cool HC, hadn't thought about the easy to settle. i do want to go as local as possible, hence the wait till we see if we move thing (should know end of this week) - big week, my dad has his op on tuesday, was brought forward cos of well mightily occluded everything around his heart...

good h2d, looking forward to it. i vote cream cakes for afterwards, cos that can be the world's most unealthy lunch ever then:-)

am blisteringly tired. took ourselves and baby to dinner last night, little one managed the hauling around and settling in strange place fine as possible, but got back at 11 and he fed and ferreted til midnight, then fed again at 0145, 0345, 0545. i feel like gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah and have a friend in from oxford from lunchtime and we're to go to cinema this evening. i want my bed!

sometimes i really really want a ciggie again. and this is one of those times.

Oi, mb.... step away from even the thought of your death sticks, LOL. Go post on charliecat and her fagless angel thread and say you are tempted. Say hub sent you. They will treat you right !

On the Everyman Cinema web site it says the film begins at 3 (see prior link). Is that correct ? Cos cakes afterwards is gonna be a very very late lunch, LOL. We like the Dim T cafe a few doors down. yummy yummy.

Hoping next Tueday goes OK for big Vin ! X (Maybe we should both go easy on the cream cakes, LOL - have a piece of bread instead ?)

merryberry · 20/11/2005 18:25

3pm is the 1-3yr old screening, noon is the one for 0-12month olds. not very clear is it? go along a bit early and fill in their reg form and buy a coffee and met us! will aim to get there 1030-1045, but am not sure when they open doors as have only arrived at 1050 before:-)

no no cigs, just dirty cig thoughts. thanks for thoughts of big vin, i am now worrying you see. xfx

Hi all, Just packed the mil off back oop north after a very nice weekend indeed. She wanted to buy us something practical for Christmas so we immediately whisked her off to mothercare and bought a fabulous stroller which will revolutionise my new work/home/childminder life- it's only 6kg so I will be able to cart it up and down steps at train stations and on buses etc. And in a fabulous bright red too (with matching cosytoe) which I intend to decorate with red ribbons like I used to have on my bike handles. I am also contemplating pom poms in contrasting colours as well- whatcha reckon?! We have already taken dd out for a lovely pub lunch today and a walk around the lake at the park, and I'm sure there was serious stroller envy going on as dd looks like a little ray of sunshine in it! anyway, must dash as dh has brought takeaway to say thanks for entertaining all weekend. then I will collapse into bed! x

hub2dee · 20/11/2005 19:53

Thanks for clarifying, mb. I thought dw had told me it was noon ! We will meet you around the time you specify to allow either of us to be late and we will eat nice things and watch a nice film.

(By the way any Londoners who want to join us are also welcome !)

I'm sure you're worried. Smoking (perhaps like eating cream cakes, LOL) won't do anything nice for your ticker though !

hoxtonchick · 20/11/2005 20:10

oooh, thursdays are good for me as ds is in nursery. can i park in hampstead or is that a really stupid (& expensive) question...?

hope everything goes ok for your dad mb.

we've had a day out on a steam railway today. very popular, though dd screamed most of the way home. arrrrgh. more giggling at bedtime though .

hub2dee · 20/11/2005 22:05

was gona specifically invite you by name, hc, but thought you might feel to much Internet Freak Pressure, LOL.

Parking in Hampstead is a pain. It is hard to find spaces and the parking is expensive, and often not for 4 hours etc etc...

Bus ? Tube ?

Maybe dump your car near to mb / my home and travel up with either of us ?

(Just realised, our car can't take three adults (me, dw, you) and two car seats... we might walk it though ......brrrrrrrrrrrr it'll be cold !)

mrsdarcy · 20/11/2005 22:31

Can't join you in London but I will be doing the same thing up here! (although Mrs H isn't on for a few weeks - I'm seeing Harry Potter )

Hope your Dad is Ok, MB.

of your stroller, DaF!

merryberry · 21/11/2005 07:43

HC, we've got an underground secure car space in kentish town you are very welcome to, and then the 46 bus goes from in front of our house to near the cinema - can I interest you in that?

Only slightly tricky bit is you need to call from street to house so we come let you in, never for a nanosecond leaving car unattended in camden streets cos the clamping vultures will pick it off and take it to the naughty car compound until you swap your first born for it if you so much as blink while looking away from it...

Its such an easy journey i just sling Vin. if you got to mine for 1030 we'd have a nice easy schlepp of it up Hampstead in time to meet the dees and chat before going in.

Saw Harry Potter last night with mate while dp babysat. Guiness was also drunk. I am a very refreshed and happy mother today

that sounds perfect mb, if it's ok with you. i can just throw my buggy in the back of the car. i'll cat you for address details. dd & i are going to see the constant gardner at our local cinema (the rio) this week - it's such a good idea.

merryberry · 21/11/2005 09:47

brilliant HC, will check for cat soon. of course bring buggy. xx

Any other Londoners welcome too ! (Don't know if anyone elese aside from hc and mb live here).

Looking forward to it.

latearrival · 21/11/2005 23:02

Good luck to your Dad, MB. Also hope your appt goes well with your dd, H2D.

All is quiet here at the moment. Since dd recovered from the sniffles she has decided 2.00 am is once again a good time to wake me with a shout then beams at me as I pick her up! The cheek of it.

