Welcome to those with a March 2010.
Happy Easter from me....
Unwrap it quick!..

Oh, it's a new thread. Sad I was hoping for chocolate.

OP posts:

Pingpong · 06/10/2011 21:03

hello ladies - I've been lurking a little bit, trying to keep up but mostly failing. So not much to say but just wanted to say hello and promises to come back soon with something more interesting to say.

PacificDogwood · 09/10/2011 21:48

Joe has Hand, Foot and Mouth disease. This came to light after he had bitten his tongue again, it became infected again and he is on antibiotics abloodygain. Gah!
We had a very close contact with somebody with HFM earlier last week, so I had kind of been waiting for it. I think DS3 will be next: he fell asleep watching a DVD yesterday (anbody else being driven round the bend by 'EngyBengy engine man'??) and woke with a temperature, but seems fine today and has no blisters.

Hope you are all well, particularly our expecting MMMers Smile.

scooby26 · 09/10/2011 23:29

Greetings all,

Thanks for your support and advice. We get two days of 6.30 then 6 of pre 5.50. Not what I signed up for!!

For those that can remember last year it's been 12 mths so I've reapplied to reduce my hours..... Let's see what happens. I have some hope despite currently having another male childish boss who has sent me to Coventry for four days cos he didn't like me self referring for counselling as I'm allowed to do...... Oh the support..... I love it!! And no sadly I didn't win euromillions so plod on I shall !

Sleep well all! X

Sariska · 09/10/2011 23:48

Good luck Scooby - and pins in a wax effigy of your new boss.

HFM, PD? Oh dear - not a fun one that. Special sympathy at banishment (albeit self-imposed) from toddler group. Amazing how a couple of jammy dodgers and a cup of tea consumed in the presence of other adults can perk up a morning.

Quick news from here: have now finished work, started course (which I love!) and am already feeling behind on everything I need/want to do after a week of a weird illness suffered by 3.6 yo DS. Seemed like a tummy bug in that there was intermittent diarrhoea but then came a couple of days where he cried and writhed with pain for 20 minute periods with maybe about the same amount of time pain-free in between. So a little like contractions. The pain was bad enough to wake him and each time he wound up being sick. We ended up in OOH at the hospital with suspected appendicitis. They now think not (phew!) but it has not been at all fun.

Flisspaps · 11/10/2011 08:10

Scooby Fingers crossed about your change of hours application (and firmly stuck up at your childish boss!)

Sariska Hops DS is better now, poor lamb :(

All going reasonably well here, am having to advertise again as I lose one mindee at the end of this month and another at Christmas, although I should be able to start Maternity Leave at the end of January if I don't fill a space but then I'll have to return to work when DC2 is 8 weeks old (gah) but at least I have the luxury of working from home so it's not so horrific. DD has had a couple of days of throwing random wobblers - full on hysterical screaming fits - where we thought she was coming down with something, however it appears that chocolate and Deal or No Deal can cure what Calpol cannot Hmm

Dalrymps · 11/10/2011 08:16

Hey ladies! Just had a crash landing from Arcadie on my due in June threadGrin

Sorry I hardly ever post anymore, I just keep falling behind..

Anyway, just wanted to say, Arcadie, don't worry about outing me. I think most people know nowSmile

So just to let you all know I'm a little bit pregnant and due in JuneGrin This will be the third (and last!)

MissPenteuth · 11/10/2011 12:26

Congratulations again Dalrymps. I really did an actual "squeee!" when I read your FB update Grin

Everything still bumbling along chez Penteuth. Izzy is so funny at the moment though, she's speaking more and more and for some reason instead of "yeah" she's taken to saying "oh yeah" with a tone of realisation/wonderment, and instead of "no" it's "oh no!", as if the world is ending or something.

Fingers crossed for a positive result with your hours this time scooby.

Hope poorly babies are feeling better, and all expectant MMMers are keeping well :)

evitas · 11/10/2011 13:18

Darlymp massive congratulations :)

Sariska glad you are enjoying the course!

PD poor wee boy. Hope DS3 will escape the HFM, it's awful.

MP I can imagine Izzy talking a lot :) She was already talking so much when you came to our place. Super cute!

Fliss starting maternity leave in January seems like a good plan, although it seems hard to go back to work at 8weeks, even if it's from home. But maybe you'll have a baby who will be sleeping through the night by 8 weeks :) I hope you'll find the best solution.

