Hiya Ladies,

Thought you might want to read this. Found some posts hilarious.

Diege · 24/11/2005 20:55

Golden, I have reached the conclusion that it's virtually impossible to keep a newborn awake - thghuis is where the Gina F goes wrong I think for very new babies as it relies on baby being kept awake after a feed. My midwife used to suggest changing nappy, even a top and tail, and heel flicking (awww!!), but I've given up now and make the most of very sleepy times to rest myself. Strangely, I've noticed that being awake more in day (at this stage) doesn't really translate into more sleep at night!!
Londoner - you are right about age; I'm only actually 35, but would wait another 3 years or so, and assume it would take longer to get pregnant etc etc...excuses excuses. We shall see!
Gearing up for my 10pm feed - must take care with flask!
night night all!
Diege.

Diege · 24/11/2005 21:00

Hi ChaCha! loved the link LOL at changing bag debate (and ref to 'bugaf**kingboo!!!')Enough Gina bashuing though! I felt quite protective!!Glad I'm with you lot as they are scary!!
Don't like to ask, but....any news yet???!!

rodeo1 · 25/11/2005 12:11

Haha, I've just read it too! I've had quite a few friends like that (not owning up to being like that myself!), although I do tell dp off for not holding her to him when he gives her her night time bottle....and I tell him to turn the telly right down while he's doing it.....and look disapprovingly at him if he's watching something violent when the baby's still awake.....is that mad?

Londoner, my Irish gran's a Kathleen My mum was very nearly called Caitlin (which in Ireland is pronounced 'Cosh-leen'apparently)

LOL at Jenjam wanting to clarify her lochia doesn't smell that bad

I went to a perfume sale at theairport last night to pick up a few Xmas bargains with my mum and sis! It was soooo cold! On the way in we started running to get out of the cold and I tripped on my mum's leg! And I went flying!! Fell on to a grassy verge front first so didn't hurt myself but got 2 wet muddy knees - how classy....

Right someone's squarking

Who's got snow BTW? We haven't

OP posts:
Diege · 25/11/2005 12:54

LOL Rodeo re: DH . Mine is the same regarding holding her away from home, though she has tried to 'latch on' to his nipple, like a little fruit bat!!
No snow here yet, just a grouchy 4 year old off school with a urine infection!
Diege.

Diege · 25/11/2005 12:55

That should read 'him', not home (and DP - apologies). YOu can tell I've had a night of it!

novadandypowder · 25/11/2005 16:47

no snow here, but the slightest hint of sleet this afternoon.

thought i'd given birth to the spawn of satan last night, Nat wouldn't settle after her 12.30 feed - it took until 3 to get her down and even then I was naughty and brought her into bed with me, but by that time i was desparate for some sleep. Then she went and slept all the way through gymboree (rolls eyes).

Got her weighed today - 9lb 9oz! The little guzzler..

Golden - a week on tuesday is great for me. Look forward to catching up with you and Jenjam... and Londoner??

Jenjam, it's so obvious from your posts that you are totally besotted with your little boy, it's really lovely.

Diege · 25/11/2005 17:17

Hi Nova! Sympathies with last night. I also had a similar experinece, with Libby not settling after the 2.30, finally falling asleep at 4.15. In the end I just gave up and let her cry it out, but not sure what it's all about as she settles OK in the day. Let's hope for a better one tonight!

JenJam · 25/11/2005 18:58

good so a week on tues (6th Dec) it is! look forward to seeing you all and seeing all the babies in the flesh!!! (i'm now baby crazy)

chacha hilarious link....made me laugh OUT LOUD to hear madmarchhare say that she would not let people pull their christmas crackers at christmas...!!

so who is doing gina? nova and diege - anyone else? we've had so much conflicing advice and starting to feel we should do something towards keeping a routine if only to prevent a slide into baby demand horror.

midwives at hospital and community midwives all said 'feed on demand' this meant feeding whenever little Finn opened his goldfish mouth and aimed it blindly towards my armpit. I.E. almost everytime i held him.

so do we wake em up and make them adhere to a schedule or do we 'feed' when they want it???

confusing...............

