9 months a weighs shit loads (must be at least 30lbs now). Not getting him weighed till he's one now ( if I can resist).

saoirse do u have a link for the rear facing one? Who is it by? And was it expensive?
