It was getting desperate and since MrsMCJnr suggestion came in last and I was being lazy I just went for that - hope that is ok.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
latrucha · 22/06/2011 10:28

Oh Simpson, don't stress. Sabela has done that to me and she's a lovely girl. Sounds like you handled it well.

MrsMc - It sounds insane, but if I explain exactly why, S often comes round. Either that or nice thing that will be missed if what you want is not done. Oh, and get down to her level. She doesn' notice things said over her head. I've heard touching a boy to get their attention because they're so focused on what they want to do is also important. Don't know if it's true.

latrucha · 22/06/2011 10:32

Peeps round the door - What I really meant to say is .....................

YAY I'M GOING TO THE OLYMPICS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just heard I got two tickets in the second round and the event is great. Athletics including lots of thing sI really want to see. YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!

So excited.

simpson · 22/06/2011 22:17

Lat Envy Envy

My friends DD (X's brother) has been in hosp for the last 4 days and she has been diagnosed with diabetes. I only found out this morning Shock

This DD is M's best friend, she is only 2 (3 in Aug) Have just arranged to go and visit her in hosp tomorrow for an hr before I pick up J from school....

Can't imagine what her parents are going through Sad

JustKeepSwimming · 23/06/2011 21:22

Oh dear Simps :(

Can you guys have a look here?

Though I seem to have started a AIBU thread that people agree on!

latrucha · 23/06/2011 21:50

I agree JKS. It's just hellish all that stuff. I've never got presents like that either though. I think I'm too aloof from all those sorts of women and don't seem to need them. Maybe you are too? Which would be a good thing. Smile

I'm sorry to hear about your friend's DD Simpson. Have no clue though.

Can you help me out of a really silly dilemma?

For various reasons I have promised S a present. She has repeatedly said for weeks that she wants a hoover. She loves using mine, althouhg of late she has said she doesn't need to use it as I am buying her one Shock.

Now, I don't want to buy her a proper one in case she sucks her or her brother's eyeball out with it (seriously, although she does use mine under supervision).

I have looked at toy ones and they just don't work even inf they say they do. They won't cut it with S.

I've been looking at dustbuster type things but they seem to only last for a few minutes and S's hoovering expeditions can be quite lengthy. The cheap ones -and of course I want cheap - only last for 7 minutes or so. I don't want to buy a more expensive one because they are, well, expensive. Present time is looming and I have no hoover and no solution.

What do I do?

latrucha · 25/06/2011 20:54

God, I remeber when this thread was so busy I could hardly keep up Grin

Remember MrsMc's catch ups?

simpson · 25/06/2011 22:46

what are you going to do re the hoover???

Sorry no advice.....

All good here, J went to a birthday party today and a friend took him so just me & M today. We made pizzas Smile

Lots of fights between the 2 of them when J came back tho as he was tired

Off to see my grandmother in her home tomorrow with my brother. My mum is having the kids. She is still insisting she wants to go home Sad and refusing to sign paperwork needed to keep her in the home so think social services may have to get involved as she is not well enough to look after herself Sad

Also forgot to post about it earlier M is now lethal with her micro scooter Hmm and goes haring off at top speed Must warn my mum tomorrow as she is very bravely taking kids to the park, M on scooter and J on his bike...

simpson · 25/06/2011 22:50

forgot to say JKS I would be Angry re the school situation. £15 seems a lot for pressies too Hmm

I have made a boo boo with DC pressies for teachers this yr...

Was in tescos earlier and they had thorntons chocs reduced to £3 so I bought 4 boxes (one for J's teacher, 1 for J's TA, 1 for M's nursery key worker as M is leaving nursery and 1 for M's playgroup leader as she is leaving there too)

Got home and remembered J's TA is diabetic and so is M's playgroup leader Back to the drawing board I think....

Will take one of the spare boxes for my grandmother tomorrow and may have to eat the other myself Grin Grin

madmouse · 26/06/2011 09:00

LaT we have the Black&Decker dirt buster from Tesco which didn't cost the earth and it works really well - Nathan adores it as he loves hoovering.

Must say your little missy is very discerning Wink

Fillybuster · 26/06/2011 11:12

Hope you're all enjoying the sunshine :) I keep promising to try harder on this thread, but I'm not doing very well...I do lurk but never have time to actually post...sorry - i do think of you all (lots)!

