I liked the CRESH acronym more than FESH so have used it. Welcome all ESH to your final stop on the journey. Rest your aching lady bits, try one of the many gin based cocktails, and try to molest the gorgeous waiting staff.

A pedant replies: the singular being scrotus?

CurlyCasper · 12/05/2011 14:36
Wink
CUNextTuesday · 12/05/2011 14:37

I'm going to investigate this. What do you think the plural is?

CUNextTuesday · 12/05/2011 14:38

Scrota!! Hah!

AlpinePony · 12/05/2011 14:45

fanny Actually I was making a reference to my prolapsed uterus looking like a joint of "crap ham". In fact, prolapsed uterus is probably a major constituent of crap ham. Cossie I'm not convinced Aldi/Lidl do "crap ham" - the germans are not so easily fobbed off with all that stabilisers/starch/cardboard. I much prefer a good Tesco lincolnshire sausage over those too meaty german ones.

At school Latin lessons always descended in to giggles with the old testis verb (I forget) - fast forward 25 years and we're doing scroti, scrota, scrotum. Plus ca change (I don't know the latin for that).

FannyPriceless · 12/05/2011 14:49

Scrota! So right! As in forum / fora.

CurlyCasper · 12/05/2011 15:00

Es scortum obscenus vilis

(I had to Google)

rollerbaby · 12/05/2011 16:41

Quick hello from south London parts.

Polly I cannot believe you have sleep issues and bumsex.

What is this processed ham talk? Bleurgh.

We are all ok. Work going well, monkey still sleeping and we had our heart consultNt appt today- yes 6 months later to say he is fine!!! Well thank god there wasn't actually anything wrong!!! We knew he wA fine. Just wanted to hear from a doctor finally. He does have a murmur but nothing to worry about.

On the subject of baby groups we are progressing to a toddler one as if next week just opposite our house nearly. Have been a bit crap making mummy friends due to work so hopefully will meet some more nice folk.

Also just found out that mr moo's ex is 6 mths up the duff. Not my favourite person so could make some inappropriate comments but I will refrain for now.

Okiecokie · 12/05/2011 20:48

I studied Latin at school, don't remember any of it. Apparently only the bright ones at school did Latin [.confused] I do remember studying the odd scrotum/scroti/scrota though.

Box not sure if it helps but I have discovered Peppa will often go back to sleep if I shove her onto her side and pop her rabbit in her hands (not of the rampant variety, she is too young for that). Possibly he has settled into a bad habbit and you may need to do a bit of sleeping training to resolve it. I have been finding it hard to practice what I preach to be honest as I am so tired at the moment. When Peppa wails in he night I often shove a boob in her gob as I don't want her to wake mini oke - that would be another whole world of pain if he wakes too. I know she doesn't need a feed it just makes my life easier.

Backinthebox · 12/05/2011 21:46

Thanks for all the sleep tips. I think I will have to dig out my 'No Cry Sleep Solution.' It's in a box somewhere while we have the extra bedrooms built - probably not the best place for it to be.

Today's scary thing was: Calling work to tell them I want to come back. Lovely, lovely manager gave me some tips to make sure I could go back and take all the exams and be officially full time for a while, while making sure I didn't actually come into work more than 75%. I don't know if you can appreciate how hard it is to get back into it. I normally write my own roster - I am senior enough that I can pick and choose where and when I go anywhere. I generally work for about 8-9 days a month and pick nice places with decent report times, good money, and weekends off. But when I go back for the first 4 months I am at the mercy of the company and will have to be full time till I can prove I can remember which end is the front! I put my foot down and told them I would not be available to work on LG's first birthday. So there we go - I am off back to the real world in a couple of months. Maybe my brain will start working again!

Cosmosis · 13/05/2011 08:42

to be fair, I can kind of understand why they want to be sure you can still do it!!!

Backinthebox · 13/05/2011 08:48

I have a fair old interest myself in not plummeting to the ground in a fireball!

Medee · 13/05/2011 12:35

afternoon all, I have been lurking on my phone, but it's hard to post on Mumsnet from it, so have been quiet while my mum has been visiting. Back to the PC today.

I've been Kegel-ing, Alps, mainly because I leak a little if I get really desparate for the loo. I keep forgetting to do them though.

Hurrah for a return to work, Box, I'm sure it will be ace.

EA had her neurology appointment on Monday - the doctor is really pleased with her progress, doing various alertness and vision tests and commenting that she is doing well for an average 6 week old, let alone one who has been through what she has. Her medicine dose has increased slightly to reflect her weight increases, but not all the way as the current dose seems to be controlling the fits well (last one was a tiny 5-10s one on Monday morning.) Back to neurology in a month, in the meantime we have a follow-up at the NNU in a couple of weeks where the results of all the metabolic tests done on her first admission will hopefully be back.

My mum visited from Tuesday to yesterday, was great to have her here. I restocked the freezer, she did my ironing and very useful having an extra pair of hands around the place. MrM and I even went for a belated anniversary cocktail on Wednesday evening.

