really enjoyed my first day in the new job! i havent used my brain so much in ages!

Evitas- how was your day x

evitas · 07/11/2011 19:44

Viva went very well, it was a nice 'chat' with the examiners.
Champagne anyone? :)

MissPenteuth · 07/11/2011 19:58

Congratulations Dr. evitas Grin

PacificDogwood · 07/11/2011 20:38

Oh, great, congratulations, Drevitas (I think you should change your NN Wink), glad to hear it went well.

And thanks for champagnes, chinchin Smile.

PacificDogwood · 07/11/2011 20:39

Oh, sorry: congrats too to successful first day in New Job, Sarah.

We had first half-day with NannyMcPhee (not really - she's lovely) today. It was a dryrun with me present, tomorrow is the first 'proper' day - wish her luck!

scooby26 · 07/11/2011 22:43

Congrats EVITAS, SARAH AND PACIFIC for good days.

Anyone got a spare job, lottery win and an employment solicitor tucked up their sleeve?

Anyone wanna be bored by the current state of work affairs? Non? Tough! ;-)

So having had my second reduced hrs application bounced as I'm sooo indispensable (yeah honest!) work have now advertised for promotions. Rule Is I speak with big boss and get their support.....

So done that..... Despite coming top in country in exam.. I'm not ready. As I haven't handled my recent anker boss problems without bothering them and as I havent got my new role 'sussed' yet. Aaaaaaaaargh! So- had I not had my first reduced hrs application bounced I wouldnt be there, so I wouldn't have a new role to suss and I wouldn't have anker boss ( not this current bully boy anyway!)

In Addition I lost 900 pay to move role and thousands £'s in temp promotion roles that are simply not available in the job I do now. So over the next 5 years or so I may be 30k worse off... Hmmm wot u reckon?

BlueyDragon · 08/11/2011 10:02

Congratulations Dr evitas! well deserved champagne to you.

Good news for Sarah and Pacific too.

Rubbish for you though, Scooby. I don't have anything to say to help apart from sympathy and Wine

slimmingsarahandco · 08/11/2011 19:20

well done DR Evitas! deffo need a name change! so so happy for u

Oh scooby! thats rubbish!

Flisspaps · 08/11/2011 23:13

Scooby What an utter load of shite for you :( Can you apply for the promotion without the support of the boss anyway, and in the covering letter point out in capitals-- that you were top in the country for the exam? Otherwise, if you have to have BB's support, surely anyone that he/she takes a dislike to is always going to be passed over for promotion, forever? That seems like a ridiculous rule, although given everything you've encountered I would imagine it would be par for the course there.

Sarah Glad first day was good :) Long may it continue

Evitas Hurrah Wine

scooby26 · 10/11/2011 19:01

Greeting all

Finished work now for 9 days TF! Off to a cottage for peace and chill. My DH has thrown his hat in promotion ring but I haven't- FLISS - simply not allowed without the big boss nod. There is no written feedback at any stage only verbal hence how they get away with saying it's cos I've put a grievance which thus shows my inabilities. (their own policy tells you to)

Heyho. think I'm better off without it.

Hope your all enjoying the challenging phase. Still only 'mam' and 'there' said every day. He is a physical not verbal chap!
Hope all those with growing babies are managing- brave souls!

PacificDogwood · 10/11/2011 22:01

scooby, sounds really unreasonable to me, but really, really not my sphere of expertise Grin, but there seem to be a number of employment lawyers cluttering up MN - is it worth your while to start a thread about it??

Or have you Moved On? Good on you if you have. Enjoy your time off.

I wish they had a chocolate emoticon, I could use lots of them as I am still being 'good' in RL. And have lost some weight

slimmingsarahandco · 14/11/2011 20:47

selfsih post alert-

I LOVE MY NEW JOB! really enjoying learning all i can about blood and urine ! hahahah what an odd sentence!

Hope everyone is ok x gone quiet again in here x

squiggleywiggler · 15/11/2011 13:10

Brilliant Sarah - well done for getting the job and loving it!

MissPenteuth · 17/11/2011 22:08

Evening all, not much to report but checking in anyway. Muddling along here as usual, starting to gear up towards Christmas (I love Christmas Grin) and it'll be lovely this year as Izzy's more aware of the excitement.

sarah, glad to hear you're enjoying your new job. Almost makes me wistful for lab work myself!

scooby sorry to hear your employers are still being useless wankers difficult. Hope you're enjoying your break.

