god, i love you funny women! I always get a least a snort when i catch up on a few posts Grin

hey vik good to 'see' you. was thinking about you this morning wondering where/how you are

tsc arghh - i know that shush/pat back. bloody painful. can you lower his cot bars whilst you do it? i used to devise some ridiculous positions/methods to do it from to alleviate my back strain but tbh nothing really helped other than F not fucking waking up Angry

i adored kryton factor

mlic do you realise how bloody long it takes me to write the flipping surveys, let alone doing it twice? Grin

trudy did you actually mean toddlers ref angelcare? i think chul glossed straight over that and talked about her baby instead Grin

i stopped using the angelcare with F at about a year i reckon. tbh, i'll probably use it with A a bit longer as it's only been quite recently that i've managed to stop waking F up by my ridiculous 'breathing checks' (ie almost shaking him awake when i panic) so i may as well have just kept using the monitor longer and not had the stress.

F was in a sleeping bag quite late (natch), 18m+ at least but that's partly so he couldn't scratch his eczema and partly as he's a chilly bones like i am and i didn't want him kicking covers over and getting cold. mlic gave me a good tip early on on this thread - if you buy a single size quilt cover and use it on a cotbed size duvet then you can tuck the excess cover round the edges to keep it in place. Works a treat. amazing how these things are such a big deal at the time and now i can hardly remember when things happened.

had a thai curry for dinner (paste from a jar tho) - could eat that all the time.

You've all been chatting loads today will have a read through soon, have the funeral tomorrow. Hope your all well

DesperateHousewife21 · 06/05/2011 07:46

wss you're right, I have no idea what the krypton factor is or who Gordon Burns is.
Sorry tsc Grin

Chulita · 06/05/2011 08:27

Grin you're right cake but I thought since I'd stopped with S already it would imply that I stopped early-ish with L too. But yea, I stopped around 10 months with my pfb :)

stac sorry it's going to be a sad day for you today, hope you're ok.

Bro and Sil's little boy is having a few problems, he ingested meconium and although he was only born yesterday morning, he was badly jaundiced by lunchtime and was in SCBU. The doctors were a bit surprised at how quickly he got jaundice so we're all hoping he'll get over it quickly. Sil can't leave the hospital yet anyway but it's a bit hard for them not to have him in with them. (I'd have paid good money for someone to take S away the first few days so I could sleep but I knew he was healthy so it's totally different!)

Right, I'm having a bit of a dilemma. Our irritating neighbours moved out the day before yesterday. While I was watering my blueberries I noticed they'd left a large (think £85 type) bonsai tree in the garden. I'm not a bonsai fan but someone's spent years getting it to that size and I thought it might peg it just left out there so I trotted round and picked it up. I was going to put a note through the door to say I had it cos I was worried it would die but now I'm wondering if I should've just left it there. I don't want them to be pissed off that I picked it up but I didn't want to see it die, on the other hand they might have put it there for some fresh air... I can't put it back til nightfall though cos we've got 4ft fences so everyone would see me doing it. Not sure what to do...

Trudyla · 06/05/2011 08:43

Gooooood morning, good morning, good morning, good morning (said in Stephen Fry's cheerful QI greeting voice).

How worrying about your brother's little baby, chulita. I hope he recovers soon, poor mite.

As for the tree. Where the neighbours really horrible? I think if they were I would sneak the tree back at night time (i.e. have DP do it) just to avoid them being awkward. If they are normal and reasonable then I would think they'd appreciate what you've done and a note through the door is sufficient.

stac Thinking of you and hope the day won't be too hard for you and your friend.

Thanks for your sleeping bag responses. Should have checked some more, shouldn't I. I just saw that the ones we have for her from Marks and Spencer stop at 1 year (don't go checking if that's true, in case I'm wrong there too) and just assumed. Good to know I can get them for longer.

How can S. have moved off the AngelCare chulita? M. moves around her whole big cot and is frequently on the other side yet the Angelcare still works.

cake I can see me doing the breathing check on M, too, (I do it with DP) so I'm planning on keeping the monitor for as long as possible. I don't know much about children, but I'm sure a teenager wouldn't mind sleeping in a cot and not being able to get out, so mummy knows they are still breathing, right?

What has everyone got planned for today? M got up early so is gonna be extra grouchy. Meeting friends for coffee and playground in the afternoon.

Chulita · 06/05/2011 08:53

They were very nice the few times we met but they'd have parties til ridiculous hours during the week. I think I just feel a bit silly 'rescuing' a tree that they probably put outside for a reason, I really don't want to be left with it either cos Bonsai is not my thing. Hey ho, with all this hot weather around I'd have been annoyed to watch it die. I think note through the door and hope they're not in the middle of a break-up and the tree was some symbol of their eternal love that was cast outside to die a lingering death in the baking sun.

I don't know how he moved off, I think it was more a thing that the mattress is a really solid, thick, unbending piece of concrete foam so if he wasn't directly on it it couldn't pick up the vibrations iyswim.

