Quicm post from Barcelona.

Having problems managing in the heat here too and as i was also obsessed with keeping her covered she`s had 2 hot days. Today though i took her out in a vest only and ahe was much happier. Currently back at the inlaws lay on the bed with Anya feeding, hopefully to sleep.

Excuse any typos, writing on smart phone. Impressed by those of you who do it often.

Lozario · 29/06/2011 14:34

Afternoon ladies

monitor We had a tommee tippee one for DS which was RUBBISH. We have the same BT one as cherub now and really happy with it. It's almost too good, you can hear every sodding grunt!

cheese good luck for jabs. Is that 16 week jabs? Poor baby with diarrhoea (can never spell that word) - maybe it's the heat - I'm not an expert with formula due to on-going bottle refusal (!) but I thought if anything, formula could cause constipation?

routine - our evenings are sorted out now but not really any daytime routine other than she needs to sleep after a maximum of 2 hours awake. Sometimes she goes a bit longer if it's coming up to bedtime. Naps rarely more than 45 mins, I think DS has more sleep over 24 hours than she does!!

Catherine Have a fab time. I love Barcelona, it's my favourite European city :)

Right now Lara reckons half an hour was long enough for that nap! Grrr!! Going up to feed her back to sleep!

Jupiter118 · 29/06/2011 17:59

Thanks for tips on monitors will prob get a Bt one fr

Jupiter118 · 29/06/2011 18:05

From good old John Lewis tomorrow.

Re loose bum cheese only ever a day or so at a time but was foul. Did your HV have any good suggestions. Hope jabs ok also. We went for the second lot today but HV on hols and gP took e's temp and said she thought it high (37.2 so only just) and refused to do them. Wasn't worth the scramble to get there really.

Catherine enjoy Spain!!

Joined ww just trying to get head round propoints now.

Does anyone elses Lo like the tennis. E is obsessed happy as anything in bouncy chair watching it talking to the screen as she does. Very animated.

Bye for now as typing is not so good on iPhone

Cheeseandbiscuits · 29/06/2011 18:29

Thats strange Jupiter, 37.2 is nowhere near a temperature! Ah well, at least your LO dodged the needle

HV had no idea - because she knows I'm medical i think she was a bit cautious of suggesting anything. ALl she came up with was trying changing her formula.....but I don't think thats the problem. It might be ever so slightly better today, we'll see. I am keeping a poo diary! On the plus, she is gaining weight beautifully and is following the 25centile. Have lots of friends who are paedatricians so I might ask their advice if it goes on.

Izzy loves the tennis too...and in the night garden!

LovelyKatie · 29/06/2011 23:07

hi everyone
hope everyone is feeling good.

just a quick question i want to take lucy swimming but i have no clue what i do? i know that sounds rather dumb but do i buy a little costume or does she wear something special?

do i buy little swimmers nappies and put it over her normal nappy? how long should i stay in for how do i hold her while im in there?

sorry to sound so clueless but i really want to take her but i want to look like i know what im doing!!

thanks xx

Purplefan · 29/06/2011 23:41

LovelyKatie - not silly questions we are here to support one another. Smile
You need to buy the swimming nappies, but she needs to wear this in the pool instead of her normal nappy. You can choose to put a costume over the top of the swim nappy or get one of those neoprene wet-suits to keep her a bit warmer. You will need to hold her (swish her from side to side, spin in a circle etc) or you can get one of those inflatable seats to sit her in. I would personally aim for about 10-15 mins for first swim session. Hope this helps. x

pettyprudence · 30/06/2011 10:17

Hi Katie we are off swimming soon too! Just trying to get hold of a neoprene wetsuit because I would like to spend longer in the water than we do getting ready for it! Tesco do their own brand swim nappies £2.76 for 11 which I think is a bit of a bargain!

Have fun to everyone going to the London meet-up - photos on facebook please!

Muser · 30/06/2011 10:37

I use a reusable swim nappy and put an M&S swimming costume with a built in nappy over the top. Got my reusable from GreenBaby: this one. Haven't got a neoprene suit and my girl is fine in the water for the half hour our swim lesson takes. The pool isn't massively hot either. But I might get one if we start going for longer. A lot of pools suggest doing a double nappy approach as it minimises the chances of anything escaping.

It's worth checking to see if your local pool does a baby swim session, mine does. We do lots of different things with the babies, holding them on their backs and swishing them through the water, on their fronts bopping a plastic ball in front of them, and lots of splashing. All while singing songs, it's good fun.

Hi all, how lovely you had the Bristol meet up. Hope it was a good time.
Looking forward to next weeks London one.

Am off camping with the girls this afternoon. And aiming for 2 nights, to see how we get on, if its not too awful then we may stay for a third night. Am really worried about Beth disturbing other campers in the small hours!

New Forest here we come!