Pacific how is the nanny getting on? And wwell done on the weightloss. I've definitely put a few pounds back on recently; just can't be bothered to get up and exercise on dark mornings. That wouldn't be so bad, but coupled with my inability to keep away from chocolate biscuits..

Lots of MMM birthdays this past week or so, hope everyone enjoyed themselves and ate lots of cake :)

MissPenteuth · 17/11/2011 22:23

Forgot to say, sarah mentioned having another meetup. We definitely should, maybe some time in the new year? I'm definitely up for that. Have toddler, will travel Grin

MandaHugNKiss · 17/11/2011 22:49

sarah so happy you're enjoying your new role

Evitas Dr Evitas, I presume. Grin Many congats!

scoob I literally don't have words. Utterly rubbish, I'm so sorry.

I meant to name check more, but so blimming shattered it's ridiculous.

As missP mentioned - I was one of the birthdays. 38! Shock I also became engaged to DP (I've become Gollom-like when I look at my finger Grin) and I also went to the fetal medicine centre after my nhs nt scan left me highly anxious! They were utterly amazing there and apat from giving me the lowest risk possible for my age (hurrah!) also told me with 70% certainty that this baby is another boy! I'm 14 weeks today (or 14+1 by FMC measurements) so I'm very much in the 'this is when the last baby went' zone but handling it ok mostly by burying head in sand!

Sickness mostly won off but food aversion still reigns (couldn't eat my birthday meal in the restaurant D F and I first ate together...).

So tired. Did I mention that?!

James says more now. No, literally: Moreeee. Moreeee. Usually after his favourite programe (curious george) finishes or if he wants more booooo (his word for my breast - yes, still bf'ing him!).

MissPenteuth · 18/11/2011 10:12

Wow Manda, lots of great news Grin Congratulations on your engagement! And happy birthday, but sorry to hear your meal was scuppered by lost appetite. Hope you had a lovely day anyway. Glad to hear the FMC visit was reassuring; it must be an anxious time for you. And a boy, how lovely. I hope your energy returns soon now that you're into the 2nd trimester :)

I'm thinking often of all our expectant MMMs; I have four pregnant RL friends too, one due in Jan, two in March and one in April.

Is anyone else's LO completely averse to nail-clipping? Izzy's always been reluctant to let me do her toenails, but now she won't let me near her fingers either. I had to do them at 2am this morning when she was asleep in our bed, and there were two I couldn't get to because she was sucking her thumb. I've tried explaining that it doesn't hurt, demonstrating on my own nails and on toys' "nails", but she's just not having it. Oh, and bribery didn't work either.

Pingpong · 18/11/2011 22:41

hello ladies
I am a rubbish MMM I've been missing in action for too long :( I'm sorry.
There is so much to catch up with but the one comment that is sticking in my mind is squiggly saying "F*ck off Bruce"

Proud of all of you great MMM - DrEvita, Sarah's new job, Manda's engagement, babies growing in tums and plans for others to have more - well you are all fab :)

Sorry to hear of continuing work woes Scooby and the bullying Sarah. I've had a big bust up with a 'friend' too - really makes you re-evaluate who you are friends with but hopefully we can all feel stronger.

G is very funny she is very interested in the potty. She hasn't done anything in the potty yet but she is keen to sit on it (usually with nappy and clothes on) and looks surprised when there is nothing in it. I heard her grunting today so asked her if she wanted to sit on the potty and she ran over saying yes mummy but the poo was already in the nappy. I pop her on the potty before bathtime too - she doesn't do one -usually waits til after the bath and does one over her clean leg and the carpet

She also had a nasty fall - off the kitchen chair on to the hard tile floor with dummy in the mouth ... blood from mouth and nose - screaming from her and her hysterical sister :( Then 5 days later she fell over in a huge puddle and laughed but then wobbled and did another face plant and as the injury was still 'fresh' she started pouring with blood again - 2 hysterical girls again (and a dog that was stinking of fox poo to add to my woes) I had a dentist appointment the following day so got him to have a look at her teeth and he thinks she will be okay but it is horrible to see blood pouring from their mouths. Poor L now says 'is there blood' if G trips over or has a bump. Think she takes after my father/me and isn't good with blood.

Hope the nanny is working out well Pacific.