Mia was 1 this week and I cried...I don't understand where the year has gone :( But I have managed to get 10 weeks additional unpaid leave added to my maternity leave so am not back at work until the kids are back at school in September...so hurrah for having the summer at home with them Grin

love to all of you and sorry again for being utterly pants xx

latrucha · 26/06/2011 12:21

Madmouse - you have no idea. For example, she's the only toddler I know who has to have the full range of matching cutlery plus a serviette to eat. She uses them all perfectly too. All butter on her toast must be melted. All cups without scratches. Any other child you give a lolly to, you can pretty much guarantee happy munching for five minutes. S needs a bowl, a fork, a spoon, a serviette. All her bedlinen must be scrupulously clean, tidy and nicely put. You simply cannot get a single thing by her. She doesn't get it from me or her Papa. Must be MIL. Grin

Actually I've made it sound more annoying than it is but it did take some getting used to!

latrucha · 26/06/2011 13:18

I'm getting her adustbuster, but I hope it arrives in time.

Simpson - annoying, but with a silver lining! I coulod do with some chocolates right now. DH is away, Danny's molars are coming through and we all have colds and diahorrea. It's a long time until bedtime!

Filly - It's Daniel's on Friday. I'm trying desperately to convince myself that I'm content with stopping at two DCs (and it's becoming easier after this weekend Grin) so the birthday will be bittersweet here too.

Madmouse - I was thinking yesterday that I'd love an update on Nathan. Perhaps I'll get on FB tonight.

MrsMcJnr · 26/06/2011 21:22

Hey Angechica ? how did the GNS go? Good for you, what an achievement. Thanks for your thoughts.
Simpson ? Thanks for your thoughts too. Sends me into orbit when they lash out at me, totally unacceptable. Great news about the scooter! Sorry to hear about your little friend and about your Grandmother, horrible situation.
LaT ? thanks for your ideas. What I find so hard is getting X to look at me when I am trying to tell him off, he will not look me in the eye (or really listen!) Great news about the Olympics. I´d get the dustbuster, might just help with the housework whilst she´s playing with it. A has a thing about things being ?dirty?, must be a girl thing! Wow, D 1yr too! Amazing!
JKS ? re your thread. I want to say that I wouldn´t have given the 20GBP in the first place but I know that I would have done because I wouldn´t have been brave enough to make a stand there but I think I would not be able to help making a comment to the nice mum who gave me the pressie in the hope that it would get back to A (&B) ? go for it girl!
Hello Madmouse!
Filly ? I just can´t believe Mia is 1yr! Do you think that their early days go faster as you have more? Lovely to have the summer to enjoy them!
Took Dcs to the local water park on Sat, they really had a ball it was a really fun family afternoon!

Fillybuster · 27/06/2011 13:55

LaT - I have to say that this weekend left me thinking that 3 was at least one too many!!! Not helped by DH having to work the whole weekend and the bodysnatchers having replaced my previously (mostly) sunny-natured Tamara with a grade-1 whinger....

But wow...can't believe our babies are turning 1....it does go so stupidly fast, doesn't it....?!

Not sure what JKS and MM would say at this point, but most of the time I do love the 3 thing, even though it does leave me permanently frazzled! :)

Fillybuster · 27/06/2011 14:01

ps JKS - too late to post on your AIBU but a) YADNBU and b) £15??? Shock My dcs are at a private school (bad mistake but stuck now) and ds' pta reps initially asked for £3 each and have just apologised for upping it £2 as they didn't have enough....that's to cover 4 teachers....and I'm pta rep for T's nursery class and have asked for £7/each with massive apologies because there are 3 teachers to buy for and only 9 in the class so had to ask for a bit more than usual.

Maybe something to raise (gently) at a pta meeting later in the year? I know someone brought it up at our pta last year, & pointed out that they have several kids in the school so £10/class was a lot (and that some people can't afford it but feel embarrassed to say no) and since then they've massively reduced the collections....

latrucha · 27/06/2011 15:17

Trying to comvince myself I'd feel the same Filly. Smile

How do you choose a bike if the child isn't there? Apparently S has learned to ride a bike at preschool and loves them. She hasn't yet worked out she might have one of her own. I'd like to get her a second hand one, but would also like it if it wasn't pink so I could use it for Danny too. We've got a great bike shop here that has several second hand outside - including a pink one. But how do I know it's the right size?

latrucha · 27/06/2011 15:18

I mean, if we go with her she'll want the pink one, and I don't want to get it for her but I don't know how you by a bike for someone who is not there.

simpson · 27/06/2011 16:23

poor old M is going to inherit J's bike which is very boy like iyswim.