Wishing you all a good weekend.

Jupiter118 · 30/06/2011 13:33

Grrrrr MN keeps losing my typing ? seems to have changed and now you have to log in before you type and if you take too long you seem to get logged out again ? rubbish.

Katie no such thing as silly questions ? I ask them all of the time.

Sitting camping v brave hope it goes well.

Cheese just think my GP doesn?t like doing baby jabs as no sign of a temp now. Annoying that your HV was reluctant to give you an opinion re: the diarrhea (are you a doctor?) on the topic hope it is a bit better today.

Ahhh the night garden I am pleased it is back in my life as I have missed it. DS went off it ages ago and I find it quite relaxing.

Bought baby monitor ? BT 250 (they don?t seem to do a 150 anymore) so went for that ? will see what it is like later.

Right need to find sth to distract myself as hungry and going out for dinner tonight so can?t use all my points up before I go.

Toodle pip

sam26oscar · 30/06/2011 15:16

mmm there seems to be a few of you doing WW or SW, are you still breast feeding?? I know i could do with losing a few pounds, but i am always hungry (I was the only one to have a cake with my coffee at the Bristol meet and then devoured a huge jacket potato Blush ) i'm not sure i could do it, i know you eat loads when on it but sorry, an apple just doesn't hit the spot like a cake or biscuit does...maybe thats why i need to lose a few pounds then (as i sit wih family bag maltesers this time!!!!!) I actually blame the supermarkets for making me buy all the naughty stuff!!!Still, to be honest at the moment i'm not that bothered although Spain is looming and i have got a bikini Hmm
today we went to our second baby sensory class and agin Cassie loved it, seems silly to think that a 4 month old could get anything out of a class with singing, but we did musical statues where by you jiggle baby quite vigoursly then stop when music does, bless her she just looked cinfused the first time but by the 4th she was grinning it was so funny! Then we finished by standing over them with a gymnastic type ribbon on a stick and making waves over and around them. Then she was so relaxed she fell asleep at the goodbye song!!!
i have just got Cassie a neoprene suit from ebay for £2, think i will test drive it tomorrow.

1catherine1 enjoy spain Smile

well, i suppose i best get tea in the oven for Oscar as he has got football training at 5.30pm what a rubbish time!!

Cheeseandbiscuits · 30/06/2011 18:13

sam I am doing SW and you get extra for BF so you will be able to eat TONS. We also do a sensory class, well gymboree. Its awesome, Izzy loves it too.

Catherine enjoy Spain!
Sitting enjoy camping, how brave. I am incredibly IMPRESSED and a bit jealous!
Re: swimming. Izzy wears boots own brand swim nappy with either a swimsuit or bikini bums and a neoprene suit. She enjoys it, though we haven't been due to the squits.

She is better today, only had 2 explosions, so much better than 9! I had a fun evening out with the girls from NCT last night. It was great, felt like a civilian in the real worls! Bit hungover today which made legs bums and tums a killer.

Better go, DH is bathing Isobel and I can hear screaming (her, not him)

Pameladej · 01/07/2011 07:53

Hi, I'm new to this site but would love to join in on this topic as my little boy (is that DS?) was born 9/3/11. It's nice to read what other mums are up to with their little ones. So far I've been swimming and to baby massage and was thinking of gymboree but have been a bit put off by the monthly fee. Is it worth it?

pettyprudence · 01/07/2011 08:43

Hi Pamela, welcome to the group :) I haven't done gymboree but a friend did and loved it.

We are having a lazy at home day today (well Arthur is doing the lazy bit, I have paperwork to do!). Kind of enforced as DH has a new job and needs the car. Think i'm going to have to tackle the buses round here....

sittinghippo · 01/07/2011 08:58

DH just washing up so got 2 mins to mn. Addicted? Moi? :)
Good night, Beth woke twice so not too bad. bit chilly overnight but so lovely sitting outside tent in early sunshine with a coffee!
Welcome pamela what your Lo called?

ckny1 · 01/07/2011 10:58

sittinghippo, (name change AGAIN? Does this mean that the shredding worked? :) ) very impressive that you can MN and camp simultaneously!

Welcome, Pamela! My DS was born on the same day as yours!

Ugh, so much to catch up on here, but it's been a busy work-related week (fun to be able to help out from home, but a bit intense as needed to read fast and furiously between naps!)

First flight to Germany went fine! It really is easier at this age, I think. He slept for most of the (short) flight and car rides to/from airport. And my very sweet ILs had EVERYTHING for us, and even fanned out the nappies and stuff on a tray like a 4-star hotel! MIL made a few beautiful mobiles! Am hanging my head in shame by my lack of motivation to be creative these days...(um, especially when I saw the beautiful hand-sewn work on FB, Prudence)!

Only problem with trip was that he was overstimulated with so many people wanting to hold and play with him. He slept it off when we came home though (which was helpful while I did my work stuff!)

