July 2010: C'mon threadbabes: eat like MLIC's; drink like TSC's; smile like Memphis's; laugh like Cakes's; crawl like nearly all of them (except Cake's)... but mainly: sleep like Spireals

Happy Mothers Day Trudyla, sounds like you had a good one

CakeandRoses · 08/05/2011 20:51

Oh gosh - happy mother's day wss and trudy! The time differences have completely foxed me.

Are you going to try putting in another offer or selling yours mlic?

yy, we'd have to sell ours and that's part of our hesitation - i'm still in love with this place and don't know if i'd feel even worse about someone else living here than next door, iyswim?! keep hoping i'm gonna get lucky on the premium bonds before someone buys next door.

brill news on the pasta memph!! hopefully this is the start of him chomping thru anything

trudy don;t feel guilty or put more pressure on yourself re the dummy. they're still all so small really. whilst you're pg you should be making things easier where you can. i'm sure you must have said before but did you think she might have an intolerance to something which is causing her all this upset? i know i sound like i'm obsessed with food intolerances, it's just i know so many babies with them (most do outgrow them tho thankfully)

woodlands does the rug doc get wine stains out?

tsc you ok? been v quiet

CakeandRoses · 08/05/2011 20:53

Evening all

My r has a bruised eye, she fell on her toy. It looks really sore. She had baby potatoes and chicken that I didn't mash so that's her way of eating now.

cakes and mlic hope the boys aren't in for anything

Trudyla and wss happy mothers day sounds like you had a good day.

Good on L with the pasta he's Realising what his teeth are for.

memphis83 · 08/05/2011 21:24

stac ive been sitting at the table for my lunch with L the past few days (dont normally do lunch) and I think as i have to eat so slow and my chewing is OTT at the moment due to stitches he chews thin air copying me his lips smack together its very sweet but didnt actually think he would chew actual food!!!
cakes I can answer your rug doc question it gets stains out not sure on wine but you put solution in the machine and on the stains you dab it on neat half hour before you zap it, you can also get extra bottle od stain stuff aimed at certain stains like pet stains etc but as i dont do red wine never looked for that, we are getting one in a few weeks!
2 of my stitches have come out, the are sort of dangling in my gums so catching them on everything, I knew I shouldnt have eaten that crunchie!!!!

Woodlands · 08/05/2011 21:44

Not sure cake - we don't have carpet in our living room so no red wine stains! It's the third time we've hired one in the four years our (light) carpet has been down - the first time the results were amazing, the second time not so great and this time the carpet does look better but still stained and 'used'. It was a silly colour carpet to get with two cats in the house.

yes, TSC, where are you???

sounds horrid re the stitches memphis! but great news about the lumpy food. J really can't handle adult size pasta yet.

i wish i could be so accepting mlic. i keep coming up with half-jokey hare-brained schemes to enable us to get the house Grin

so the rug doc... what does it actually cost and where do you get it? website wasn't that clear.

we don't have that many carpets but those we do have could def do with a clean

OP posts:
Woodlands · 08/05/2011 22:26

It costs about £20 to hire for 24 hours, plus a rip-off £10 for the bottle of detergent, plus whatever extra if you want the stain removing stuff or whatever. We always do it in conjunction with our neighbours so we pay half each. You can hire them from B&Q or Homebase - I think you need to show a couple of forms of ID.

Spirael · 09/05/2011 09:42

Morning all. :) We've hired the rug doctor before, I think it's available at most big supermarkets as well as the DIY places. It did a reasonable job, but our carpets still really need replacing. Especially the lounge! While childproofing we moved the furniture, and realised the carpet is actually green...not grey.

A delicious sounding menu there, MLIC. You've inspired me towards quiche at some point this week! Though probably bought, as I won't have time to make from scratch. Over the weekend though my homemade vegetarian tomato bolognaise went down well. M adored it!

She's been on adult pasta for a bit now, as she started refusing the small pasta I got for her and nicking the large pasta off my plate until we ended up swapping. For anyone thinking of moving to regular pasta, M finds the twisty kind the easiest to handle of all the ones she's had.

I seem to have produced a very strange child, incidentally. I mean, I knew she was always going to be a bit odd, coming from DH and my genetics. But she finds having water spashed in her face hysterical! She loves taking showers and facing into the water, then yesterday she was shaking her sippy cup up and down so droplets splashed in her face, squealing with laughter each time!

She also loves turning around and around in her doorway bouncer until she winds up the straps. Then she lifts her feet so she spins round and round, picking up speed as she does. Hmm

Should I worry? Wink

DesperateHousewife21 · 09/05/2011 10:46

So stressed...want a cig so badly.

Im an awful mum, D must hate me. He wasnt sleeping this morning for his nap I literally lobbed him into his cot and just left him while I cried calmed down.

DP is staying overnight in Norfolk tonight, Im going to stay at my mums. I always have a low point on Mon morning.

He's better now, hes had a nap and Im going down the town, we have about £50 to last til Sat aswell. Life is so hard sometimes!

Stressful things these babies sometimes. I think Im on a lower low today because DP is away. Although saying that I get a double bed to share with just D tonight so more room yay!

Chulita · 09/05/2011 12:42

dh it's always harder when you know you're on your own isn't it!

