Hello all - busy here tackling the washing mountain -ahhh. Am bf ds at the mo so I can sort out all the clothes later. Dentist tomorrow with ds in his car seat. More worried about him crying then all the work my terrible teeth need.

milward · 06/11/2005 19:35

What beautiful pics bubbles - gorgeous.

bubbles2904 · 06/11/2005 19:38

teenmumkent · 06/11/2005 19:42

Hi everyone,

Sorry for not chatting sooner but like i said Df has ancient computer...

Noah got weughed on thursday...11 lb 11oz!!! getting soooooooo heavy...means he's put on just under 1 lb a week...

hope everyone's ok...not got time to catch up on everything but what's this about helenemjay?pregnant? OMG

Redhelen · 06/11/2005 20:26

helenemjay - her friend is pregnant (I think - I'm sure its not otherHelen! - and its not me!) 11'11 - Noah's going to be a big strong boy.

Bubbles - lovely girls your older daughter is a real beauty - and baby Mia looks like Rachel - I'm sure they all go to the same baby school to learn how to be so cute!!!

pooka · 06/11/2005 21:53

What lovely photos bubbles.
Talking of heavyweight boys - Tom was 12 pounds on Tuesday - has put on 4 pounds since he was born. Wish it meant he slept longer at night. Shouldn't complain really but the last 4 days has been feeding on the dot every 3 hours at night, rather than going for the longer stretches I'd got used to. Hey ho....

Oh bubbles she's lovely and your elder dd too, what a beautiful girl!

can anyone help - I had a call earlier from a friend who I bumped into with ds on Weds - she, not having seen him since his first week, gave him a big munch and cuddle, next day she went down with what she now knows is MUMPS

How infectious is it?
What are the dangers for a little baby who contracts Mumps?
What are the early signs of Mumps?

Poor dd has horrid cold/cough at the moment too - came on very suddenly and seems really awful tonight

I'm ok though - have had lovely time with dp just spending the day being proud parents whilst dd helped my dear sister at a horse show (I guess she got quite chilled out in the big areana)

Dp has just left to return to work - leaving his shopping in my fridge.... lovely bacon sandwich for ME in the morning then

Right, I'm going to have a look on the NHS Direct site and then off to bed - if anyone has any knowledge of mumps I'd be grateful xxx

Cabe · 07/11/2005 07:48

Morning All - (waving like a mad thing!)

Think it's the first time I've been first to post in a morning

Good luck at the docs later RH - sounds like you've got a lovely couple of months coming up

Now... where's that BACON???

pooka · 07/11/2005 08:44

bubbles, they're gorgeous photos . I will have to organise myself and put some of Benjamin and Alice somewhere.

pooka, I too have been fanny farting . Am glad that you mentioned it as I didn't have it after DS and was thinking I was weird .

Had lovely weekend, will post more later.

Cabe, hope that Conrad is OK - hopefully he won't get mumps or if it does it will be a light case.

PiccadillyCircus · 07/11/2005 08:53

Alice was 10lb 1oz when she was weighed on Thursday. Still sticking to the 50th centile line - what an average baby. Was lookign at Ds's red book and in his first 6 weeks he put on 3lb. Must be why I felt like a milking machine when he was small .

PiccadillyCircus · 07/11/2005 08:55

Oh and one more thing before I tidy up the kitchen/get dressed etc - last night was DS's first night in a big boy bed and not a peep out of him until morning . Although when I went in before I went to bed, he was asleep on the floor (I did put him back into bed

Cabe · 07/11/2005 09:10

The NHS direct site says the incubation period for mumps is 3 weeks... I had it when I was little - hoping my antibodies will protect Conrad.

I don't know how much he weighs... at last count it was 10lb5oz - that was two weeks ago tomorrow.

I've still not heard from or been able to contact my HV

milward · 07/11/2005 09:12

Hope you get the info you need cabe.