Franz also got his German passport this week! The kleine Mann has so many identity docs from so many countries that my ILs call him James (Bond)!

Teething here, me thinks! The little Master is not a happy one these days, except for short moments of distraction during playtime. He is a dribbling, hand-sucking, fussy eating, whiney machine, poor chap! :( Will try Nelson's, unless anyone has other recommendations.

Am so excited for the Bristol Bunch and their meet-up, and hope to see the London Ladies soon!

Muser · 01/07/2011 17:55

My baby can roll over from back to front! She is very impressed with her new skill and has already rolled off the sofa. Thankfully not hurt by it. She is currently laying on her tummy trying to work out how to get her arms out from under her to grab her Taggie ball. I think she has one out.

OP posts:
sam26oscar · 01/07/2011 20:58

muser* yay well done baby Smile
Well, nothing new here really!! Cassie can roll from back to front on the bed but still struggling to get the final leg over..as it were!!! I had the worst night in ages with the little mare last night Sad. No idea what her beef was but she woke almost every hour from 2am til 6am then thought she'd sleep in!! Hopefully its because shes learning this rolling buisness and not regressing after a week of fairly good nights!! I'm such a task master DS has just dropped a packet of popcorn over my (new) sofa so i've made him get the hoover out Grin then its bed..but he doesn't know that yet!!
hopefully its going to be nice tomorrow we're off to crealy park with my 4 nephews.
We tried out the swimsuit this morning and it seemed really good, we were in there for about 25 mins, not sure if it was the suit or the fact that there was lots of other babies in the pool. its a mother and baby swim class with singing and toys etc, next week the instructor said i could dunk cassie if i want Shock anyone else "dunked" their babies??!!
have good weekend and hope its nice and sunny!!

Cheeseandbiscuits · 01/07/2011 22:13

Congrats muser, how cute!

sam I used to love Crealy! Esp the deathslide, is it still there?Yes I have dunked Izzy, hated it the first time, is now inidfferent!
Pamela welcome. Izzy loves gymboree. It is a bit pricey but it is so fun and stimulating!

Muser · 01/07/2011 22:19

I dunked for the first time last Monday. She wasn't overly impressed but not in bits either. It was a bit tricky as the instructor said to blow hard in her face first as it would make her hold her breath, then dunk. But I'm not sure I did it properly.

I'm hoping to do a Waterbabies course in September if I can get on it, then she should do lots of underwater swimming. Also thinking that I ought to go to Baby Sensory or gymboree as she's so much more active now.

OP posts:
Cheeseandbiscuits · 02/07/2011 07:28

I can recommend gymboree - izzy loves it. I think its nice to do something purely for their entertainment and they have such lovely ideas there.... Waterbabies starts on Monday here so will let you know how it goes.

Diarrhoea ongoing but easing. She coughed while I was changing her and managed to push a bit of poo about 1/2metre across the room! Lovely!

cherub59 · 02/07/2011 08:56

I can recommend Gymboree as well - have done it with my big boys, though I preferred monkey music when really little as I thought it was better for real little ones. Little Gym is also good - I switched to that from Gymboree when Gymboree times for ds2 clashed with nursery pick up/drop off times for ds1.

Worst night for ages with ds3. Last week he has 3 times slept 7.30-4.30 then to nearly 7 but last night he woke at 11 and then I just couldn't settle him till 3.30!!!! It was all wind I think ass once he finally did some big burps he settled till 6.45. So I got a grand total of 3 1/2 hrs sleep!

Got my dad staying till Sunday as we have ollies christening. Managed to make the christening cake yesterday lunch at nap time then decorated it at 10pm after a glass of wine!!!

So tomorrow I have 24 adults and 14 children for lunch!!! Thankfully a friend offered to come over tomorrow morning and help make the place presentable!!

Took ollie swimming this week too. Am nervous about dunking babies as whilst it us good to get them used to it ds1 had a lot of ear infections from 8 months to 1 1/2 years which started after going on holiday and swimming. Generally they are caused after having a cold and ear/nose/throat being all snotty but water in the war doesn't help....?

Hi and welcome to Pamela too!

Back on antibiotics again......still don't feel quite right but think nearly sorted it now and ollie is feeding fine from the affected boob....

Enjoy the sunshine all!!!!!

mixedmamameansbusiness · 02/07/2011 13:42

Hello all.

Sorry I am so far behind and I dont have the time to catch up. Saw a little mention of WW and SW - I am rejoining WW after the summer. I did it after DS2 for a year and a half and lost 3 stones. Seems like a long tim ebut wanted to do it "healthily".

I dont think I will make the meet up now as DH is off and wants to do some stuff after my morning meeting. Next time though.

cherub59 · 02/07/2011 14:22

Think am delirious from lack of sleep......
