Happy Easter from me....
Unwrap it quick!..

Oh, it's a new thread. Sad I was hoping for chocolate.

Manda Grin at the mentalling, you test away woman!

PD I weigh about the same but only have 1 child to show for it Blush and had just started on my de-flabbing regime when I got the BFP. Haven't been able to eat anything other than crap since. How is the nannyhunt going?

heckle Sorry about the job, but hooray for more time to freelance. I still don't know what I want to do when I grow up. YY to 'Peppa Pig' and Walnut8 DD says 'colour' too when she's got the crayons out. To be honest, the child doesn't stop talking...no idea where she gets that from Blush Wink

slimmingsarahandco · 15/09/2011 22:17

Wine have this on me ladies and Brew for those who cant drink x x

BlueyDragon · 16/09/2011 22:50

Manda, fingers crossed. And it's great to hear you're finding a bit of peace too.

Evitas, hurray for finishing the thesis and good luck with the viva. Surely the assessor being young is a good thing . Did you sort out your neighbours yet?

Boo on the job, Shroomer; but yay for Sarah. Erm, on the new job, not on not putting DH under the patio. Although that's good too. Hope life's improving.

PD, 8 candidates? We had only 2 in the end but seem to have lucked out anyway. Surely the ex copper is the way to go? Pleased your conversation with your CM went ok tho.

Speech? Alex is doing ok, not as clear as DD at the same age. We had our first phrase the other day. Not the touching "Love Mummy" or "Daddy great", but ... "No pigeons". Shakespeare here we come... More seriously, I think the comprehension is more important right now? For example, my cousin didn't say much of anything until he was 2, when he came out with full sentences. He just got a stack of excellent GCSEs. And wasn't it Einstein who didn't say a word until he was 5 or something? I'll settle for lots of "No", the occasional "Yes" and general blithering. And that's just from DH.

And in other news, I too have a new job. Gave my notice last week. V scary after so long in the same place but sometimes change is good, right?

Sorry for blithering, perhaps too much Wine?

slimmingsarahandco · 17/09/2011 11:48

WD on the new job bluey x ! seems were all having a lucky streak in here atm x so good to have some positive vibes againx

MandaHugNKiss · 17/09/2011 13:41

GOt my 3+ reading on the cd digi - am 22 dpo today(5+1!), so everything is on track, hcg-wise, can't really ask for anything else at this point...

ANother new job? Good stuff bluey Similar to what you were doing before or a new direction?

You're right, sarah things are taking a turn for the better - maybe we should all form a lottery syndicate and strike whilst the iron is hot!

PacificDogwood · 17/09/2011 14:08

Smile Manda

angfirsttimer · 17/09/2011 18:58

Lurking as usual!

Great news manda!
Where were you when I was TTC?! I have learnt loads from you about conception since I joined this thread, I didnt even know half of the abbreviations you use you are a mine of information!

Great news bluey! Fleet street coffee no more?

Off to centre parcs this week, hope the weather holds out!

BlueyDragon · 18/09/2011 14:47

Thank you all! Different industry, similar work but more thinking and less doing, which I'm looking forward to. And sadly no more Fleet Street coffees ang as I'm moving to Docklands.

Arcadie · 18/09/2011 22:03

Hey y'all

no lurky no posty - have been decorating the hall stairs and landing inch by painstaking inch. Still got the ceilings and glossing to do and have just found out that

  1. the boiler's broken
  2. the garage roof is pouring water in.

sigh Good job we didn't know that before or we'd never have started the decorating and I'd still have wallpaper for the blind and two tone greying ming on the walls.

PacificDogwood · 18/09/2011 22:18

Arcadie, Brew and Wine and Chocolate is called for.

At least you don't have an underground stream running through your garage...

MissPenteuth · 21/09/2011 13:07

Hello ladies, hope everyone's well. I'm finally recovering from a manic few days of travelling (well, only to Birmingham but also ferrying people round once I got there) and bridesmaiding. It was non-stop from start to finish - and I even saved the day by making table-number card holders out of Fimo and jewellery wire Grin - but it was an absolutely perfect day and I've never seen my sister look happier or more beautiful. And Izzy was good as gold, despite being kept up till 10pm after a not-very-long morning nap.

Pacific, 10kg before Christmas. That's about 13 weeks, right? So 1.8lbs a week (sorry, I don't do metric Wink). 1-2lbs loss a week is considered sensible and maintainable so it should be possible in theory. You'd need to cut about 900 calories a day I think (by eating less or exercising more), but personally I'd start with making sensible cuts to your diet, exercise a bit if you can, and see what happens. More importantly though, have you found a new nanny? I think I've found a nursery that I'm happy with, unfortunately it's the one that's a mile away rather than the one round the corner, and I still have a third one to see.

Congrats on the new job Bluey :)

ang hope you enjoyed/are enjoying Center Parcs.

Arcadie hope you got your boiler and leaky garage sorted. And Grin at "two tone greying ming".

Izzy's latest words are 'uh ohh' and 'ta tyoo' for thankyou, both of which are very sweet. Oh and 'more' which is mostly employed for food and TV watching purposes.

to everyone else.

PacificDogwood · 22/09/2011 22:36

Thank you, MissP, my brain box is never organised enough to think of it in such logical terms (wt loss devided by nr of weeks etc). I am still on the wagon, waist bands are feeling loose Grin - shame there is a long weekend of debauchery coming up:
we are going up North to the lovely West Coast of Scotland for 4 days of drowning in the incessant rain sitting in a jacuzzi: my idea of perfection - bubbles around me and bubbles in a longstemmed glass Wink. We are going with friends with kids; wish me luck.