Medee · 13/05/2011 12:38

oh, and we got some infant Gaviscon for her reflux. Some confusion over when to give it - just had a call from the HV to say the doctor definitely says pre-feed though everyone else, incl another doctor and the pharmacist say post-feed. Probably easier to give her it pre-feed to be honest, she's not interested in taking it when she's full.

AlpinePony · 13/05/2011 12:42

I wish there were a "like" for your post medee.

Muser · 13/05/2011 12:49

Wonderful news Medee. She certainly looks very alert in the photos I've seen.

CurlyCasper · 13/05/2011 12:56

Great news medee. Glad EA is doing so well - as muse says, she looks great!

On the Gaviscon front, it's supposed to go in afterwards, to weigh the feed down. But you are right, it's very hard to convince a full baby to drink more. Unless you tried syringing it in? Beforehand should work though, because it will all get mixed up in her tummy. (you mix it in when formula feeding).

Medee · 13/05/2011 13:01

Thanks CC, afterwards made more sense to me too. We've tried a spoon, and we've tried a bottle (the latter being a bit easier but she won't take it from me so easily). I do have syringes for her anti-convulsants but they are tiny, so might pop into the pharmacy and get a bigger one.

Cosmosis · 13/05/2011 13:49

Oh great news, well done EA!!!!

The pharmacy should give you a syringe, they've given them to me for the boys ABs before.

FannyPriceless · 13/05/2011 16:13

medee Great to hear your news!Smile And your cocktail date sounds fab.

We viewed four houses today. Unfortunately they are now a bit muddled up in my head.Confused

Okiecokie · 13/05/2011 19:53

Great to hear form you Meds and glad she is doing well. You still seem remarkably calm about the whole thing Smile.

FP only 4 houses and you are in a muddle? 2 weeks ago we spent a Saturday viewing 11 houses. Precision planned at 30 minute intevals with time factored in to boob feed Peppa in the car and and an hour between 2 viewings at lunchtime for mini oke to have a nap en route in the car. Thankfully all were dire except one so it didn't matter them getting muddled in my head. One was next to a gaveyard (I had to ask if the neighbours were dead quiet?) and most were not that "forever" house we seem to be searching for. Mini Oke handled it all pretty well until mid afternoon when he started rearranging peoples ornaments, trying to sit of peoples sofas to watch TV and jumping on beds.

For those with toddlers any top tips for toilet training - I am going to embrace it over the weekend. We do have a viewing on our house tomorrow - let's hope I am not head to toe in shit.

SilverSky · 13/05/2011 20:30

okie perhaps one of those plastic ponchos for theme parks would be useful this weekend?

Have had a right bloody week - fecking horses AGAIN!!! Think things sorted for now tho fear sharer has done the off. Turns out that her riding etiquette leaves a lot to be desired. I'll try and find someone else. Typical. Timing is shit as we have holibobs soon and it's gonna be a bugger finding someone to take over whilst I'm away!

Weaning is going ok. Sort of. Purees are fine, toast and Weetabix also fine. Finger foods bit of a fail. I have to present three days in a row before it even gets near his gob and when it does taste it eg not even in his mouth but be rubs the item on his gums he coughs and gags in disgust. Saying that, even each purée that goes in his mouth is received with suspicion and the same gag/cough combo. Deffo sweet things are preferred and he will eat savoury but it such a trauma and takes frigging forever!!!!!!

Sorry for whinging and moaning.

As you were.

Okiecokie · 13/05/2011 20:45

Weaning going the opposite way here Silv. Gob firmly shut when I go anywhere near her mouth with a spoon. Rams in carrot and cucumber sticks instead (frequently gags). Marginally fucked off as have a freezer full of various veg purees but kind of glad as would rather chuck a few bits of food in her general direction TBH. Can't get the milk/food balance quiet right. Have been breast feeding before offering food and I think she is filling up on milk (she feeds really quickly so can be full in munutes) so by the time I offer grub she is full and not interested. Maybe I need to space milk and food further apart. She clearly is not digesting much as poos are still same milky poos and not foody poos.

Backinthebox · 13/05/2011 21:01

Okes we live next to a graveyard. Tis very Blair Witch Project. I love it! Come to think of it, it's the second one I've lived next door to.

SilverSky · 13/05/2011 21:11

I'm giving a bf an hour or so before food and it seems to be working tho I spend all my time (least it feels that way) either bfing or shoving food in his gob.

MB has revived his trick of clamping down on nip and puuuuuulllllllllllll. Fucking hurts. Not sure if it's wind or wot but it hurts so bad and after I manage to retrieve my poorly nip he's gurning back at me and it's hard to stay cross with such a gorgeous face smiling back at me.

I tried Strawberry again yesterday in one Of those Nuby mesh things. He spent more time chewing the handle!!

MBs poo is deffo grown up.
