Hello all. Would love to join youu for the cinema item, but Thursday is baby yoga. dd2 loves it. It's the time of the week she's at her happiest, so the cinema can't tempt us I'm afraid. I used to take dd1 to the picture house in Clapham for their big screams and really enjoyed it. dd2 has been missing out on that due to yoga which unfortunatly is on the same day. She did get to go and see Charlie and The Chocolate factory though with Big Sister.

Well done on sorting out a childminder DAF. I've agreed my start back to work date and agreed dates with the nursery. Now that is all sorted, I'm starting to consider seeing if I can go back only 4 days a week insead of full time as planned. I'm getting very confused about this one and don't know what to do. At the moment due to dd2 waking up 2-4 times a night I'm feeling pretty shattered most of the time so I'm not enjoying the days I have with the girls as much as I could. But, its not always going to be like this. Will I regret it in years to come if I go back full time? How will it affect my job? Will they allow me? If anybody has the answer to these questsions, please let me know!

MB, best wishes for your Dad for tomorrow.

hoxtonchick · 22/11/2005 17:32

heard today that dd has got a place at ds' nursery, starting at the beginning of feb. i am & . though it is almost 3 months away i guess. the only problem is that they do reduced hours for the little ones - 9:30-3:30. ds goes 8:30-5. not quite sure how we're going to resolve it.... maybe a childminder, or mil. or i could leave work at 2:30 .

hoxtonchick · 22/11/2005 17:33

oh, & it's 2 days a week.

hub2dee · 22/11/2005 18:20

Back from ped. As I kind of thought, head within normal limits, dd seems developmentally fine. Suggests a re-measure in a few months to see how things are progressing. Nice guy.

mrsd - your dad is one cool fella then, huh ! The one Spinners album we had was played loads and loads as a kid. Catchy lyrics and big, ballsy sound, eh ! I am glad your dd's performance tickled you pink LOL.

hoxtonchick · 22/11/2005 20:14

good news hub .

Diamondsareforever · 22/11/2005 20:26

yes, good news hub.
I am also a bit concerned about dd being cold at night- she is in a sleeping bag and a sleepsuit but has really cold arms and hands still. The last few nights I have put a larger long sleeve t-shirt on her as well and it seems to keep her much warmer (and asleep for longer as she was waking up more, I think she was a bit chilly). You do worry though, don't you that they will overheat?
On a naughty note, we seem to have lost her red book so we are going to be in deep trouble at the docs- we can't find it anywhere so it must be on a change mat in Sainsburys or somewhere. Shame as it has all her growth charts and things that we didn't make any notes of. I am very . Plus it would have matched her smashing new stroller!
I am still waiting on a decision from my boss as to whether I can go back part time for a while- now we have found a childminder we are going to have to start paying obviously so I must go back and earn some cash!
anyway, there's a chocloate orange with half of my name on it being tapped and unwrapped as we speak so must dash. fancy lunch next week hox? I will email you. x

latearrival · 22/11/2005 21:19

MB - hope little Vin perked up during this pm. Sorry you're having a worrying time.

Dd tried to get me up at 2.00 am and again at 4.00 but I stayed really still, and after a few shouts I heard this loud sucking noise and thought thank god for that thumb. So like HC I need her hands free. She is still being squeezed into her moses basket and sleeps on a sheepskin which I think helps to keep out the cold a bit. She's also in a growbag with about 3 blankets and her hands still feel cold in the morning. This house does get really cold at night.

Must now go and finish second bar of Green and Blacks in 2 days and watch Make me a Million - talking of money I did a mad thing and bid too much money for some pretty clothes for dd and am now hoping that someone has outbid me!

merryberry · 23/11/2005 08:49

Little Vin doing fine, Big Vin starts surgery any time now. Our heating has blown and we're freezing. May be spending night in hotel unless this is fixed today. Oh there's the compound porter, better get him up now for a look see.

What is it with cold weather and chocolate, I'm not overkeen on the stuff but have had it too nights running, craving it since it got cold.

Good good news H2D, xfx

Good news h2d. Hope you don't worry too much today MB.

DAF - I worry about dd2 being too cold at night too and also about her overheating. I've been sticking to the rules on the Grobag thermoter rigidly, but she's started waking up a lot so maybe she's too cold. I think I'll put an extra long sleave top on her tonight.