I'm off to the dentist now. Just hope that ds will sleep through in his car seat - please, please!! He was awake most of the night & is sooo tired out. Have tried to bf him but he wants to sleep first. I hope he doesn't wake up hungry during the appointment - ahhhhh

jessyandabbysmummy · 07/11/2005 09:44

Good news and bad news...
Good news - my darling sweet little Abigail slept through last night all the way til 6.20am. I think that's pretty amazing for a 4 week old - where did that last month go?
Bad news - Abigail's big sister decided to have a very unsettled night (very unusual, even when Abigail is up) so no sleep gain!!
Am now going to catch up with posts that I've missed from Thurs.
Hope all ok.x

Redhelen · 07/11/2005 10:13

Morning all....

Cabe - sorry I don't know much about mumps - I have never had it. I'd ring the doctors surgery and ask for advise. Hopefully it would be like other illnesses and be very mild in such a youngster - or as you say your intibodies protect him and in 3 weeks+ when theres no sign of it you'll think - oh - why did I spend 3 weeks worrying (if your like me - I worry for England, Scotland & Wales!!!)

PiccadillyCircus - asleep on the floor - bless him!!!

Milward - get plenty of dental treatment whilst its free! - I did!!!!

KiwiKate · 07/11/2005 11:02

Bubbles - lovely children that you have!

Cabe - have you contacted your doctor? What did they advise about the mumps?

Just bought the BEST thing ever. Called an Eeze Rocker. Sort of like a hammock (but has a flat base) that you hang inside the cot. So when baby moves, it rocks them to sleep (theoretically anyway). Put Grace down WIDE AWAKE about 30 mins ago. Heard her chatting away to herself, and now silence, so think she has dropped off to sleep. This is unheard of for her. It is now midnight here, and she normally is awake until 130am or 2am. So I'm going to sleep while I can. I am hoping that if she stirs in the night, she will rock herself back to sleep at least some of the time. We are on an aeroplane flight path and the planes wake her up sometimes before she needs her next feed, so maybe this rocker is just the thing to soothe her? [hopeful mummy icon]

LadyLazarus · 07/11/2005 12:45

Thanks for the tips on mother + baby groups! I might even venture out to one this week (possibly Friday!), weather permitting.

Is that right that you get free dental care for the next year then? I shoud go really...

Urgh have social worker coming to visit tomorrow, to do some assessment of what a horrible mother I am / family situation we have. Not sure exactly what it entails, but I was a bit annoyed she told the health visitor all about it without even asking me, so now I will have to go through everything thats happened with the HV in the morning + the SW in the afternoon. Does anyone know what a 'section 47 assessment' involves? Not really looking forward to tomorrow to be honest

Redhelen · 07/11/2005 13:49

LL - your a very good mother. Hope the visits go well xxx

Rachel has cryed all morning on & off mainly on!!!!

beatie · 07/11/2005 14:21

oht

can't get in here much as dd1 and alice's sleeps do not coincide. hoping alice's fussiness is due to growth spurt. last few days she's not slept at all in the afternoon or evening... so feel on the go all day.

i'm wondering about a bedtime routine, do people really manage to get such a young (breastfed) baby to go down to sleep at 7/8pm? I worry that Alice is getting over-tired in the evnings (if she hasn't been asleep all afternoon) and wonder if it is worth trying to put her down upstairs at 7pm??????

Any ideas?

oh - there she goes again, can't put her down, she won't sleep. Argh. And dd1 is napping. Shame, I'd love to be able to type and not just read.

Helenemjay · 07/11/2005 14:23

Hiya girls - hope you are all ok! LOVE the pics bubbles!
Having a crap day today - have blocked milk ducts on both sides! i possibly need a new bigger bra for my mega-boobs! the ones i have now are just hanging on for dear life

Helenemjay · 07/11/2005 14:24

LOL! the bra's i mean

Cabe · 07/11/2005 14:32

LL - yes free dental care for you in baby's first year x

Can't post more - very poorly dd at home with this cold...

RH - not usually a worrier but I rather thought Mumps can have complications - apparently in severe (and very rare) cases it leads to encephalitis (sp?) - swelling of the brain tissue and menigitis... wish I hadn't looked at the NHS site now - The good thing is that my dear friend didn't sneeze of cough over my baby!!! and it's only a danger to a boys future fertility if it's contracted after puberty - a little while yet for that!!

Thanks everybody for your concerns x

Cabe · 07/11/2005 14:33

OOOH Yes I could post more
