CakeandRoses · 11/05/2011 07:27

did you note my separate post re my survey answers to please you mlic? Smile

I feel a bit bad seeing your posts about yours having 2 naps and the morning one being so much earlier than poor A's but she seems cool with it and doesn't get grumpy in the afternoon (or tired enough to cat nap) so I guess it must be working for her.

It is hard to please a baby and toddler sometimes isn't it? I guess i've mostly made A fit in with F but have been lucky that she's easygoing (and that he still naps - and in the late morning too).

anyone heard from dylthan lately?

Oh and mlic, you'd be proud, F has only crept back into our bed twice (and once was a misunderstanding between dh and i) in the last month or so since i said i'd try us going into him to settle him after being inspired by you lying down with E that time. So thank you for that!

is your dh over his strop yet?

morning all, i finally think this letting L cry it out in the morning is working, he woke at 5.45, gave him a feed, then dropped off again, woke at 6.45, i went in lay him down, he cried for 5 mins instead of the usual hour + then slept i imagine then i went in at 7.30 and he was playing! I was going to get up with him at 6.45 as it was later but trying to get it into his mind that i wont take him downstairs straight away, dh puts him n cot to play while he showers and hes fine, i put him in cot while i get dressed and he screams!!
mlic hope it passes soon, you are such an amazing wife, after 12 hours of the silent treatment i would have put laxative in his food Grin
tsc dh has industrial hourse hair clippers that you hook up to a generator if you need them to help get your mojo back ??
meeting my support group ladies today, not feeling up to it but im going to go anywat, i have a whacking great ulcer on my top lip so i look like a duck!!

Chulita · 11/05/2011 08:06

Mini-survey about naps

How many a day? 2

Times? 8-8.30 for about an hour and 12 for 1.5-2 hours

Location? in sleeping bag in cot

How long does it take to get him/her down? no time at all, about once a week he puts up a fight for the lunchtime nap but I always win.

S definitely fits in with L, we go out every morning so I wake him up if he doesn't wake on his own. In the afternoon L will sleep til about 2.30-3 so S and I potter around the house for a bit til she wakes up.

mlic I hope your DH drags himself out of his sulk soon. I know the feeling, my DH is really, really, really moody.
DH got into a HUGE strop at church on Sunday cos the 2 children were being really noisy/not sitting quietly with their legs crossed drawing pictures of Jesus. Usually he's ok about it but for some reason he was really snapping at me. I really have to suck up my moodiness cos some days we're both horrendously moody and he won't snap out of it so it's up to me. I do tell him off sometimes for sulking and let him know that it's my turn to sulk so he's not allowed to. He gets over it by me poking him repeatedly or asking him to demonstrate with his arms just how irritated he his with me and then over-reacting when he finally does. The sillier I am with him the quicker he snaps out of it and then he apologises but sometimes I'm really hurt/pissed off with him so it takes me a while to get the energy to tease him. 19 times out of 20 I'm the one who caves first.

stac I forgot to answer re timings on cc, you still going to try it?

memphis83 · 11/05/2011 08:06

oh and...
naps usually one could be 11 or 2

location in his pushchair if we are out but usually in his recliner chair, never ever his cot!!!

duration of nap, could be 10 mins could be 2 hours, yesterday all he did was winge winge winge, he dropped off at 2.30 and woke at 5!!!

Chulita · 11/05/2011 08:21

:) I've just heard that my friend who lost her little boy in October is pg again, so pleased for her. Her last little boy was born with an unsurvivable heart problem so I'm crossing everything that this little one is healthy!

memphis have a lovely morning!

I'm off to get the a/c on the car re-gassed, library, flower girl shoes for L and potter round town - all exciting stuff.
S has his 9 month check tomorrow which is annoying as L will miss her 'wiggles & giggles' group that she absolutely loves

Spirael · 11/05/2011 08:48

Morning all!

Nap Survey...

How many a day?
Normally 2.

Times?
About 10:30am for an hour and 1:30pm for an hour.

Location?
In her cot if at home, but quite happy to sleep in the car or the pram if we're out and about.

How long does it take to get him/her down?
The time for her to drink a bottle of milk. She seems to have made the association of milk = sleep. I'm a little nervous about what'll happen when she's meant to stop having bottles at 12 months! Hopefully a cup of milk will have the same effect.

DesperateHousewife21 · 11/05/2011 09:00

How many a day?
Sometimes 2 long ones but usually 3

Times?
Morning, after lunch and late afternoon (not every day though)

Location?
Either in bed, on the sofa, on me, in the car or in his pram.

How long does it take to get him/her down?
Not that long if hes really tired because I feed him to sleep.

Woodlands · 11/05/2011 10:01

How many naps?
Two, though very occasionally three if we have car journeys at odd times

Times?
Roughly 9.30am-10.15am and 1.30pm-3pm

Location?
Ideally in our bed (though really ought to change that to his cot before he gets mobile) but more often than not at the moment on me lying on the sofa. It's quick and easy to get him to sleep that way and it means I get a lie down and can catch up on MN guilt-free! It is a bit annoying though, I thought we were past the days of having to sleep on me. He will very rarely sleep in the buggy now, and he will sleep in the car, but you have to be going at at least 50mph for a good 10 minutes or so - not ideal in London! Luckily we live close to the north circular so we normally do start our journeys at 50mph.