And as to spending too much on clothes, now that I've got 2 girls my argument is that anything I buy for dd1 will also get used by dd2. So, it's worth buying 'quality' articles. (i.e. more expensive) So far dh has fallen for my argument!

hub2dee · 23/11/2005 09:12

mb - when you say 'blown' can you be more specific ? Do you have shared heating in the block, or do you have your own boiler ? Is it a boiler with water cylinder or megaglo, or is it a stand-alone combi ? I can try and make some suggestions for the most simple things (fuse on supply line, low closed-circuit water pressure on combi etc.) ITH.

mrsdarcy · 23/11/2005 09:18

great news Hub
Thinking of you today mb. x

Bagpuss30 · 23/11/2005 09:41

Fab news Hub, . MB, we are thinking of you here too .

Well, my news is that ds2 is finally accepting an earlier bed time. I put him in his big cotbed when the other two go to bed and he sleeps in there for a while, wakes for a feed and then sleeps on a bit longer. Once we are in bed, when he wakes I just bring him in with us and he does the rest of the night in his crib next to me . Sounds complicated but it is working out really well and he is getting used to the bedtime routine quite easily. I am hoping that one day he will sleep through in his big bed and not even realise he is not next to me.

ds2 is out of his 3-6 month clothes and I have sent dh with instructions to buy bigger sleepsuits when he goes for lunch today. I must admit that unless we are going out I tend to stick to sleepsuits as he is sick over so many of his things and it is just easier. He weighed 17lbs exactly last night I can't believe how much he has grown.

I wonder what has happened to Pamina and also to Mommyd, I haven't seen them about for ages.

merryberry · 23/11/2005 10:56

at H2D and lovely uber-manly fixit-ness. It's a combo of our own and is OK now. Typically, there was a slight leak, seen to on Monday by boiler company and he reset everything wrong. Paulo has just returned it to its happy native state. Many thanks for your suggestions, xfx

PS, I am organising dp's works do (weekend away for 3 couples) and i am in love with this drool fest lifestyle of a place . Hope the other guys agree. Go have a drool too.

merryberry · 23/11/2005 11:00

BP, you've reminded me to go get Vin weighed next week.

We too spend a bit extra on baby clothes, but mainly cos the cheap ones fall to pieces way to fast for my liking. So I've got 3 pairs of age 9 months plus trousers for Vin at 23 quid each, but they hide poo superbly in their dark colours and are wearing as well as a north face of the eiger tent so far. downside is he looks like mini simon cowell as i have to keep them pulled up to his armpits at the mo.

cackle

hub2dee · 23/11/2005 18:40

Just out of interest, was slight leak from the PRV (Pressure Release Valve) or 'Emergency Pressure' thingy ? That religiously fails. Very glad you are now warm, and I hope Paulo was suitably gorgeous in his tight boiler overalls, LOL.

mrsd - we need to have an alternative saddo get-together for Spinners Appreciators, LOL.

hub2dee · 23/11/2005 18:41

Oh, and thank you for all the smiles sent our way re: dd and her head.

Speaking of heads, mrsd, is everything looking good your end ? X

merryberry · 23/11/2005 20:45

sweet guy though he is, dp and i are close to losing our dinner over the idea of ole paolo in tightie whities.

well, i'm very relaxed now. my dad sailed through his big op. he's still flat out unconscious now but we'll be back to taking the mickey out of each other in no time...

OP posts:
hub2dee · 23/11/2005 23:25

LOL. Hope you weren't going to lose dinner all over your computer screen into my living room, LOL. Glad your dad did well in his op. Hope tomorrow he's not in too much pain etc.

hoxtonchick · 24/11/2005 07:47

i put a blanket over dd when i went to bed & she slept 'til 6. result. it may of course be a coincidence, but i don't think i'll risk it!

hub2dee · 24/11/2005 08:50

Not sure I'm going, but would anyone consider coming to Saturday's London thang if there were to be a friendly face they 'knew' (i.e. me) ?

I've posted to see how feasible this might be, and to allow people to say 'erm - bad idea, dude'...Maybe it would just be more comfortable meeting up with individuals like wot cackle, hoxton and I will hopefully sort next Thursday.

merryberry · 24/11/2005 11:19

laugh you'll look lovely in a sparkly top I'm sure H2D. I'm not up for it cos we have other stuff on already. i was thinking earlier though of doing what you're doing, asking to go at last minute. but hey ho, other people coming to see us. now.

manky old day out there, hmmm. been out once. supposed to go to covent garden with mini-man but not feeling like hailing around in greasy dank weather. need to move to honolulu.

hub2dee · 24/11/2005 11:47

I am on that friggin flight to Honolulu, mb. We are escaping this Winter. Figured it was unique chance to do something with dd which was warm, LOL.. before she becomes a handful. Heading for San Diego. Next Winter: Sydney to see my bro for as long as I can steal dw away from Brent X, LOL. I loathe the Winter here.
