Ah, Soc, sounds like a bloody nightmare. Sending you mental immodium and iron nostrils (plus super-strong coffee) to help you cope. I hope everyone gets over their various ailments soon...

Yes, wrt ttc, those girl sperm can stick around for quite a few days, so we may manage to go pop without a daily deluge around ov time... FX!

Ooh, how exciting PA! Something to think about every time your boss starts behaving like an arse...

I can only assume Easter Hols activities have temporarily submerged our other regulars. [busmile]

we've been a bit lax in the TTC department. DD had taken to waking up as soon as we went into the room. A week of early nights is in store for us next week. We've agreed!

Glad you're doing OK IC :)

UK does get a massive weekend so they're prob off doing RL stuff and enjoying their weather. We've got a week of lovely weather predicted, it's been alright here but due to get mid 20's again. It was nice having a cooler week though.

I wanted to show you our latest blog as I think there are nice pictures there, especially the one of DD and DH.

SocietyClowns · 25/04/2011 18:36

Well, my expectations have changed somewhat from sightseeing, ice creams, cycling, picnics, swimming, evenings out with dh.... to getting everyone well enough to fly home without being turned away at the airport or producing toxic smells on the plane! Grin

StoneBaby · 25/04/2011 18:56

PA great news on the holiday plans. I had a quick look at your blog Smile

DS can now have a drink from a sport cap bottle, make things easier when you don't have a breaker to hand.

bethylou · 25/04/2011 22:42

Get well to all your family SC. Sounds like my worst kind of nightmare and I fully endorse the week in a spa thought once your DH is well. .

IC I was just thinking about you today and wondering how you and DH were feeling now. Glad to hear you are feeling strong. Good luck with the TTC. PA I presume you mean TTC purely from a recreational point of view?!! We've managed twice in a week, which is almost a pre-children record, let alone since!!

DS1 bounced back amazingly quickly thank goodness and we've had a lovely sunny weekend with friends. Some quality time at home too so feeling a little more refreshed and together. Work for me on Wednesday but DH is off all week so will be leaving him a list of jobs for the day Smile.

Hi to BC and SB - and anyone else I've accidentally forgotten.

bethylou · 25/04/2011 22:42

oo scary bold again - sorry IC - not really shouting or anything!

PenguinArmy · 25/04/2011 22:43

bethylou I figure it's good to stay practiced and I couldn't -think of another way of putting it--.

PenguinArmy · 26/04/2011 02:38

DD has now learned to climb the sofa unaided. I guess she'll be learning how to fall from the sofa unaided this week as well Grin

LittlebearH · 26/04/2011 07:26

Hi...marking my place! Still no internet connection at home. I am at my wits end with BT and Sky now. Both say there is nothing wrong and it is down to the other to sort out!! Have a BT engineer coming out on Thursday allegedly..which they might charge me £130.00 for the privilage!

Will catch up soon I hope :)

InmaculadaConcepcion · 26/04/2011 07:42

How frustrating, LBH, I hope they get it sorted soon.

Twice in a week, bethy, yeeha!!
It's okay, I know you weren't shouting - just expressing your concern for me very vehemently indeed Grin

PA, I was going to comment that surely you and your DH TTC was closing the door after the horse had well and truly bolted heh heh....!

I'm impressed with these grown-up bottle drinking babies - DD always just looks a bit confused if I offer her anything other than her sippy cup.

I do hope everyone's feeling a bit brighter today, Soc. And you're remaining immune to all the damn bugs surrounding you.

We've had sleep-throughs every night since returning from France, hoorah! This morning was an early wake up, though - 05.00. Luckily, DD was happy to snuggle up and sleep for another hour or so with me. I think I managed to doze a bit, too.
Meanwhile, we're stealing ourselves for tomorrow's four-jab shenanigans .

Here's DD and us on holiday for those who haven't spotted it on FB and fancy a gander Smile

Hi everyone

Soc sending bagloads of sympathy your way. Sounds horrendous. When are you due to travel back? You really really will need a break after all this. When DH is recovered I hope he gives you some time off to really relax. Good luck with the ongoing recoveries.

Also sympathies to all the others suffering with illness.

Way to go bethy! Wink

PA just wow your road trip sounds so amazing. Envy Envy Envy I went to California a few years ago and just adored it, Yosemite and San Fran were my favourites by far. I'd love to go back.

Very cute pics PA and IC. Good luck with the TTC IC, just enjoy it!

LBH Hmm at operators' reaction to your internet problems. It's never their fault is it? FX for you that it's sorted soon. Can't imagine no internet at home - we used to manage somehow, didn't we?