Wishing now that I too lived a metropolitan lifestyle as I read about your date at the cinema. Hope you all enjoy finally meeting up.

hoxtonchick · 22/11/2005 07:50

ha ha, latearrival, my dd always grins at me delightedly in the middle of the night. she's decided to stop sleeping through (i knew it was too good to last ) so has a quick suck in the middle of the night. i do think the cold's waking her up, but don't want the heating on all night. not sure how to resolve that one - extra blankets are fine but she wriggles away from them & they don't keep her hands warm. still, no one woke 'til after 7 this morning which is an improvement!

merryberry · 22/11/2005 08:24

i solved the hands thing hc by keeping vin in sleepsuits for 12 month old (i was actually being cheap when i bought them as i couldn't be arsed with going thru all the 3 month age variations as he grew, and warm hands from long sleeves is a bonus).

am worrying a bit today which i'm not good at. vin is still asleep after being sick in the night. he's been in bed 13 hours! this is not normal. oh well, we'll see. plus dad goes into hossie for his prep today (op tomorrow). now the days are dawning i am sort of sending up a 'let all be well' thought on every in breath.

Thinking of you mb.

Bagpuss30 · 22/11/2005 10:30

Morning all. Brrr it is cold outside. Am envious of your metropolitan meet up now too. I am quite bored after last week's adventures although I really need to get some christmas shopping done so that should be keeping me busy.

Daf, glad you have the CM sorted. When are you back to work? I am very of your red buggy too, I soooo wanted a red one but all I could find at the time was black with a red inside, which isn't really the same.

HC, ds2 had some baby nightgowns when he was born and they had turn over mittens on them which were useful. I think green baby do them in a 6-12 month size which may be worth a look?

MB, hope big and little vin are both ok .

Right, I am off to consider nappies now as ds2 is nearly out of his first size ones and dh is permitting me to replace them this week, so I need to go and make my mind up as to what to get... who was it who said internet shopping was too easy .

hoxtonchick · 22/11/2005 10:35

but i neeeeeeed dd to suck her thumb .

thinking of you & your family today mb. xx

hub2dee · 22/11/2005 10:52

hc - a timer / thermostat is great cos it lets you set a nice high temp (say 21) for cosy mornings and toasty post-bath snuggles, but lets you keep the place at 18 for the night etc., 19 during the day etc etc

hub2dee · 22/11/2005 10:54

bagpuss / mrsd - who lives in L'pool ? Do you have any Spinners albums ? Grew up with one and wanted to play dd 'what shall we do with the drunken sailor', 'orange and the green' etc. etc. lol

Bagpuss30 · 22/11/2005 11:26

lol, wil ask in-laws, they are from Liverpool.....

Eulalia · 22/11/2005 11:46

All the best for your dad merryberry.

Good luck hub for your appointment.

We have no central heating in the house. L/R has a coal/wood stove. Kitchen gas heater and the bedrooms nothing! I do run a heater for 20 mins or so if really cold before bed. I've been taking ds2's carrycot downstairs in front of the fire to warm it up. then get the other children to bed. Put ds in carrycot and take him up aoubt 10pm. He wears a sleepsuit, sleeping bag, blankets and mittens. He sleeps OK till around 2am then comes into bed with me till morning. don't know what to do when he grows out of the carrycot!

Not been to the cinema for over 6 years. ds is a bit scared of big places. He had to sit in a special room at the school panto last year with a TV screen. Am a bit worried as its in a differnet place this year and they don't have anything like that so am going to phone the theatre and ask if I can take him in beforehand.

Our treat this weekend was the Harvest Dance at the local village hall - scottish country dancing, stovies and bring your own bottle. Took all the kids and they stayed till the end at midnight.

hub2dee · 22/11/2005 12:47

Bagpuss - don't worry, I've got an old record, just wondered if anyone had also bathed in this ruch cultural music, LOL.

Thank you E. Only a few more hours.

If you come to London for a break, we'll all take you to the cinema. BTW the Everyman cinema might be small enough for ds. It is not a 'full size' Warner jobby, it's like a local 'playhouse' style thing IYSWIM, and some of the screening rooms are very compact. You can take drinks and nibbles in with you. It's very civilised and there's a cake shop opposite !

Hope ds feels OK in the theatre.

The Harvest Dance sounds fun ! Was there hay on the floor ? Did you line dance ?

Bagpuss30 · 22/11/2005 13:19

That's OK Hub, I was joking .

The dance and BYOB sounds great Eulalia. We had the pleasure of a pantomime this weekend, which was organised by dh's firm. ds2 was very good throughout and had a good nosey at what was going on and then slept in his car seat during the second half .

mrsdarcy · 22/11/2005 14:32

at the Spinners, Hub! I grew up listening to them, and my father knows one of them! (I know, I know, I am way cool ). I also sing Rolf Harris, the Seekers, and Burl Ives to my lucky children, although atm they are getting Xmas carols.

I love the Everyman. There's an indep. artsy cinema here that does "big scream" viewings every 2 weeks, at which babies are welcome.

DD was the best swimmer today, which pleases my over-achieving. middle-class little soul

Off to a school governors' meeting now. Last time DD was very very farty and we all blamed it on the headmaster!

Your night out sounds great Eulalia!

Nice to see you Latearrival

Thinking of you mb