Right I promise I won't leave it so long next time

Flisspaps · 19/11/2011 09:42

Manda what fantastic news on all fronts Grin

Smac DD likes to stand in the potty but won't sit on it. The mere suggestion causes a meltdown so it's being left for now. Sad at injuries, isn't it just so horrid seeing them hurt?

MissP I am very excited about Christmas too! DD has never permitted nail clipping so it takes two of us to get her feet done and fortunately her fingernails seem to keep themselves short, for now anyway!

PacificDogwood · 19/11/2011 22:26

Manda, congrats on low risk for ongoing pregnancy, engagement and ring Grin and chatty DS - all really lovely to hear.

Yy to another MMMM.

Smac, as Joe is a Climber, he is also a Faller Hmm. We have blood regularly - not only when he bites his tongue . So, sympathies. It is amazing how quickly the most gory mouthwounds seem to heal. And Joe's facial scars are really very fetching... he has needed steristrips on 3 seperate occaions; 2 of them with me Right There, but unable to prevent the impact

Sarah, 'tis lovely to hear you sound so enthusiastic about your new job.

Nanny is working out really great Smile, she has now done 2 weeks. However, we have some ongoing concerns re DS2's behaviour (I did another thread about him/his brothers). He is just a very unhappy, very angry boy who fights and fights with everybody all the time with little or really no provocation. Poor Nanny had a couple of awful school runs with swearing, refusing to come off the road Shock, general fighting mainly between DS1 and 2, but also DS2 and 3. He is incredibly brutal towards his 3 year old brother Shock. I am really quite upset about how troubled he is. And I have no idea why Sad.

But on the bright side: yay to Christmas Smile.

SiameseIfYouPlease · 20/11/2011 15:53

hello ladies. Im the most awful lurker - Ive been watching this thread for ages in silence Blush
Congrats, huge big ones with trumpets and everything to Flip, Fliss, and Manda, and dalrymps for their happy bumps, and a marching band for sarah, sariska and evitas for their work/ study news. Really happy for you guys. and reaching back into the archives, a hearty slap on the back to ICWAS for her foray into local politics. and cheers! Wine

Thing is, Ive found it difficult to post - there was some bad times on the thread and I didnt want to add to them, and then there was all this good news and I didnt want to bring you down. Nothing huge, just began to feel more and more down and anxious, crazy thumpingly anxious with added insomnia, over the summer. Im pretty sure I hadnt felt quite right since DD arrived, and it took some massive rows and sleepless nights to finally admit to myself i needed some help. I talked to the doctor, who referred me for CBT (still waiting btw.. huge waiting list) and eventually persuaded me to try some Antidepressants (I was still bf DD). Well, I dont know if mine was a typical experience but the AD's made me feel awful, like morning sickness and doing your driving test and your a levels all in one day. I didnt sleep for 3 days! So I stopped taking them. if that was the cure, I decided to keep my original set of problems!
I wouldnt describe myself as having PND though, it was much more about the anxiety and tension, but again, I couldnt tell you what about - no fears about death or injury, just a huge knot in my stomach.
To cut a long story short, I feel much better now - three months now of feeling much better - hooray! I started talking about how I was feeling to pretty much anyone who genuinely asked - my mum, my best friend, work buddy - and it turns out a lot of people had been worried about me and were surprised Id lasted this long- mostly around the fact that I live on my own during the week as DH works away, and that I have no family near and I commute 1 and 1/2hrs to and from work. I do wonder why no one had thought to point out this before, but its nice to have some support now. And DH has finally, after 6 years, decided to stop contracting and has got a job in Leeds too, so although we'll both be commuting, he'll be living at home. :) but will we like living together after so long?
Also exercise, weekends away childfree and a new hobby, and St Johns Wort and herbal sleeping aids, and removing my Implanon (not sure if thats just a theory, but I feel lot more like having sex since I had that removed Blush ) and sadly, stopping breast feeding at 18 months, have all contributed to a new, happy me.

So, Id like to start hanging out with you guys again if I may?

And Im totally up for a MMMM :)

RubyLovesMayMay · 21/11/2011 16:28

Same as Siamese I have been lurking on this thread for ages and didnt feel I could contribute much as I've only met a few of you once at the meet up in Birmingham Blush I've been feeling braver posting a lot more recently on random topics so thought I would say a quick hello

So hi to everyone on here that remembers and hi to everyone that doesnt I guess...