We had such a lovely Easter break, only slightly marred by me being in a really bad mood for half of it Blush I'm not sleeping very well and am just not feeling particularly happy about my impending happy event, tbh. The high point of the weekend was on Sunday when DD started walking Grin - finally! She hasn't seemed bothered to practice much since then but at least we know she can do it.

DD got four Easter eggs, none of which I will allow her to eat herself Blush

SconesForTea · 26/04/2011 10:57

Oh and thanks for the thread IC!

Stangirl · 26/04/2011 12:17

Hiya - I'm here! I have a lot to catch up on. I spent a week in the Yorkshire Dales and then the Easter w/e at my Mum's. I thought the Dales wouldn't be my cup of tea - too much countryside and healthy pursuits but loved it. DP spent week reminiscing about childhood holidays in Cumbria (his family being posh) whereas as mine were in caravan parks in crap seaside resorts where we all played bingo and the slot machines in the evenings or went to the pub.

DD is now walking backwards and spinning on the spot but has decided to stop eating again (sigh).

ChestnutSoup · 26/04/2011 13:14

Hello everyone and thanks for the new thread IC.

Sounds like our moods are up and down and round and round at the moment - mine too. DH and I are not getting on very well, mainly because I'm struggling to do as much as I did when I was on mat leave but working three days. Although we are lucky enough to have a cleaner, I do all the cooking, laundry, shopping, organising (ranging from paying bills to organising social stuff or even just the childcare), and 12 of the 14 childcare runs a week. In DH's defence, he works long hours (usually out at 8am, and not back until past 7pm, so I usually deal with the DDs in the evening on my own during the week). I think I'm just tired, to be honest .

DD2 is finally better, and I have regained my voice but have a nasty cough.

:(

Sorry, very me post. I don't come on for ages, then I just whinge. Very unattractive, sorry.

PA glad you have quit your job and are planning for the future. When do you return to the sunny UK?

IC good luck with the TTC!

rainbow glad your DH got out of his grump.

chinook yay at work going well! Hope the nursery runs settle down soon.

beth, Soc, BC hope you and your LOs are feeling better.

scones hope your mood has improved?

LBH back online yet?

stan how's the eating?

Schro where are you?! Everything OK?

PenguinArmy · 26/04/2011 15:04

I've been wondering about stoof (with my impending move and all)

chesnut I am out 11 hours as well. OK I don't do a lot but that's mainly because we do the bare minimum and I help a lot by doing the sit down jobs (finances/folding washing/nappies). I also do the majority of the night stuff so it evens out, plus at weekends we catch up. Anyway it annoys me when people play the work card.

IC It was less that we offer the bottle and more that she grabs it off us all the time. That's how she drank from a open glass/cup so early. (although we still hold it). She would always put her whole mouth over the opening and then Sunday she worked out she had to put it half in her mouth. It's quite impressive watching them when they get something for the first time.

Stangirl I loved our caravan holidays (that's probably because we were left to run wild free). In fact when we were in the UK we went on some of the Sun holidays Grin Glad you enjoyed Yorkshire.

StoneBaby · 26/04/2011 19:05

PA well done for telling your boss. Does your DD has discovered how to undo the velcro on her BG? DS can undo them and be nappy free by the time I put his vest on! Shock

Schro is not posting on FB either, hope that she's okay.

CS whinge as much as you want. It is hard to combine everything plus getting a relationship plus having a rest. PS: give me the address of your cave, I'll use it once you've finished with it Grin

DS christening on Sunday, family will start to arrive tomorrow.

bethy glad to know your DS1 is on the mend.

SC when are you back? I hope the journey goes smoothly and agree with the others, you deserve a pampering rest. Wine

bethylou · 26/04/2011 22:33

Baggsing a go in the cave please and hoping you are able to reassess things with DH soon CS. I had to chat to DH about the 'balance' of things when I'd been back to work for a couple of weeks. I think they get very used to us doing it all while on maternity leave and are not going to offer to change things unless we suggest it. I have suggested it again in the last couple of weeks as I still feel completely overwhelmed at times.

SB hope the Chrosteneing goes well.

SC hope your silence today doen't mean you now have it too?

PA glad you have told your boss. Celebrate in the sack with DH Wink!!

IC very jealous of the sleep-throughs still. Variety is the name of the game here, though worse rather than better at the mo.

Scones hope you feel better soon about the impending arrival. I went through scared patches during pregnancy with DS2 if that's any consolation.

LBH I hate BT for similar reasons. Keep on at them!
Stan another one who used to enjoy holidays in a caravan (at Brean - ring any bells?) Now, I love the scenery of the mountains or the 'proper' coastal scenery of Cornwall - and a good body board session best).