I'm travelling today. I'm going for a conference in Lisbon and I'll be back on Sunday. In-laws are here to help DH. I never felt it would be so difficult to leave DS for a couple of days.I'm feeling very tearful. I know it's not rational, he will survive without me and will be fine. But just the thought of him calling me "ma-ma" makes me :(

Hope everyone else is well x

FlipFantasia · 11/10/2011 20:35

Evening ladies

Dalrymps massive congratulations Grin. I had spotted you in Conception (where I still sometimes lurk) so knew already and am utterly delighted for you. That's you, me, Fliss and Manda all quite close to each other in due dates - the MMMM 2012 generation are definitely on the way Grin

PD gah to HFM - not nice! Hope it's not too awful and the boys get over it soon (and you don't go mad with enforced quarantine!). Any news on the nanny front btw?

Scooby sorry to hear of your sleep stress and really hope you get your reduced hours application this time.

Fliss having some of the wobblies here too - honestly, there are times when DS cries like the world is ending because a cushion is on the floor or whatever. TTSP and all that! Hope you find another mindee soon.

MissP that is so cute about Izzy's words Grin. Did you find a nursery you were happy with in the end?

Sariska hurray for starting your course! Hope your DS is better - I had query appendicitis at 7 and then a ruptured appendix a few months later at 8 - was Not Nice to say the least.

Big waves to everyone else. Hope all is well with everyone.

All well with me - bump kind of popped out last week so have embraced maternity wear. Had my 16 week app last week (which DS came along to and he behaved just beautifully!) and heard the heartbeat which was nice. I've got my 20 week scan on the 31st so just waiting for that really.

Work's been busy and today I found out that HR had cocked up and didn't pro-rate my salary when I dropped to a 33 hour week on return to work in late March - so they've overpaid me by a grand and expected to just deduct it from my next pay packet in 10 days time. To which I went mad and insisted that as I was not at fault then why should I be made to pay back etc (for anyone wondering how I hadn't noticed this mistake my net pay is lower because of childcare voucher and cycle to work scheme deduction...plus I innocently assumed our massive HR dept could do their bloody job!). In fairness, I'd have been prepared to pay it back over a sensible time frame of six months or whatever but since my job involves negotiation there's no way I'd start at the position that I'd finish at...the good news is that by the close of business it had been confirmed I didn't have to repay it. Still, was stressful enough for me to have a little cry in the toilets after the meeting, which in our open plan office caused some [raised eyebrows] - hoping people just put it down to pregnancy hormones or whatever...

FlipFantasia · 11/10/2011 20:36

PS Evitas hope the conference goes well and that you don't miss V (and your DH) too much.

PacificDogwood · 12/10/2011 22:53

Just marking my place - Flip, the payment thing once happened to DH: v v stressful. Glad you did not have to pay it back. And hey, if you can't cry when you are up the duff, when can you Wink?!

We seem to have a new, or rather first, nanny.
It has been a somewhat fraught process and I am in no hurry to repeat it, so am hoping this one will stay with us for 15 years a long time.

Must. Go. And. Sleep.
Before poor Jojo wakes up. Again. And again. And again.

PacificDogwood · 12/10/2011 22:58

If you really can be arsed, here are some of our finding-the-right-nanny trials and tribulations.

This all happened after our first choice after the first round of interviews had accepted the job - and cancelled within the hour, aaaargh!
Nanny2 as per above thread was given a rather phantastic reference by her current employer today, so here's hoping it'll all work out in the end.

Oh, and DH's rather elderly mother was taken to a police station yesterday after she got lost driving home, got panicky, had several near misses and then pulled over onto the hard shoulder of the motorway Shock. Thank goodness nobody was hurt. Now how to pursuade her that no longer driving is her OWN idea Hmm?!

scooby26 · 12/10/2011 23:10

Hi all,

Congrats DALRYMPS you brave lady. I struggle with one! ( tho to bbfair work has been a significant factor and I shall not bring the thread down )

PACIFiC so hope nanny McPhee works for you all.
There are so many elderly persons out there who do not choose to accept their driving limitations- see it all too often. Could the costs be persuasive? Would daily taxis not actually be cheaper than the car, tax, petrol etc and save her the worry of driving with all the horrid young impatient folk??!!

MISS P- I like hearing the baby talk- DS says nowt! Well cept there and mam. Climbs and runs for England tho and can finally feed himself a whole meal with a spoon. This weeks overdue new trick! He's definitely a physical chap!

Arcadie · 13/10/2011 14:14

PD read the thread with great enthusiasm - I love a bit of drama, me. So glad you've got it sorted. MrAnchovy speaks as he finds doesn't he?!

OP posts:
slimmingsarahandco · 15/10/2011 13:25

hi all x just marking my spot! nowt to say to u all, lifes crap atm, dont want to bore u with it, nothing major just alot going on!