Chulita · 06/05/2011 08:55

Anyone with toddlers tired of company in the loo? Everytime I say to L I'm off to the loo it's 'L come too' then of course S crawls in too so there are 3 of us crammed into the smallest room in the house. We just set up our shiny new stairgate on the living room door and I had both of them peering at me through the mesh wailing which I don't think was much better.

Trudyla · 06/05/2011 08:58

Baby's age (closest to 9m, 9.5m or 10m):
9 months

Crawling?
No, but she's trying ever so hard rocking backwards and forwards and doing little jumps on her knees. She also gets around commando crawling (and I don't mean without underwear) and moving backwards. I love it how she looks back and navigates like she is parking a car.

Pulling up on furniture to stand?
No, again, trying, but she doesn't have the strength for the final push.

Coasting?
No

Standing unaided?
No

Walking?
No

Talking?
No

Says Dada and Mama to the right parent?
No

Waving?
Yes, but only when she goes away with daddy and waves at me. Or when she wants to get rid of visitors.

Clapping?
Yes. She claps at everything the cat does and the things other children do on the playground. She is a very generous soul and gives applause when it's due.

Pointing?
No

Understands 'no'?
In that she gets really angry when I utter it and take the dangerous thing she has out of her hands.

Kisses?
Open mouthed, dribbly, soppy ones. I love them.

Page-turning?
Yes. Usually to indicate that she is bored of me reading it and she wants to move on.

Using pincer grip?
Yes. Especially for cat biscuits.

BLW/Purees/Combo?
Mostly puree, but I do give her bread, rice crackers and fruit to munch on. And I do try to make my purees more lumpy which she doesn't seem to mind.

No of milk feeds?
1 in the morning. The advice on that is different over here. One more milk feed is incorporated in one of her cereals and that is enough, as they say.

Special skills?
When we stand her up in the bath tub, she turns her head around with the coyest and funniest little grin. It absolutely makes my day.

number of teeth?
4, two at the bottom middle, and 2 at the top to the left and right of the middle ones, which are still missing.

using a pushalong walker
We don't have one. Should we get one?

Trudyla · 06/05/2011 09:01

Haha, at your loo company chulita. I love that they see it as a treat and felt left out behind the gate.

I have to take M with me cos she wails on her own, but she smiles so brightly when I pee that I don't mind it so much. (And no, I don't understand why she smiles so much, it's not that I'm doing anything special, as far as I know).

viksam · 06/05/2011 09:14

ok.............here it is................i cant remember the last time i had af, i think it was about 6 weeks ago. I have been fairly regular for a while now. This morning i had a mooch and came across an old pregnancy test with no instructions so i did it and now im looking at one strong pink line in each window............what does that mean???.............i think i know.........

malibustac · 06/05/2011 09:16

Thanks trudy and chu really not looking forward to it.

Chulita ds had to be made to stop coming to the loo with me as he was getting too old, now my dd likes to barge the door open when your in the loo so anyone walking past can see my fat ass. I've got to the stage its strange going t the loo alone haha

Trudy meant to ask how did the list making go for moving back?

WhatSheSaid · 06/05/2011 09:17

Shock Grin Vik

Trudyla · 06/05/2011 09:23

Yey, viksam. We're gonna be pregnant buddies Grin, now that chulita and MLIC have abandoned me.

Seriously though. How do you feel about it? I remember you saying you didn't want another.

Stac We've made a few steps forward and have narrowed it down to three different areas that we will check out when we're over in June. Once we have decided that the areas (or at least one of them) are OK, we will check out houses on the internet. Our top priority is def location and then all the rest will somehow work out.

Chulita · 06/05/2011 09:47

Grin viksam how on earth? I mean, I know how but...eh? what? and hooray! how are you feeling? check again in a day or so, if I were you.

trudyla I've not abandoned you, just don't get round to dtd very often at the mo with DH's crazy hours :)

kkfairybrains · 06/05/2011 09:56

Vik [shocked] how you feeling about it? Lovely news.

Kk is the waxing downstairs sore? It is common to get hairy lip during pregnancy.

Seems you have a good plan trudy for checking out were you want to live. Is sil still house hunting for you?

Chulita regarding the tree I would keep it but pit a note on the door.

viksam · 06/05/2011 10:22

i know..........i really dont know what to think, chu i will go get a better one today. I remember people on the ttc thread talking about chemical pregnancy but i cant remember what that is. I have been feeling very very cold the last few days and was nearly sick the other morning after having some banana that wasnt ripe enough but thats just cos it wasnt ripe enough...........wasnt it?
im just thinking 'holy crap' at the moment. I was adamant that D was enough and i really didnt want to go through it all over again. From day one of pregnancy i found it incredibly stressfull and D having colic for 14 weeks was terrible too along with the fact that i'll be 37 in june which i know isnt old but u know what im saying, i just thought, i have the baby i had longed for for 6 years now lets not tempt fate.