JenJam · 25/11/2005 19:00

also wanted to say - it's too cold to take babies outside doncha think?

nova is gymboree fun? what does natalie do there when she's not asleep? am thinking of trialling the islington one...got 3 free visits through the door

goldenoldie · 25/11/2005 20:15

JenJam - too cold, nah - I took twins to the market, again today, and was set upon by three very nice old ladies who accused me of not having babies wrapped up enough! The took charge of the buggy, put the hoods up, put the rain cover down and secured it, and gave me a telling off for being out with them - they were so sweet and caring, it just made me smile..............

I'm doing routine, not sure who's routine tho - feeding every 3/4 hours, trying to keep them awake for a bit after each feed, which I am failing miserably at, they just want to sleep and sleep and sleep...................

Looking forward to our coffee/lunch on 6 Dec.

novadandypowder · 25/11/2005 22:35

Def. not too cold - just a very good excuse to buy cute winter weather gear for the little ones . Got some lovely bits in Gap today, their all in one furry suit unzips nearly all the way down so it's easier to undress/dress a sleeping baby.

Jenjam - I love gymboree, but I think Nat can take it or leave it at the mo . It's 45 mins during which we sing, do a bit of gentle exercise, have sensory play, play on the equipment, and then do more singing. It's a great way for me to meet other mums around here and when she's a bit older I'm sure Nat will enjoy it. Would recommend going for a trial, we went when she was 3 1/2 wks old.

I'm not doing Gina, I'm doing Baby Whisperer (Tracy Hogg). Not sure what's happened today though as she was really hard to settle tonight, and she usually goes straight off. Glad DH is doing the night shift.

Sharons post from other thread

By SharonTW on Saturday, 26 November, 2005 3:47:53 AM

hi ladies quickets ever message sorry hope you're all ok can't see me ever catching up with th e thread .
Had a little boy on Tuesday well 8lb 14oz !!
Had a long labour as he was back to back and wouldn't move after 36 hours and threat of c section he popped out after just 30 minutes of pushing and was born at 15:30
some mucle tears and a swelling I can't say name of thay threatened to take me back to theatre to drain and re-stitch but then didn't thank God
still was awake for 45 hours and didn't eat for most of at as theatre beckoned, feeling very tired and weak and little Sam feeds every 2 hours so I'm a bit of a wreck at the mo.
Saying that he is perfect and gorgeous and feeds and sleeps thankfully.
All will feel a hundred times better when I can do a little more for myself
Will post a piccie as soon as I can
Love to you all with babes in arms and those still waiting
was no worse than I thought it would be only longer saying that had epidural in the end and that was a godsend !
Love Sharon and Sam (22-11-05 15:30 8lb 14oz)
will someone add us to stats please x x

Diege · 26/11/2005 09:36

Morning all . Recovering from 3 year old's hour long tantrum last night (1 -2am). Had been using star chart to keep her in bed, and it had been working (on and off) for the last week. Now , however, she has decided to scream for me to come into her instead . Didn't give in, though not sure this made things any better. Also a bit pi**ed off with DH, as he has gone up now for a nap, when he has had a virtually undisturbed night (he sleeps through it all!!) while I've been up with each dd and done all the feeds . But of course I've just gone into a sulk (for the fact that he thinks it's OK for him to nap!! - am I being unreasonable with my sleep envy??).
Grumpy Diege .

Busyalexsmummy · 26/11/2005 10:51

Just wanted to let you know that Ive set up a yahoo group for us, I know someone on mumsnet posted about a group or something similar a while back, but I wasnt keen on that idea as photos etc of my children are precious to me and I dont want them getting into the wrong hands or anything so this way this group can be used by all of us that have participated on this thread and that"know" each other to a degree.
I can only accept by invite as I made it a restricted group (ie only invited members can join, not just anybody) so anyone whos intrested in joining just CAT me and we can start building the group and getting pics up etc!

