Silv promise HI whatever it takes!

Alps basket saddles are the biz. I have some pics on my profile on t'other place of TT in a basket saddle on the Shitland. She used it for just over a year, from 5 months to 18 months. In fact she was on the pony more during this period than she is atm, as I could strap her in and just drag the pony round behind me and she was quieter on the pony than in a pram. So I had lots of lessons on big horse with my friend as teacher and TT plonked on pony. We even went XC schooling with TT in the basket saddle, and she went hunting in the basket too. Got lots of comments (not all positive! But hey. I am FESH and I don't care Grin) I think my basket saddle cost me £175 new but you can occasionally find them on eBay but they hold their value well. You will easily be able to sell one on - I get people ask me all the time if I will sell them mine, but obviously LG and Babychick need it yet! Mine is no longer pristine since the day big horse wondered whether it was a tasty snack Hmm.

As for our ride, my unschooled, fresh out the field, 5yo gelding was a much calmer hack than Cluck's 18 yo educated, regularly ridden mare! Must be a ginger girl thing!

AlpinePony · 04/04/2011 14:52

Yep, they're 195 new but he'll get some use out of it this summer at my mum's. Might be a bit too high up on the ginger princess (Titian Terror II) but will do for the next child too of course and as you say, seem to re-sell at a very good price. Oh I fully expect people to scream and rant and do Edvard Munch faces at the sight of a "babe in arms" on horseback - but then, lots of people don't want their PFBs licked by dogs either - and just look at the FESHspring pics! Grin

Backinthebox · 04/04/2011 15:13

The funniest was when we were walking my mother's dogs and got chatting to a lady in the woods who was complimenting my mum on how well-behaved her dogs were. My mum was preening about this and we weren't paying much attention to TT when the woman went 'Oh, the baby!' and we turned round and she was sticking out from the pony's side at a right angle. Neither child nor pony seemed bothered! The dogs ARE well-behaved, btw, but the pony is a law unto herself.

Muser · 04/04/2011 16:35

I have had a few judgey comments about my licky dog pic Alps. I think the size of the dog freaks people out. Whatever, she's a well behaved dog and was completely under control at the time. I wouldn't leave her and the baby in the room alone, but she's really fine.

Teats are definitely size 1s as I bought them separate to the bottle. I may try the Dr Browns. The Calma was sort of working but she ended up getting way too much milk, it was all dribbling down her chin and she couldn't keep up.

We have just got back from meeting TBG for lunch and she's fallen asleep again. I think I might go back out. The sun is still shining.

Backinthebox · 04/04/2011 16:37

Feshlets, funny sight of the day: My dad and his young African wife turned up unexpectedly last night. This morning YAW tied LG up onto her back African stylee. Unfortunately she did not realise LG is a hair-puller, and in the manner of young fashionable African laydeez everywhere she wears a very elaborate hairpiece..... Grin Grin

Tres amusant Box

Muse we had great success with the Breastflow bottles with LC and now BC. Baby has to latch-on like a boob so prevented any nipple confusion - I have a spare you can borrow if you'd like to try...

Your dog is like Nana in Peter Pan, no? We have licky dog too and is very attached to BC. I do sometimes leave the room and come back to find her either curled-up next to him on his playmat or just watching him. She also proper howls when he cries, no doubt waking-up the wolves in the sanctuary up the road. Her mother was the same when LC was a baby and still has a soft spot for her (motherdog is owned by stables owner).

CluckyKate · 04/04/2011 17:36

Breastflow link here

SilverSky · 04/04/2011 18:42

Alps Global Herbs I think is good. Guess it depends what you can get your hands on in your part of the world.

boxy All systems go!

Backinthebox · 04/04/2011 19:24

Yay Silver! Will message you later - just off to meeting with primary school head to tell her not to patronise me.

Cosmosis · 04/04/2011 20:57

hello laydeeez. First day at work over and done with. Was not as bad as I was expecting. I knew Artie would be ok, I was just worried about me Grin

he had a horrible ear infection last week, his ear was weeping gunk, so he's on anti-bs atm, but other than that is lovely as usual. really getting the hang of food.

Hope all ok? just done skim read.

CurlyCasper · 04/04/2011 22:12

glad it went ok Cossie. Hope A is on the means. Xx squeaks finished her antibs today and does morning at nursery tomorrow. I survived too and managed to steer clear of MN.

CurlyCasper · 04/04/2011 22:13

mend

SilverSky · 05/04/2011 07:07

Massive FAIL on sleeping in the cot sans Moses basket. Any recommendations? Don't want to put him back in it cos he's only got about an inch or two left before his head touches the top!

