July 2010: C'mon threadbabes: eat like MLIC's; drink like TSC's; smile like Memphis's; laugh like Cakes's; crawl like nearly all of them (except Cake's)... but mainly: sleep like Spireals

am so with you on that one tsc. someone I know used to actually lock their son in his room at 'rest time' and his room was emptied of everything but the bed so when he kicked off about it he couldn't actually break anything. Poor kid still has 'rest time' in the afternoon at the weekends, even though his is now at school. Oh and he used to go to bed at 6pm (not up until 8/8.30am - well out of his room). Again I think he used to take his bed apart until he eventually crashed on the floor. I used to see him looking out the window at 8/9pm cos he was still awake, then he was watching what was going on out in the street by 7am. Bizarrely he is quite a well adjusted little boy

Chulita · 12/05/2011 14:51

I shut L in her room at lunchtime, I don't give her a treat but she goes up to bed around 12. She usually sleeps but sometimes she just potters around her room playing. If she cries I go and get her cos I agree with you tsc on the older child crying for a reason. I'd never leave her there crying so I could have a break but if I didn't shut her in she'd never sleep and she almost always needs to!
cake it might just take him a while to realise that he's not getting bed snuggles anymore and then he'll stop waking up quite so much.

MelissaM · 12/05/2011 14:52

needle I can knit (just about) but don't know how to knit a tea cosie. if it is easy, I could give it a go

Chulita · 12/05/2011 15:47

I would help needle but it's taken me since October to finish this jumper, I'm very slow and have a top for L to make before she outgrows the pattern so I won't offer my knitting services just yet Grin

Needle · 12/05/2011 16:16

Thanks ladies- I need people who can cable, and I need about 20 of the wretched things. I think I'm going to appeal to the ladies at church for help!

Oh bloody hell tsc, how horrible for you! How did that happen?

WhatSheSaid · 12/05/2011 19:02

G was up 7 times last night and i have no idea why. She didn't seem to be in pain so I don't think it's teeth. I gave her some Pamol anyway (like calpol). I am really really fucking over today and it's only 6am.

MelissaM · 12/05/2011 19:05

Omg tsc that sounds awful. What the hell happened?

Oh no wss hope your day gets better and you manage to get some rest

tsc that sounds awful. The big M+S in town? It's a pretty huge place too.

I'm feeling a bit better now, trying to keep it all in perspective - not the end of the world being up a few times at night - it won't be for ever - the kids are happy and healthy - it's a gorgeous sunny autumn day and when G wakes up from her morning sleep we're off to the park (with a big flask of extra-strong coffee for me Grin)

needle I can't knit either! Well, my mum taught me when I was about 8 but I never mastered the casting on/casting off business...

MelissaM · 12/05/2011 22:27

That's awful Tsc. At least u are all safe and no harm done.

Think I'm in for a fun night! L is still awake. Wldn't settle at 7. Eventually git hi quiet in he'd about 8.20 then he started crying like something was wrong a couple of mins later. Tried settling him twice more but then had to leave dh to deal with him while I went to get fish & chips (shuts at 9). They were both downstairs when I got back as L.had thrown up while I was out. Has been sick again too (while I was eating my tea, so I cldn't finish it. Will be starving later :( Not a great start to my crash diet!
Oh he's just fallen asleep having half crawled over me! I hoped he'd crash eventually
Wss sounds like a nice day planned. Have fun.
Good night everyone else

CakeandRoses · 12/05/2011 23:14

hope your night isn't as crap as you fear melissa

that sounds so scary tsc. I had a near miss yday in an M&S lift too funnily enough but it was my fault - my heart skipped a beat. hopefully you'll soon forget the worst of it and be able to add it to the long list of 'things our children do to make us prematurely grey'

sounds like a nice day mlic, you deserve it Smile. did E go down ok tonight?

in other news, i just sold an armchair on ebay for £75 which is a nice bit towards the playroom cost. I rock at selling shit on ebay Grin

DesperateHousewife21 · 13/05/2011 08:27

God tsc Id feel sick too if that happened to me. Glad you got them back fairly quickly.

Ive got a cooking group this morning, think we're making bread. Then Im off to see a friend.

CakeandRoses · 13/05/2011 08:39

Cookery group sounds fun dh

memph I would have been nagging you if I knew you still hadn't been to docs!

mlic yay for sleeping thru and your new positive mental attitude!

All best laid plans went to shit here last night as both of them were v unhappy with teething. We ended up in bed with one of them each so got some sleep at least. Playbarn with friends later and also packing as off to brighton tomo to see mother.

DesperateHousewife21 · 13/05/2011 08:41

Yeah we make 3 or 4 dishes every week in teams of 3 and then try everyones at the end. Thats the best bit!

malibustac · 13/05/2011 11:29

Hi ladies

I have tried and failed to catch up have a serious case of pmt. Dp away to Blackpool tomorrow for a stag do but my aunt is taking dc's so I am having a girly night.

Melissa if you find a crash diet that works let me know I am at a wedding a week today. A friend says pineapple and rasberries are great because they speed up metaboloism, also memphis mentioned the flabelos which help drop a dress size

Tsc I would have been crying about kids too, you must have had such a scare.

Mlic loving the pma, seems W has settled down. Is he better during the day as a result of better sleep?

Last night was quite shit with R but I think it was because she hadn't taken her supper so kept wanting bottles. Back to force feeding tonight I think. Also the dribbling has started again so think round 3 of teeth are arriving. Cakes are you still using the amber necklace?

Also R was offered a place in nursery 3 days per week but I couldnt accept due to still being unemployed. I need a bloody job. Also need to get my cv sorted so it looks better but I am crap at that sort of thing.

What you all up to this weekend? Tsc hows the finding your mojo? I have to find mine quick for this wedding next week as have a dress and heels I dont think I can walk in
