Welcome to those with a March 2010.
Happy Easter from me....
Unwrap it quick!..

Oh, it's a new thread. Sad I was hoping for chocolate.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Shroomer · 24/05/2011 14:52

I'm lurking. I have appt for a hysterosalpingogram in a couple of weeks (just before I go away to Italy for hol). (Just thought I'd drop that in). Though Pacific has confirmed my nagging doubts about how relaxing it will be. God forbid we get stuck at Newcastle or Gatwick airport on the way out.

Hecklephone I completely understand what your saying about your DH. My DP is the same. Never says on a weekend 'oh no, you stay there and go back to sleep, I'll get him'. grrr.

Sariska · 24/05/2011 15:12

Hello I'm here (and work avoiding). Have been lurking a bit but mostly just getting side tracked by RL. (Never thought I'd say that!)

It was my birthday at the weekend and I celebrated with Friday off work (sleeping, shopping and eating tapas) and dinner out with DH on Saturday. It was all very nice but now I am very tired again as we are also members of the Early Risers club (DS, and sometimes DD), not to mention the Still Not Sleeping Through club (DD). Oh, and Heckle, we still co-sleep at least part of the night - and my DH is like yours and offers me the chance to go back to bed once I've been up for 2 or 3 hours and have almost pure caffeine flowing through my veins. He's happy to give me a lie in but I have to ask and he's often (deliberately?) difficult to rouse even with 2 small children frolicking over the bed. I, however, very quickly reach the point of having to get up in fear of someone having an accident.

Great to hear about DD's walking, BMI. We got my DD her first pair of shoes yesterday: small red ones that look just like doll's shoes. Never having worn anything heavier than those leather-soled bootees, she couldn't quite work out why her feet were suddenly so much heavier. She walked up and down the shop lifting her feet from the knees and with an expression of mild puzzlement on her face. She soon got it, though, and brought them to me this morning to make sure I didn't forget to put them in her nursery bag Grin.

Sani Beach Club sounds lovely, manda - even though I do know exactly what you and PD mean about holidays with kids not being, well, much of a holiday. We also nearly booked into Sani for this summer but are now going somewhere altogether colder and more northerly instead..... Am hoping it will not be too cold as took both DC to the beach (south coast, natch) yesterday and DS spent the whole time wearing gillet, fleece and rain mac huddled inside the cosy toes in the bottom deck of the P&T. Admittedly it was a tad windier than I was expecting but I am still fearing that I am going to have to buy out half of Blacks or Millets for our "summer" holiday.

slimmingsarahandco · 25/05/2011 21:24

hey everyone x

cooked a mahoosive slimming world quiche and thought i would come share in here! enjoy x

hope everyone is ok - oh and Elliotts new word is MINE!!!!! oh dear!

PacificDogwood · 25/05/2011 21:40

Oh dear, now I feel guilty that I have put every naive first time holidayer-with-young-child off your holidays before the Season To Take Off To Sunnier Climes has even started - really sorry Blush. I am just a grumpy old hag, just ignore me. Like with everything else to do with child-rearing, the things that made you tear your hair out at the time, will be a good story to tell and make you laugh when some time has passed. And you will create proper Family Memories (and 2 gazillion photographs if you are anything like us - desktop harddrive is groaning Grin) and it will all be worth it.
One has to Adjust One's Expectations though, I find...

Only one comment re DH and volunteered lie-ins - that does just not exist. You need to Spell It Out. In words of One Syllable. Repeatedly Grin.

Thank you for evitas being so kind about us - I told her that I remember our living room looking like hers: quite organised, grown-up desk area, sofas, telly, some baby toys and books in primary colours, all chosen for their cuteness and educational merit.... and now our house has totally been taken over by plastic tat toys and multiple electronic crap - gah! Unfortunately all the Playstation Mania is encouraged by DH.... As soon as Joe has grown out of baby toys, they are OUT! I will be our hospice charity shop's best donor Grin.

sarah, thanks for quiche, yum-yum! No words here still... Weather here is positively Novemberish, yuck!