SilverSky · 05/04/2011 07:09

costa poo for returning to work but glad it all went ok! Smile

AlpinePony · 05/04/2011 07:34

Glad to hear all went well cossie, how about you curly? Everything OK yesterday?

Thanks silv - I will try and pick some up this week, I think we get Global here. I used hormone supplements on her years ago and had completely forgotten about such things.

muser What a bunch of arseholes. Are these "townies"?

I am clearly a B.A.D. mummy because I frequently leave Bear on his own in the same room as the dogs when I nip out to the kitchen/loo/whatever. They largely ignore him - although big dog will often sit on the sofa closest to him and watch him which I'm sure is in a nurturing capacity rather than an recipe capacity.

CluckyKate · 05/04/2011 09:04

Bollocks to being back at work Cossie and Curls but glad it went well. The first few days are tough but it gets easier.
Best part of the day is seeing your child's little face light-up when you collect them at the end of the day...just the thought of that gets me through the crappiest days.

Off to Hobbycraft with Box today to buy tiara materials for the big wedding event being held here. Have never been a crafty craft person so am relying on Boxy's ingenuity in such things to help me out. Should be fun, no.

SilverSky · 05/04/2011 10:03

curlsworld I forgot you were going back to work too. Sorry. Hope it's all going well too. Hump day tomorrow!!?

So, when your bambino is a bit older aka MBs age do you wake to feed if they are napping? ESP if they don't blardy wanna nap and then by some mad freak miracle said child is ackshallee asleep - what to do??

CluckyKate · 05/04/2011 10:18

Not sure it makes a difference Silv - either you wake him and you have a grumpy tired baby or you leave him and you have a grumpy hungry baby....either way you're screwed Smile. I find hungry babies easier to deal with so would let sleeping lions babies lie.

CurlyCasper · 05/04/2011 10:36

Just a quickie from the workplace - Is all going smoothly so far, thanks FESHs. But I am doing v little on purpose. Dropped Squeaks at nursery at 8am and fled without looking back. Day off tomorrow!!!!!! Grin

silv I would always let a sleeping baby lie. Mine has joined all the others with new tricks up their sleeves and gave us a two-hour performance (2-4am) with wanting to get up and go walk about instead of sleep. We honestly thought she was in pain the way she was crying, but every time I went to her she calmed instantly and tried to grab things/get off my lap. Tantrum-throwing little shite. End up crying herself to sleep. Only took four minutes in the end, but she was bloody loud.

I have a good vid of her daytime antics that I will try to get on t'other place later.

Fooking knackered. Need tea. Or vodka.

PollyPoo · 05/04/2011 13:23

silv I'm with the others, let sleeping bubbas sleep!

Casp I'm impressed - only two days back at work and already MNing, Good going. Grin

I am going for my second run later. Mind you, I think I'd need to do about 3 to make up for what I've just eaten. Blush

Cosmosis · 05/04/2011 13:47

alpro I texted you yesterday did you get it?

Artie refusing milk at the CMs again. Bugger. He had 2 bottles on Sunday from TGO no problem so not sure what is occurring.

casp glad your return to work was not too bad. I also have day off tomorrow!

CurlyCasper · 05/04/2011 14:00

hurray for days off! Looks like Squeaks managed to have a nap at nursery, drank most of her bottle, ate all her lunch (no surprises there) and only cried a few times. Long may it continue. Sorry about artie having bottling issues cossie.

pol running? Keep up that sort of repulsive behaviour and you might be packed off the the gym next door to this here relaxing spa.

P.s. I am allowed to take breaks to be on here, but it's sooooooo hard not to check in every five mins when sitting in front of the computer all bloody day!

AlpinePony · 05/04/2011 14:38

cossie I haz not had text, maybe you haz included swearing? Wink

Cosmosis · 05/04/2011 15:50

I was just saying I had lost your email, do you still have mine?

SilverSky · 05/04/2011 17:23

Not sure whether to laugh or mock the woman in Asda packing her shopping into posh reusable Waitrose bags.

I have had a nice day lounging round at someone else's house drinking coffee and letting MB drool over her baybee's toys. I'm now holed up in a car park waiting for my mother to arrive in town as she is staying for a few days and I WILL be using the opportunity to go riding catch up on chores. Obviously. MB is snoring his head off in the back of the car.

Thanking everybods for tips. As per usual he woke after 30mins anyway!!

The weaning is going ok. The face he pulls when I shoved in presented him with carrot was hilarious. He did go on to eat the whole lot. Weird thing is that he won't look at me when he's eating. He looks out the window. Almost like it's not happening!! Denial???