BlueyDragon · 16/10/2011 22:47

Quick Sunday night check in whilst I am avoiding DH who is quite poorly but in a very irritating fashion (as in his mum and sister have been here this afternoon, I have the same lurgy and can't actually speak without coughing but he has chosen today to rediscover model making. So I have looked after everyone all day, whilst he's painted and glued and moaned about how ill he is but how he's still going to the office in the morning. We Are Not Amused).

Congratulations Dalrymps! what fab news

Hope things pick up next week for you, Sarah. anything you want to share? Cos you know we're listening...

Pacific, what a saga! It will work out in the end though. Someone else will be doing their laundry, which is A Great Thing even if nothing else is quite to plan. Not that it won't be, oh, you know what I mean (sorry, have been at the wine and the Benylin (in responsible quantities obviously). If you're still trying to sort employers' liability insurance check your house policy - I didn't know it was included but you're probably way ahead of me.

Alex is v comic at the moment. DH taught him a really helpful new word - bogeys - at lunch yesterday. This would have been annoying had A not then picked up his pasta that was smothered in green pesto, held it up to his nose and shouted "Bogeys!". Boys are soooooo nice...

AfriBaby · 17/10/2011 18:37

Congrats Dalrymps and all other newly expectant moms up-thread (not entirely up to speed)...
Just thought I would share DDs first 4 word sentence with you all: "Oh shit, Mommy's gone". Blush will go hang potty-mouthed head in shame.

Dalrymps · 20/10/2011 08:25

Afri - Grin lol! That's hilarious! Haven't noted any swear words from Miles yet but Dylan's latest favourite word is Crap!Hmm

MissPenteuth · 20/10/2011 08:46

That made me snort out loud Afri, and I'm impressed by the four word sentence Grin Izzy will put a few words together that make sense (like "bin... dirty", "Daddy... tea" (DH gets home at tea time) or "dark... moon... stars" when I tell her it's sleepy time at night, but not sentences as such. Ooh, and yesterday she pointed at the toilet roll and said "nose (because it's for wiping your nose).. bottom.. poo!"

Grin also at "Bogeys" Bluey

sarah glad to see on FB that things are looking up, and that Rosie's hosp appointment went well. Have you started your new job yet?

PD good to hear you sorted your nanny situation, hope it's all going well. I've sort of decided to not go back to work, and to have another baby instead. Not till next year though (mainly because DH has to come off some medication for a few months before ttc, and my periods have a habit of going AWOL when I come off the pill as well).

Flip glad you stood your ground and got your pay situation sorted. Saw R's 19mo photo on FB; so cute!

evitas how did the conference go?

to everyone else x

slimmingsarahandco · 21/10/2011 16:44

hey all x Yes Missp= Rosie had a fab hospital appt :) wont be seen for a tear now x so all good!

Harry has left his school today! (hes in year 2) we have moved him to a catholic school with a fab reputation and amazing ofsted! my reason for moving him......
1- the education!
2- i have falllen out with a woman i thought was my best friend- and have been neing bullied by her circle of friends since june! i havent told anyone on here as i know how pathetic it sounds! life has been total shit beacuse of childish people who need to grow up- all started as said friend didnt approve of a friend of mine who had an opinion! life is on the up i have a fab circle of friends and a great family so up goes the middle finger the the small minded minority!

Elliott has turned into a thug! very rough and tumble! oh dear!

bbl off to work- last 2 weeks then i am a medical laboratory assistan- i cant wait!

FlipFantasia · 21/10/2011 17:36

MissP you made the talk round-up you MN celeb you GrinGrin

Sarah glad to hear that Rosie's had a good appointment. Sounds exciting about Harry's new school, but sorry it was horrible bullying that prompted the move. Bully can happen at any age and any place (am Shock that school mums would do it as surely that's the worst way to teach your child that bullying is not acceptable!) and is debilitating to deal with. Glad you've overcome it and I'm virtually sticking my middle finger up at them too!

MissPenteuth · 21/10/2011 18:12

Did I? I'm pretty sure I haven't said anything of note ever recently.

slimmingsarahandco · 21/10/2011 20:32

thanks flip x how u doing?

FlipFantasia · 21/10/2011 22:07

Sarah all good with me - 18 weeks today and feeling lots of movements and have a proper bump, so enjoying the good stage before I get all massive and knackered again! 20 week scan is on 31st (let's hope bubs isn't dressed up for halloween in there!) so waiting for that. Hope all is good with you and yours now that you've sorted Harry's school out xx

MissPenteuth · 21/10/2011 22:19

Lovely news Flip. Feeling the baby move was my favourite part of being pregnant, it made me smile every time. You must be due mid-March then? I have a friend whose 20w scan is on Monday and she's due at the beginning of March.

sarah sorry to hear about your so-called "friends", but glad you're moving onwards and upwards.