Love to you all Smile.

MummyElk · 25/05/2011 22:00

to all.... all ok here but just fell off the MN band wagon i think, sorry! Didn't even lurk!! weirrrrdddd
I'm going to go back and read a few pages, see how you all are
but in brief
DD2 walking and talking and generally being lovely. all her premolars are on the way through and this has been a little painful for us her but really, she's on good form. I'm not sure about shoes for her - her toes haven't quite turned out/flattened yet and i wonder if keeping her barefoot might be a good thing for a bit. I kept her sister's first shoes, naively thinking i'd just crowbar slip them on... Hmm not so for little miss Fatty Feet Grin
right. enough of me. time to find out about you
I'm going in!!

PacificDogwood · 28/05/2011 17:58

Yoohoo?? Hello-ho? Nope? Do you all have a Life?? ShockEnvyWink

Shroomer · 28/05/2011 20:12

[Walks into dark echoey talk-cave lit only by the blether-torch shining from Pacific's mouth. Looks at the dim light emitting from Sariska, Evitas,Manda and other once active MNetters. Thinks to self 'hmmm, this kettle is still warm, and the dribble on the pillow where 'MissPenteuth' lay is still wet. Maybe they'll be back.']

[Slaps Pacific hard on the arse].

evitas · 28/05/2011 20:19

[evitas waves to Shroomer andPD - she tries to speak but has no voice, she has tonsillitis and she is on AB, feeling very sorry of herself]

MandaHugNKiss · 28/05/2011 20:29

Ah, my light may be dim but there's life in my batteries yet. Somewhat. They definitely need recharging though... and that's not something I ever expected to be saying a week post-holiday.

(flight home was awful - James' temp rocketed. Stripped him down to a nappy, he refused medicine, worried both DP and I the whole flight by how hot he was and finallly threw up copious amounts all over me as we landed. So glad we were in Club(!))

Today, DP and I seem to have come to the conslusion that we want to ttc again. I mean, my head kinda says no... but my heart is longing for it and DP says the same. Weirdly, I haven't had any signs of O'ing since 'it' happened... until today. Naturally, DP is staying at his mums with his DD. Well, maybe tomorrow evening we'll catch the egg (if indeed it IS on its way). Gonna be a nervous wreck if I get pregnant, I'm sure.

Ahhh, I must be crazy.

Shroomer · 28/05/2011 20:41

Great new Manda - go for it! Not so great news Evitas. I hope you're better soon.

When I went into nursery after DS' nap today, he was in his cot with a nibbled tube of bum cream. DP had left it within reach Angry. He had bitten a hole in it, may have licked a bit. Shock

PacificDogwood · 28/05/2011 21:23
scooby26 · 28/05/2011 22:09

Evening all...
Nothing to report except tiredness...again... I got more sleep when he was tiny....

Anyway hugs to all.

Go fir it manda. I'm sure you'll get through it.

Nightnight...zzzzzzzzz

slimmingsarahandco · 29/05/2011 18:12

Hello all-

wow manda, how exciting but very worring too x good luck to u and dp x

Evitas hope u feel better soon x

Shroomer, all of mine have tasted bum creama nd are still living to tell the tale Grin

nothing going on here to report really, enjoying the bh with the family,x x

AfriBaby · 30/05/2011 18:26

Thread is so quiet, apart from the slightly worrying slapping and snogging going on...

Lurking here, sometimes - like many of you, RL gets in the way of MN! DD is now weaned (accomplished "cold turkey" due to work committments :( , ouch ouch ouch hurray for anti-milk meds). Anyone else's bosoms SHRUNK (shrivelled?) post-weaning? Was a mahoosive F cup during b/feeding, down to something like a C or B now. DD also walks and tries to run, has a couple of words and understands so much, am slightly Shock - note to self:stop swearing!

Manda am in awe of you - go for it! No ttcing here, no ttanything much - can honestly not remember last time there was any action of that sort Blush Also coming up to two years since last period, which is kind of weird.