Work tomorrow. DS2 now climbing and running so back to work for a sit down and refuel!!

LeMousquetaireAnonyme · 27/04/2011 07:35

I am OK don't worry. Thanks for the concern Smile.
found a cave and trying to ignore the 2 gnomes following me everywhere complaining all the time.

hugs to all esp. soc
schro.

SocietyClowns · 27/04/2011 09:03

schro good to hear from you!! Tell us more about your little monsters darlings... Smile. I always like to compare yours to mine to see how mad mine are Grin

beth I'm still okay so far but my dad now has D&V and dd1 shows no sign of improvement... dd2 seemed better yesterday but is totally listless this morning which worries me more than if she was screaming. Ah well.
Love the idea of time off or a spa break Wink. No such luck though because dh is straight back to work next week while dd1 has another week off nursery, so I have both girls at home on my own.

SconesForTea · 27/04/2011 09:46

Soc I am firmly instructing you now to book a weekend away in a month or so and leave the DDs with DH for the weekend. You too bethy!

I am having a weekend in Paris with my sister in a month and shamefully I'm not very excited about it Blush I have been to Paris many times, so am not so interested in walking round and seeing things - all I really want to do is sit somewhere and read my book. But it's my sister's first proper visit and she'll want to see all the sights. I must stop moaning! She is a journalist and has got us two nights free in a marvellous hotel while she reviews it. When oh when will I start to glow?

Good to hear you're ok Mous

What would anyone serve with potato salad for lunch? Have loads of new pots to use up, but no idea what to serve with it Confused

chinook · 27/04/2011 12:56

scones I would think that 2 nights in a fabulous hotel in Paris might help you glow a little?! I often find that things I am not looking forward to so much end up being things I really enjoy. No high expectations I guess. I am sure you will have a lovely time when you get there. And I don't want to scare those of you expecting number 2, but I have found it much more tiring with 2 than one, and I really have no time to myself. So enjoy it while you can......

sc you poor thing. You sound so upbeat in what must be a tricky time for you. Hope everyone starts to get better soon.

I am so excited about tomorrow. Dd will be at school and ds will be at nursery. I am not working and will have 6 whole hours to myself. Utter bliss. Mind you I will have to spend some of the time making a princess costume for dd to wear to school for their Royal Wedding celebrations. grrrr......

ChestnutSoup · 27/04/2011 13:28

Scones relax in paris if you can - surely you'll need to try all the hotel facilities for your sister's review? Maybe you can do that while she absorbs the sights? And I would do fish with potato salad for lunch. Panfried salmon, perhaps. Or a couple of sausages.

chinook I am sending DD1 to a royal wedding party as an Indian princess, so she only has to wear her salwar kameez with some pretend bling! Can you adopt a similar strategy? Don't sew all day...

Schro there's a queue for the cave - stone and I are at the front with beth, so keep us posted as to when you leave. Hope you are OK, and your DDs aren't driving you too crazy.

Soc any improvement with the LOs or your dad?

beth sounds like you are suffering as I am. Has the chat with your DH helped? I feel like I'm banging my head against a wall.

Bearcrumble · 27/04/2011 13:39

Ham omlette with potato salad maybe? Or smoked mackerel. Sorry probably too late for your lunch now.

SconesForTea · 27/04/2011 14:06

Bingo! - we are having smoked mackerel. My friend is running very late so we haven't eaten yet. DD will be awake by the time we try to have lunch...

InmaculadaConcepcion · 27/04/2011 14:25

Hello everyone!

I'm very pleased to hear from the returned regulars and read all your news. (And I'm just as pleased to hear from everyone else too!)

I'm sorry, I"m going to be really lazy and not do loads of name-checking, although I have read and inwardly digested all the posts.

I just wanted to ask what (if any) reactions your LOs had to the last set of jabs?
DD had her four (four!) injections this morning covering boosters for meningococcal something, diptheria and something else, the MMR and a Chicken Pox vacination. We've been told her legs may swell up a bit in the next couple of days and she may get feverish. Then she may get feverish again in ten days time.
She seems fine so far (although screamed at the time, poor little mite), but it's only been a few hours.
DD's now 7.9 kg (300g short of her curve) and 71cm tall. The nurse said that was all fine and roughly what it should be, so no major worries there. She's still dinky, though! Not that I was expecting her to magically shoot up within three months.....!
I usually put her in a 1.0 tog Grobag and a sleepy suit, but may put her in a loose-fitting long-sleeve body tonight. It's hard to tell if she'll be too hot in that or not. Anyway, paracetamol and ibuprofen on standby....