Londoner · 26/11/2005 11:30

Sorry, got called away b4 I could post! GOOD MORNING!!!!!!

Diege...good grief, what a knackering night for you....hard stare at your DH from me and Elizabeth....if that was me, he he, I'd sneak out for a few hours while he kips and do something really nice like walk in park and lunch in a cafe with kids....long enough 4 u to manage and enjoy...and long enough 2 worry husband and make him feel left out,he he he....I hate to be made to feel put upon too, it's not on is it! Then come back and be all capable and independent, that should make him sit up! Anyway, that's what I'd do....hope you're okay? Remember....strong woman, you are great....
x

Londoner · 26/11/2005 11:32

Busy, great idea, I feel the same way, thanks 4 doing that.....BTW what's 'CAT'-ting someone?

Londoner · 26/11/2005 11:38

Jen, nova, golden..would love to meet up, but not sure if it's manageable with hour+ long journey each way coupled with banging elbows on hard cafe table while BF baby next 2 hot cocoa.....had't really thought it through had I! Would also need somewhere to change nappy..... maybe I could pop in and say hi for 20 mins b4 going and doing feed & change at dh work...hmmmm

rodeo1 · 26/11/2005 12:18

Diege - Poor you! I get sleep envy too! Fed Jess 3 times during the night last night (although not sure of times as our alarm clocks batteries have been taken out and lost by ds) and she woudn't go back off after the 3rd time, took her downstairs for an hour (found out it was only half 4) then got dp up to look after her after that, he'd been sleeping blissfully since 11 - how do they sleep throuh it?!

No snow here still, those poor people in Cornwall!

Nova, hope you have a great time today - do report back! I always imagine ThomCat to look like you! I'd also love to know what cod and flum looks like for some reason!

Afternoon Girls & Babies,

Just a quick note to say that Amelia Megan finally arrived yesterday at 12:18pm weighing 8lb 12oz after only 5hrs and 17 mins of labour.

It was extremely quick but absolutely wonderful, I'll fill you all in on my birth story later but a bacon sandwich is calling to me!

This post from Karma.......
CONGRATULATIONS Karma! What wonderful news, and great birth story! Well done you!

Hi all!

Sorry its taken me so long to post. We only came home last night & today was very busy today so this is the first time I've got the pc to myself.

Weeeellll......!! Ella Grace was born on 23/11/05 at 23:02, weighing 7ilb 9oz. It was normal delivery with no stitches, I'm glad to say! After my waters went, they were stained with meconium from the outset so I knew my water birth with a physiological third stage were definately not going to happen but I didn't mind one bit. It became the most intervention-filled labour you could imagine, ha ha!

Contractions fizzled out, had prostin then syntocinon infusion was started at 5pm. Had a TENS fitted & the contractions didn't become aggressive & regular until 9pm whereupon I burst into tears & felt a bit silly! Had some meptid which I thought was crap (& I told them!) But they admitted it wasn't terribly good against the force of the synto. Together with gas & air I managed to hang on until 22:40 when I was fully. Second stage was 20 mins & she shot out in one almighty push! Cord had to be clamped straight away as it was very short so DP did the honours. Absolutely delighted at intact perineum!! I cannot tell you what a difference it makes. Put her to the breast which she liked & still does!

She had her sugar levels checked the next day & we got through ot with regular good BFs & top ups with ebm, so I was very happy. Unfortunately, as I have antibodies she developed jaundice & was treated with light therapy which is why we were in an extra day. Went back today to have her blod checked & her bilirubin levels are down so she doesn't need anymore phototherapy.

She is feeding like a dream & the milkman arrived today so she is on cloud 9! Needless to say, she is THE most beautiful baby on the planet, sorry to the other mums!! I cannot take my eyes off her or stop kissing her. This is the start of a wonderful love affair. .

Enough about me, hope all well with you all. Congrats to Sharon. Good luck after your sweep, KristinaM. Not long now Chacha.

Bye for now.