M has recently just inherited J's balence bike, but cannot do it for love or money Hmm

Would possibly go for a neutral one.

When I bought J's first scooter I got a lazy town one thinking that M could have it after him, except she could not ride it so ended up getting the micro scooter anyway

Bikes normally come with a age guide on them although I have found they can be a bit "young" iyswim.

JustKeepSwimming · 27/06/2011 16:42

Try looking at something like this would that help?

Filly - it's something i may raise in the future when it doesn't feel quite so recent.
I think, like anywhere, there are some bitchy people, and it's a matter of trying to find out who they are when you're new. They were having a go at someone about something from the party yesterday but i wasn't totally part of the convo so no idea who they were complaining about or even what - actually physically moved back from the group when i realised - just as the one mum who bought M a present arrived so i could talk to her - good timing :)

Too hot here & the delights of the double-poo-change in the heat, nice. !

JustKeepSwimming · 27/06/2011 18:16

AAAAAARRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH!

Angry

nuff said!

madmouse · 27/06/2011 18:34

JKS???

latrucha · 27/06/2011 18:40

Triple poo JKS? Thanks. It did solve it. It's not so complex!

JustKeepSwimming · 27/06/2011 18:49

ther's always more poo lol Grin

no, it's the delights of a weekend with the in-laws, back from oz again. promised myself last year i wouldn't go.

then felt bad for MIL so agreed to go but, with our own plans.
2 things:

  • go down on fri (take T out of sch) & go to Paultons & Peppa Pig world. they can come or not
  • see friends on sat afterrnoon that live nearish, haven't seen for ages (told in-laws were out sat)
(then leave sun am to get back for my orch concert)

1- dh quibbling about paultons cost, finally checks with his family; oh lunch planned at PIL fri, then a local forest trip (ok, but not what i wanted)
2 - big bbq planned sat 4pmish; so trip to friends either just for an hour or cancelled, def not dinner with them.

may stay at home with M.

not-so-d-h not in my good books anyway after the sch nonsense, last minute staying away tonight & tomorrow night + this. hmph.

MrsMcJnr · 27/06/2011 22:03

Filly ? I´ve had a ?can´t handle what I have afternoon? today, 3 wet (wee) cushions (and one of them by X!), one emptied bookcase and mess in every room BUT at least they were playing nicely together, normally I am referee all afternoon!
LaT ? X loves A´s pink moto!
JKS ? not good!

Fillybuster · 27/06/2011 23:20

JKS - you need to put your foot down....fast! Maybe you and M can be excused some activities (such as the bbq) so that you can still visit and have dinner with your friends, whilst not-so-d-h and the boys spend some extra time with the ILs?

LaT - sorry, but on the whole it rocks :) :) :) Although we are permanently worried about the cost... Actually, you are very not alone: one of my absolute best friends in the world (more like a younger sister than a friend, iyswim) had her DD last week (about 3 weeks early), so now has DS (nearly 3) and DD - she's one of 4 and was always positive she wanted at least 3 and possibly 4 dcs....as of today, she's saying that maybe they're going to stop at 2, mainly because of the cost and time issues....oh, and she has lousy pgs and isn't sure she can face a 3rd cs....anyway, you've got loads of time to think about it :)

MrsMc...what can I say :( But yes, I could have done without Tamara screaming the house down at 9pm for no good reason...and poor Ari has now been kept awake for about the 5th night in a row...

Simpson - a mini-boast, as you'll appreciate this (look away now everyone else!) - I taught Ari to ride his bike without stabilisers a few weekends ago and now he's happily cycling everywhere! DH didn't think A would be brave enough to stick at it but he was really focussed about keeping on trying, even after some pretty impressive falls :) Hurrah! Although we've now realised his bike is too small for him, so T is going to inherit a VERY 'boy' bike for her 4th birthday :) :)

Right, been to zumba (gosh, it was hard!), have showered and eaten a stupidly late dinner....off to bed - sleep well x