Smile

scooby26 · 29/09/2011 08:08

Someone out there must have an answer or this child will be up for adoption!

4.50am today, 3.50am yesterday...... Got him back to sleep yesterday after 2hrs but not today....

What on earth will stop him waking in the first place? I an find no rhymme or reason..... On the vvvv infrequent good day of 6.15 he has 1hr 40 sleep at lunchtime and bed at 7.15... But I never get more than 3days at that before back to 4-5ams. On those days clearly he must need extra day snooze but like yesterday- woke after 1hr10! I kinda think it's the theory of not enough sleep but he wakes up so dunno how I can ever get him to have more! He was awake 11hr 20 of yesterday from second wake but has only slept 9.5hrs last nite- it's clearly not enuf- he a grumpy little s**t like his mother!

18mths of this- the last 12 back at work on shifts.... What am I supposed to do? He had maybe 3mths last summer when he slept but never since. Going into his room and coming back out makes him worse its a complete non option!

scooby26 · 29/09/2011 08:09

It's not light, he has complete blackout blinds. There have been occasions of neighbours/wet pants/teething being the cause but not every single damned night!

evitas · 29/09/2011 10:59

scooby I have no answers... it seems that maybe he's overtired. I know it's very hard for everyone [hugs].
V. has also been waking up early and I've just been kind of ignoring him. We go into his room from time to time, but we don't get him up before 7am.

There's this website that I found particularly helpful. Click on the blog section and you can watch some videos.

Sariska · 29/09/2011 16:22

Scooby - Sad. Sadly, no solutions - just sympathy. And empathy: DD is waking pretty much hourly at the moment and last night was awake between 11 and almost 4.30. In her case, I think it is teeth but even so.....

bluey - many congratulations on the new job. Meant to ask if you were around for coffee before I leave (tomorrow). Will FB you just in case. You too, Ang.

Life is suddenly very busy - in a good way, mostly. Now, if only there was some sleep to support it all.

More later. Tonnes of handover stuff at work to sort out.

hecklephone · 01/10/2011 17:48

Just dropping in briefly to say I'm an auntie - yay! SIL gave birth earlier today - it's a girl! Weight 7lb 2 and a beautiful name - Isla Emma. So pleased for them and excited about meeting her for some newborn cuddles! Smile

PacificDogwood · 01/10/2011 18:34

scooby, lots and lots of sympathy - 'tis soul destroying!
Co-sleep with him from his early morning waking onwards? That's what I do, not every night thank fully...
Wake to sleep? Sounds scary, but seem to work for lots of people. A MNer's experience of it
No Cry Sleep Solution? Lots of tips I found useful.
Gin? (for you, not him Wink)

Bluey, congrats on job!

AuntieHeckle, congrats on niece Smile

I had a hectic few days after our return from lovely Tayvallich as DH was away a few nights and is now working the weekend. Bedtime for 4... aaaargh!

Joe remains a rubbish napper with all the extreme grumpiness/falling/crying that entails. Today he slept his usual half hour, woke screaming and inconsolable (the usual), spent 45 min crying/throwing himself to the ground/attacking his brothers/not wanting to be held/not wanting to be put down. Eventually he laid down on the kitchen floor, I took him upstairs, tried to put him in his cot which made him kick off again. He kepts straining to get off my arm, so I put him down (on the floor) and he slept 1hr 45min Shock[faints clean away]. Asleep almost 2 hrs On The Floor.
He goes down ok at night now (mostly) and sleeps through (mostly), so I am not complaining, just wtf Confused?!

Hope you are all having a nice weekend Smile.

Arcadie · 04/10/2011 13:16

Hecklephone Congratulations. Auntiehood is great

PD Your little Joe... he is a proper tinker isn't he!? I love that the floor worked better than everything else. Grin

Scooby My every sympathy. That sounds just like a form of torture. I'd second the grab a duvet and go lie on the floor next to him shushing him. At least that way you're resting. I have to do that with Sim every 2 weeks or so. Irksome at best. I also find that a very dark, quiet bottle with Calpol helps.

BlueyDragon · 05/10/2011 08:06

Congratulations Heckle!

Pacific, friends of ours had a nightmare sleeper and they accidentally discovered she slept better on a futon. Maybe Jo is just a bit more primeval Smile?

That's rubbish Scooby. You're amazing with all you do and cope with that.

CoffeeMummy · 06/10/2011 20:05

Hello everyone, it's hecklephone here! I've namechanged Smile. I know, I know, it's confusing - but I'll try and remind you all every now and again .

I'd gone off hecklephone - it always sounded a bit spiky Hmm and my new name ties in a bit better with my Twitter and blog persona.

scooby I don't think we've got it even half as bad as you but fwiw DD2 is still a pretty crap sleeper and still co-sleeping Biscuit. So no fabulous solutions from me - I clearly haven't got the answer, sorry! I just keep hoping and praying that with every month that goes by, she'll continue to improve a little. After all, they won't be doing this when they're 15...

It's October hols here but I've managed to skip most of the childcare (jammy emoticon) cos I've had some kind of fluey virus so lovely MIL has been helping out a lot and I got a couple of days of sitting on the sofa watching TV, napping and doing NOWT. Bliss. Grin It was worth the shivery, yukky feelings just for the peace and quiet - how bad is that??!