News from me, pregnant with DC2, 18 weeks tomorrow, cannot wait for my scan which is in 2 weeks. Im dying to know if its a boy or girl and ignoring the possibilty that they might not be able to tell me as I will cry

Due on 24th April so will be a lovely 2 year age gap between DD and DC2.

DD is growing up lovely, sings and chats away like nobody's business and is very funny. Obsessed with shoes, mainly her own old ones which are too small for her and tries to put them on. Also loves lip balm and puckers up for me to put it on which is very amusing.

MissP DD wont let me cut her nails, only because she has to do them the little madam so that gets left until she is asleep.

Cant think of what else to say so I better get back to work

Hope you all are well x x

Flisspaps · 21/11/2011 21:39

Right, can post properly now I'm on the big computer rather than the phone, what a fiddle that is.

RubyLovesMayMay I think I spotted you on another thread a few days ago, when you agreed with me about something (thank you if it was you!) and I thought it was you but I wasn't certain that it was you IYKWIM! You're due shortly after me then Grin

PD Glad it's working out with the nanny but :( re DS2. I have no advice or suggestions but I do hope that you get to the root of his troubles, it can't be much fun for him either.

Siamese FABULOUS to 'see' you - I thought you had been quiet recently and I'm sure everyone will agree that there is always a space for Siamese (and you, RubyLovesMayMay) to hang out with us. I am glad that you're feeling happy Grin It's also lovely to see that I am not the only one being forced to endure endless rounds of singing from That Bloody Teapot. MissPenteuth* seemingly also knows of what we speak.

For anyone else worrying about not wanting to bring things down or add to any bad times that might be going on - don't worry, because that's what we're here for (as well as for sharing embarrassing and/or funny tales). Without wanting to be Channel 5 B-movie schmaltzy, we've been through a lot 'together' and no-one should feel that they can't talk freely here, even if you don't want advice or suggestions.

20 week scan was on Saturday and all seemed well :) Turns out the midwife doing the scan was the Supervisor of Midwives who is coming out to see me to bring all the NHS guidance on 'homebirth against medical advice' - she didn't realise who I was at first, she asked me where I planned to have the baby and got rather excited when I said at home. When I suggested she wouldn't be quite so enthusiastic if she'd read my notes, and that in fact she probably had read my notes, she realised who I was. She then said 'well I didn't find anything suspect, but if I looked long enough I probably could' Grin

Me: Hmm Don't say that.

I'm pretty sure she was saying it in a jokey way but I've been so geared up to have to fight for a homebirth this time (which to be fair has been a pleasant surprise in that I've encountered shockingly supportive midwives) that really, I didn't find it a particularly funny comment. Anyway, she is coming to meet me properly in December, she thinks I've already gone through all the risks and whatnot that she thinks I need to be informed of, so it's mainly going to be a case of going through what they'd like me to do, compared to what I am willing to do, and trying to find some middle ground between the CLU birth they'd advise and the bugger-off-and-leave-me-alone-until-I-NEED-you birth that I would like to try for this time.

Ho-hum, you so know that this baby is going to be breech or transverse at 38 weeks Grin

Did someone mention Christmas? I am Very Excited.

slimmingsarahandco · 22/11/2011 19:02

Siamese :) fab to have u back x wondered about u too xglad u have some support x always here or on fb if u need to vent x

Ruby- i remember u- welcome back x congrats on dc2 :) aw all this took of babies really makes me sad that dh and i will NEVER ever do it again :(

bring on christmas, x mmmm (passes round endless suppply of mince pies x )

BlueyDragon · 23/11/2011 11:36

Big waves to Siamese and Ruby, how nice to see you! Sorry to hear you've been having such a rotten time, Siamese, but definitely bring woes here as well as joys.

Congrats on the pregnancy, Ruby and to Manda and Fliss for good baby news too. And engaged as well Manda*, how fab is that! What are the wedding plans?

I am excited about Christmas too, now. DD has her first nativity play soon so am stocking up on tissues and camcorder tape. Alex will just destroy everything unless it's a car, but that's fine by me as long as we can keep him away from his sister's toys. He is still into everything, drives me crazy. He is also into size 6 nappies, which I'm horrified about (DD was still wearing them as night nappies as recently as March!). But he regularly wakes up soaked through if he's wearing a size 5. Please tell me I don't have the only giant on this thread...