Both dc in bed but S is whining, not sleeping and L is trashing her room again
S had a really accident prone day yesterday, he slipped and bashed his chin on a table and because he's got no top teeth he bit through his top gum and it bled for ages. Then he was swinging on the doorgate on the sliding doors and somehow opened the door at the same time and face-planted onto the concrete paving slabs still clinging onto the gate, finally he climbed three stairs while I was on the loo, turned to grin at me and fell off...usually he follows me into the loo which is why I hadn't shut the stairgate.

mlic how's E today?

cake we're having a few issues with the house-buying, there's still a boundary query, turns out the roof needs re-doing, there's no damp-proof coursing and we might need to shore up the extension. Once all the surveys are in we'll see how much to knock off our offer.

spirael M sounds a right character!

CakeandRoses · 09/05/2011 12:58

hope your days improve mlic and dh. sounds very challenging there Sad "this too will pass" x100

chul poor little S, he does sound like he's becoming a Mr Bump at the mo. that was actually my nickname as a child (yep, with the 'mr' Hmm) as i am so accident-prone as i rush everywhere. F has taken after me but I try to do my best to safe-guard him from as many nasty accidents as i had when small.

how old is the house? odd re damp course

spirael M sounds like a right cutie Smile

Right, looks like i'm the only one who didn't know about the rug doc. thanks for the info everyone. Do i need to prebook one or just go to a stockist?

Oh and playroom finished bar decoration (i've done it back to front as i can't decide on paint/stickers), I've uploaded some pics to my photo album (link on fb group page) if you want to have a nose.

It's over 100 years old, not sure how old but pre-1900.
I was just sitting in S's room wondering how I'd decorate it when L moves in.

Trudyla · 09/05/2011 13:57

Hi all,

just a quick hello cos M is just waking up. Will post more later.

Hope your days will get easier DH and MLIC

mlic L has really 'off' days when she spends most of the day on her 'mat' by the front door. She's not aggressive to me but really picks on S at times and just flatly ignores me or sulks/screams in my face. It is just their age and it will pass. How do you react when he hits out?

tsc good night then? Frankie's got a bit better at nights then, that's excellent stuff. Fwiw I used to dream feed but found as often as not S would wake up at his usual time as well so I just leave him to wake up when he's ready. He currently alternates between 10 ish and 4am ish.

One sleeve left and S's jumper will be finished, just trying to bash it out by the weekend.
Our menu this week is:

Pork stir-fry & noodles
Couscous salad
Haddock, rice & peas
Pasta & spicy tomato sauce with sausages
Shepherd's pie/lasagne (depending on whether my parents are here or not)
DH's day to cook

memphis83 · 09/05/2011 16:18

oh my....your meals all make us seem fat!!! when i do a shepherds pie, chilli, spaghetti etc i do a serving for 4 for the 2 of us then have bread, garlic baguette or something that suits, spoke to dh about it but he said if he ate less he would be starving, his pack up now costs £20 a week and thats with me cutting back his portions!!!
tsc im 100% sure it was the rasberry in the first cocktail Grin
cakes will look at photos after ive posted on here!!
dh ive now come to the conclusion its ok to put him somewhere safe and go and hide, this morning dh was a noisy shitbag at 4.15am so that woke L up, he has been up since then with a 15 min nap, at 5 I put him in his cot and he cried for 2 more hours, i feel terrible for doing it but 4.30 is not a reasonable time to get up!
we are short on cash too this week, I got a parking fine outside my house on a Sunday last week, dh thinks im paying it, i wont be, more likely that i send the fine back after ive cleaned L's bum with it!!! dh is in Newcastle today and then is away from Wednesday onwards til weekend, my grandad gave me £60 for L and I to treat ourselves! its going in L's moneybox!

DesperateHousewife21 · 09/05/2011 19:10

memphis its a last resort but it does save my sanity! Did you get any sleep through that crying?

WhatSheSaid · 09/05/2011 19:50

mlic all 2-3 year olds have their tantrummy/hitting moments at times, I found A worse at 3 than 2 tbh, she is fine 95% of the time but when she has a tantrum, blimey, do we know about it. The other morning it was because her slippers weren't bunny slippers ffs(we saw some in the shop but she chose the other ones...). Totally normal at this age, they all do it.

Not much to report from here, I'm up with G at 6.45am, A is still asleep which is great. Dh last night was talking about a friend who had invited him to go to a Rugby World Cup match in another NZ city but it involves being away for abotu 3 nights (flights sold out etc). I was encouraging him to go but he said no, he had missed us all when he was iin Fiji and didn't want to be away again for that long!

We have another bank holiday weekend here in early June (for the Queens birthday - always seems weird we get a holiday for that here but not in the uK) so we are going away again with the couple we went away with for Easter - jsut booked it yesterday. got to go A awake

viksam · 09/05/2011 19:50

Hi all,
Im lurking and reading all chat with interest. Not posting anything much as i havent really got too much to say right now. Just chillin and trying to sort my head out. Hope the naughty babies are good tonight!
xx

memphis83 · 09/05/2011 20:21

dh with his and my door shut and my tv on to drone it out i got back to sleep ish but still aware of him, ironic thing is when it goes quiet i jump out of bed thinking something is wrong when he drops off...which he didnt do this morning!!!