Had a bit of an odd day here, DH applied for a job which would involve him leaving me for 8 months (gulp) to be single mom working full-time. Eep! Still not heard back and cannot concentrate on anything until we do... i both do and don't want him to get it.

STILL co-sleeping, somewhat reluctantly - cannot get arse in gear to a) buy DD a bed b) put it where - in our bedroom? spare bedroom/home office? c) get her used to it. Seems like a lot of effort right now, but having her trying to sleep with her bum ON my face/feet up my nose/head on my tummy etc is robbing me of precious sleep! And is of course entirely unconducive to any other bedroom activity.

Massive (for me) and rather me me me post - now its your turn! Greetings from Africa!

AfriBaby · 31/05/2011 17:21

Ok, have killed the thread. Oops.Sad

FlipFantasia · 31/05/2011 20:05

Hello ladies [kicks tumbleweed out of way]

Loving all the random snogging and arse-slapping going on Grin. Hope everyone's had a good long weekend.

Afri how exciting/nerve wracking about your DH's potential job. Do let us know what happens. And well done on the weaning - still BFing here but since it's only about twice a day it's fine.

Manda sorry to hear that the holiday ended in such a vomit-strewn manner but hope you had a lovely time away nonetheless. And it's great news that you and DP feel ready to try again. It will of course be terribly scary but I really hope you catch that egg.

Dalrymps we had a phase of the standing up in the naps for naps and bedtime. Constantly putting him back down was both frustrating (for us) and hilarious (for him). So we just left him. He figured out quickly that he could just lay himself and go off to sleep. So now after bath/feed/story/being put into cot he'll play for a while (standing up, walking around the cot, throwing out his toys) but will lay himself down and sleep when he's ready. Glad to hear you're enjoying your new job - sounds like a great way to get some experience that will be relevant when you train as a midwife Smile

Heckle good luck with the freelance writing - you'll be great at it!

PD and Evitas how excellent that you had you met up. It sounds like a lovely time was had by all. Though sounds like you've been having terrible weather!

MissP yay for Izzy walking! The photos from Montenegro look divine.

Shroomer good luck with the HSG - I had one a few years ago when we were ttc without success and I found it fine. Some of the things I read on t'internet had me quite nervous about it but it was really like a smear, but longer (and I had a nervous junior doc who couldn't get the tube paste my cervix and had to call in a registrar, so even with my legs akimbo for nigh on 20 mins it was fine!). It's very interesting to see the x-ray screen (nerdy emoticon). And am Envy about Italy!

Big waves to PD Melk sarah Arcadie Sariska Bluey Siamese Smac Donttry and everyone else. DS is just about to finish in bath so not much time left to post.

We had a couple of nights camping over the weekend - just headed down to Kent but had a glorious time. It was a farm, so lots of lambs and cows and chickens (turns out DS does not like animals!). We spent a lovely day in Rye (gorgeous town) and just generally had a chilled out time. Have definitely got the camping bug again and want to go away more now! Am planning a camping trip to wales in July - the siblings in Ireland are going to come over with their kids so all the cousins can camp together. Should be great craic.

OK, time to get DS off to bed! Toodle pip for now.

FlipFantasia · 31/05/2011 20:09

Gah! Forgive my typos Blush

evitas · 31/05/2011 23:25

[evitas stills aphonic but waves and smiles toAfrica and Flip, and crosses her fingers for Manda. Waves to everyone else]

Shroomer · 01/06/2011 16:25

[picks up the tumbleweed and eats it]

Flip I'm not looking forward to the HSG, but your post is reassuring. Still, I will take some paracetemol before it.

All of you co-sleepers, I don't know how you do it. It's hard enough when he wakes up in a different room at 6/6.30.

BlueyDragon · 01/06/2011 16:49

[wonders if Shroomer has been spending too much time with indiscriminate toddlers given her eating habits; offers handful of compost as a test]

What is going on with this thread? All the snogging and slapping, it's worse than Holby City/Game of Thrones/insert other excessively physical TV programme of choice here. Some of us don't wish to watch ... [tries to look prudish and suceeds only in looking slightly daft].