How long does it take to get him down?
Depends. He has a feed before his naps but doesn't usually feed to sleep unless very tired. It can take a good half hour for him to quieten down if he's in bed on his own. On me, it takes about 5 minutes.

Needle · 11/05/2011 11:27

How many naps?
Two, morning and afternoon, but times vary.

Times?
Anything from 1- 2.30 hours.

Location?
Her cot in our room

How long to get her down?
Anything from 5- 20 minutes.

malibustac · 11/05/2011 11:41

Naps

How many a day? once sometimes twice

Times? usually about 3pm for an hour if she has 2 naps then its usually because we have been out a lot and she only sleeps for about 20mins at a time

Location? wherever she is at the time

How long does it take to get him/her down?
varies depending on her mood or how sleepy she is

malibustac · 11/05/2011 11:49

wow all your lo's sleep much better than R for naps, but she just isnt tired. Saw the hv today who gave her a good check over. She is 22lbs 2.5oz, reaching her development milestones. She said the fact that she wasnt sleeping for a couple of weeks and has went back to sleeping shows its her teeth so she doesnt think cc will work at the moment but to concentrate on pain relief. She slept well again last night only woke at 4.20 for dummy so I am convinced its the teething.

Mlic is dh speaking to you yet?

Memphis you poor soul with the ulcer, did you get your stitches out?

When it comes to stropps I'm probably the one who huffs and dp caves 90% of the time unless I have been a total bitch then I have to grovel.

Trudyla · 11/05/2011 12:08

Hello hello,

had a horrible migraine this morning. Luckily they don't seem to last so long anymore, these days, so I'm over the headache bit already, just still knackered.

MLIC God, that must be horrible. I hate an atmosphere like that and would feel very sorry for myself, especially in your shoes. I mean, it's not anybody's fault that the baby is crying and he didn't even have to get up for it or deal with it. Argh, I'm getting angry on your behalf. However, I know I would have to do something about this situation soon cos I can't live with DP not speaking to me. I hope you'll get it sorted soon.

Cake DP doesn't agree with putting photos of M up on the internet, not a secure website, nevermind FB. I do understand that though, cos FB have been known to change some settings and suddenly everything is public. The other issue is that all my photos were on my broken laptop which looks like it can't be saved (sob) so at the moment I don't even have many photos. Oh wait, I have one of her at Easter. So maybe I could put that up on the July group page for a day, so you can all see it and know her face when I'm talking about her and then I'll take it down again.

That sounds very self-important but it's not meant to be. Of course you don't have to take a look at it. Blush I'll get me coat.

Needle Hi. Good to have you back. Please do stick around.

Memphis Gosh, your poor mouth really suffers these days. Hope you'll get some pain free time soon.

Nobody can say anything about The Apprentice until the day after. We only get to watch it on Iplayer. The final of the last season was spoilt for us cos we saw a picture of the winner in an online newspaper. Arrgh.

M seems to be a different child these days. She is smiley an giggley and more patient and inquisitive. It's an utter joy to be with her. I'm so glad to know that this little girl is still in her and that the grumpy, whiny days (months) are just phases.

Weather is still gorgeous here. We're going to a nice Thai restaurant for some lunch (cos DP worked last Saturday) and then I'm meeting the neighbour and her little girl for some playground time. Happy days.

Nap survey in separate post.

Trudyla · 11/05/2011 12:12

How many a day?

Usually 2.

Times?

One short one (30 min) around 9 in the morning. One long one (2-3 hours) around 12 lunch time.

Location?

Morning one in her pram usually. Lunchtime one always in her cot with her sleeping bag. If not, it would just be a short 30 min nap. Def. not enough.

How long does it take to get him/her down?

5-10 min depending on how tired she is.

Trudyla · 11/05/2011 12:13

Thank you cake for another survey and for having the questions in a separate thread. You rock Grin

stac R seems to nap like L so they arent all great sleepers in the day, stitches all out it was fine just felt like i had lots of little needles! but this ulcer is so big i cauht it and it hurt so much i actually cried, I showed the girls at group and they thought i should go hospital to get it looked at!! its doubled in size over night even though i have pulled out all my emergency ulcer treatment from the bag to rectify it!!
mlic sounds like its improving at home but there is no need for him to act like that, dh and I have heated 'debates' but we never give each other the silent treatment, if he tried sulking with me his life wouldnt be worth living! im such a gobshite he cant ignore me Grin
Im feeling so rundown I think i need to detox and get some fruit down my neck my throat is sore as well as the sore in my mouth, group was good the woman that had it at her house today is indian and she made the most amazing lunch like a biryani but easier to cook she has given me the recipe it had veg mince in it, i had seconds and thirds!! we are planning on a meal night where the 5 of us do a course each, 3 courses, nibbles on arrival and cocktails!! but talking of going on a night on the town i realise how low my self esteem is, they all seemed so upbeat and i have come away a bit disheartened dont even know why!

Ive just watched the film Burlesque, films like that always makes me want to do whatever they are doing. I used to do burlesque dancing every week but I gave it up.

Not really realistic with a baby anyway!