DD's shoes sound so cute Sariska and I did chuckle at the too heavy on the feet thing. Alex loves his shoes because he knows he's going outside when he puts them on, and going outside involves mud, oil, vehicles and potential sources of death. Always a winner for him. Not that he's walking, they're more by way of toe protection.

Manda, what a grotty journey. The joys of parenthood are endless, aren't they Smile? Hope you're starting to get your head round TTC, it must be really hard to resolve all the emotions around that.

Hello Afri! when do you think you'll hear about DH's job? 8 months' away though, I can see why you might be a bit torn about him getting it.

Great news on the holiday Shroomer, less good about medical procedures beforehand. Worth it if it helps though? Very jealous of your Italian trip, I love Italy.

[waves] to everyone else, stalks off to Prudes' Corner.

MandaHugNKiss · 02/06/2011 14:19

PD has a thread in Discussions of the Day Smile

Makes me think of pixie

hecklephone · 02/06/2011 14:57

I'm so glad I'm not the only one still co-sleeping! At the moment her cot is jammed up against our bed, one side off and she starts off in the cot in the evening and usually for about - ooh - 5 mins after I get into bed Hmm I would also like to change this and move R into her cot for good but haven't the foggiest how to go about it. I've wondered if sharing with her sister might be a good plan. Anyone got experience of room- sharing, especially after co-sleeping??

All good here, girls are happy, R's mild interest in In the night garden is developing into obsession; she's got nearly all her teeth I think and is now trying to run to catch up with/ copy her sister! Plus job-hunting continues...nothing major yet though Biscuit. At least I can console myself knowing I've got more quality time with the girls - even if we are skint!

Loving the sunshine but seriously considering a spray tan in order to be able to bare my hideously white legs to the world Grin

MissPenteuth · 02/06/2011 15:26

Funny you should mention Pixie, Manda, I had an email from her the other day and she sends her love :)

PacificDogwood · 02/06/2011 22:24

Hello, afribaby, nice to hear from you Smile. Not sure whether to wish your DH good luck for his job application - sounds.... eh, challenging, I suppose. I hope it all works out in the end.

evitas, is your voice back/throat no longer sore? Btw, it was lovely to hear you speak Portugese to V.

flip, cudos re camping. Dh and I used to camp a fair bit, but have not braved it with DCs...

MissP, say hello to Pixie if you have contact with her. I hope she is doing ok - her bump must be expanding by the minute now... (And thank you for the compliment you paid me on the other thread, but sadly I spoke the honest truth re my size Blush - I really must ditch the chocolate and dust off those trainers.. maybe tomorrow).

I have posted recently on a couple of sleep threads as Joe has fineally Got It. No dramas at bed time, sleeps all night, has 1 or 2 naps during the day depending what we are doing/where we are going. This outrageous behaviour has now been going on for a whole 2 weeks Shock! I am in a state of disbelief. We have not changed a single thing about his bedtime routine, the nights are very light here, his brothers can be noisy during his bed time - and yet, still, the blessed child Goes. To. Sleep. Voluntarily. Never thought I'd see the day Grin.
So, I find myself in the lovely position to not have any advice to give re standing in cot/co-sleeping/early rising Sorry, I can't help being pleased but I will now shut up about it.

Today was my first Thursday Off - yes, I've dropped a half day. In order to be at home for my school boys a further afternoon/wk. So, they went to the childminder this afternoon and I had my hair done Grin. To celebrate. From next week I will be there for them, honest!

Hope you are all enjoying the nice weather and all babies (or are they toddlers now Shock) are as well.

FlipFantasia · 02/06/2011 22:38

PD great thread! Very funny to read (and very true Smile). Great to hear that Joe has Got It. Life sounds lovely chez PD.

Hope Pixie is doing well - hope she'll let us know via FB (or via MissP) when the latest Pixielet is born. Her due date is sometime in July isn't it, so not long now.
